You take your scalpel and begin to excise the shrunken lobes. A quick circle and they come free. You grab the remnants with the forceps and toss them onto the collection tray. A few small pools of blood are left, and the patient's vitals decreased slightly, but the damage is nowhere near as bad as your first attempt.
"Chiral reaction is continuing to decrease," Shepherd announces. "Your treatment seems to be working."
As you suction off the blood, the remaining lobes tighten up, again forming a tight cluster. You manage to count them - after the three you just removed, six remain.
Just as Kelly finishes suturing the lacerations, another tendril snakes its way out of the center of the GUILT. At the same time, three more aneurysms appear. One is just behind the tendril's position, and another is almost directly opposite the tendril. The third is between the others. "At least we have some breathing room," you think to yourself. As if sensing your relief, the tendril begins moving forward - this one's a bit quicker than the first one. You... think you can get all the aneurysms out before it reaches them...
"Looks like Gladari's not going down without a fight," Jeremy comments.

You ask Kelly to begin another round of stabilizer while preparing a dose of constrictor. While she begins injecting the gel, you stab the closest aneursym with constrictor. It shrinks to a manageable size, and you quickly cut it out with the scalpel. Since Gladari's tendril didn't seem to react to the other broken aneurysms, you leave the excised bulge in place to stop the bleeding while you start working on the other two.
You cut out the second, pulling it free and draining the blood beneath. A grab with the forceps and a quick suture seals the wound. The tendril's getting close, but you still think you can outpace it. As you expected, the tendril doesn't react to the excised aneurysm you left in place. Kelly continues to dutifully inject stabilizer.
You constrict and cut the last aneurysm. You wait for the tendril to pass, then extract it and seal the blood vessel. You move to the other aneurysm and pull the excised tissue free, draining the blood that pools and closing the cut.
"Hey!" Kelly gasps. "The syringe broke...!?"
"I'll get another right away," Lily tells her.
Another aneurysm begins to form, a mere quarter-rotation ahead of the tendril.

Kelly holds the tendril with the forceps while you remove the aneurysm. As soon as you finish, she lets the tendril go. Once again, it flails wildly before slowing and resuming its rotation.

You prepare the constrictor and inject it into the mass. Three of the six lobes shrink considerably. The tendril doesn't respond.
Kelly begins injecting stabilizer with another syringe.
The intercom cuts in, and Jeremy makes an announcement. "Good news, everyone! I've just received word that the Caduceus emergency response team will be arriving much sooner than anticipated."
"How much sooner?" Kelly calls back as she stabs the needle into the patient.
"They were extremely fortunate and managed to get their hands on a helicopter. They're landing now, actually."
"What!?" you ask. "Then... we didn't need to operate?"
"...It was the right choice with what we knew at the time," Alice assures you. "Just focus on keeping the patient alive for now... Whether that means destroying the GUILT or taking the defensive, I'll leave that up to you." Her tone clearly indicates she'd prefer the first option.

BGM: New Blood - Cardia II Version
You tell Kelly to prepare another vial of constrictor while you begin excising the shrunken lobes. The three come off easily, leaving small pools of blood which you quickly suction. "Chiral reaction's dropped a bit more," Shep announces. Again, the tendril flails wildly for a few seconds, but it finds no aneurysms to rupture and returns to its slow state. As Gladari's last three lobes cluster in a tight triangle, another tendril shoots out directly opposite the second. The two circle Gladari, just a bit quicker than before. "Another tendril?" Lily asks. "You need to get rid of those tendrils, or they'll probably keep accumulating!" Alice calls out over the intercom. "The scalpel worked before, so get to it!" "Yeah, and what was left of the tendril went flailing around the intestines, slashing them to ribbons! I think it might be better to just deal with the aneurysms..." you reply. "Figure out a way to immobilize the thing, then cut it! There's two of you in there, this isn't rocket science!" Alice responds angrily. Kelly injects Gladari's body with constrictor. The three lobes constrict. Four aneurysms appear in the operation field. You know you won't be able to get them all out in time yourself. Even with Kelly helping, it's questionable... Patient Vitals: 72 Stable Gladari is vulnerable 2 tendrils are out Four aneurysms are present
With reinforcements here, you now have the option to abandon the operation with at least 3 unanimous votes. Suffice to say, abandoning the operation is preferable to failure...

If there's two of you...
You take the forceps and grab one of the tendrils. "Dr. Powell, if you would be so kind?" you request.
Kelly grabs a scalpel and slashes the base of the tendril. It starts to flail wildly as before, but you manage to keep a hold of it. As you place it on the collection tray, the other tendril slashes one of the aneurysms. You grab it with the forceps before it can hit another. Kelly follows up with the scalpel. You nearly lose hold of it, but manage to get it over the collection tray before it wriggles free.
Jeremy's voice comes over the speaker. "Nurse Brown, could you meet me in the prep room?"
Lily looks confused for a moment, then excuses herself.

"Dr. Powell," you say, glancing at the burst aneurysm.
"Right," she answers, already beginning to extract the burst aneurysm without being told.
As you tend the aneurysms, you keep a close watch on Gladari. As you finish the second aneurysm, Kelly assists you with the third. As you inject the constrictor, she prepares a scalpel and begins cutting. As the two of you finish treating the final aneurysm, Gladari sprouts another tendril. An aneurysm forms nearly an entire rotation away from it. Lily enters the prep room. A pair of unknown doctors are waiting for her. One, a short, dark-haired man with a sharp-toothed smile, greets her with a small nod. The other, a tall woman with a pair of long twintails and unusually long legs, greets her with an enthusiastic smile.
"You're the nurse, right?" the woman asks. "Dr. Gale Webster, at your service! We're your backup. Y'know, from Caduceus? The ones you were supposed to wait for?"
"...The patient's condition took a turn for the worse, and you weren't due for a good while," Lily answers. "Lily Brown, by the way. And your friend?"
The man opens his mouth to speak, but Gale cuts him off. "That's Guts McDoog." The man gives an annoyed growl. "Sorry, Dr. McDoog," Gale corrects herself.
"Right..." Lily says. "I assume you want to take over the operation?"
"Nope!" Gale answers. "You guys are handling it pretty well so far, and tagging out mid-operation can be a bit tricky. specially when GUILT's involved. You wouldn't believe how far out of hand things can get if you let up for even a few seconds." The smile vanishes from her face. "Especially with that damnable Triti..." she mutters under her breath. Her smile quickly returns, and she continues cheerfully. Anyway, we'll step in if you really need us to, but otherwise, we'll just take an... um... advisory role from out there." Guts nods in agreement.
"Understood," Lily responds. "If that's all you need, I should return to my duties."
"Oh, right. Present for you!" Gale says, pulling a scalpel out of her pocket. "We brought a few experimental toys with us, and from what Ol' Quinn's been telling us about this GUILT, you'll want to try our new-and-improved super-scalpel!"
"...Super-scalpel?" Lily asks.
"It has some fancy, technical name that our boring ol' R&D guys gave it, but who cares what it's proper name is? The point is, it should cut through GUILT all snicker-snack!"
"Right, then. I'll deliver it. Anything else?"
"Hm... Don't let them kill the patient!" Gale suggests. Lily stares at her blankly. "Oh, something useful, then?" Gale continues. "Uh... Remember that when GUILT's backed into a corner, it tends to pull out some dirty trick or another. So be ready!"
