15 is the stat cap before racial adjustment. Here is a table of How many points a stat costs: 8: 0 9: 1 10: 2 11: 3 12: 4 13: 5 14: 7 15: 9 This is how your stats will work, Fen-Fen. Just distribute 27 points between all your stats. Confused, what are the 8-15 for? Or are all of those numbers adding up to 27?

On the left is the stat, on the right is the cost. It costs 9 points to have 15 in a stat. You have 27 points to spend any way you like.

No, these are the stats you distribute the points into. Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma Read through the rules, and you'll find what each stat does (somewhere around chapter 6 or 8, I think. You should just Ctrl+F for the stat name though).

HP is class and constitution related. This is not going to be something you can ease into. You have to read the instructions.

*smashes head into table* Dafaq? Uh, let's try this. 8:3 9:7 10:6 11:5 12:3 13:2 14:1 15:0 There's a lot of nope here. You get 27 points. A 15 for one of your stats costs 9 points, an 8 costs no points, a 9 costs one point, a 14 costs 7 points, etc. Use this template: Strength: Dexterity: Constitution: Intelligence: Wisdom: Charisma: So it could look something like this: Strength: 12 Dexterity: 12 Constitution: 12 Intelligence: 13 Wisdom: 13 Charisma: 13 Or: Strength: 8 Dexterity: 15 Constitution: 8 Intelligence: 15 Wisdom: 15 Charisma: 8

I believe this is what is confusing me. I understand that a stat causes points, but that's where I get confused...

You get 27 points to buy stats, but each point is not equal to a stat point. You spend one of your 27 points to get a 9 in one of your stats. Spend two to get a 10, etc. And you do this for each stat. So the sum of your stats wouldn't be 27, but the amount of points you spend would be.
Stat: Costs this many points 8: 0 9: 1 10: 2 11: 3 12: 4 13: 5 14: 7 15: 9

You can't have a score lower than 8, and even then, you're a Ranger. High dexterity is a requirement, and you never want Constitution lower than 10.

How about this?

You probably won't need strength IIRC, since finesse and (most) ranged weapons use Dexterity. I don't know enough about the Ranger to say whether you'll need Wisdom or Intelligence.

The only people that really need Intelligence are Wizards.
You also don't really need Charisma.
Up your Dexterity to 15 too.

Now you're not spending enough points. You don't need to drop everything to s***.

You're still leaving points left-over. Don't hold back, spend them. Just put them where they'll be useful. Places like Constitution, and potentially Wisdom and Charisma.
