Joshua brought a hand to his head and grunted. "True. In this situation, long stories are hardly long enough."

He thought to himself. "Alright..."

"...It's just like I said in my speech; I was at the PWT when Nova first attacked, when I was getting ready to battle my best friend Nate in the tournament. We tried fighting back, of course, but we didn't know anything about Starburst... Nate lost his Samurott and Emboar to it, I lost A-... My Espeon and Umbreon to it. I've had them since childhood when they were Eevees, so remembering how they had those soulless eyes and how they attacked us without hesitation..."

Now you know why I'm uncomfortable around your own Espeon.

"...Anyway, we ran away and made it to the main hall, where we met up with Yancy; Nate's girlfriend at the time, and the only other human friend I really had. Heck, I even had a bit of a crush on her even back then. I was willing to just stand back and let them be, though."

He shook his head, catching himself from derailing the topic to memories of the further past.

"Anyway, Nate was injured by his Emboar, so I left him with her as I scouted the way out for an escape. There was... It was a slaughter. No one knew about Starburst at the time, so their own Pokemon were tearing them apart; only those with fast flying or teleporting Pokemon had any chance of escaping. People were dying all around me, but as I dashed in search for any kind of escape, I was only worried about getting my friends and myself out of there. I never lifted a finger for anyone else there; not even..."

"You really were one of the people who left us to die, weren't you? All this time, I wanted to believe it was just because you hadn't seen us, but what you've said..."

"...I ran back to where Nate and Yancy were and told them the situation. Then Nate did what I couldn't: he gave us two of this remaining pokemon -- Zoroark to me and his Serperior to her -- before hopping on Zekrom and charging towards Nova by himself. He never said it out loud, but he knew he wasn't going to make it out alive. He was just did it to grab Nova's attention away from the other civilians, giving valuable time for them to escape. The death toll would've been much higher without his intervention.

...But what did I do? I took the coward's way out. I put Yancy to sleep because she would be too unreasonably distraught after realizing what Nate was doing, I had my Ditto transform into a Dragonite and fly us away. Even worse, when we landed at Anville Town, Unova, the guilt of putting Yancy to sleep with Hypnosis like that ate too much away from me. Being the coward that I am, I set her down on a bench and ran. I didn't even leave so much as a note. I just did what I was going at doing: running."

Joshua sighed deeply. "Ever since that day, I've never gone a single night of sleep without dreaming of that memory. As my bloodshot, dark eyes can attest to, it left me with just enough sleep to stop from passing out in the middle of the day, but never enough to feel rested. Sure, I'd like to think I've made some amends since then; reuniting with and opening up to Yancy, helping anyone I can, running headlong into danger, offering myself as a sacrifice to all this...I still feel guilty about it.

...Now though, I finally dreamed of something besides that horrid day. After all these years... I guess it was just too much for me to handle silently.

...Too bad it took until now of all times."

Joshua leaned against the wall and looked to the dark hallway outside. His thoughts drifted towards Yancy.

I'm used to getting the crap beaten out of me... She's not. I just hope she's able to still hang in there... wherever she is.

...I miss her.

I was joking about how I didn't see your post

Well, for starters, we should work on the gods. I'm thinking three or four pantheons covering different areas, with twelve in each area. So, I'm thinking the Western Zodiac, Roman Olympians, Norse Asgardians, and possibly Egyptians. Each one would represent a different culture and possibly species. Norse would probably be for Dwarves, Halflings, and Gnomes; Egyptians for beastmen and monstrous humanoids; Romans for Elves and such; and Western Zodiac for humans.

Domains should be easy and will be provided upon necessity, and each god should cover 2-3 domains.
