"Him? But... why is he so fixated on me suddenly? Why is everything in his world revolving around me now? We didn't even know each other well."
Eden seemed to be completely stumped about what to do. Finally she sighed and told Orion the only thing she knew to do. "I guess I have to talk to him and try to sort things out... Zalia would be there to support me. Maybe I could get Velia to be there too? I would ask you, but I don't think that's a good idea right now. But Zalia and Velia could help speak up for me if I couldn't. I would feel as close to okay as I possibly could in that kind of situation if they were with me. What do you think? And what do I say?"

Orion shook his head. "I don't know why he's fixated on you, I thought you would. And I don't know what you should say, Eden. I really don't. Maybe just tell him you've finally found some peace, and a place to belong? Telling him I'm not the horrible monster he seems to think I am would probably help too. But... I do know I want to be with you when you talk to him, Eden. It's not that I don't trust Velia... I do. But it would make me feel a lot better to be there with you, to hear firsthand what's said. And he and I are going to have to sort out our issues sometime, since Zalia has offered him sanctuary, and he might be here for a while."
Orion stood up and walked over to Eden, gently pulling her into his arms. "But if you don't want me there, I understand. I'll leave it to Velia."
-------
The relief on Zalia's face was plain. "Good," she said, as she rose to her feet. "Wait here and I'll go get them."
She walked out of her office, and walked up to Gareth. "Forgive me for making you wait, child. I'm in the middle of dealing with a domestic issue. Could I ask you to go with Rhys and ask Captain Senna- the Commander of the Seraph Knights stationed here- if they need any help? A lot of the Knights were recalled to the High Council earlier this morning, so they're a bit understaffed now. When you return, I'll sit down with you for an interview, and we'll talk about you joining our family, alright? Oh, and I don't believe I've actually introduced myself yet. I am Zalia Grave, the Guild Master of the Magic Guild Silver Chimera. It's a pleasure to meet you, Gareth."

It's not fighting, but that seems like a simple enough first assignment.
"The pleasure's all mine," answered Gareth. He then turned to Rhys. "Lead the way."

Zalia smiled, and turned to walk up the stairs to the second floor. She quickly walked to Orion's room and knocked on his door. "Orion? Eden? It's me. May I come in?"
------
Before Eden could even respond, Zalia knocked on the door. "Of course," Orion answered, stepping back from Eden, as Zalia opened the door.
"After what happened downstairs, I decided to have a little talk with Grigori," she started. "I think it would be best if we all sat down and talked this out. He's waiting in my office. Orion, Eden, is that alright with you two?"
Orion and Eden shared a brief look of surprise before they nodded.
"We were actually just talking about that," Orion answered. "So yes, we think that would be best. But first, Eden needs to eat something. We haven't had the chance to have breakfast yet."
Zalia quickly nodded, smiling. "You don't even have to ask. I'll be waiting outside, alright?"
After a quick breakfast, and Orion made absolute sure Eden had had enough to eat, they went outside to join Zalia. She lead them downstairs, and into her office, where Grigori was already waiting, just like Zalia said. Zalia grabbed another two chairs for Orion and Eden, and Orion sat down next to Grigori, while Eden sat down next to Orion. Zalia, of course, took her seat at her desk. She then crossed her legs and got comfortable.
"So," Zalia began. "We need to resolve the misunderstandings that have caused these issues. First, Grigori. I remember asking you earlier to apologize to Orion. Orion already apologized for losing his temper, so now it's your turn."
--------
Rhys guided Gareth through the streets, intentionally taking the long way to Senna's tent. Though Gareth wouldn't know that. "What made you decide you want to join Silver Chimera?" He asked curiously.

"My old guild got wiped out on a mission," Gareth said honestly. "So I decided to look for a place where I can fit in, and Silver Chimera was the first one on the list. Don't give me that look, I never really got along with them in the first place, so I can't help but not feel sad about it."

"Just what I wanted!" Leone thinks to herself as Hecate bounces over her feint. She leaps up, then pounces on her discarded rapier. She whirls around, still on her knees, just in time to see Hecate's axe flying at her. She desperately tries to duck underneath. She manages to avoid the axe's head, but the handle still smacks her.
"Ow!" Leone groans, rising and rubbing her head. She readies her blade, charging the now-unarmed Hecate. She keeps her speed low, ready to stop on a dime.
"No way she would just throw her axe without a backup plan... Hecate's no fool."

Hecate stood there. "Maybe I shouldn't have thrown my axe." She lamented aloud, crouching.

"I apologize for how I acted earlier." Grigori bowed slightly in his seat. "Although I still believe poor decisions were made, I was out of line in how I acted."

Orion tensed a bit in his seat, but said nothing.
Zalia turned to Eden. "Eden, my dear? Do you have anything you'd like to say?"
------
Rhys seemed to be deep in thought for a long moment before he responded. "Tell me about your old Guild," he said to Gareth. "You say you didn't get along with them, but surely you must have some good memories of your Guildmates."

"I don't know what to say just yet. I need more time to think..." Eden said as she stared down at Zalia's desk, clearly uncomfortable.

"This is a trap. This is very obviously a trap. But... I'm curious." Leone thinks as she dives straight at Hecate, blade poised to stab.

Noticing Eden's discomfort, Orion reached over and gently took her hand into his. Squeezing her hand, he smiled at her, and she smiled back, her discomfort seemingly lessened.
A look of tenderness crept into Zalia's eyes as she watched them. "I know how uncomfortable this is for you Eden," Zalia said, smiling reassuringly. "But we're here for you. And once this is all done, you can go back to resting. I'm giving everyone the day off today."
She turned to Grigori. "Now, onto the first issue. We'll do this in segments, to make it easier for everyone. Grigori? You have only known Orion- all things considered- for a few minutes. And most of those minutes were spent in battle, when the stakes were extremely high. Knowing this, why are you so openly hostile and judgemental towards him?"

"It's because I believe that his presence is endangering Eden, especially because of what orders I was given specifically while in Aboleth Tentacle." Grigori looked at Zalia before turning to Eden. "In addition, I believe that there may be more poor decisions made in the future."

Do the fights I fought during missions count?
"Not really," said Gareth. "They're all idiots. They were weak and very frequently failed jobs that I don't come along for, and even I could only do so much. Trust me when I say I tried to pull their act together and at the very least be decent at fighting, but they thought they were hotter s*** to need training, were too lazy, or both. Worst part was that they don't seem to realize how bad they were; they took on an S-rank mission to regain street-cred or something after the locals outsourced the killing of an abnormally to your guild instead of going to them (I was out of town at the time). They... met their end there.
Of course, I want to start fresh with this guild. Make some friends, have a good time, etc."

"Grigori, what you really mean is that you're worried that we're being targetted because of Orion, isn't it? But everyone in this guild has a dark past. We all have things that could come back to bite us at any time... Just like it did for me on that mission. We all make great targets here. But this guild is a family, and so even if it was only one of us we still would support them. As a family we've decided to bear each others' burdens and we know the risk we're taking. So not only would we stand together if it was just one of us, but since we all bring those risks with us we all have that much more of a responsibility to help each other. We will never abandon each other because of danger."

"It's not because of the guild being targeted, Eden." Grigori shook his head. "It's because..."
Grigori took another pause as he tried to look away from Eden.
"I was given specific orders to kill you to get to Orion."

Orion, who had been silent until then, finally spoke. "All the more reason for me to stay," he said softly. "You don't know them, Grigori. If these are the same people that have been hunting me, they won't simply stop just because I leave. If anything, that will only give them a reason to attack sooner. I am one of the few people alive who have seen their faces, and more than that, I'm one of the only ones who's survived an encounter with them. My experience and knowledge is invaluable. The best way for me to protect Eden is to stay by her side. I promised her I wouldn't leave her, and I have no intention of going back on my word. Besides, Grigori, you betrayed them. Do you think they care where your loyalties lie? Of course they don't. You failed the mission you were given, and that alone is punishable only by death in their eyes. But not only did you fail and betray them, you've seen their faces. Don't you get it? They're hunting you now too, Grigori. And everyone in this Guild is now guilty of knowing about them. Even knowing something as little as there was another Guild pulling Aboleth's strings is a threat to them. By your logic Grigori, we're all just as dangerous to Eden, including yourself. I can understand you're protective of her... But we all are. You trying to divide us will only hurt her. It won't protect her."
Having said his piece, Orion looked over at Eden and, seeing how uncomfortable she was, he smiled and gently squeezed her hand.
Zalia nodded in agreement. "Indeed. And once again, we do not abandon our own, Grigori, no matter the risk. I cannot stress that enough. As a family, we are stronger together. We are strongest united. And now that we've established that..."
She turned to Eden. "Let's establish how you feel about all of this, my dear. Do you want Orion to leave?"

"No. I told him the same thing yesterday," she answered.

Zalia nodded. She was clearly expecting that answer. "It's settled then. Grigori? Is there anything else you'd like to ask Orion or Eden? Within reason, of course. If not, I see no reason to keep you three here any longer."
-----
Rhys nodded thoughtfully. "That's as good a reason as any to join a Guild. I'm sorry about your Guildmates, however. I truly am. Even if you weren't close... You still created priceless memories with them, and those moments in time can never be replaced. If it's not too personal, how did you view your Guildmates? Were they only Coworkers? Friends? Despite what you said, it doesn't sound like you hated them."

"I need to talk with Eden and just Eden." Grigori turned to Zalia and then Orion for approval. "About what happened at Siren Scale after she left. There's something she needs to know."
