So I found my way here from the Fire Emblem Awakening boards on gamefaqs and figured I'd give it a shot. So is any type of cyoa permitted? I'd like to do one for the game Dead Rising if anybody's played it.

All types of CYOAs are permitted, absolutely. You can post any CYOA based off any game in the board titled 'CYOA Games'. And welcome! I have heard of Dead Rising, but I've never played it myself.

Dead Rising's fun, and it seems like a good avenue for any style of RP or CYOA. It's opportunity enough for great comedic and dramatic story. I host the two RPs on this site, but they've been slow because one of our star writers, SwordMasterEX, has been busy. They're still open, and Austir in particular gives a lot of freedom since it's an original RP.

Cool, this soumds like a good place. I've written tons of cyoas in the past, but I've never actually completed one due to a disappearing stream of.voters. >.> I have to work quite a bit the next.few days, but I.should be able to start the story sometime this week. I'll be sure to check out that story as well, Clover.

I started the story if anybody wants to check it out. The first post is pretty short, but I needed to get the ball rolling somehow. If anybody's unfamiliar with the game, let me know and I'll try to fill you in on it as best I can. Some prior knowledge will assist greatly with participation.

I had an idea about maybe a Cyoa based off everyone's favorite Italian plumber mario. But have no clue how to start one? Is there any adviceor tips about how to make not just a good one but one that people would want to read. English has never been my strong point (that's why I have a Bacholers of Science). And all the cyoa I read seem really engrossing and like they are expertly written. Any advice or tips would be appreciated. :-D
PS before I even get ahead of myself would there be any interest in the first place let me know before I try to make any plans

Or shift further off the wall with Wario. The great thing about a CYOA is you can do a little writing at a time and improve as you go along. |

I was thinking of going on the more light hearted side. Maybe a Kingdom Hearts like theme but with character from the Mario universe including the hand held RPGs paper Mario series etc. something along the lines of the villans gathering together in a "legion of doom" quite of way to take down there nemises. But of course it will be done in a light hearted way w/ some serious sprinkled in when necessary. There will be some stats but just the very basic stuff like HP, mp/FP, etc.

Sounds interesting, though I don't think the villains of the Mario series' could believably work together. They all have massive egos heavy self absorption and wildly exaggerated personalities. Plus several of them canonically hate one another more than they hate Mario. Maybe just Bowser, Jr, and the Kooplings.

I was thinking something along the lines of an uneasy alliance with the villains along the ones that I can make believable. Maybe a King boo apperance, Fawful everyone's favorite villain who brings great joy to the English language, Some random boss characters from the sereis if I run out of believable allies and the koopling and bowser Jr will be involved somehow, maybe even the demon queen from 1000 year door where one of them found away to resurrect her. Again it,s nothing set in stone it's ideas rite now floating on in my head

Also cameos BC everyone loves them :-D it could just be a simple how did this person get here type thing. The cameo could come from any form of media including this board. I will keep those encounters to a min. As too not to detract from the main source/story

There is one character that I want to have that has nothing to do with Mario but she plays an important part the one and only random number goddess herself Anna and how she can be summoned to grant any wish even resurrecting a demon long thought to be defeated. To sommon her there's 9 golden artifacts that needs to be found including a golden goat. Bowser happens to have one of them and is determined to get the other as b/c a shiny purple stone (the demon queen) promised anything his heart desires if he can restore her power

But Bowser was there when the demon queen was resealed and even bowser isn't stupid enough to listen to her after what went down in thousand year door.

I know he is! kind of the homer Simpson of villains so I thought he could be tricked or tempted by. The right offer. But if not then find a way to involve those elements. Don't worry I know a lot about Mario maybe not the villains personality or how they would get along but I do know this plot revolves around Bowser one way or another. Maybe I can have him seek Anna's power kind of like what he did in dream team when he was seeking the dream stone along with that bat creature (forgot his name)

Maybe he learns about Anna's power b/c his min on/ parent figure Kzamek found an ancient book in his castle talking about a person said to grant wishes if enough golden artifacts are collected and offered at her shrine.
Also another element I was hoping to implement from other cyoa is support conversation. No they don't have to be cannon so Mario and Rosaline can hit an S rank support. Maybe Wario ( yup he's in it as a main) or Peach can hit S rank those would be up to the voters they can keep them as canoon or off beat as much as they want only e/ception would be one S rank per character and Yoshi can't S rank anyone but he can have conversation and supports to A . So far the main characters I would have plan are Mario Luigi peach daisy Rosaline Wario Bowser Kamek, Kooplings, Bowser Jr, King Boo, Fawful, Ninja Koopas with Mouser (the mouse guy from Mario bros. 2 who can throw bombs) as there master.
