The OTHER Mailbag

A run-down theater, set in a shady district of a worn-down city.  The building's clearly seen better days.  Smashed windows, flickering lights, several gaping holes in the roof.  For the first time in months, an audience has gathered inside...

A familiar-looking red-haired woman walks out on stage, dressed in an unfittingly fancy cocktail dress - and wearing an eyepatch.  She doesn't need it for anything, she just likes it.  As she holds up her microphone and prepares to speak, a member of the audience calls out.

"Hey, you're not the usual g-"

She pulls out a remote and taps a button.  His seat rockets into the air and punches another hole in the roof.  What's one more, after all?  Her dominance asserted, she scans the room.  "Any other wise-guys got a complaint?  Eh?  No?  Good.  Let's get on with it, then.

"You all know what this is.  Let's skip the usual crap and- eh?"  She holds a finger to her ear.  "Newcomers?  People not in...  Ah, fine, yeah, whatever, OK, I get it, ENOUGH!"  She puts her hand down to her hip and groans.  "Not gettin' paid enough for this crap."

You aren't getting paid at all.

"Yeah, I know.  Way to rub it in.  Alright, newcomer guide, newcomer guide...  Eh, it's not rocket science.  People nominate characters.  People vote for said characters.  Then said character gets dragged to this totally non-canon universe so we can grill them with questions submitted by you lot.  Among other things.  It's up to whoever's running the show that day.  Don't expect me to cut in so long as you follow those basic rules.  They're posted... somewhere.  You should all know them if you're here and a nomination-viable author in the first place.  Yeah.  Moving on.

"So, what's different about this place, again...?  Ah.  Yeah.  This here's for characters not covered under the RPs that already have mailbags.  No Nova, Oz, or... that other one... Austur characters.  Yeah.  But that also means there's lots of characters that qualify.  Hundreds.  Really.  Yeah, I checked.  We don't expect every author to nominate every character.  No one cares what happened to Joker the Horse or that one cultist guy.  But maybe characters people want to interview aren't the author's favorite.  Which is why we're adding one new rule... thing.  Eh, two, I guess...  Well, may as well do all of them for the newcomers.

- Any character not originating in Oz/Austur/Nova is a viable nomination, whether they're from a CYOA or an RP.  Y'know what?  Screw it.  They can come, too.  Forget this rule.
- Aside from your own characters, you can request characters from other authors be added to the nomination list.  If the author accepts, they will be added.
- After the initial nomination period ends, voting will start.
- Each voter receives 3 votes.  The first vote counts as 3, the second vote as 2, and the third as 1.  Authors can not vote for their own characters.
- In case of a tie, alphabetical order.  Suck it, Zenia.
- Everyone besides the winning character's author then has the chance to PM them stupid, obnoxious questions.  And also some actually interesting ones.
- Then the author makes their character answer them.  Usually with some gratuitous, unnecessary fanservice involved.
- Oh, yeah.  And if you know you're going to be stupid busy for a few days or something, you can ask to be excluded from a round of voting."

Anna lets out a weary sigh.  "That everything?  I think that's everything...  Any questions?  The good, reasonable kind, not the dreck we're expecting once this train wreck actually starts.  If not, initial nominations end on the first and we'll start the first round of voting."
