"What if I end up having your kid!" Eden said, becoming frantic and even louder.

"We'll just... Have to do our best?" Orion replied rather lamely, as Eden's own franticness rubbed off on him. It was quite clear he had absolutely no idea what to say or do in this situation.

"I'll be a horrible mother!"

Orion's eyes softened, and he quickly shook his head, closing the distance between them and pulling her into his arms. "No, that's not true. Don't say that-"

Eden quickly interrupted Orion, nearly yelling directly into his ear unintentionally because of how he had pulled her into his arms. "You'll be a terrible father!"

Orion stepped back from her, suddenly clutching his half deafened ear. A look of real hurt crossed his face as he recovered. "Why would you say that...?!"

"It's true!" she said, as her eyes filled with tears and she started to shake, seemingly on the verge of a panic attack.

Not knowing what else to do, Orion quickly pulled her back into his arms and gently shushed her. "We won't know unless we try, Eden..." He breathed, his voice much softer.
I know how hard this must be... But please... Don't cry. That's the one thing I don't know if I can stand...

"Our heads are so messed up Cenric won't even attempt to read our thoughts! Not after the last time. Our heads are so messed up the kid was too traumatized to even speak for a week!" she yelled, suddenly pulling herself together again.

Well... She kinda did have a point- in a very weird and convoluted way. The two of them weren't exactly Mr and Mrs Right...
"You... You do have a point there, but-"

Eden's expression turned very angry, and the speed at which she was changing emotions would have frightened even Zalia. Or... actually probably not. But it certainly scared Orion.
"I'm not giving up my kid!"

Orion actually gaped at her, both stunned and mildly terrified. Still, despite his sense of self preservation suddenly kicking in, he didn't let her go. "No one said you would have to- And hey, it's my kid too!"

Meanwhile, on the ground floor of that very same Guild... Rhys's face was contorted in an oddly disturbing way, and his shoulders were tense, as if he was trying desperately not to burst into laughter. Velia and Zalia didn't seem fazed in the slightest, or even surprised for that matter, and poor Cenric was looking very uncomfortable. Velia yawned and stretched, calmly finishing her glass of milk. "It was only a matter of time before we all overhead this conversation," she said dryly, her voice thick with amusement. "Did... Did she just find out she was pregnant?" Cenric asked suddenly, looking up at Velia only briefly before finding a sudden interest in his shoes. "No, that's the next conversation," Zalia answered knowingly, as she finished cleaning behind the bar and hung her apron up on the wall rack above the sink. She turned around and leaned back against the sink, crossing her arms over her chest and grinning. "This one is the one after the accidental one night stand." ------- Feeling more helpless than he had in years, Orion slowly sat down on the edge of the bed and placed his head in his hands. There was such an aura of helplessness and resignation about him that it was almost palpable. He was suddenly a bit calmer, and with that clarity, came his memories of the night before and a sudden realization that hit him in his chest like a sledgehammer. "No one's going to make you do that, Eden... And I... I don't even know if I can have children. I know I shouldn't have touched you, and I don't want you to be angry... But I don't regret being with you, Eden." Even if you regret being with me...

"O-... Orion... I don't..."
Eden stopped for a minute as her faced turned bright red and she struggled to figure out how she even felt. "I guess... I don't regret it either. Is that... silly of me? I don't even know what I think anymore. I don't know what I want, I just-... I don't know anymore. But I'm not feeling any regret at all."
She sighed and then sat down near the foot of the bed, first staring at the floor, but then turning to look at Orion's face. It was then that she caught a glimpse of his back from the corner of her eye. She froze, as she took in the scars, runes, and an old mark of some other sort that covered it, and she felt a great sorrow welling up, as she could see the picture that told her all about his suffering. She empathized with him and had great compassion, and wished for nothing more at that moment than to be able to relay to him her understanding and a sense of comfort. She slowly placed the tips of her fingers on his back, and then moved closer to him, wrapping her arms around him from behind and placing her head on his shoulder.
"We have so much more to learn than just what we know now if we want to understand and care for each other, don't we?" she whispered.

Orion closed his eyes as he felt Eden's arms around his chest, and her head on his shoulder, and her soft whisper in his ear. He was happy she didn't regret the night they shared together, and yet...
"Yes, we do," he answered quietly.
He gently covered her hands with his own. He hesitated for a moment, and when he spoke again, his voice was barely audible. "I'm so sorry... The last thing you need right now is more confusing emotions... If it will help, we don't have to speak of this again. Not until you're ready."

A loud trumpeting rings throughout Alicorn Wing's guild hall. A signal to gather in the main hall, but not the emergency cadence.
"A job's probably come in, then," Leone thinks to herself as she rises from bed and starts stretching. She walks over to her trunk and pops it open. "Oh, what to wear, what to wear... Combat gear, just in case, I suppose." She lays out a simple, pale blue shirt and a flowing white skirt, as well as a nice, sturdy pair of boots, and of course her choker and rapier. After changing, she spends a few moments on a quick makeup job, grabs her brush, and walks out the door and down the stairs, still fixing her hair.
Aldous is already in the main hall when she arrives, already smartly dressed and cleanly shaven, ready to go. Atticus suddenly phases through the ceiling, dropping straight onto a waiting couch.
"I've told you a thousand times not to pass through the floor!" Vallory reprimands him. "What if someone's walking below you? Or we moved the couch for something?"
"It's not that big of a fall..." Atticus whines, a comb in his hand. He looks like he might have put on his clothes with phase magic as well, just passing through his trunk and seeing what ended up where... But his hair will be immaculate before he's through. He's the only one Leone knows that spends more time on hair than she does.
"Did a mission arrive?" Leone asks, taking a seat next to Atticus.
"A nice one, at that. Soon as Hecate's here, we'll run through the details," Harland says.

Getting dressed was easy for Hecate. She grabbed her fan and simply switched into another outfit that was... The identical to the one she wore yesterday. She had multiple outfits like this, and had them washed regularly.
Stepping down stairs, she eyed everyone. "Mission?"

"Your mission, should you choose to accept it..." Harland begins. "Ugh. Vallory?"
Vallory clears her throat and raises a clipboard. "The flier just came in this morning. The Vallast Trading Company is diverting several ships to-"
"Maybe you should start with why, Val?" Harland suggests.
"Ah. Yes. Yesterday, the town of Rosebud fell under attack by yet-unknown adversaries, believed to be members of, or working with, the dark guild Aboleth Tentacle. The guild... Silver Chimera? Yes, Chimera. Silver Chimera managed to repel them, along with the Seraph Knights. Though civilian casualties were exceptionally light, mostly just a few scrapes and scares, there was quite a bit of damage to the town itself. The Seraph Knights are aiding with reconstruction, providing food and basic supplies, as well as ensuring no further harm comes to the town." Vallory finally stops to take a breath, but continues before anyone can interrupt her. "The Vallast Trading Company has promised to ensure shipments of non-essential goods to aid the town members... and line their own purses, I'm sure, but their motives aren't our concern. Several ships have already been redirected towards Rosebud. As a... publicity stunt, I'm sure, a VIP from the company will be personally visiting the town. The job is a simple escort mission. The VIP will arrive here in 5 days to meet a ship. She'll be boarding early in the morning, and planning to arrive in Rosebud sometime around noon. She's requested a small contingent of mages to travel with her. A show of power, I'm sure, as no trouble is expected."
"May I ask who this VIP you keep mentioning is?" Leone asks politely, a large smile on her face.
"A Mrs. Marian Vallast," Vallory reads from the clipboard. "The CEO's wife, I'm sure."
"Yes, that's correct," Leone says, her smile somehow growing just a bit larger and tighter.
"Participation in this mission is purely voluntary," Harland says. "They're offering 100 sov per head, up to four mages. But don't be overly concerned with the cash, guys. There's a nice, hefty bonus in store so long as the ship makes it there and back again in one piece."
"Yes, well, we'd obviously like as many people to go as possible, but since most everyone's already on assignment and won't be back for a few days, I'm sure..." Vallory tells the four mages. "Of course, if anyone didn't want to go for any reason, any reason at all-"
"Of course I'm going!" Leone announces quickly, her smile stretched far beyond natural proportions. "It sounds absolutely lovely. A nice, pleasant vacation. What a wonderful time. Hecate, doesn't it sound wonderful?"

Hecate had been quiet all this time, noticing that Leone seemed to be acting more and more peculiar as more information was revealed. Vallast... Wasn't that Leone's last name? Hecate glanced at Leone, finally realizing she was addressing her.
"U-um, yeah, it sounds wonderful," Hecate smiled. On the inside, she was rather concerned for her guild mate. She hadn't know her long, or observed her mannerisms well enough, but Leone was obviously troubled by this news.
Hecate patted her on the shoulder before breaking out into a large grin. She suppressed the urge to bite the tip of one of her fingers. "I can't wait to go actually. I accept this mission wholeheartedly." She chirped. She wasn't sure if that was the reaction Leone wanted, or for her to have said something else instead.
It seemed like this had sealed the deal.
