First of all let's get one thing straight sweetheart, while this may be the most advanced we have ever been in the sciences and understanding the structure of our history, it's also the most polluted the earth's been, the most resources we have ever competed for, the most danger it's been in after the nuclear arms race, the most health problems we have ever recorded in recent years (and though this is mostly the result of a lack of knowledge on our ancestors part it is also due to newly manufactured hazards and the constant evolution of certain viruses and bacteria and an ever growing population as well as global communications), and the most commercialized. Having everything be conveniently available has a price. To change the face of the world would require a hell of a lot more than potential, so don't feed me that you can be anything and everything line. I get that enough from my mom. But I understand my station in life as well as my available tools enough to know that the doors to the high life won't just open for me without incredible luck. Luckily for me I'm easily satisfied and care not for money as evidence by my frivolous spending habits whenever I get some spare dough. And to further exemplify that optimism, the solution to the pollution problem exist, as well as peace, as well as further understanding our bodies and how diseases affect them, as well as not summing up people to commodities and statistics. But none of that happens until many factors come into play, which I believe we are capable of. We are capable of saying, "No" to systems that try to marginalize us into profits and going our own path, hence why I can say "Well f*** your standards and policy it's my choice" and celebrate a day like Valentine's day without care.

So yes some systems do need a change, but consider the other side of the coin. Divorce is now cheaper for the lower to middle class, arranged marriages are less prominent and thus less obligation to stay together, women have more rights (Which can be interpreted many ways, I like most young people, see it as good), and marriage in of itself is no longer viewed as a religious sacrament, but as a societal norm. It's definitely not what it used to be. Also consider this, those 50% of divorces, are all people in a circumstance they wish to change. It is not just an abstract number, it's a representation of people who may want a separation for any number of reasons, which can be both good and bad depending on perspective. And what you describe is the worst of it (Well it could be worse, but isolated incidents are isolated for a reason). Sometimes those are justifiable like if the father is a pedophile or there are mental health issues or finances were better off separate, but do to terrible and outdated tax codes had to be put together. The world encompasses more than just that, there's also happy families who stick together, and civil divorces where the people remain friends and kids who turn their negative energy into something positive. Yeah there's a lot of scumbags and b****** who ruin each others lives and create more issues than a kid should ever have, but that is not all there is to see. Now my parents may still be together, but I've seen so many rocky marriages and divorces in the family it should of brought down my expectations if not outright killed them, but it hasn't. Also, Also, who spends every second of every day with the same person? Just cause someone is your spouse doesn't mean you smother each other until the fiery passions burn a hole in between you two, it means there's someone to care when you feel alone, someone to come home to, someone to make things brighter even if it's just their company, etc. Now my views are hardly ever the norm, so it should go without saying that all this is perspective on ideas examined from the prism of a human mind. But I can agree that there are many traditions that people may leave behind and would be better for it. After all there are many archetypes people and systems I tend to look upon with unfavorable thoughts, so I'm not one to try and say somethings perfect when the concept of perfection is so abstract it might as well just be opinion.

And I'm done rambling. I said I'd respond and I did. Now hopefully sleep will come to me. Hopefully very soon, I have a doctor's appointment in the morning.
