That got ninja'd too.
We planned backstories and I said something that I had planned on my character doing awhile ago.
So, can Thief Guild members not use magic at all, or do they just not specialize in it?

The only problem I see is Edolas. If I choose to have a demon, then Edolas creates a conundrum. It was never established if Zeref or his demons exist there. Any form form of them. So I might just do a wizard with Zeref like power. Hmm. Low intellect is bad so perhaps a partner in crime is necessary, but that comes later.
Either way, I wanna be apart of Tartarus Replacement guild at least for aehilr.

After some thought, I would prefer to focus on the divining aspect of the character, instead of using memory make magic.

How would your character divine?

But I don't think you actually need a counterpart though. Also, I haven't decided on a name for the Tartarus Guild yet, but you can definitely be a part of it. Do you want to be a main member, or a minor member? If your character has similar magic to Zeref, he/she will probably be very important to the Guild.

GX, there's a canon character in FT named Cana, and she uses Tarot cards to fight with and Divine the future. How does that sound? Here, let me find a clip for you.

She's also a heavy drinker and always wears a bikini top.

Crap... There isn't really a good video of Cana using her magic... I can't find anything on YT and I don't remember the times she's actually fought...

She could just use the Fortune-Telling magic along with Juvia's Water Magic (Or maybe something more like Make magic) and possibly Archive as well.

Tenrou Island against Fried and Bislow with lucy. Best Example you'll get. She doesn't fight much. Or fairy Glitter. Also, major Member. I want to start getting plot involved so I can be the Emppy of this RP when noone posts. (I kid) But yes, definitely a main member. So what could be a type of ancient magic? If it's too much trouble there is the demon thing.

She doesn't need to use the cards. She could use Aquamancy along with Aquaturgy.

That's not a good example to use, Golurk, since that's not how Card Magic is normally used. That whole arc was just filler. It wasn't even in the Manga. GX, this is the best example you're gonna get, unfortunately. Digi is right. www.youtube.com/watch?v=APUM79_iFN4Do you want to have Fortune-Telling/Card magic be your Caster Magic? Or do you want to use it as Holder Magic and have Water Magic for your Caster Magic? Caster Magic is magic native to the Mage. It is the Mage's own power that comes from within. Holder Magic is outside magic that comes from an Artifact, like a deck of enchanted Tarrot Cards for example.

Would it be possible that if my character used some sort of magic to divine as caster magic that they could divine without always having to use the cards?

That would be Aquamancy (Water Divination), which isn't in the series, but neither is Chaos Magic.
She could basically use pools of water, like in an urn or something, as a "crystal ball".
