The Dating Sim

"You said...You said that I...reminded you of her. Of Sara." Somnis steps toward Galleon and reaches out a hand, placing it on his shoulder. "Don't you think...this is what she would want?"

"...Ye're right." He closes his eyes for a moment. "This was...irrational. Sara wouldn't want this. I remember, even as her eyes were losin' that light o' her's. She said te me...She told me not to hate ye. Ah, what have I done...? Repeatin' the mistake that those humans made all those years ago. I...have nothin' I can say te defend meself." Somnis notices tears are starting to come down Galleon's face. "Go ahead an' take me life. If ye're after the soul...I deserve this."

Somnis shakes her head. "No, Galleon. I'm not going to hurt you. I want things to change. If I act on revenge too, that won't do any good. I...saw Sara once. It's hard to explain, but I have these dreams. I think they let me see the past. I saw how the hope shined in her eyes. I want everyone else to feel like that too. To feel that hope."

"...Ye're somethin' special, ye know that?" He stands up and his eyes open. "The moment I saw ye, I knew I was in fer some crazy adventure. That hope in yer eyes, just like Sara's, is the thing that sparks adventures. Like this one. Maybe ye really can change the world." Galleon looks out at the sea. "I know there are bad human out in the world, but there are good ones too. That's what Sara wanted me te remember. That's what she told me not te forget." He then looks back at Somnis. "If there's ever anythin' I can do for ye, just call." He smiles at her. "Maybe we can change things together."

Somnis smiles back and gives Galleon a hug.

The party returned home that night and slept well in their beds. Somehow, it was comforting knowing that something changed in the other world.

Monday September 26th, Sunny

Another day at school! Somnis heads back to school, focusing rather easily on her classes. During lunch, Freya bumps into her and mentions a soccer game on Thursday. That sounds interesting. Sort of. Not really. Somnis knows nothing about soccer. She continues along through the day, spending a lot of time with Buttons and Lisa.

Afternoon

After classes, Somnis packs her things up and gets ready to go.

I wonder what the Dramusic Club is like? I've never been before.

Somnis decides to head over to the Music/Drama Club and check it out. As she enters, she can hear singing coming from inside.

Avalon, Rising Star

She has the voice of an angel. The girl stands on the stage in the auditorium, singing her heart out. She's got long, blond hair and her eyes are...blue and seem almost like the stars themselves are inside. She wears a blue and white patterned dress along with a silky looking scarf and a blue jacket. Her boots match the dress as well. She lights up the room with her smile and appears to be enjoying herself quite a bit.

She stops singing and looks over as Somnis enters. "Oh, hello! I don't think we've met before. Are you here for the Music and Drama Club?"

"Yeah, I'm Somnis."

"Nice to meet you! My name is Avalon. I'm the one that leads this club."

"Oh, cool! Nice to meet you too. My name's Somnis."

"You...said that already."

"Oh, yeah, I did."

"...So, you want to maybe show us what your singing is like since you're here? Go ahead, I'd love to hear it."

"Alright!" Somnis hops up on the stage and grabs the microphone, singing into it. Her singing is...to put it nicely, terrible.

"O-Okay! I think...that's enough for us to tell where you fit in the different skill levels. We just needed to hear so that we could tell where to start teaching you."

"It was pretty good, right? I can dance too, want to see?" Somnis starts dancing around.

"It's...It's very nice, Somnis. You've got a lot of potential. But uh...we can't let you hog the stage! Yeah, that's it. We need to let the others go up. You can't just outshine them all, you know."

"Ohhh, you're probably right." Somnis hops down off the stage. "So, when do the lessons and stuff start?"

"Here, I'll teach you myself. Let's start with some basic breathing exercise. Breathing is very important in singing. Without it, you can't sing."

"Or live."

"That too. But let's focus on the singing part. So, here's the secret to good breathing..."

After going through some simple lessons, Somnis finishes her first day of the Drama/Music Club. As she gets her things together and walks out the door, she waves to Avalon. "Goodbye! Thanks for teaching me all that stuff!"

"Welcome home, Somnis. I'm making dinner right now, so make sure you don't go running off too far, okay?"

"Alright." Somnis checks her phone. There's a message from Lisa.

From Lisa: Hey, you know how we never found out what that anomaly was? I think I figured it out. There was a group of people other than the group we know about that went in. I'm worried. I think...there might be other students investigating this other world. I'm going to keep looking into it, but uh...stay safe, right? I don't want you getting hurt in any way.

Somnis responds, telling Lisa she'll be careful.

From Lisa: Good. See you tomorrow at school.

I can't really leave the house. What should I do...?

Somnis decides to read her Fishing Guide. It details multiple fishing techniques and ways to catch fish. She makes mental notes of it and feels like she's getting to become better at fish catching.

The cloudy plateau from before comes into view. The mysterious man in armor with angel wings stands there as well. A hatchling wyrm flies around him excitedly, like a small child. It lets out happy sounds. "Yes, it is good to see you too. I am glad that you are growing well." He stretches out an arm and the wyrm lands on it. "Oh? What's this?" The wyrm places a shiny ring in his hand and squarks at him. "Thank you. But this is not ours to take. You stole this, didn't you?" The wyrm looks at him guiltily. "Here, take this back to the one you stole it from. We do not steal. It is wrong. I know that as a Gold Wyrm, you naturally want to hoard shiny objects, but please try not to steal." The wyrm nods and takes the ring before flying off.

"Without the humans here, it feels like life is finally possible again..."

Tuesday September 27th, Cloudy

Somnis hops out of bed and goes on over to school. It's a pretty boring school day, but having Lisa there makes it a little better.

Somnis decides to head over to the Volunteer Club today. However, instead of going with Katie to help dogs like she expected, Somnis goes with Fox and Raine to help with some sort of community garden or something. She doesn't really know what she's doing aside from planting things. It's kind of fun though. And she enjoys the time spent with Fox and Raine.

Somnis returns home and finds that her mom is late at work again tonight. She checks her phone and sees a message from Lisa.

From Lisa: I think I've been making progress on finding out who those other people are. You know that girl that called you the other night? I found out her name is Mattea. They think the other world and the kidnappings on the news are related. That must be why they're investigating it. I'm going to ask them to stop. We can't have them getting hurt.

Somnis texts back, saying okay. She then lays down and wonders what she should do.

Somnis hugs Dogachu and snuggles him for a while before getting up. "Alright, it's getting late. Let's head home."
