By the way if Fox is a floof in disguise. Why not get the floof to help cook the cookie. I mean to be a floof you got to think like a floof.

"Hey, you want to help, Dogachu?"

"Bark!"

"Great! You can help out then."

Somnis' mom overhears and looks over at them. "Do you need me to help out with anything, Somnis?"

"No. You stay over there. I don't want you to help."

"O-Oh. Alright." She seems surprised. "Have fun you two." She gives Somnis a smile and heads out of the kitchen.

"Alright! Let's make some cookies!"

Katie seems completely distracted by Dogachu. "Shnuggly wittle mrphbrgrph."

"Um...Katie."

"Who's a good boy? You are! Good boy!"

"...Katie..."

"So snugglemuffin shmoof."

"..." Somnis sighs and gets to work by herself.

Things seem to work out okay for the most part. Somnis doesn't seem to have much trouble following the recipe on the package. But she only used some basic cookie dough stuff. And they're only sugar cookies. And...she kinda burned them a little.

"Um...here you go." Somnis tries to hand a plate of cookies to Katie, but she seems busy. Her face is in Somnis' dog. "...Okay. Well, I'll just put yours in a thingy for you I guess..." Somnis puts her cookies in a thingy.

Somnis spends her night being ignored, but doesn't really bring it up. Finally, Katie eventually leaves, taking her share of the cookies with her. Somnis feels kind of crappy after the exchange, but knows she at least did her best while working alone.

Having finished, Somnis suddenly gets a text from Buttons.

"Hey, Somnis, I got some info on the other world. The Occult Club turned up something about an arena in the subway. Meet me there at midnight. It seems worth looking into."

At midnight...? Mom recently got mad at me for heading out at night without telling her why. I...I'm not really sure what I should do. There's no way I can leave without her noticing. She's sitting right there...

D. Tell Buttons that you should meet there another time

I can't let mom get mad at me again. If she grounds me, that could make things even harder for me. Sorry, Buttons.

Somnis texts Buttons, telling him that she's not going tonight. They should head there another time. Buttons responds back. "Seriously...? Meh, whatever."

He seems kind of frustrated. Well, hopefully he'll get over it soon enough. I'd explain the situation, but...I don't really think he'd understand.

Somnis looks over at her mom.

I wonder why mom has been home so much recently...She used to work all the time. I hardly ever saw her.

Somnis checks the time.

Whoa. It's getting late.

"Hey, mom, I'm going to bed."

"Alright, Somnis. Goodnight. I'll see you in the morning!"

"See me in the morning...?"

"Of course!" Somnis' mom smiles. "I thought maybe we should spend some time together."

Er...Spend some time together? I'm...too tired to deal with this right now. I'll ask her why she's being so weird tomorrow.

Somnis decides to head upstairs and heads off to bed.
