"The butterfly has a bite~." Grigori teased her again before a wall of water crashed into him from behind, knocking him over and causing him to tumble underwater for a brief moment.
However, the artificial squid he had created earlier swam through the waters and wrapped itself around Eden's leg.

"What is this thing supposed to do?" she said as she stabbed the squid with both of her blades.

"Spell delivery." Grigori managed to gurgle out as he reemerged from the water. "Don't think too hard about it or get any wrong ideas."
The squid merely regenerated as it deposited some of the black powder it was comprised of on various spots across Eden's body.

"That only leaves me questioning how to get rid of it... Water Spirit's Mirror!" Eden said, closing the odd magical creature into a bubble that was filled with water, having the bubble float away from her, and then freezing it solid.

"It's already served it's purpose, laying its seeds of ruin." Grigori shook his head before rushing Eden barehanded.
The black splotches on Eden hardened, stiffening her movements and making her an easier target.

In response to the jester's charge Eden swung with the fire blade just as he had nearly reached her, but he moved quickly to the side and behind her, at which point she had very few ideas of what to do. To improvise she swung her left leg, which was the one that she was unable to move as a result of his spell, in a low sweeping kick, using the fact that it wouldn't bend or give any as it hit him to her advantage

The kick hit Grigori with full force, but he managed to counter the blow as well by using inertia granted to him by the sweep in order handspring and kick Eden across the shoulder.

Eden gave a small cry of pain and her hand flew to her shoulder on instinct because of the pain. She also nearly doubled over from the pain and force and location of the blow, and being inable to move her left leg freely she was left badly off balance, but refused to be defeated so easily. Because her back was to the jester she forced herself to recover as best and quickly as she could, and so using her arm on the side where her shoulder wasn't injured she stabbed backwards, allowing the blade to come very close but never touch her side, hoping that the jester would have been too focused on the very real possibility that she was stabbing herself so as not to notice her true target until it was too late.

"AAIIIIEEEEEE!" Grigori howled as the blade managed to stab through the back of his right hand, causing thick black bubbles to seep out from his hand and envelop both his and Eden's arms.
Before the tar-like substance managed to harden, Grigori pulled his hand out of the blade and dissolved the thick darkness into harmless flakes before using his other hand to sear the entry and exit wounds shut. Then, the dark coating over Eden's leg began to hum and glow a bright white before dissipating, tearing her leggings and leaving damaging bruises before Grigori followed up with a roundhouse kick to her abdomen that knocked her down.
"I think the fun and games are-" Grigori stopped in his tracks as he saw the mark on Eden's leg, his concentration breaking and any remaining black dust he had created dissolving. "Who are you!?"
She can't be alive! None of them are!
"WHERE DID YOU GET THAT MARK!?" The jester howled in fear as he stumbled away from the woman. "HOW CAN YOU BE ALIVE!? SIREN SCALE IS DEAD! YOU SHOULD BE DEAD!"
Grigori panicked further as he scrambled up a tree to further himself from the water mage.
"THEY'RE ALL DEAD FOR WHAT THEY DID, SO WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE!? WHY DO YOU STILL BREATHE!? FOR WHAT YOU DID, THE TORTURE, THE KIDNAPPINGS! THE SLAUGHTERS! THE EVIL! YOU ARE A HORRIBLE MONSTER WHO MUST PAY FOR WHAT YOU DID! WHAT YOU DID TO ME! WHAT YOU DID TO ALL OF US! TO NONNA! TO ARTYOM! TO YAROSLAVA! TO JOSEF! TO ALL OF THE OTHER SLAVECHILDREN YOU TOOK FROM THE ASHES OF THE HOMES THAT YOU BURNED TO THE GROUND!"
The mad jester's fear became rage as he leapt back to the ground and poised to strike Eden.
"THAT MARK ON YOUR LEG SEALS YOUR FATE!" Grigori readied a katar that was strapped to his leg. "THAt mark, on your leg..."
His expression quickly turned from that of murderous anger to one of unbelievable shock to inescapable horror as the realization dawned on him.
"I'm so sorry..." Grigori slowly backed away from Eden to a respectable difference before removing his mask to reveal bandages covering almost every inch of his face.
A downpour of tears streamed from his eyes, soaking the few parts of the bandages that weren't already drenched from Eden's water spells.
"Please don't hate me... Please..." He pleaded with her as he tried to hold her hand gently, but he was shaking too much to get a grip on her fingers. "I'm sorry... I didn't know... I didn't mean to..."
The jester stumbled backwards before putting his mask back on and shakily standing up.
"Your bunny wants to come back, but he has something he needs to do first." Grigori tried and failed to hold back any more tears he still had as he grabbed the scepter tightly. "Something important. Something good."

As Orion plummeted through the sky, shackled by the Dragon Slayer, his entire world seemed to slow down. At first, he thought it was because his life was flashing before his eyes. But that wasn't it. It was something else, something strange yet familiar, something he couldn't explain. Oddly enough, his rage seemed to die down at first. And then he saw Eden. He watched the end of her fight with the Jester from the sky, and saw him injure her. He heard the Jester's rant, and the words clicked with him. He understood what they meant, what the Jester was saying, but it all seemed a million miles away, like he was watching the scene from behind a veil, or...
A mirror. It's all just one giant mirror.
Suddenly he was gone, transported to a place from many years ago. He was just a boy, barely a teen, kneeling in front of her throne, in the Grand Hall of the even grander airship Zenithra. She was berating him, lecturing him, but she always did that. He was barely clothed as he knelt before her, his robes torn from the lashes, and his left eye was swollen shut. His jaw was dislocated, and his back was covered in blood and welts. He had a vague awareness of his Guildmates grouped together some feet behind him, and the vague sense that one of them was crying. Yes... Her name was Fate. He recognised her voice.
"You should have listened," she said, rising from her throne in all her glorious rage and delivering a swift kick to his ribs, sending him flying across the room and slamming hard into the wall, denting the impenetrable metal hull of the ship. He collapsed to the floor and his body shuddered. He no longer had the strength to even move. "Now I have to seal away your powers. Do you know just how much that inconveniences me?! Well?! DO YOU?!"
She kicked him again, and someone cried out. They moved to help him, and she... She... Oh God, she...
Orion's eyes shot open. Only a few seconds had passed in the present. He saw Eden lying on the forest floor, unmoving, and he saw the Jester approach her. He didn't know if the Jester was going to simply walk away, or attack her. It didn't matter. In that instant, something inside Orion snapped, and he truly woke from his forced slumber. He screamed, an echoing, ear piercing, blood curdling scream that was too horrifying to describe. His voice distorted and changed, turning into something inhuman, and his bright blue eyes turned a dark, terrifying crimson. His pupils dilated, then narrowed and vanished altogether. Streams of golden light burst forth from his body, lighting up the entire night sky, and odd purple runes blazed to life all over his body. Seal after magic seal exploded into existence, tightening around Orion's body, attempting in vain to restrain him. The Dragon Slayer's shackles evaporated into nothingness, as he instinctively moved away in fear.
The seals shattered like glass, and the strange runes disappeared. Orion's skin turned pitch black, as black as night itself, and golden lines snaked across his skin, glowing with power. Then, a brilliant aura of pitch black light surrounded him, and his Magic Power climbed higher and higher, until it was almost incalculable. He moved his hand, and when he did, he appeared to be moving in slow motion. But in reality, he was moving faster than his enemy's brain could comprehend.
Instantly, hundreds of golden magic sigils appeared below, all hovering around the Sniper, and at the same time, Orion charged the Dragon Slayer so quickly he appeared to teleport, his demonic clawed hand plunging right through him and out the other side, leaving a gaping hole in the Dragon Slayer's stomach. Orion's hand began to glow, draining his opponent's very lifeforce.
"Perish," he growled. Then, he removed his hand, and brought his other hand around, unleashing a massive blast of almighty black and gold energy.

"No!" Turban shouted in defiance as Orion ripped through his abdomen. "Not here! Not now!"
The Dragon Slayer gripped the Devil Slayer's arms in one last attempt to stop him by flooding sand into the enemy's skin, only for it to break off as glass flakes.
---
"HQ mentioned nothing about this..." Cowboy looked at the golden glyphs in disappointment as he was erased from the forest.
---
All Grigori could do was run as the thunder of destruction echoed behind him. Every instinct told him to get away from the floating armageddon as fast as his magic could carry him.

Cenric stared up at the scene in a mixture of terror and awe, rooted to his spot, unable to move. At least until Orion came crashing to the ground. Literally. He could immediately tell something was very wrong. Orion's appearance was constantly flashing between his normal form and his other one, and it looked like he was in terrible pain. Strange purple runes were swiftly spreading over his entire body, and his Magic Power was plummeting drastically. Cenric started to move to help him, only for Orion to bark at him in anger.
"Go! I'll be fine! Eden is injured, you need to get her back to the Guild! I'll explain the situation to Senna! GO!!!"
Cenric merely nodded and teleported to Eden's side. She was in pretty bad shape, but thankfully, none of her injuries appeared life threatening. He knelt down beside her and took her hand into his. "We did all we could," he says softly, reassuring her. "Let's go home now, Eden."
Cenric's own Magic Power rises significantly, and their forms flicker. A mere second later, he and Eden materialized in the middle of Silver Chimera's Guild Hall, startling everyone.
"I need help!" Cenric shouted, not moving from Eden's side.
Immediately, the entire Guild exploded into action. Zalia was by their side in an instant, assessing Eden's injuries and barking orders at the others. "Lucian, I need a stretcher, and I need it now! Jurian, Rhys, help me lift her! Ryner, Velia, go fetch Doctor Pierce and have him bring extra first aid supplies!"
Zalia turned back to Cenric, but he was already gone.
--------
Orion breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Eden and Cenric vanish. G-Good... I was able to keep my promise... After all...
Captain Senna came rushing to his side a few moments later, while Cenric flashed back to his side at almost the exact same time. "How is-" he started to ask, but Cenric immediately interrupted him.
"She'll be fine. She's home, and we take care of our own."
He turned to look at the Captain, but she quickly shook her head and forced a smile. "Go. You've done all you can. I'll stay behind and explain the situation to my superiors. We'll find the Scepter, and the ones who stole it, don't worry."
"And when you do, we'll be the first ones you call," Cenric says darkly. "This is personal."
Senna nodded and lingered for a moment longer before heading back towards the main road. Before Cenric could teleport, Orion quickly told him to wait. With Cenric's help, he stumbled over to where Eden had fallen, and retrieved her swords. He told Cenric he was ready, and the two disappeared without another word.
------
The Guild was in a state of controlled panic when Orion returned. A makeshift Infirmary had been set up on the stage, surrounded by blue curtains for privacy. Jurian and Rhys were standing just outside with worried looks on their faces, and Lucian wasn't far away. Orion could see glimpses of Zalia through the thin gap in the curtains. Jurian took one look at him and cursed.
"Zal, we have another casualty," he shouted to Zalia, calling her a nickname Orion had never heard before.
The Guild Master burst through the curtains and her eyes widened slightly when she saw him. "What in God's name happened to you, child?! No, the details can wait. Lucian, I need a second stretcher. We may have a case of Magic Deficiency. Jurian, help me get him onto the stage."
A golden aura surrounded Lucian's hand as he snapped his fingers, and a second emergency stretcher materialized out of thin air. Despite Orion's protests and his assurance that he only needed rest, Zalia and Jurian guided him to the stretcher and helped him lay down. Realizing it was futile, he stopped resisting.
They guided his stretcher over next to Eden, just as the Guild's doors burst open, and Velia and Ryner rushed in, escorting the local Doctor, James Pierce, a man Orion had worked with on several occasions. Orion gently leaned over and placed Eden's swords on the floor beside her, then closed his eyes.
How utterly ironic...
He opened his eyes again and turned to look over at Eden. "Eden... Are you alright?"

Eden's motions were shaky, and her eyes looked so very empty and her expression showed she was clearly disconnected from what was going on around her. She had already been crying, but began to do so even more fiercely after Orion spoke. Somewhere in the back of her mind, beyond the overload of emotions and painful memories that she was trying so hard to forget and run away from, hearing his voice clicked. It was much the same whenever she heard one of her guildmates for the first time, but as usual she seemed to go deaf to their words after that initial spark of recognition. She seemed to be mumbling things unknowingly, but at the same time choking on those words, making her totally incomprehensible. In the midst of all that chaos plaguing her mind, one coherent thought managed to form.
He will tell them what happened, and he will tell them about me...
Her mumbling started to get a little louder, until it sounded like all she was saying was no, and she very well may have been. To answer Orion, and in one last pleading attempt to keep her dakr secret from the only people she felt she could understand and care about.

"I trust that you have the scepter." Abyss' voice rang out of the darkness in the cave where Aboleth Tentacle lay.
"I do." Grigori replied nervously as he set the scepter down on a cart and wheeled it over to the illusory darkness.
The jester rubbed the cauterized wound on his hand shakily as he slowly backed away.
"Cowboy and Turban are dead." Grigori looked down at the floor after turning his back to Abyss. "One of them is a monster, more dangerous than anyone we have. He killed them both and only failed to kill me because I escaped his notice."
There was no response as Grigori walked away and into another part of the cave where he was met by the sounds of horrible weeping.
I'm sorry Shogun. There was nothing I could do.

Orion's heart broke as he heard Eden start to sob. He understood the reason, and he wanted desperately to comfort her, but his words just wouldn't reach her. So he lay there in the stretcher, most of his power drained, feeling completely helpless. A raw, untamed rage swept through him like a tidal wave, and he clenched his teeth and fists. The runes on his back burned and glowed, though thankfully he was laying down and fully clothed, so no one could see. Another victim... Because I was too weak to do what had to be done. Because I failed, Eden was forced to suffer. It's my fault she's crying. No, no... It's not entirely my fault. I only failed all those years ago because I was betrayed. But I won't fail again. This time I will succeed, and I will create a brand new world. Both Zalia and Jurian rushed into the curtained off room at the sound of Eden crying. It was the first time Orion had seen Zalia lose her composure. She sat on the edge of the stretcher and pulled Eden into her arms, cradling her tenderly. Jurian stood back, watching, and shock and concern played across his face. Then the look turned into one of supreme rage, a rage that even startled Orion. Jurian turned on his heel and stormed off towards the front doors, and Zalia's face darkened. She gently laid Eden back down and told her she would return soon, then stormed off after him. It was the first time Orion had seen Zalia so enraged, and honestly, it was terrifying. "JURIAN!!! Where do you think you're going?!" He stopped as he reached the door and whirled around, and everyone was shocked to see the unshed tears glistening in his eyes, not only Orion. "Where do you think I'm going, Zal?! You already know who-" "JURIAN!!! In my office! NOW! Cenric, Lucian, you two as well!" Without waiting to hear their consent, Silver Chimera's usually unflappable Master stormed into her office like a vengeful Deity. Even Jurian didn't disobey, which proved just how terrifying Zalia could be. Orion merely blinked in disbelief. Then, Eden started crying softly again, and he reached over to gently take her hand in his. He softly shushed her, and forced his best smile. "It will be alright," he breathed gently to her. "I know I'm no Zalia, but I'm here for you, and I'm not going anywhere. I'm right here." She appeared to calm down somewhat, and Doctor Pierce very hesitantly poked his head in. Orion nodded to him, and he came in carrying a large white doctor's bag, closing the curtain behind him. He and Orion shared a silent look of understanding, one born from many hours working together and pulling all nighters together, and Orion immediately handed the Doctor his staff. He pulled up a stool and sat down next to her. "Eden? Can you hear me? It's James. I need to treat your leg. If the pain gets too much, or if something else starts hurting, I need you to squeeze Orion's hand tightly. Just once will do. Alright?" -------- Zalia sat down at her desk and ordered Jurian to close the door. He did. She then snapped her fingers, and a soundproof barrier instantly surrounded the room. Jurian opened his mouth to speak, but Zalia held up her hand, silencing him. She then turns to Lucian. "Lucian, is the Dark Guild Siren Scale still active?" He shakes his head and pushes up his dark sunglasses. "No. They were thoroughly annihilated. Or... At least that's what I thought. She must have escaped before the raid. All this time, she was right next to me, and I didn't even know... How did I not see it? I should have... I should have..." Zalia softens a bit, and shakes her head. "It's not your fault, Lucian. It's human nature to see only what we want to see. Don't blame yourself." "BULLSHIT!!!" Jurian bellows, coming extremely close to slamming his fist into the wall. Thankfully he didn't, otherwise, he would have likely sank the entire city into the Sea in his rage. "You and I both know there's only one way she could have gotten that messed up! You damn well know the only way this could have happened!" "Quiet," Zalia commanded, her voice deadly quiet. Jurian reluctantly obeyed, but he wasn't happy. She turned to Cenric. "Cenric, I need you to tell me exactly what happened. Spare no detail. Understood?" He nodded meekly and told her. ----------- The Eternal Sleep, HypnosA sudden wind kicked up, blowing through the cave where the Dark Guild Aboleth Tentacle resided. There was electricity on the wind and the scent of a storm, like a massive thunderstorm was brewing outside. Thunder boomed through the air, and a woman's laughter drifted through the cave, riding the wind. It was a terrifying mixture of mania and delight. The voice drifted through the cave next. "Oh, you poor little Jester. You truly have no idea just how lucky you are! You cannot even begin to fathom what you've managed to accomplish, or just how fortunate you are to be alive! By all rights, you should have been erased from existence along with that pathetic excuse of a Dragon Slayer! What was his name? Turban?"The owner followed the voice soon after. A massive tension began to build up in the cave, like the thunderstorm outside was coming inside, and in a way, it was. A bolt of black and greeen lightning struck from the blue, not far from the darkness where Aboleth's Master lurked, revealing the two women who rode the lightning. An ear popping tension filled the cave, as the Goddess of Lightning smiled cruelly. "I have some new orders for you Abyss," she said, her voice deceptively gentle and yet at the same time, terrifyingly deep and dark and crackly. It was how one might imagine a thunderstorm would sound, if storms could speak. Her voice echoed throughout the cave, and could be easily heard by all. "Your daddy Hypnos has a very special mission for you, one that comes straight from the top, from old Nebilim himself. What is it, you ask? Why, it's a little game called revenge. You are to bring the full force of your Guild down upon the Guild known as Silver Chimera. No holds barred. Test the strength of their members in battle, and do your best to survive. You have two main objectives: the first is to see if you can drain their Guild Master's Magic. Use whatever means you have in your disposal. But be warned: the Wizard known as Zalia Grave is far more powerful than you are, my little Abyss. She might even rival me." The Goddess of Lightning raised her voice even higher, though it seemed to be more from excitement than the need to be heard. " And the second objective is for you only, little Jester. The 'monster' who nearly killed you seems to have a strong bond with that female Wizard you almost killed. I think her name is Eden? Anyway, the bond was strong enough to break the shackles on the Demon King, and wake him from slumber, if only temporarily. Theoretically, such a thing should be impossible. And yet you managed to do it by endangering that girl's life. As you can imagine, this has greatly piqued old man Nebilim's curiosity, to the point he even sent his own Second to accompany me. So, little Jester, your objective is to kill the Wizard Eden. And do so slowly, right in front of the one who so cares for her. And just in case you get any crazy ideas about refusing, I'd like you to meet someone." She turns to the other woman beside her, and gives a low, imperial bow. "My Lady, if you would care to introduce yourself. I swear on my very name it's for a good cause. I would not have you deign to speak to such inferior creatures otherwise."

Grigori said nothing as his face went pale, but good thing it was impossible to tell due to his mask and bandages.
These people are just like him... Monsters...
He desperately tried to shunt the order out of his mind as well, fearing it above all things and desperately trying to stop himself from lashing out.

Orion spoke softly to Eden as the Doc healed her wounds and bandaged her leg. He was just rambling about anything and everything really, but she needed to hear a friendly voice, and he needed to make sure she knew he wasn't going anywhere. When he was finished, James briefly looked her over for more wounds and, finding none, he stood up and nodded in satisfaction.
"All done," James said, smiling. "There's no permanent damage to the muscles or tendons, and you'll be right as rain in a few days. Just take it easy and rest."
With that, he walked over to Orion and leaned his staff against the wall. "Do I need to check you?" James asked, arching his eyebrows slightly.
Orion gave a light laugh. "No, my friend, you don't. I'm low on magic energy, but I'm not in the danger zone and I'm more bruised and tired than wounded. I'll be fine on my own."
James nodded, though something told Orion the good Doc was a tad bit sceptical of his claim. "Hm-hm. Just in case, I'm prescribing you a couple days of bedrest too. I'll go speak with Zalia and get everything sorted, then we'll help you both up to your rooms."
Orion merely smiled, and didn't argue. The good Doc walked out of the makeshift infirmary and closed the curtains behind him, leaving Orion alone with Eden. He was still holding her hand as he turned to her, rolling onto his side. "Would you like me to stay with you for a bit, until you fall asleep?"
------
Once Zalia was finished speaking with Cenric and Doctor Pierce, she called everyone into her office and explained the situation. Out of everyone, only Velia, Ryner, and Rhys didn't know already. The rest of the Guild's members were all out on jobs, and so Zalia decided she wouldn't inform the others unless absolutely necessary. Velia was the most shocked out of the three, though she was more concerned than anything. Ryner already knew she was keeping some sort of secret, and he was content to let her keep it.
"Dark Guild or no, she's still family," Ryner said quietly, showing an uncharacteristic trace of emotion. "We all have secrets, and we all have regrets. But that doesn't change a thing."
"Well said Señor Villain," Rhys agreed, beaming an almost obnoxiously wide smile. "If we were to judge one of our own, without even trying to learn the truth, why, that would make us little better than false knaves."
"We are all family," Zalia said softly. "Regardless of our pasts, our mistakes, our nightmares, or our secrets... No matter who you are, or what you've been through, everyone deserves a place to come home to. This family of ours was founded on that single principle. A warm bed, a crackling fire, and the smiles of those who care for you... These small things are what help us brave even the harshest of blizzards."
Zalia rose from her desk. "Be supportive, but don't crowd her. She'll need time to come to terms with what happened. Jurian, Rhys, go help Orion and Eden up to their rooms. Make sure neither of them need anything. As for the rest of you, life always goes on, whether we like it or not. And I think it's about time we expanded the Guild and built a real Medical Wing, complete with supplies and a real Infirmary. And you know what we need for that?"
"Money," everyone echoed simultaneously, and for once, no one seemed that annoyed at the prospect.
Zalia grinned a bit. "Right. I'm sure I don't need to remind any of you, but make sure my grandchild's past doesn't end up on the front page of Sorcerer's Weekly. Or you'll have me to answer to. Now scat."
She sat back down at her desk and as everyone started to funnel out, she stopped two of them in particular. "Lucian, Velia, wait. I'd like you both to remain at the Guild for the next week or so. Understood?"
Neither of them questioned why, they simply nodded. Once Zalia was alone, she took out her Communication Lacrima and waved her hand over the crystal. The familiar face of an old friend shimmered to life almost immediately.
"I was just about to call you myself," Auron began, his voice slightly distorted by the crystal. "It seems you beat me to the punch yet again."
"What have you found?" Zalia asks without preamble, her voice serious.
"They're from a Dark Guild known as Aboleth Tentacle, that's all we know so far. We were able to track the Scepter across the border into Pergrandia before we lost it, and with the help of the Pergrandian government, we were able to cross reference the description of the emblem Captain Senna saw with a list of known Dark Guilds. Their name popped up right away. I'll contact you as soon as we learn more. But for now, you should stay on alert and lay low for a while. One of your boys obliterated two of their members, and they might come calling for revenge."
Zalia's eyes showed a hint of surprise. Hmm... Cenric mentioned nothing about that. "Obliterated? Obliterated how? I was only informed two of the assailants were killed in the battle."
Auron laughed darkly. "That's a bit of an understatement, Zal. There isn't a trace left of them, not even ash. It was like they were simply erased from existence. Hell, at first I thought you were involved in the battle. In all my years, I have never seen anyone else cause destruction on that scale, save for you."
"Don't be ridiculous. You know perfectly well I wasn't there. I need to check on my girl now. Call me as soon as you find anything substantial. Zalia out."
She waved her hand over the crystal again, and the image vanished. Zalia stood up, and after a moment's debate, she left to call back those who had just gone out on jobs.
--------- Meanwhile, in the cave where the Dark Guild Aboleth Tentacle resides, an ominous storm is brewing...
The Goddess of Lightning grins as she straightens up to her full height. "Thank you, My Lady. I promise, we will be finished here soon, and then we can find something not-quite-so boring for you to enjoy."
She then turned back to the darkness where Aboleth's Master lurked, and her entire demeanor shifted, changing into something truly terrifying. Thunder boomed outside."You have one week to prepare, Abyss. That is all. If the mission is not underway by then, the consequences will be most... Severe. Do not fail me!"
The thunderstorm outside suddenly intensified, and the tension in the cave popped and crackled. Then, without another word, the Goddess and the Grim Reaper vanished in a massive bolt of black and green lightning.

As Eden drifted, trapped in her thoughts while still fighting to disconnect herself from her memories, she had some random moments when she was somewhat aware of what was going on. Nearly a minute after Orion's question she seemed to regain partial awareness for a much longer period of time than she had been. When she saw that Orion was holding her hand, she just couldn't bear it.
He must think I'm a monster...
Eden let her hand slip out of his grip and turned her head to the ceiling, too ashamed and scared to even look at him. She felt that judgement was coming, and by the next time she really woke up and was aware of what was going on around her she was certain that she would find herself facing a penalty for her past crimes. And the guild would turn against her. She would be left alone, in the silence and isolation again, and she knew she wouldn't survive it. Not again.
