Before we begin this epic CYOA, I would like to announce that this will be my very first post to this site and my very first CYOA release that is not related to video games at all but instead more based on the Zombie Apocalypse. If you guys are a big fan towards Zombies and anything involving fantasy, then this CYOA is for you. Anyways let us begin.
"Sometimes I wished things didn't have to end this way. My friends are dead and my family are now living dead corpses. I can only wish that this living nightmare could just go away. Oh yeah I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Zane and I was one of the royal knights who served the proud and kind King Charles. During this time an outbreak of war was occurring and my current assignment was to invade Lionel Castle in another country under the direct orders of the king. By the time we got there....all hell went loose."
*DAY ONE* - Outside Lionel Castle
It was a warm afternoon, Everything is peaceful and there was no enemy sight in the point of view of King Charles's men. Zane and the others began to wonder why they haven't seen anyone yet as they had approached the enemy lines when most of the time they were often confronted by enemy archers or brutes. By the time they had arrived at the front castle, The captain who was leading Zane and the other men had ordered a halt as Lionel castle was already under attacked by someone else. About five minutes later, the captain would immediately give orders to Zane to go Recon with two other men of his choice before heading over there. Who should Zane pick ? He can only pick two people to come with him.
1. Alexis- Female Mage (No support) 2. Roy- Male Knight (No support) 3. Markus- Male Archer (No support) 4. Kris- Female Cleric (No support) 5. Robert- Male Knight (No support) 6. Rose- Female Knight (No support) 7. Jarred- Male Mage (No support) 8. Thea- Female Archer (No support) 9. Jake- Male Healer (No support)
Picking any two of this list will affect the story regardless and once you pick the two characters of your choice, the other eight will be gone for good. Also if you like to know, Females great towards Magic while the Males are great towards physical strength. |

1 and 4! Alexis and Kris! Got our Lord(Zane), Mage(Alexis), and Kris(Healer). Our perfect Trinity. Also, Alexis sounds cool.

So now we have a tie between 1 & 3 and for having Kris as a member is winning. Someone needs to break this or promote another character for more excitement.

Hmm... It seems I shall have to rally my forces once more. Alexis cannot be allowed to perish!
.... Don't ask me why though. I just have a feeling about this particular character, call it a sixth sense for greatness if you will. I just know Alexis will be freaking awesome, maybe even the next Athena, and if we let her die we will live to regret it later on. So I will return with my entire fleet behind me! So hah! Admiral Neo FTW!

I think it is finally time to move on seeing how Alexis and Kris had easily won the competition.
Right after the captain gave immediate orders to Zane, he would nod his head before heading out to gather the two people of his choice for recon duty. Finding those two people of his choice wasn't quite difficult because the people Zane is picking from the top of his head would be none other than Alexis and Kris, two good friends of his who became knights together A couple years back. Alexis who is one of Zane's choices is one of his childhood friends who knew him much longer than anyone else. She is well known for her magic and enchantments. Zane's other choice Kris is also another friend of his but she isn't really close since Zane and Kris became friends while in the middle stages of recruitment. Kris is well known for her Holy Magic and the Healing arts, a skill that's very handy while your in the battlefield.
About ten minutes after Zane had received his orders, he had finally found both Alexis and Kris hanging out with Rose, Thea, Jake and Roy having a pleasant conversation while waiting to receive further orders from the captain. Once he had found them, He would instantly gave out a quick response towards Alexis and Kris with brand new orders. "Alexis! Kris! I had received orders from the captain to go on a recon mission towards Lionel Castle. He had also assigned me to pick any two soldiers to accompany me with this task. I would like you two join me since I trust you guys the most. Would you like to come with me please ?"
Alexis:*Lets out a friendly smile* "Sure thing Zane, I would love to accompany you with this task. It's what friends for right ?" Kris:*Smirks* "So you think you need a healer in your team Zane ? Count me in !" Zane:*Smiles back* "Thanks guys, shall we get started ?" Alexis & Kris: "Yeah, lead the way."
Once this response has been made, Zane immediately led the way directly towards Lionel Castle with Alexis and Kris but took a more stealthy approach to go investigate what has happened to the enemy forces. Once they were past the walls, What they had discovered was quite horrifying. They had immediately discovered piles of dead enemy units scattered around everywhere inside the walls of Lionel castle. Seconds after looking at the gruesome event, Zane would approach towards one of the dead bodies to check the vital signs but to his surprise, they were not dead for not long and there were some bite marks on some parts of the body.
Zane: "What could of done this ?" Kris: "Honestly Zane, I really don't know but whoever has done this must be an ally of ours." Alexis: " You really think so Kris ? " Kris: "Of course ! At least this makes things a whole lot easier to take this castle now in the name of our king." Zane: "Hmm, lets go check inside the castle girls. I want to see if there are any more soldiers lurking around here." Alexis: "Sure thing Zane."
Shortly after the conversation was over Zane would immediately notice that there were several entrances to pick from. What door should Zane and his party take ?
A. The Front Entrance that's right in front of them. (Leads to the throne room, bedrooms and sides of B and C) B. West Entrance Door (Leads to Knights Headquarters, Armory and the Dungeons.) C. East Entrance Door (Leads to Mages Headquarters, Library and the Kitchen.) |

I knew Alexis had to be saved for a reason! But you know what this means. Alexis is the first girl we met, AND she's his childhood friend. In CYOA speak, that means ZanexAlexis is now confirmed. I will begin construction of the ship at once. It will be a great addition to my fleet. |

So "C" is clearly our winner, Moving on to the next part of the story.
After taking some quick thoughts about the multiple entrances around Lionel castle, Zane would inform Alexis and Kris that they should explore the eastern side of the castle first and within seconds both girls agree with him before directly heading towards the eastern entrance door.
Once Zane and his group had gotten inside the castle, they would immediately notice more scattered dead corpses all over the place. Most of the dead corpses were either maidens, servants or mages and they had gotten the same treatment like the ones that were outside but only this time it was much worse as you could notices some guts, organs and piles of blood mostly everywhere. Shortly after looking at the gruesome site, Alexis covered her mouth and became rather surprised that whoever had done this to them did not take any chances of letting anyone out of the castle.
Alexis: *uncovers her mouth* Even the maiden's and servants too ? Are they barbarians ?
Kris: *Goes to Look at one of the Dead mages* I don't know about that one Alexis, if they were barbarians why are there bite and scratch marks on these corpses like this one ?
Alexis: *Heads over to Kris and starts looking at the same dead mage as Kris is* I don't understand...if they are not barbarians, what are they and why are they helping us at a time like this ? *Alexis kneels down to check the vital signs on the dead mage.* Zane, this one is like the other one you had checked outside, he just died not too long ago.
Zane: *Appears to be slightly surprised from Alexis's response* If what your saying is correct Alexis, this is strange. Lets continue exploring this place for more evidence.
Alexis & Kris : Right !
Once this conversation was over, Zane and his group would head directly towards the Library first since it was the closest room and once they had approached the room, There was more bodies scattered around just like the other two areas but it was even more worse since there was more bloodshed on the floor than the last. Since they were also in the library, Alexis would immediately head towards one of the bookcases to look at the magic tomes for a quick second before trying to look for the person responsible for this mess while Kris began investigating the bodies in the library for more evidence. As for Zane, he would look around the library just like Alexis and Kris until he notices a critically injured enemy male archer taking very heavy breaths while leaning and sitting there by one of the bookcases. As soon as the archer notices him, he tries to call out to him but instead coughs out blood. Zane becomes rather surprised about all of this and rushes towards the archer to see if he could get anything from him.
Zane: *Approaches and kneels towards the male archer* Hey are you still able to speak ?
Archer: *Coughs more blood before speaking* Y-yes...You got-got to get out of here..
Zane: I don't think so, we came here to take over this castle for the king's sake.
Archer: Y-you d-don't understand...it's t-too dangerous here....run before I-it's too late...
Zane: I will not.
Archer: *His mouth starts drooling blood as he continues talking and he instantly grabs Zane's chest with one hand weakly* I-I'm dead F*&!ing s-serious ! R-run before they get you !
*Alexis quickly notices Zane and the archer were having a conversation so she instantly stands by Zane's side to listen*
Zane: *Confused* Who will get me ?
*Before the archer would give out his conversation, his eyes begin to fade away.*
Archer: T-the Cani- *Before he got the chance to finish his sentence, the hand that was holding Zane's chest drops to the ground and the archer dies right on the spot from blood loss.
Right after the archer had gave out his final response, Zane stands back up and looks directly towards Alexis. It wouldn't take much longer until she too gives off a response.
Alexis: *Appears to be curious* What was all that about ?
Zane: *Frowns for a moment* Honestly I don't know but whatever his problem was is now ours to deal with from the way he had said it.
Alexis: *Also frowns too for a moment.* Hmm I see, so now what should we do ?
What should Zane do ?
A: Investigate The other rooms with just Alexis. Kris should be able to handle herself alone in the library since she knows how to defend herself quite well despite her being a cleric.
B. Investigate the other rooms with Alexis and Kris. It might be too risky to split up.
C. Continue investigating the library for more clues.

That archer is going to come back to life. That's either a really good thing, or a really bad thing.
Possible Pros: we learn that there are zombies.
We may learn how to kill zombies.
Possible cons:
Anyone in the room may get bitten.
The Kris may die.
I retract my vote.
If we pick C, does Kris still go off by herself? And if we pick C, does Alexis search the other rooms by herself? Because if so, then that will affect my answer.

Note: Looks like "C" is our winner this time. Sorry I wasn't able to update this particular CYOA in a long time. I had to take some time thinking how to write this next part and of course I had to work long hours at work so I hope you guys can understand the situation I was in.
Zane: We should continue investigating for more clues here in the library Alexis, I would rather not take the chances of splitting up and leaving Kris here along with whatever might attack us.
Alexis: *Smiles with a reason* Well okay then Zane, I'll continue investigating around with Kris.
Shortly after Alexis had given off her response, she walks away to go join up with Kris to see what she is up to now while Zane on the other hand would continue investigating the dead archer's body some more. Just like all the others, this man also has some pretty deep bite marks on him. Zane sighed for a moment and decided to take the archer's bow and a quiver with a few arrows he had left on him since he didn't bother brining his own bow before heading over here to investigate. Moments after taking the bow Zane would hear some moaning coming from behind so he would turn around and notice one of the Male enemy knights approaching from a distance slowly while taking one of his arms to reach out towards him.
As the Enemy knight continue approaching Zane would now take the same bow he had taken from the archer and started aiming towards the knight's heart and hit it dead on....but that did not stop the knight from getting closer to Zane.
Zane: *Has a serious look while takes out yet another arrow* Impossible...that was dead on. How is he still standing ?
Enemy Knight: *Moans*
As soon as the knight got closer, Zane got to see the full detail of him and quickly became surprised of what he was looking at. Zane was already looking at a dead moving corpse with so many bite marks on him ! Without any hesitations, Zane began shooting a couple more arrows but none of them were quite effective until Zane shot him in the head with his last arrow. Immediately after the dead knight took an arrow to the head, it finally fell. Right after the knight has fallen, Zane would immediately turn directly towards the dead archer's corpse and look at it before giving out his own response towards it.
Zane: *Frowns* So that's what you were talking about. I believe you now and may you rest in peace.
Once this response has been given, Zane immediately drops the bow and quiver and runs to go and find Alexis and Kris quickly to warn them of what he had just experienced. Just as Zane has found them, he would notice yet another dead corpse but only this time, it was directly heading towards Alexis and Kris.
Zane: Alexis, quickly burn the body with your magic ! They are not alive anymore !
Kris:*Quickly notices Zane* Wait what ? What do you mean !?!
Alexis:*Also notices Zane but quickly understands before casting her spell away towards the dead corpse*
Right after the spell was casted, the dead corpse was now going into flames before turning into ashes and Zane would finally approach Alexis and Kris closely to give out the full details of what he had just experienced himself for a good solid two minutes before Kris and Alexis understand the situation they are now in.
Kris: *Frustrated* Great....just great...What should we do now Zane ? There might be more coming right after us soon.
Alexis: I...I don't believe it so that's what's after us now ? This isn't good.
Just as Zane was about to give out his response, All three would quickly notice that some of the dead corpses were beginning to get back up from the ground. This of course would also surprise all of them since they now know that once your dead....you become one of them.
What should Zane and his group do now since this situation is now turning bad ?
A. Try to make a run for it back to the campsite even though there is now a lot of corpses now that will be after them. Reporting the information to the captain is top priority after all. B. Try to fight them off and hope for the best that more do not approach the Library. C. Try to run and find a safe hiding spot in the castle until those things lose interest.

This deserves a bump as I had gotten no response yet from this CYOA. Also I want to point out that I am trying my best to be on more often on this site even though my RL job is preventing me to do so and I will be updating my other CYOA real soon !
