Oh, I know.
That's what I have massive damage for.

Yep. Also, ACV doesn't really make you hit harder so much as make you hit more often. Which technically makes you hit harder.

Realizing that I might be an hour or so late for tomorrow, but I don't think it's too crucial I'm there immediately. Just have Blade Kitty get "upgraded" in the ship to account for the stat-ups and be away for a while.
I might also have a list of things that VCSEL pokes around in the ship's computer for so I can at least contribute something if I'm going to miss a lot.

Anyone heard from Shadow? Because still 10.

Yeah, i can play at 10. Im deciding how to spend my points, however. Either using 6 for 2 levels of melee defense and 2 for skills or not giving points to the ship this time and getting more defense combat mastery. Ill decide before the game.

So I looked more at Damage Absorption and I'm not quite sure how it's worded. Can it heal more than the damage recieved? First it says "up to 5 damage recieved per level", but then it says that it "can't go over maximum", which would be redundant if you can only heal damage taken. How would it be possible to ever get over-maximum health if you can only ever heal equal or less than the amount you were hurt? (I'm aware that you can convert health damage into energy regen which might push it over maximum, but it specifies health over-maximum as well).

I think the damage is just not taken but healed instead, so in this case over 10 damage would have to be dealt for you to actually lose HP. Get Crow or Shadow to confirm that, though.

That's what it sounds like, but then there's the 15 point-per-level version that allows you to over-heal to up to double your base health using it somehow. Also, if it just means that I'm healed immediately after taking an attack, then it's basically just armour (there's versatility in being able to direct it into energy, but 10 points in DA gives you 5 health/energy back, while 10 points in armour reduces damage by 10 so it's double as effective).

Absorbtion functions like this: each level you get negates 5 damage and transforms it into hp. What makes the 15 pt version different is that if you absorb more than your max hp, the excess overflows as temporary hp, up to double your hp. With 10 pt version you dont get this temporary hp.

Does it negate the damage and then heal, or heal as the damage is being done?
Say I have 20/50 HP and 2 levels of the 10-point Damage Absorbtion (so I can heal 10 total but not over-heal). If I would take 5 HP Damage after armour and modifiers, and chose to convert to health, how much HP do I have in the end?
Common sense says I would still have 20/50 since I'd heal the 5 damage I took. But then how would one ever get over-maximum HP, since you can only ever heal the damage you've taken? Would I actually have 25/50 HP since I heal 10 whenever I take damage?

In your example, yes, you would have 25/50. But lets put it that same example (the damage after armor being 5) but you are on full hp.If its 5 damage after armor, and you absorb 10, you would end up with 55/50, 5 more than your max hp, this hp is temporary hp (this is if you have the 15 pt version)

Ah I see, then that changes a lot of what I had misunderstood.
Sorry but I have a few more questions. Same conditions as last time (20/50 health and same level of DA), but the incoming damage is 20. Do I then heal 10 and take 20 leaving me at 10/50? Or is 10 of that damage negated and tuned into health leaving me at 20/50 still? (so 20 damage -> 10 damage, 20/50 HP - > 30/50 HP, take 10 damage - > 20/50 HP) Or do I die since 20 damage gets me to 0 HP before DA kicks in?
And finally, for the above scenario, if I instead had 50/50 HP, and the incoming attack would do 20 damage, what would the final HP total be? Since I can't over-heal, would I negate 10, fail to heal, then take 10 leaving me at 40/50?
Thanks for answering!

And if anyone's wondering, Blade Kitty's armour plating is an exotic "vibro-acid" metal alloy similar to Vibranium in that it dampens impacts, which its system then converts to vitality. It's a special interaction in the metal's molecular lattice, in that the impact of other external forces causes deformations that are then corrected and generate energy (you know how if you try to push two repelling magnets together, they push back? Imagine that force pushing back charging a battery, and then extend that to the molecules in this metal). This also gives Blade Kitty's claws their special metal-destruction affinity, since intense contact between a vibro-acid metal lattice and other metals typically results in that other metal's lattice getting disrupted, causing it to fail.
(Similar thing with Celeste's Orichalcum armor in Nova...energy absorption is my favourite super power next to shape-shifting)
Also, this metal is a big deal on the planet VCSEL and Blade Kitty originated from, like Vibranium and Wakanda, and can totally be applied to anything GM has in mind. I'm also open to giving it a "kyptonite" if requested.

For your first example, yes, you would be left at 20/50, having healed 10 and taken 10. As for your second example, DA comes in before damage is inflicted, so yes, you would be left a 40/50 since the 10 you heal doesnt overflow and then take the remaining 10. Glad to help!

So, I'm guessing we didn't get any points this session cause no combat, right? Also, that was still a really fun session. But then, I really enjoy all our sessions. Next time on Nar Shardaa, we venture into the sewers to escape from the evil Lao Shun Long Gao organization of evil Space Chinese clones, run by evil Space Chinese Donald Trump.

Lao Shun Long Gao organization Can be vaguely translated to "Elder servants of the honourable dragon" with certain accents so something tells me you're lifting those words.

I'm fairly certain whoever named it called it the "Hong Kong Ching Chong" Organization. So I think I'm going to go ahead and give it a proper name before next session.
