Orion suddenly sat up and swung his feet over the bed to face Eden. He reached over and gently took her hand into his. "Forgive me Eden," he said softly, tenderly massaging the back of her hand. "I know this must be the hardest for you. Instead of being there for you when you need me, you're the one who's having to comfort me. I make a terrible partner, don't I? But I am here for you, Eden. Would you like to talk?"
------
Senna blinked, clearly taken off guard. Then her face hardened into steel. "... Are you threatening me?"

"I'm not really sure how you saw it that way," said Gareth. "I'm just saying that if you're going to want to keep him safe by going after them, it would be a good idea to get someone who knows what path they're taking to come with you. Someone from Silver Chimera who was around to here their mission statement, for example. I'm also warning you that asking the wrong people about where they went could lead to the wrong sort of people to piece together what you're planning to do and get you into career problems. I'd suggest minimizing risks by not asking anyone who doesn't already know."

Senna softened a bit. "Oh. Sorry. I'm a bit... Stressed right now. Thank you for the warning... But it's not necessary. I know exactly where they're going, and there's only one possible route they could take. But..."
She hesitated for a moment. "If you're offering, I could use some backup. I can't exactly involve the Seraph Knights in this, and I can't go to Zalia either... General Auron would find out. As you can see, my options are a tad bit limited."

Seeing as I was about as subtle about it as a Phalanx Eruption,
"It's a deal," said Gareth. "As long as you let me make a pit stop to the guild to pack weapons and some meds."
I still got three vials of antidote from Behemoth Horn tucked away for emergencies.

Sounders goes back to his guitar. "Eh. Rosa, join up with Val and Aldous to look into the knife. That's in your wheel house, yeah? Nalia, Jerid, Hecate, Atticus. I want you on the first train to Ambrosia. Figure out who those dudes were, then report back. While you guys do that, I'm gonna give G a buzz." Sounders rocks himself up, then strolls into the other room to use the Lacrima Crystal.

"Right." Hecate said simply. She had nothing more to say but look at Jerrid and Nalia. "I can count on you two, right?" She asked.
Atticus looked up from his introspection. "Don't worry, Guildmaster Sounders, we'll find information. There's no way someone can disappear off the face of the world entirely. I'm sure they left traces."
Also us steps over to Rosa, seemingly regaining his composure from earlier. He puts on a smile. "Rosa, is it? It's nice to meet such a beautiful woman in person. I look forward to working with you."

"I also look forward to working with you too, sir," Rosa said. "So what's this knife we are looking for?" Rosa asked.

Aldous waved the knife in front of Rosa's face. "No need to go searching. This right here is the knife we're looking for." He explained.

"We find out who crafted it." Aldous said frankly, looking over at Vallory. "Where should we start, or for that matter, do you recognize this handicraft?"

"Not really, then again I am only really familiar with my dad's technique, sorry," Rosa said.

"We can talk. That might help both of us," Eden said as she placed her free hand on his.

Orion smiled and gave a subtle nod. He gently massaged her hand, then motioned to a place on the bed beside him. Once Eden sat down next to him, he turned to her and brushed a stray bang away from her face.
"It might sound odd coming from someone who usually keeps his thoughts to himself, but talking usually does help, Eden. I may not be the best at communicating, but I'm an excellent listener. So tell me everything that's bothering you, and get it off your chest. I'll listen."

"Alright," she said, then she took a deep breath while contemplating what to tell him. "Grigori isn't that bad. But... He's so obsessive, and I don't know why. It was never like this before. It's like there's something he's holding back, and he can't move on with life until he lets go of it, and someone letting it go involves me helping with that. But that's part of what's bothering me. We didn't really know each other before. So if it involves me, it must involve the past, but I don't know to what extent."
Just what do you know, Grigori?
"It's hard to even begin to guess what it might be when any given person could easily know more about your past than you do."

Orion thought for a few moments before answering. "... Maybe we're just over thinking things a bit, Eden. You and he are the last two members of that Guild, right? Maybe there isn't anyone else he thinks can understand, except you. I can understand that, and I can understand him somehow feeling responsible for you, if in his mind, he's linked you to that part of his past. However... What he needs to understand is that his personal beliefs and reality are two entirely different things. He is not responsible for you, and you do not need his protection, especially from those who so care for you. What he needs to understand... Is that you are your own person."
Orion sighs and falls back onto the bed, gently taking Eden's hand back in his, as she turned around to look down at him. "That's what worries me, Eden. Grigori doesn't seem to understand that you're your own person. I don't know if he can distinguish between reality and his own mind. Hence why I don't want you to be alone with him. But at the same time, the only way for him to understand is if you tell him yourself... At least, if he still can't accept that, then I'll know he's that far gone. And Eden... If it comes to that... If he really is that far gone... I will do what I have to in order to protect the rest of my team."
He closes his eyes. "Though I'll do my best to simply incapacitate him and send him back to Zalia should that happen... Regardless, I don't want you to be alone with him unless absolutely necessary. If you're going to talk to him, then I'll wait outside."

"You don't think he would do anything stupid, do you?" she asked.

"Well, that's the rub, isn't it?" Orion replied quietly. "I honestly don't know. But am I afraid he'll do something stupid...? Yes. And as I said before, that's why I can't trust him."
He turned to look up at her, and the sincerity in his eyes was searing. "I don't know enough about him to say what he's like normally. But his obsession with you is unhealthy, and that is dangerous. Obsession like that can change people utterly, into something far darker than what they used to be. Couple that with severe trauma and an unstable mind... I don't want to risk it. I don't want to risk you. Or... For that matter, anyone else here. So in case he does try something stupid, I want to be in range to stop him, by force if necessary."

Vallory grabs Aldous and Rosa by the shoulders, guiding them toward the door. "Enough talking. We have a plan, and now it's time for action. We'll visit every blacksmith and store in town, if we have to. Every inn and bar, as well. Sooner or later, we'll find someone who recognizes the work, I'm sure."
She pauses at the door just long enough to look at the others. "Well? What are you waiting for? Pack your bags. The train to Ambrosia won't wait for you, I'm sure. Hurry along, now, and I'm sure you can still catch it."
Jerid and Nalia exchange a grin. Jerid sidles next to Hecate and tosses an arm over her shoulder. Nalia slips around to the other side and does the same. "Well, Hecate, looks like we'll finally get to know each other!" Jerid says cheerfully.
"We've seen so little of you, even though you joined a whole month ago!" Nalia adds.
"Haha! Don't you worry about a thing, little lady! We'll get our little lion back if we have to take on every dark guild and abnormality from here to Fiore!" Jerid promises.
"Nothing can stop us when we get serious!" Nalia growls.
"So put away that frowny snarl, and put on your determined smirk!" Jerid continues.
"Onward!" Nalia cheers.
"Upward!" Jerid answers, as the pair quickly boost Hecate into the air, tossing her up a few feet.
"Get packed! To Ambrosia we go!" Nalia commands. Vallory drags Rosa and Aldous to one store after another. Almost every blacksmith and store owner has something to say about the knife. Almost none of it is useful.
"It weren't made hereabouts," one says. "The craftsmanship is exquisite, definitely a master's work." "'s definitely made in Aselia," another assures them. "Well, it's brand new, I can tell you that much." "Ah, now whatcha got there's a Fiore design." "This balance. Hmph. Amateur work." "Did you check with the Pergrande import station?" "I think the shop next door makes 'em like this." "What a wonderful antique! How much do you want for it?"
"Now that knife was made for killin'!" one particularly unlucky blacksmith says.
"I'm sure it was made for killing! It's a knife!" Vallory snaps at him.
"Hey, hey, knives can be made for lotsa stuff. I meant this one's especially made fer killin' people. Where'd you get a thing like this?" he asks the group.

"We understand that, sir, but can you tell us exactly how to make these? We've a lead on Ambrosia, but we need a specific location." Aldous said calmly. --------- "I already have my things packed. I...was going to have me, Aldous, and Atticus make the trip before everyone else got here. I was going to tell them to pack as well." Hecate said whilst in mid-air, comically. Once she landed on her feet, her legs wobbled as she struggled to catch her balance.

"Then grab your bags and let's go-o-o-o!" Nalia demands.
"We'll be waiting for you out front! Double-time, Little Lady! Show some hustle, Atti!" Jerid barks. "To the train station! To Ambrosia! To victory!"
The pair march out of the guild, closing the door behind them.
"...This is really bad, huh?" Nalia muses, once she's sure they're alone.
"Really bad," Jerid agrees. "Even if we somehow manage to get her back... What next?"
"Surely they wouldn't try again?" Nalia asks.
"...Not the guys that took her this time, no. Because they'll all be dead by the time I'm done with them. But if one dark guild came..." Jerid sighs.
Nalia frowns, then quickly replaces it with a cheerful smile before Hecate or Atticus could catch them. "Teach you how to make them? You lookin' to become an apprentice smith, boy? Ha! I reckon that ain't why you're here." the blacksmith flips the knife around in his hand, then takes a bite. "Ech. Nasty. Like I thought."
"What?" Vallory asks, stunned at his behavior.
"This knife's definitely from Aselia. I can taste the impurities common to ore from around here. And since I can taste the impurities, I can tell you it probably came from either a small town or a disgustingly inexperienced smith. Even an apprentice for most of the big-city, well-known smiths wouldn't be given metal this awful. Can't tell you more than that. No markings, no inscriptions, no unique design features - incredibly generic, low-quality work. Whoever sold you this knife, you should demand your money back." The blacksmith gestures to the wall of weaponry behind him. "And buy one of mine, instead! Ha!"
