"Jam and sisters of course!" She happily exclaims. "Rhynn lead to dinner by sister Rhea. Professor not remember?"

"Rhea?" the professor questioned both himself and Pearl. "Rhea. I don't remember any Rhea."
He hasn't tried to dissect her yet. That's strange. Must still be suffering from that fog that Alucard had.
"Professor, what can you tell us about werebats?" Arcturus inquired of the senile teacher.
"Well, they're about two meters tall in bat form, but they're pretty light and fragile so that they can fly." Rhynn responded with a much clearer tone and expression. "If bitten by one, you will contract nychteridanthropy and will become a werebat within a day, much similar to lycanthropy. They have poor eyesight, so they rely on echolocation, much like the creature they are named after. Also, they have the ability to spit large globs of mucus that they use to adhere their prey to cave walls. If their pray is human, they may often try to rape it before eating it headfirst."
We didn't need to know that.
"However, they do have a repulsion to heat and light." Rhynn continued as he stood up and walked closer to Arcturus with a cane. "Specifically, fire and holy Magicks. Having a Type-1 would be useful, as they can also cure nychteridanthropy before the victim fully turns. Too bad they're so rare. There isn't even one at this academy that I know of."

As grossed out as she was from hearing about the werebats, she had something to prove her claim. She shifts into her water form. "See professor? Jam not have Rhea long tail, but Jam still become water! Jam is nymph."

"What are you talking about?" Rhynn spoke dumbfoundedly as he had completely forgotten their introductory exchange. "Anyways, that's about it."
"Can you tell me anything about the weaknesses of metal golems?" Arcturus pushed Pearl back a little as he asked Rhynn.
"Well, remember that golems are just natural versions of our constructs, so they share the same weaknesses and strengths." the professor replied as he began to shuffle back to his leather chair. "All golems mimic another form of life, and their cores are where that creature's heart would be. Destroy the core, and the golem is destroyed. Alternatively, you could melt or corrode the elemental steel that comprises the golem's body, but destroying the core is the best way. However, you can also deactivate the core by having a Type-7 release a blast of mana with a matching wavelength to the core to cancel the mana that powers the golem out, preserving it indefinitely."
"Thank you Professor Rhynn." Arcturus told him as he bowed in respect. "Anyways, Pearl, it's time for us to go. It is almost lunch time."
He walked halfway out of the door, beckoning the nymph to follow him.

"Like that! See sister lead like that!" Seeing that the conversation was going nowhere, she stormed out the room. Slamming the door shut as she exit. Reverting back to her physical form to avoid becoming boiling mad, she follows Arcturus angrily. "School have too many liar."

"He's not lying." Arcturus told her as he placed his index finger over her lips to quiet her. "He seems ill. He's probably suffering from shock, or else he would have had you lying on an examination table by now. Anyways, the dining hall is this way. I used a time-displacement spell to slow down our relative time. It may have seemed like a few minutes to us, but in fact it was several hours for everyone else. It might extend the time before I turn to stone."
He grabbed Pearl's hand again and walked into the dining hall, taking a seat near the entrance so they could spy on Elia when she arrived.

I hate this already. Everyone stares at me when they hear I'm a Type-1 mage, and then they expect me to do something. I hate it!
Elia had managed to survive about half of her classes, and was now supposed to eat lunch.
I can still remember what she said this morning as if it was only a minute ago. 'If you are late for lunch or refuse to eat, we'll make sure you'll learn to appreciate each meal that's offered to you.' Would they really starve me just because I didn't do what they wanted...?
She kept her head down as she entered the dining hall, and tried not to pay attention to the other people around her. Snd took a plate of vegatables and sat down as close to the door as she could, planning on leaving as soon as they were dismissed.
Despite being very hungry, Elia was too distracted to eat at first. She almost dropped her fork into the floor because her hands were still shaking so badly. Embarassed and continuing to suffer in silence, she lowered her head even more and forced herself to start eating.

"Look master. Elia worse than before." She whispers into Arcturus ear. "What should we do?"

"Let's go sit by her and try to cheer her up." Arcturus whipsered back. "Everyone's staring at her, but they aren't stares of worriedness or care. It's like they're sizing her up for a competition. Anyways, let's go get some food before we sit down next to her. She looks like she's having trouble eating this food, so it must be new to her."
And it's not just the food she's having trouble with.
He sat up and pulled Pearl with him towards the serving bar and received platters with roasted chicken and steamed greens before walking over to Elia.
"Do you mind if we sit here?" he tried asking her in the softest manner he could.

"No, that's fine," was all Elia said as she desperately tried to keep her hands from shaking.
It's no good... and at this rate, someone will find out about things before the day is even over.

"Hey, are you alright?" Arcturus said as he noticed her hand trembling. "You seem like you're about to burst into tears. I know it might not be easy adjusting to somewhere you've never been, but it'll be alright."
Hopefully this doesn't set her off.

Jam places her hand on Elia's forehead. "Nope. Not fever. Elia look healthty. So why have heavy heart? Jam promise not tell anyone."

Elia was caught off guard by Arcturus' comment, and didn't do anything for a moment.
That's... so kind. Does he actually care about a stranger like me?
Elia wanted to know if he did, so she looked into his eyes, with her own starting to tear up. His eyes were honest, and gentle.
Should I tell him that she was right, and was telling the truth? Could I escape this fate with their help?
Within seconds Elia heard someone walk up and sit down in the empty seat on the other side of her. Before she could turn to see who it was, a hand gently lowered her hood, revealing the girl with brown eyes and a very long blonde braid.
"I saw the coat, and I knew it had to be you."
No... I don't think I can. We need to play along with things for now...
Elia turned to Jacob and a smile crossed her face for the first time that day. He saw her trembling hands and took them in his own, before examining Arcturus and Jam.
"Jacob," Elia said with a smile, as she began to calm down.
He smiled back at her, and then his attention went back to Arcturus.
"That would be my name. What's your's?" he asked Arcturus as he extended a hand to him, although the look in his eyes didn't match his friendly demeanor at all.

"Arcturus Galatine, at your service." he shook Jacob's hand firmly and with the grin of sport on his face.
He then turned back to the girl and his smile turned back into a much warmer one.
"I never caught your name." he told her as he retracted his hand. "You've already seem to have met Pearl, so no need for introductions there."

Jacob took Elia's hands within his once again, and softly stroked them as she intorduced herself, seemingly not worried in the least.
"She's right, my name is Elia. But she seems to be confusing me with someone else," said Elia, for once not having to think about how to respond.
That was much easier. Like the words I was about to look for were right there on the tip of my tongue all along.

Why can't you just tell the truth so I can help you? What are you hiding from me?
"Well, pleased to meet you Elia." Arcturus spoke before placing a small bite of chicken into his mouth. "What brings you here to Grangold? I had a friend yesterday who told me that they had to go through quite a bit to enroll you."
Well, he didn't tell me directly, but if it gets her to tell us more...

Jam sighs in defeat. "Fine, Elia deny know Jam, Professor not know Rhea, only person acknowledge Jam is mystery cloak. Master when we leave to fight golem?" Her question comes out a little muffled as she began to devour the savory roast chicken.

Elia was once again caught off guard by Jam's comment, but Jacob just gripped her hand a little tighter, helping her to remain calm.
"I'm sorry if I was rude earlier, Pearl. I didn't mean to be like that."
"And to answer your question," Jacob said as he turned to Arcturus, "We lived in Dalthia, a small kingdom on the border of the Cleatian Empire and Jorkun Pact. It wasn't easy to get someone to notice you when you live that far away. And then there were... trust issues, so to say. Elia's parents were especially reluctant to agree, due to distance and political differences between our kingdom and the empire."
He's so much better at this than I am. Luckily, it seems some of that talent rubs off on me whenever he's around.

"Now, more importantly..." Arcturus continued questioning Elia, his expression turning from caring to almost sadistic. "What type of mage are you?"
This is the dealbreaker.
Wait, what am I doing? I'm trying to help her, but I feel like I'm enjoying this. What's going on with me? Is it the curse?

Elia just sighed.
See, he isn't interested in helping unless he can benefit from it. We have to play along with things...
"Type-1," she said simply.
