I'll just call this mysterious number while looking up cute cat pictures on the internet. What could possibly go wrong?
While Somnis looks through pictures of cute animals, she dials the mysterious number. She smiles at how cute they are. "I wish I had a cute little animal. Maybe now that we've moved we can get one..." She considers the thought of having a pet before the phone is suddenly answered.
"Hello? Who is this?" The voice is a girl's. It sounds familiar.
"Hey! Actually, I was wondering who this was."
"What? This better not be Buttons again. I told you to stop asking about my father!"
"Whoa, calm down. I'm not Buttons. He gave me this phone number. My name is Somnis."
"Oh, Somnis? That sounds familiar..."
"I was the girl that ran in late on the first day of school."
"Oh, the weird girl. I thought your name was Bareru-Chan."
"Heheh, yeah, that was kind of a joke. Kind of."
"Wait, are you Buttons' girlfriend?"
"Oh, n-no! Of course not! We're just friends." Somnis is blushing slightly just at the thought.
"Okay. Sorry about that. He's been constantly calling me. It's annoying. So have the detectives and the police." She sighs on the other end. "I just wish they'd leave me alone. I'm just a normal girl. Really. I don't know what their problem is."
A.) "Are you a murderer...?"
B.) "I'm sorry to hear that..."
C.) "Hey, wanna go shopping sometime?"
D.) "Yeah, Buttons is weird."
E.) "That girl, Julia, she's annoying too. So nosy."
F.) "You're that girl who's father disappeared, aren't you...?"
G.) "My mom is a detective."
H.) "Yeah, the police suck."
I.) "You're whiny."

Hmm...I see an oppurtunity for another friend!
"Yeah, the police suck. Let's go shopping sometime."
"Those two things aren't even close to related! And I don't even know who you are!"
"So...? We can still become best friends over a shopping trip!"
"Hell no. I'm not hanging out with Buttons' girlfriend that somehow got my phone number and is a creep." The unknown girl hangs up the phone.
"Aww. No fun." Somnis puts her phone away and heads downstairs. There her mother gets up, putting on her jacket.
"Ready to go, Somnis?"
"Yup!" Somnis puts on Buttons' sweater and heads out the door happily.
That night, while they were eating at some random diner Somnis' mother found, Somnis sat there, wondering why nobody wanted to hang out with her. She wasn't a bad person or anything. Maybe they were just always busy. Wasn't playing in the fountains fun? "So how's school going?" Somnis looks up and realizes her mother asked a question.
She puts on a big smile. "It's great! I already have a bunch of friends and everything!" Somnis then looks back down a moment. She lied, but it's okay. She didn't want mom to worry. Somnis then gets an idea and looks up to her mother. "Hey mom?"
"Yeah?"
"Can we get a cute pet?"
"Hm? Why do you suddenly want a pet?"
"I'm almost an adult now, mom. I can handle the responsibility. Besides. They're so cute! We couldn't have them at the apartment. Come on, please?"
"Well, let me think about it."
"Pleeeaaaaasssseeeee?"
"Well, if you'll really take good care of it and can be responsible...then okay."
"YEAH!" Somnis almost leaps out of her chair.
"We'll go to the pet store on Friday. How does that sound?"
"Thank you! Thank you soooo much! I love you!" Somnis gives her mom a big hug.

She sees a vision of another place. The sky is sunny and blue. It's warm. The field she stands in is full of beautiful flowers. A woman's voice speaks to her. "Human. You are a human. What is that...? A human?" Somnis looks behind her and notices a large flower towering above her. Within the bloom stands a woman bathed in light. Her entire figure is made of a yellow light and she wears beautiful flower armor. Two soldiers with the same radiant glow and flower armor stand at her sides. The woman in the giant flower sits at its edge, looking at Somnis curiously. As if the word "Human" is foreign to her. "A human. Like me. Or like my friends that came here." That voice does not belong to Somnis. A man phases through her from behind, walking up to the mysterious woman. "We're all humans." "I've never heard of this before. A human. But you claim you are different then the people that live here." "Of course. Those animals are just monsters. But we're different." "Monsters...? That is an odd word for it." The woman frowns. "Everything here has its place. We are all equals, are we not? From the smallest Sun Ferret, to the largest Tricera. What would make you humans different and so special?" "Well, we're like you. We can talk. We can create. We can study. We can do so much." "But we are like the 'monsters' as you call them. All of us that live here live as equals in a natural balance. It is my job to watch over such a delicate balance as the Soul Guardian." The woman then smiles and tilts her head slightly. "You humans are interesting." "Haha, I guess you could say that. You don't mind us being here?" "Of course not. Why would I mind? New creatures always come and go. It is a natural part of this world." "You know, I think we could learn a lot from each other. Humans and monsters that is." "Yes. There is always something to learn..." Somnis' dream begins to fade away as the light of the sunny plains darkens.

September 15th Thursday, Rainy

She jumps up out of bed, getting ready for school before looking outside. "Rain...? I love rain!" She puts on Buttons' sweater and grabs her umbrella before heading outside on her walk to school. Nothing really eventful happens on her walk. But she does enjoy splashing around in the puddles on her way. Once Somnis reached school, she went through classes as usual. No real interesting events take place. She notices the ninja girl is having trouble studying in class. By that, I mean the ninja girl is drawing pictures of ferrets and talking to the weird, pop tart obsessed kid in class. Oh, and some kid stood up on the tables and screamed during lunch. "ATTENTION STUDENT BODY! The rumors that Fox was spreading around about vortexes and portals are all true! Last night, I went into one of those portals and the Ferret Mafia stole my pop tarts! I am calling everyone in this room to arms to annihilate those scum of the Earth ferrets! It doesn't matter how many gallons of milk, gasoline, and poptarts we have to use, WE WILL KILL THE POP-TART STEALING FERRETS FROM ANOTHER WORLD AND TAKE BACK WHAT IS RIGHTFULLY MINE! I guess I'll go to the Volunteer Club. It looks like they're going to the local animal shelter today. That could be fun!Somnis heads off to the Volunteer Club. There, the group goes to help groom a bunch of dogs. Somnis has fun and learns how to understand living things better. Your Understanding has increased by 1!Once she finishes up, Somnis goes over to talk to a girl she sees volunteering as well. She's washing a dog and both her and the puppy are covered in bubbles. Katie: Animal LoverShe wears a cute little hoodie with dog paw prints on it and the hood looks like a little doggie when you wear it. Her shirt has a cute dog on it as well. Her light brown hair is carefully tucked in the hood. She's absolutely soaked. "Hahaha! Aww, aren't you a little cutie. Fluffy fluff fluff~" She coos to the dog in a happy tone and the dog rolls around in the water happily, splashing her. "Whoa, you made a big mess, huh?" Somnis looks around at the water all over the floor. "Huh? Oh, yikes! You're right. I guess I got distracted by this cute little fluffy fluff fluffykins~" She plays with the dog, rubbing its belly. "You're so cute. You so cute! Cute cutie cute cute!" "Um. Do you...do you need some help with finishing your work?" "Cute little snugglemuffin doggiedog." She seems oblivious to Somnis' presence. "Uh...Um...I'll help you out, I guess." Somnis begins to handle the grooming of the dog the girl is talking to. "So what's your name?" "I'm Katie." The two rinse off the dog together, getting all the bubbles off of it. "I just love doggies so much! Sometimes I get distracted though. They're just all so cute I can't help myself!" "Haha, I know the feeling. I think they're all really cute too. I'm actually planning on getting a dog soon." "Oh, really!? I love doggies, but I don't have one. What's your doggie's name?" "Well, like I said, I don't have it yet, so I dunno. But it will be exciting once I do!" "Doggies are so cute and squishy and doggie dog doggie dog doggggg~" "I can tell you really like them. You're probably the most excited by dogs than any other person I've ever met before." "Oh, yes. Doggie is so cute. So squishy. I love doggies. Everyone should have one! Even though I can't. Dad's allergic. Kind of a bummer, huh?" "Yeah, kinda. That's too bad. I bet you'd be a cool owner." "You think so?" "Yeah. Maybe you can help me with my dog when I get it?" She gasps excitedly. Somnis waves to her and the girl waves back at first, but slowly starts to look at Somnis weirdly before shaking her head, finishing up her work, and heading back inside. Does she know Somnis or something...? Somnis heads on in her house. Her mom is working late at night once again. Looks like Somnis has the house to herself. What to do...? A.) A book about fishing...? Maybe I can catch a fishie.
Somnis picks up the fishing guide and begins to read it. It starts off with basics on fishing, providing a lot of information on fishing, different ways to fish, different fish to fish, and how the fish are fish. It's surprisingly educational.

Somnis finally stops reading the book after reading a few chapters, noticing it's already getting pretty late. She heads to bed for the night, excited to get her dog tomorrow."
