Welcome one and all to the CYOA-Verse Pokedex initiative. This topic is for discussion related to the Pokedex Initiative.

Here we aim to create a custom region of pokemon just for us!

The idea is to be able to create a ton of pokemon, but we also hope to eventually do more than index them. This means that we're looking at lore, flavour, and also mechanics. It's ok if you want to start out just throwing around simple ideas but the end goal is to have a diverse pokedex of well thought out pokemon including their pokedex lore, height, weight, type, base stats, abilities, learn set, egg group, mega-evolution, signature Z-move, and so on. Each pokemon is meant to have as much care and thought put into it as an RP character. Long-term effort, long term Verse activity.

As for how to go about this, everything is up for discussion. But here are some proposals:

• I intend to be curating the pokedex, just making sure we have diversity and at least a couple pokemon of every type. I'll also be assigning pokedex number, based on "game stage" the pokemon seems like it would fit in.
  
  
• Making up new moves and abilities for pokemon is welcome! I'll probably keep track of new moves and abilities you create as well, just in case people want to give them to other pokemon.

• Evos/Pre-evos of already existing pokemon should be discouraged IMO because I'd like this to stand on its own. That way we also have a lesser chance of being contradicted by canon later on (don't make a Fighting Eevee because some day there might actually be a Fighting Eevee). I can change my mind on this though.

• Since this is meant to be our own regional dex, there are certain tropes that repeat with every region. If you want to design the fire starter then you are welcome to! But naturally there might be multiple people who want to make the fire starter. In this case, we'll have each person submit some preliminary ideas and everyone else votes on which one they want as the starter. Of course, the other design is free to be a non-starter pokemon.

In the case of legendaries, since they are often tied to region lore, it might be better to either leave them until we develop an actual region, or to develop them all together. IDk what do you want to do with this?

I guess for now, start calling dibs on pokemon you want to make and tossing ideas.
