The kobolds can't be seen. As of right now, everyone is roughly halfway down the side of the quarry. Cheese and X are at the bottom. You and the kobolds went. A 5x10 cave entrance is carved into the side of the quarry that the kobolds disappeared into.

Progress on this does involve some sort of interaction.

I know.
Where did everyone go?

So there were no secret doors or traps to look for? I guess I'll have Azreal peer into the cave to see if the kobolds left any signs of where they went.
Let's say search for footprints inside cave.

Os, I've been planning a DnD game for a while now, with lots of different toys and some homebrew stuff. It'll be dark in story but comedic in execution, with all sorts of nods to different kinds of stuff. In-game mechanics are known to the characters and such.
Anyways, I wanted to ask you if you'd like to join that whenever it goes up some time, so you can participate in that when this is going slow and such.

(Alright, I was waiting for Russel to move but until then I'll say that Gildis will wait for everyone else...)
"Well, that worked out pretty well in the end." Gildis whispers to Russel. "Let's see about giving everyone else a chance to catch up, eh?"

Suggestion though: organize play sessions. This continue as we go way may work for RPs and CYOAs, but not so well for RPGs. Is the Tome of Battle allowed?

Tome of Battle is one of the books. SMEX already said he's going Warblade though. There are two homebrew classes you might want to use, including a more physical oriented Soulknife-like class and a casting class that can also use Psionics but as a price can't use Metamagic.
Our current party is SMEX as a Warblade, Cheese as a Deckmaster (also a new class that plays sort of like a bard but is more versatile), and myself as a Favored Soul (we're trying to stick to 2-3 tier).

You could probably also use the PrC that SMEX is almost done with. It's one of three PrC's that we designed for this based around the wizard/fighter/rogue trio. Granted, they do require a few feats to use (with one totaling at 5 feats, which are all really good in most situations).
These are the books we're using off the top of my head:
PH I&II DMG I&II MM I-V Fiendish Codex I&II Complete [Everything] Expanded Psionics Handbook Libris Mortis Heroes of Horror Book of Vile Darkness Book of Exalted Deeds Tome of Battle: Book of Nine Swords Draconomicon Dragon Compendium Spell Compendium Sandstorm Frostburn
I think that's it.

Russell just looked around with shock and confusion at what just happened. "I still have no idea how I pulled that off but yeah let's wait for them," Russell replied to Gildis. In the mean time Russell went to go retrieve his sword.

Within a minute, everyone is at the bottom of the quarry. Carved into the far wall is a 10 square foot hole carved into the side, probably a cave. You spy no kobolds within, but the darkness within is almost tangible. No light comes from within. Do you wish to enter? --- Krista enters the cave, keeping to the left. She does not continue far in, only about 5 feet, all her sight can permit.

Gildis draws his rapier and heads in after Krista.
"With my skillset, I'm no fan of the dark..." Gildis admits. "Someone else should take point."

"Anyone have any torches?" Anthor asked as he stuck a bit too close to Krista, his back almost touching her on accident. "I don't want to use up another spell, even if it's a weak one. A Ray of Frost could save someone's life."

"I might," Krista says, fumbling around in her pack. Her hand brushes against a long wooden object. She brings it out in a fluid motion, striking it against the side of the cave.
The flickering flame illuminated the cave filling the next 30 feet with a warm orange glow. Beyond that is blackness.
"So should we just continue forward?"

"That's an acceptable course of action." Anthor spoke as he stumbled a little over a small rock.

As the party continued farther into the cave, it begins to narrow. (We can't fight without one more participant. It would be nearly impossible to win).

Could we run a what-if scenario to stave off the boredom, or what about the Ranger, Malcolm?
