I think I'm going to find a picture of cardboard and use that as the background for the next session. Meanwhile, I'm desperately struggling to make the 13th Age maps amazing. -_-

I'd be willing to help with maps in any way I can if you would like.

I appreciate it Mystic, but there really isn't a lot you can do, since only the GM can edit maps and there can't be more than one GM.
But if you want to help, maybe you could try finding a D&D or Pathfinder background map for me. I'm looking for a large crater that could pass as the mouth of a dormant underground volcano, with no buildings or clutter or people or anything else on it, just the crater. Can't be a normal picture, because they don't transfer well on Roll20.
If worst comes to worst, I'll just create a basic background with CC3.

The difference is you're making the maps ahead of time, and I don't even know what the next map'll be until the week before. Once or twice not even that. Like the first one looked relatively good because I knew what I was making well ahead of time. And also that I have 0 previous experience with level design, map design, illustration, or roll20 itself. And stubbornly refuse to just use pre-made maps. Er... I guess that's not entirely true. No illustration experience beyond, like, elementary art class. I guess I do technically have map design experience since I did a summer thing at an engineering firm...? Somewhere, a suburb has a slightly-misshapen curb that I designed.

I can only find backgrounds with bridges over lava, but I can keep looking if you want.

GX found me some pictures I can try. But thanks Mystic.
Crow, the difference lies in our way of thinking. I know there's an extremely good chance the players will visit Axis during the campaign, just not when. It will probably be early on, hence why I'm rushing a bit to get it done, but it could also very well be much later. But because there's a high chance they're going to visit it sometime in the campaign, I want to get the map done as soon as possible so I don't have to do a rush job in-between sessions because the players surprised me and decided to go to Axis when I least expected it.
It's precisely because I don't know where my players will choose to go that I'm trying to get as many maps done as possible beforehand. You know there's a good chance we'll be going to the Probos capital and the Frontier Planet at one point in STARS, so instead of waiting until you know for absolute certain, you could finish those maps now and save you the trouble later. That's exactly what I'm doing.
Also, remember that I had no experience creating stuff and GMing on Roll20 before either. But I learned.

You want some pretty maps? Well, FINE. I'll give you some maps so ******* pretty you'll piss your ****ing pants.
And I have NO ****ING CLUE where you'll go, other than 1 place. Up until now it's just been short-term objectives. You get your endgame goal tomorrow. And you can figure out how to deal with it.

Is it a tea party of doom where we interrupt the Lich King's wedding by bursting out of the cake?

Sure let go with that.
(even though do you think the campaign can handle such epiciness? Penguins wearing crab top hats, with there tea of doom. Busting out of a cake durring the middle of the Lich Kings wedding)

We drop it and go cruising for hot alien love interests in non-Earth empires. In between genocides, of course.

For what? Other than making my maps look bad. Because you actually put in "time" and "effort."

You know that pseudo-game where you enter a word in you phone and see what it suggests as the next word, then make a sentence out of that suggestion chain?
My phone now suggests "smite" after I. It's trying to tell me something.

Like this:
I have a great day and I will be a good time to get the same time as well as the one that is a good time.

So, while I have almost all of my players here and GX doesn't have to work tomorrow... What do you guys think about having the first session tomorrow? Too soon?

I said I was good to go whenever and meant it. I'd be fine with that.
