"Yes, he's still there. As for the rings, that's also a yes, he did give them to her. But before I answer your other questions, I have one. Do you know what those rings are? Because if you do, it should be easy for you to figure out what they mean, and why Cor had them." Lorelei said.

"Ancient vampiric relics, two of which were found during the near crisis of Volkihar, 4E 201." The stranger answered as he set the rings down on a nearby table. "I can gather from what you're saying that Odette was a vampire. Now how did you meet Odette? Sisters? Friends? Did you know her before her transformation into undeath?"

"Acquaintances. Though you might say we were friends, depending on your views. I knew her all her life."
I really wish he would put those rings away. They're just a reminder of what Cor did.
"Odette never wanted to be a vampire. But she didn't have a choice. One day she woke up with a bite mark on her neck. Feverish and very weak, she was too ill to get out of bed. She had no way to seek a cure. After a few hours of screaming to try and get help, Cor showed up. He was so excited that 'Odette had received his gift' and was going to 'join him in an endless, happy life'. He said his life was finally complete," Lorelei said, her voice showing just how sick she thought the whole thing was, "She begged him to bring a healer, but he didn't listen. Cor stayed with her as often as he could without drawing suspiscion, forcing her to eat and drink to stay alive until vampirism took her. He held her hand, kissed her, and even more as she continued to wish she could die."
As she finished, Lorelei was visibly very angry, and even a little choked up. It was clear that she hated Cor, but there was also some other emotion that she was trying to cover up.
"She feared and hated him, even more than she feared and hated what she was becoming. And she knew she had no way to escape from him, ever. Cor was always going to track her down, he would never let her go."

"What happened to Odette afterwards?" The stranger covered the rings with a small cloak he had in his bag keep the from view. "Is she still alive, I mean, not dead? Why haven't the Vigilants hunted down Cor yet?"
The stranger slowly moved the fingers on his mutilated right hand as he spoke.

"Odette is either dead, or in a coma. If she is in a coma and Cor has found her... I shudder to think about what may be happening to her," said Lorelei.
By the Nine, I really do hope for her sake that she's dead, and not...
"The Vigilants would never be able to track down Cor. He was part of the Order in Cyrodiil. They can blend in with normal society very easily. That's why Odette never knew what he was, until..."

"I see." The stranger sighed as he hunched over slightly. "The Vigilants here have no idea how to hunt Porphyric Hemophiliacs, only those with Sanguine Vampiris."
He noticed Lorelei looking at his desiccated hand as he spoke.
"It's nothing. Now, why would you say a coma? I don't think that could naturally happen to a vampire."

"It can if they refuse to feed for long enough. It's rare, but that's because most vampires are willing to feed on others. The few that don't are often killed before they go into a coma. That leaves only a handful of vampires throughout history," Lorelei explained.

"That makes sense." The stranger said. "A lack of feeding would cause the body to feed on its own self, but since vampires need blood in addition to food, it shuts down the system while keeping the vampire alive. Now, I'm not entirely sure what you're hiding, but there's something I'm missing. Beyond that, where might Odette be? No need I answer this question if you think I'm in league with that undead bastard."

"I honestly don't know. She hadn't went into a coma yet when I had to run. But she was so weak, and it had been so long since she became a vampire. Odette always refused to feed," Lorelei said.

"My informant network tells me that there was an odd mirror in Odette's room." The stranger spoke as he finally took back the rings. "What is it? A portal of sorts? A defensive tool? Something else?"

"Informants? You have the malachite, the rings, you must have met Cor, and you know about that mirror. I would say that you were probably there yourself. Maybe that even explains the burns on your hand," Lorelei said.

"Maybe so, but that doesn't answer my question." The stranger responded as he showcased his hand. "These aren't burns. This is what happens when you break down the flesh in your body and fail to reconstruct it properly. Answer that last question, and then you can see my face and find out who I am."

"She used the mirror so she could practice new spells. And at one point she was looking into how she might be able to use it in some experiments," Lorelei said.

"Very well." The stranger said as he got down on his knees in front of Lorelei and tilted his head upwards. "Lift my hood, tell me who I am."

Lorelei crossed her arms and stepped away from the man. She wasn't comfortable with him being so close to her like that, and she also thought the whole 'remove my hood' routine was stupid.
"Just tell me who you are. No reason to be cryptic."

"You ruined the dramatic reveal." He whispered under his breath as he stood up. "Anyways, I'm the heir to the most powerful family thieves Cyrodiil has ever seen. Now take off the damn hood because I won't do it for you."

Even though they were indoors, you could hear the crickets chirping as the room was completely silent. Lorelei didn't move, she just waited for the man to show his face. Oh, and she thought about how stupid he was being.
There is no good reason for this. Who cares about mystery or drama, I care about my own safety. Until I know who he really is, he could be anyone, even Cor. Although that is unlikely, it's still a possibility.

"By Zenithar's hammer." The stranger sighed as he pulled off his head to reveal a heavily painted face made to look like a Dremora.

"Nice makeup," Lorelei said sarcastically, then paused, and she noticed that although the man looked familiar, he obviously wasn't important enough for her to have really remembered him. "Who are you again?"

"Heir of giant thief family, you know, you could have listened earlier." The man sighed as he leaned backwards. "There was a Fear spell that was supposed to stay in effect for this, but we took too long. I was going to try and figure out what you're afraid of and make myself seem more mysterious, but it obviously didn't work out."
A skilled mage could sense a spell on the stranger wearing off as his speech began to decline.
"Um, I-I've gotta go." He looked around nervously as he pulled the hood back over his head. "Nice talking with you-byenow-seeya-Ithinkyiu'rekindofpretty-bye!"
The cowardly hooded man fled from the room as fast as he could leaving behind Lorelei's quiver and a small note written "The potion I gave you should help with your fear of the other half. It'll only last an hour, so take care. -D"
