Mercia chooses to not believe in others. She's also very single mindingly determined to do things her way and screw who gets in the way.

Tia fought because two of her friends(?) were in danger.

Tia and the others aren't conniving the difference is in approach that's where Mercia goes wrong hard though it may be I can forgive killing Tia's mother for her soul if she was unwilling to help or surrender it but, kidnapping Laura and sending random kids to do her dirty work that's where the difference lies

You know how it's different. Because we aren't going around killing people and using a flimsy reason for it. Tia, Morgan, Levi never had any intention of going to kill dragon. It started off as a simple hey we need help please help us. Please help us save your daughter.

Turns out Dragon is a massive dick. Afterwards, Morgan already mad after getting stone wall by angle b**** and not getting a clear answer at worse was going to kick dragon in the tail leave. Tell the others Dragon is a dick and we have to save Laura on our own. Levi decided to sucker punch the dragon and start the whole conflict. Granted it was a heat of the moment and its easy to say hey emotions were high and things snowballed quickly.

So how is that different Mercia is actively recruiting teens to do her dirty work. Hell we don't even know what Mercia is fighting for and why she is willing to kill so many. Okay save the world because of something that might happen. We have no context at all and when we try to question Mercia what answers do we get none. All we get is that only I can save the world screw off the rest of you.

Save the world from what? When is this going to happen? How is this going to happen? Is killing guardians and doing this really the only option. You know general hey why risk my life to fight a dragon and how is this connected.

We get nothing from Mercia and the worse she's acting like such a know it all b****. We want to help but killing just seems wrong. Hell for all we know Mercia is using this whole world is doomed thing as an excuse to use the souls and take over both worlds. With Mercia we have plenty of reason to question her motives and to think they are anything less then noble. That whole giving Tia her soul could have been to throw us off her scent.

Now Tia killed dragon because there was an imminent threat. Hey two of my friends are in real danger. They could really die by this real threat. Also we know Tia's motivation hey I like Tia and Levi and Morgan. I don't want them to die so I have to help them. She doesn't have any other ulterior motive. Tia hasn't give us a reason to hate or question her or think that the only reason to fight Dragon was to save Morgan and Levi.

What the hell do we know of Mercia? Okay she had a vision that only she knows about. That's it. That's the only thing we know about what Mercia wants. We don't know why she's okay with killing some people. We don't know what she's trying to protect.

Honestly I dislike Mercia more then Karl. Karl's an idiot and we can say hey he's just stupid and has no idea what he's doing. Mercia actually came up with a plan. She's going around convincing others that only her way can work. She's willing to get teens killed she has no connection with on a whim. Oh and kidnapping Laura and killing Tia's parents to do her thing. Okay she's not 100% evil but she has ulterior motives.

Seems like C is the honest answer let's hit her with some of that she'll never expect it

"I don't know," Kiran says.

"...That doesn't help, Kiran," Tia says.

"Don't worry.  We'll get through this together, Tia."

"...Ssssss..." Tia goes back to moping.  "Thanks.  I guess."

It doesn't seem like she wants to talk any more.

A few minutes later, Somnis crawls in through the window.  "Ki-i-i-iran!  I brought a present for Ti-i-i-i-ia!"  She produces a small flip phone.  "Here, now you'll be able to call us if anything happens!"

"Oh, I know about phones!" Tia says.  She seems to be in a better mood.  "Show me how to use it!"

You spend the rest of the evening showing Tia how to operate her new toy.
