Kaaaay. I got guilted into going, anyway, so that works out.
...Why do you need pest control if you have cats?

Because we have indoor cats, and we're getting rid of ticks and things.

After PK died of a tick-borne disease, we were naturally alarmed. Went for a while without signs of them, but we saw a tiny one last week, and decided to call. It's the areas outside behind the apartment that are actually worrisome, so contacting the management company is the best thing for that. Having our apartment looked at is just an extra precaution.

Session Summary:
Welcome to Shangri-la. It's exactly what you'd expect. The valley's the Shangri, the temple's the Seven Stars Temple. They have a very nice garden and are pretty chill but also kinda neat-freaks. They've been waiting for some heroes of time but maybe not these ones but probably these ones? Someone finally pointed out that heroes of time kind of spread their fate-breakiness to people around them by nature of their existence. Which is probably the crux of Arlan's plan but they can't just go hide in a cave at this point because there's other stuff at play and it'd be better to break it the right way than let it break the wrong way. Found out that Bast kinda has a beef with Lavos because he decided he wanted to steal Christmas the power of nature and murdered like 99% of the nature spirits/Bast's friends to do it and they can't just make more but it's OK they'll come back eventually (in a looooong time) if someone stops murdering them
Reminder that Aeva's 25% slower and loses her set bonus when she doesn't have her sandals so she's reeeeaaaally trusting Bast to be a good kitty right now

I'm so sorry, guys. It's a long story, but I tried to juggle doing this over at my friend's and things just didn't go according to plan. I can do tonight, and I am back home now. I should have assumed something would come up. It's my fault. Looks like you did continue some at least, which is good.

Aeva and Bast had great RP. There was a bit later in the night with Seren, Selene, Raven, and also eventually Bast that exists mostly in chat log text, which happened after we officially called session. That's all the happened after you left, Cheese. What time works for everyone tonight?

Lots of character moments Sephira, Empyreon Dargon Monk Extraordinaire, rank up She got abandoned at SST as a baby and grew up there and never knew who she was or where she came from or left the temple Oh no she's definitely not important Warin found some books he probably kinda wishes he hadn't about the drow and dwarves and creepy-crawlies and by creepy-crawlies I mean eldritch abominations Aeva and Seren did wrestling practice with people and got acknowledged by a giant boulder Raven slept Selene talked about her childhood a bit and also her time hanging with the Crusader Bast confirmed as not gay, just very lonely Also she and Seren buried the hatchet and not in Seren's back like Bast kinda wanted to earlier Off to summoner village Party paused to talk about who and/or what Sephira is and may mirror her later, after chatting with her about it
Side question! How does the party feel about probably losing a one-of-a-kind exceptionally powerful item for a pure character moment that will almost definitely provide no actual benefit for the party and may even cause more problems down the line?

Deals with the PoS are, realistically, worse than Nyl's deal with Manu. Remember that he managed to get, at a minimum, wellspring power immortality, and maybe more. And that was from an overall straighforward deal with the freaking ancient dragon Blessed Emperor. I don't like it. I won't say not to do it, but I'd strongly advise not doing it. Side note- Raven wants to look up information on Saint Mary and Winterfell Castle next time she has access to the temple libraries. She's very keen to get what info they can, because that place was haunted af, and she'd like to help fix that eventually.

I absolutely can't sleep, but I'm also too tired to write the next AoD update and I'm still stuck on WD, so time for some GX-level theorycrafting. So Master Whosit confirmed something that'd been hinted at but I'd never really dug into so let's do that. Heroes of time cause their null-fate effect to cascade to - to infect other people to a lesser degree. But that degree seems to vary. Grigori was never supposed to be born, so he's a high-degree infection case. I mean he made Aeva into a HoT. That also means Miranda shouldn't exist. But maybe that's not so bad, fate should be able to correct for the hero of time effect to some degree, probably, or everything would eventually cascade to fall apart after the first hero. But we have one icon with a minor effect. Actually, that's a lie. When Miranda became an icon she caused a massive drought that really changed a lot. OK, so that's one icon with at least some pseudo-null-fate effect. The Lich King incident removed an icon from power (f***in' whoopsie-doodle), restored a dark god, and brought back the blessed emperor. Which means now they're all infected. Probably to various degrees because who knows if Solara and or Talon woulda gotten free eventually. Also one of them is banging a HoT and made a baby-HoT, whoops again. Either way Loki woulda got affected. Then we got the Three. Through various bumblings, we got them back on speaking terms. OK. That's three. Five? Then there's the Dwarf King. Not a lot happened there yet, but we kinda revealed he's being mind-controlled. And dissolved some of the dwarven power structure by yoinking Warin's parents out of that town. So more to come there, but that's 4. Did we affect the Orc Lord with what happened with his lieutenant? We don't have enough information about that yet. Still call it 4. I'm also sticking a big question mark on Farron for later. Karth been hangin' with the Elf Queen, but it probably didn't do too much? One of those 'fate can iron this out' level things. Also we (re) made an icon who is also HoT. We're up to five. Unless you still count her with the Three, which is still four. Theeeen we got Edea. Future Empress. So, two question. Did she get infected from hanging out with the heroes that long? Follow-up question. Did Nyl?Specifically in the short time before her trip to the dragon cult? 'Cause she kinda busted Edea's father out from Arlan's dungeons. That coulda certainly had some effect on Edea's fate, made him pass the iconship early when he got to work again early and burned himself out... My, but having the Empress have a null-fate effect that she can spread around would put Arlan's plan into overdrive. So A) we can maybe call that 6 icons and B) another follow-up question: was getting kicked in the dick Arlan's plan all along? Did Arlan want Izzy busted out like that? To make that happen? To make that happen that way, he would've had to have engineered the heroes of fate meeting Nyl in the first place. And for that to happen, she would need to be a decently powerful mage with the Archmage's trust. Y'know... Even I don't know who Nyl's mom is or why she was dropped off with the Archmage. But he did have a hand with Farina disappearing which, y'know, kinda pushed some of that stuff forward. So is Arlan thinking that far ahead? Or was it part of TeAmygdala's plan? Or was Izzy fated to be rescued like that? Or did Arlan actually get bamboozled? Because it did seem a little too easy, huh. Are we going to need to go ahead and rub that 1 out of Nyl's W column? Side, since Witches are, like, 80% spells to manipulate Fate, so how does that interact with hanging out with a bunch of people who null fate...? Does it make her better or worse at witching? WHY IS SHE ABLE TO READ THEIR FORTUNES? Answer: she can't, she's been lying about it the whole time. That's why she casts off CHA. The HoTs have just been falling for it hook, line, and sucker. The effects are purely self-hypnosis. Moving on from that! Who else was affected with the HoTness? I don't feel like most people have hung out with us enough to be too affected - Aaron maybe also suddenly Ninian and Ryner we'll see once we see them again - except maybe the super-obvious one. Y'know. Raven. Yeah, she kinda got YEETed off the Tapestry when the HoTs were kinda partially extremely responsible for her getting turned into a vampire. BUT. Then Skadi showed up. And Skadi was like 'lolnope.' So. Was Skadi just being nice? Or did the goddess of fate and stuff herself see Raven falling off the tapestry and personally YOINK her back on track with some divine intervention? Well I mean give it like 3 sessions and she'll be back off again... Let's tie that back. If Arlan maybe mastermind-pushed Nyl into transferring some HoT-juice to the empress in the most roundabout way possible... Did Arlan also arrange for Raven's parents to go bye-bye so she'd roll with the HoTs for a bit? Or was it just a coincidence? And if he did, why? What's he need Raven to do? Huh, GX? What are you plotting? Because whatever it is, don't do it. Unless he wants you to not do it, in which case you must definitely not don't do it. Also I'm leaving that question mark on Farron because she got her Farina back but we don't really know if that's going to be too significant yet so. Depending on how we count it (and if you count Solara) and with the three question marks... Somewhere from 4 to 11 icons have been infected with the HoT. Conclusion: The Tapestry of Time is already sobbing in the corner. Hey, I feel like I can sleep now. OK, bye.

I don't like it. I won't say not to do it, but I'd strongly advise not doing it. You greatly overestimate Nyl's intelligence and sanity. I'm asking if they players would be pissed about the goat being used as a bargaining tool, given the new information that there's no way to get another one which is maybe why I was painting it in such a 'this is a bad idea' light instead of trying to sell it. If GX/Cheese/Kitty aren't down then she'll stick with seeing if she can strike a bargain that screws herself over to a reasonable degree, but not put the totem on the table. Actually that's probably what I'll do anyway now that I know it's one-of-a-kind. Also after writing all that I feel like I can finally sleep so I'm going to go do that, then suffer through work all day and see if I can miraculously actually use one of my vacation days on NYD to get some sleep because for some reason no one explained to me the process for using vacation days when I started this job Jesus Christ.

When asked, Neo didn't hesitate to say that the PoS having that "goat" totem would be very scary. So, Imma go with the option of Nyl trying without it, but if she really needs to, she can. She may not make great deals, but she does know how important what she wants to do is, and can decide for herself just how great of a price she needs to pay. As long as she's not opening with the totem, and is using it as a last resort, that's good.

There is way too much to respond to in your theory-crafting post, Birb. Would take too long and spoil a lot.
But I will say this. You guys haven't actually bamboozled Arlan yet at all. Pretty much everything has gone according to his plans. Except for a couple things: He did not expect Azathoth to reveal himself so soon, and he didn't expect the Blessed Emperor to return so soon. But he was able to compensate for it.

Ignore the drunken, 4AM ramblings of someone who had work in 3 hours and desperately needed to make himself sleep.
Ironically we only had 55 broken machines in our territory, which is about half of NC... and a lot of those were waiting on parts... And I had last pick of calls and ended up with nothing to do all day.
I'm gonna take Neo's answer as "yeah some of that's right, some of it's wrong, but you're in the right general direction overall."
