"Lemme give Spence a call," Mike said pulling out his phone, "he'd know something about the lockers."
Then he thought for a bit.
"Zachi, see if Sparkles knows anything about the mission. Do you have her number?"
Zachi nodded and dialed, as Mike did the same. He listened to it ring.
*beeeeeep*
*beeeeeep*
*beeeeee-*
"...Hello?"
"Spencer? It's Mike."
"Oh hey. Um, before you talk, warning..."
"What?"
"The Noise don't like phone calls too much. They start crowding. Make it quick."
That would have been nice to know earlier!
"Oh snap, I didn't know! Fast, yeah, where'd you get the locker?"
"Hall behind the food court. Near the washrooms. It says employees only but you can walk right in. You have to pop a lock on the actual locker though. We can come show you. Where are you?"
"Cool, thanks man. Um...we're outside the mall right now, at the front entrance..."
Mike stopped when he noticed the call was dead. He looked up at Zachi who seemed to have the same problem.
"Line's dead." She said.
"Mine too," Mike replied, "Maybe we should stick to texting." He looked around. Noise weren't visible in the real world, but he kept an eye out for signs. If yesterday was any indication...
"She said she's as clueless as we are." Zachi told Mike.
"What?"
"Sparkles. I asked her about the mission. Like you ordered me to."
...really? Really?
"Let's not start this again, ok? Please?" Mike turned to Zachi, but then blinked and thought, "Wait...no, never mind that's just the Noise alarm."
"Noise alarm?" Zachi inquired.
Mike continued "We get on edge when there's a lot of Noise around. Like yesterday before we fought that huge thing remember?"
"...the phone calls attract Noise don't they?"
"Yeah." Mike answered.
"I knew it." She said with satisfaction in her voice.
"Well why didn't you say something!" Mike said, catching his voice before raising it too far. "We should sort us out," he continued, "For the record I wanna work well together..." But he trailed off when he noticed Zachi was ignoring him and had her pen out, in her fighting pose.
"Are we gonna fight some Noise or what?" She said. Then added, "Discussion in this state would not be effective since your emotions are being altered. For the record my intentions are never to upset you."
A) Fight some Noise B) Try to discuss things anyways C) Just head into the mall now and try to find a locker D) Other

Mike nodded.
"Thanks. Alright yeah, let's fight. After yesterday I could definitely go for some violence. Hand me a bat."
Mike took a bat. They hit their player pins.
...my god that dress is the... ...late! Late! So late! Come... ...insane because I'm frowning.... ...fire me for all I care. I'm not... ...break up. I gotta tell him that...
He shook himself. Now's not the time to be reading thoughts. There aren't many people around anyways...and this atmosphere was getting kind of depressing. As Noise sigils began fading into view, Mike said spoke up again.
"Wait, Zachi."
"Hm?"
"Let me initiate this time. Never done it before."
"Oh. Sure. I usually take 2 or 3."
The air was filled with small sigils, similar to the ones that spawned frogs in their very first fight. There was at least 10 of them crowding around. Mike glanced at one, and it suddenly started to glow. He didn't know exactly how he did it, but it began to deposit frog creatures as expected. What he didn't expect is that before that sigil vanished, all the other sigils nearby rushed for the one currently open, and began using it as a funnel to pump out more noise. The more distant ones faded off, but the immediate crowd managed to conglomerate. A small river of small tadpole Sprogs accompanied by at least two dozen Frogs hopped out before the sigils faded out entirely.
"That's new!" Mike yelped.
"Oh my god." Zachi said, faster than usual.
"Blow em up! Blow em up!" Mike yelled as he got in front of Zachi ready to shield.
"Don't block my view." Zachi nudged Mike to see the advancing flood. She quickly slathered the ground in front of them with ink. That halted the advance, momentarily, since once the ink was sufficiently covered by sprogs, the frogs used them as stepping stones to cross unimpeded. Zachi needed no second cue to blow them all sky high.
Except over the bursting explosion and the croaking of croaking Sprogs, Mike saw some spherical objects hurtle out of the explosion in their direction. Mike's force field came up just in time to deflect them, bouncing them back the way they came into the smoke. When the smoke cleared, he could see what remained. About six purple Frog Noises remained, simply standing in place.
"Woah. Those guys are tough." Mike commented.
"New species," Zachi said, checking her phone, "Bubgumfrogs."
The new Frogs advanced, hopping towards them.
"I need time to reload." Zachi noted.
"Get somewhere safe." Mike suggested.
"I think I'm safest next to you." She noted again.
Three of the frogs spat a frothing stream of bubbles in their direction, which from Mike's experience seriously stung, while the other three looked like they were preparing to pounce.
A) Zachi stays close, Mike tanks with force field. B) Zachi to take cover, Mike stands ground as distraction. C) Zachi to takes cover, Mike goes on the offensive. D) Other

In the face of oncoming attacks, Mike grabbed Zachi's arm to pull her closer. Zachi instinctively snapped him off, but in the face of oncoming attacks, leaned up on him anyways.
Mike's swirling force field sprang up to protect the pair from the bubble attacks, which harmlessly popped upon contact. They expected the frogs leaping at them to harmlessly bounce off as well but instead, bubbles encased them just before they hit the grinding barrier. Instead of bouncing off, the bubbled frogs hit the shield and were shot off in all directions, their bubbles turning them into ribbitting projectile spheres of energy. They ricocheted away and bounced off a tree, a wall, and a stop sign, careening in for a second strike as their fellow frogs leapt in to join them.
"Down!" Zachi yelled, grabbing Mike and pulling him to the ground. He deactivated Burnt Rubber while they dropped and rolled to dodge in opposite directions. As the three bubbled frogs collided into each other, their bubbles popped, sending them sprawling to the side and hitting the ground. Zachi wasted no time in righting her vision, and slashed her pen to ink them in place. Unfortunately it recharged a moment too late, and the frogs were back on their feet before Zachi was.
Mike got to his feet. Checking Burnt Rubber, there's maybe a few more seconds of juice left in it, but that wasn't the priority at the moment. He dashed through four frogs to Zachi's side, ramming them with Velocity Attack as he went. That latter part probably wasn't a very good idea, since again, the frogs bubbled the instant before any harm came to them, and Mike's dash simply rocketed them off like a pool cue hitting the break. Mike held out a helping hand up, but Zachi elected to stay down, since the frogs didn't seem to be able to change the altitude of their trajectory and lying flat would stay out of their range. Instead, she pointed at the two un-bubbled frogs about to spit their foam breath at them. Mike elected to not give them the chance and dashed into them, forcing them to absorb his blow with bouncing bubble barriers and sending them flying away. Unfortunately, the air was now so thick with flying frogs that Mike couldn't help but get blindsided by one coming up on his left. The impact knocked the wind out of him and tossed him into a nearby wall. It wasn't pleasant but it wasn't the worst hit he'd taken. Although he had to use the last of Burnt Rubber to make some room to breathe, he managed to get prone, like Zachi was, and let the croaking pinball machine play out above his head.
"Any plans?!" Mike called out over the ribbetting.
"Hit them into each other," Zachi called out, "It pops them!"
Mike gripped his baseball bat, but then noted that this would be like hitting a dodgeball into another dodgeball while still dodging all the other dodgeballs.
"I don't know about you, but I'm not a precision batter!"
"Hit one straight up then?" She suggested, "Maybe they wear out after a while."
"Or what if I pinned one to a wall?" Mike also suggested.
"That one could hurt you though."
...it'd save me the embarrassment of sucking at baseball...

A. Also, definitely, definitely not B. We've got enough to worry about with them moving on 2 axes, we don't need a third in the mix.

Mike gritted his teeth..
Alright, batter up...
He watched the frogs swirl with no apparent rhyme or reason besides the fact they were heading in mostly straight lines. Which didn't seem to make sense to him.
"Uh, Zachi?"
"Yeah?"
"There's six of them! If they're bouncing randomly, shouldn't they have hit each other by now?"
She seemed to be doing some rough calculations.
"Definitely. They can steer. Or the bubbles repel each other to keep them from hitting accidentally."
So even if I'm on target...great.
"I'm gonna try to cause a collision. If I score this home run make sure you catch it!" He said, mis-using baseball metaphor completely, and quickly jumping to his feet when he got a glimpse of an opening. There was likely something coming up behind him, but he was focused on the frog in front of him and the other frog behind it...
And then it clicked. He prepared to swing and spun in place, triggering Rushdown, aiming to hit the oncoming frog from behind as opposed to head on. He swung and was rushed forwards to the frog's side, where his swing smashed the bubble in the direction he came, making it fly forwards at triple speed. He sent it careening towards the two that were indeed coming up behind him. He dropped back to the ground for cover the moment he felt it fly away, leaving the aftermath of the swing to Zachi.
He heard a click. He heard a boom. He felt heat. That was promising.
"Got two of them!" Zachi called out. Mike rolled over to get a better look. The air was slightly less filled now, with only four frogs flying through the air.
Well if it worked once...
Mike stood up suddenly and called out, "Come and get me!"
The three remaining frogs ricocheted about before setting up their trajectory towards Mike. Come for him they did...in formation. They formed a helix as their bubbles swirled through the air with an electric glow, looking not only faster and stronger, but very difficult to differentiate from one another. Mike thought about how to swing at them for a bit, but then realized that bit was taking too long, so he dove to get out of the way. The frog helix passed by, hit a wall, and split back up into three separate bubbles.
"Why are they learning!" Mike called out.
Zachi didn't respond. Mike was hoping she was thinking.
"Brainstorm out loud!" He called again.
Zachi did so. "I can cause an explosion beneath them. That could disrupt the formation, seperate two off for you to hit, or it could just send them skyward."
Mike added to the discussion "What if I hit them just before they make formation? I mean, they get close to each other by themselves. Rushdown can get me there."
"Or your bike," Zachi added, nodding to Mike's bike still chained to the rack by the mall entrance, "Could you keep up with them while on it?"
Mike remembered how fast he could move while on it, "Probably. But I'll have to unlock it before they over take me."
"I'll be your diversion then."
Mike didn't really like that idea.
A) Go for the bike. B) Rushdown attack just before formation. C) Blow up their formation. D) Other
