I'm pretty sure Don has a higher Mental Affinity than Shira, so I think he'll be the party face, especially given that he actually has the language skills to support that role. Don literally can't fail some of his skill checks. Shira has a PB of 29, a 90% Charm, 70% Intimidate, a 68% Language: American(That will get a 15% bonus at level 3), a 98% Language: Dragonese, a 98% Language: Elven, and a 98% for Literacy: Dragonese/Elven. Only thing is she can't read modern American. Yet. ME only affects Saves against mental stuff, and Shira has plenty of that anyway. She should be the party face, because with Don as the party face, we would be one hell of an ugly party. Edit: Oh, MA? Shira has like... 20 or 22 MA.

Btw, I'm joking about her being the party face. It's not her personality. Plus she doesn't have much in the way of life experience. But it should probably be Celica or Amelia, since they're the only two members of the party who aren't fugitives or hunted in most places on Rifts Earth.

Language isn't the same as Literacy, Neo.
Also, how did you get bonuses that high?
Innate languages only have an 88% by default, so that means she must have an IQ stat of 25, the +15% bonus is there from the start and it does not go up by level (you learn a new skill at level 3, not a bigger bonus), and at level 1 dragons only get 3 skills beyond the innate ones, which they don't get many. And, if your IQ is indeed that high, if you selected Language: American as your Special Interest skill, then you should have a 75%, not a 68%.
To contrast, Don's Trust is 75% (which is not the same as Charm), his Intimidate is 85%, has 100% Language: American and 77% for Euro and Japanese (this isn't counting bonuses from his translator), 92% Literacy: American, 62% Literacy for Euro, Japanese, and Gobblely, plus stuff like Public Speaking and whatnot.

Ninja'd. Ah, but Don Thoreau is prepared. Not many know what he looks like, because he always wears a gas mask. He's like Kakashi.

Well, I guess the rest of us will just... exist. Do we have a tentative start date yet? Everyone will be useful. I promise. There are some things even a dragon can't do alone. Not yet. I should probably have a practice battle mini session at some point and not everyone is done with their characters yet. I'm doing some more reading on combat so I can understand how it works and I have to make some enemies to fight as well in the first area. Speaking of new characters, if anyone needs help with working on their character further, I'll be working the rest of the night, so I can help. Especially with any backstory stuff. Did you want to set a date for the practice battle mini session? I do have some backstory stuff to talk to you about, and a couple more questions regarding mechanics, but I have to go to the store now. I'll be back in twenty minutes or so. As for setting a date for a practice session, we should probably wait until a time when everyone is online.

You should go look at dragons again. Dragons have 98% for their innate languages by default, and they also have 98% Literacy in their innate languages by default. Dragons also get several other innate "skills", such as Recognize Magic. The 15% bonus is from Special Interests, and is to do with something Mystic and I worked out. Trust and Intimidate use the same base stats, so Shira's Trust is also 70%. AND she has a Horror Factor.

I know the 15% is from Special Interests, but the 15% does not go up with level. The 15% is a flat bonus to all skills learned through Special Interest, and having it go up sort of breaks things.
She still doesn't have the Language skills to back the face role up, since Dragon/Elven is not a common language by any means, and a 68% American still means failure 1/3 of the time.

Huh. We didn't know the 15% chance was a flat bonus. The wording was too confusing, so we came up with a combination. Mystic, do you wanna change it?

Neo, if it wasn't flat, then you'd end up with like a 200% for some skills at the end of the campaign. That's absurd.

I had to check. Celica speaks Euro well, but can barely read it. Speaks 'Merican and Dragonese well enough. "Rawr rar?" "Rawar." "Raaaawr." Not really party face material. 1 point from getting a charm bonus. Are there any stats that give +1 PB...? Because I might take that at 3. But she's not a criminal or criminally insane, so she's... passable as a face, I guess? She's definitely speced as a burst-damage dealer for her primary role, tank for her secondary (note about burstiness: she can only load 5 shots of the Boom Gun at a time; after she's out, it takes her 75 minutes to reload. EACH.). She also provides a little bit of utility, I guess. Can act as healer in a pinch between her psionics and starting gear. Out of combat she's mostly built as a mechanic. Jury-rig, Salvage, Maintenance. That sort of thing. Oh, and she has Sing as a Secondary skill. But a low percentile. And since it's secondary, even when it's good it's not that good.

Skills can only increase PS, PP, and PE, with PS and PE getting the most skills dedicated to them.
Don is very sane, for the most part (he's got a phobia and a negative obsession, but he's not crazy). More sane than his mentor, that's for sure.

There's gotta be something under Bionic Enhancements to increase the other stats... I would think. I haven't gotten to them yet.

Everyone has more figured out about their characters than I do for mine... Ooh, but I'm off until Thursday! So I have plenty of time to plan.

From what's been said already, I assume you give his skills a +15% bonus every time he reaches one of the levels mentioned in that text blurb? That seems overpowered, and sorta ruins the balance of the Dragon RCC (Godly stats and combat prowess, but garbage skills).
