Now that Morlius is gone, your character could go help the merchant clean up the mess. The merchant's inventory would already be off, and there's no way he could know by how much just yet, so it would be all too easy for a couple of things to just... disappear.

SMEX gains a new spell and spell slot, Jack of All Trades (all ability checks gain half of your proficiency bonus), and Song of Rest (all allies regain 1d6 HP after a short rest if you perform). I'm forgoing standard XP and am doing levelling by story in order to speed up the first several levels.
