It'd be cooler if late game Trail was like Fomortiis and took up half the screen. You kinda just stumbled upon something... But yeah, Endgame Trail will be like the Fire Dragon from FE7, and will take up most of the screen. Although... This is where things get tricky. Modding FE8 would probably be easier all around, but there's no giant dragon sprite(like FE7) and no Idoun(like FE6). And we can't have a UB game without Idoun in all her glory. So, it might be better for me to mod FE6, since in FE6, there are already working Manaketes. And Idoun. This way, Trail's Endgame form would be a palette swap of Idoun.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be difficult to put either sprite in the FE8 mod once you actually got a hold of the sprite. Just like how it's not unheard of to put in your own custom sprites. And I can guarantee you the sprites are available, so getting the sprite isn't a worry.

And I can guarantee you the sprites are available, so getting the sprite isn't a worry. How would I go about putting Idoun's dragon sprite in the FE8 modules? And would it be possible to do the same for FE7? I'm still just learning how to use Nightmare, and the walkthrough I'm using, while extremely helpful, is geared towards FE7. So I would prefer to mod FE7, but I'll need a working battle sprite and animation for Idoun, as well as Trail and the other dragons. Idoun's sprite would be the same from FE6, and the Manakete sprites would be the same from FE8. If I can put all that into FE7, then that would be perfect. I just need to learn how. Also, I could really use some custom sprites, if you're willing to make them.

I certainly could make them. TBH, they're not exceptionally hard to make either, tech-wise at least. You can use Microsoft Paint for a lot of it as long as you zoom in enough, though I dunno what file type the game would use. And you would need to find Idoun's dragon sprite first. From the looks of it, her sprite sheet is oddly pieced together, which kinda makes sense when I think about it. www.feplanet.net/media/sprites/6/battle/sheets/enemy/idoun_darkdragon_breath.gifI don't know off-hand, but it should involve just making a similar file path akin to the ones already set into place. I know for a fact people have made custom sprites for their hacks on SF.

All rrrrighty then, I've decided to do a FE7 hack of UB, instead of using VX Ace. I'm currently learning how to mod, but I'm gonna need a lot of help from you guys. Anyone who wants in on the project, and contributes to the game's development will receive their username(or real name if preferred) in the credits and a little something extra for me.
Now, this game will be huge. It will easily be the largest FE hack ever assembled, so it's going to take a while. And while I'm mastering the basics of modding and playing around with Nightmare, I'm going to need a team working on Custom Sprites and Portraits.
The positions I need:
Chief Artwork Designer(He/She will be in charge of coordinating the other members of the team, creating custom Sprites/Portraits, and getting them onto the web)
Executive Designer(The XO of the Design Team, who will take charge if the Chief is too busy)
Third Artwork Designer
Fourth Artwork Designer(Optional)
Sound Director*(Look for and suggest suitable themes)
*I will be using as much of the Official Soundtrack as I can, but I may run into problems with importing some music*
If you can only do sprites that's fine, but I'll need someone to help draw portraits as well, because my own drawing skills aren't up to the task. If you know someone who might be interested, send them here and I will provide the best character descriptions my writing ability allows. I will also give them links to reference pics online, for some of the characters. The pics won't be exact, but they'll be pretty darn close.
Now, just to you give you guys an idea as to the sheer enormity of this project... I will be using most(Unfortunately, not all) of the characters from UB. Every single one of them will need a Custom Portrait. However, only a few will need brand new Custom Sprites. Here is the list of those characters.
Trail(Both dragon form and human form) Kanis Ethan(I also need a masked version for Azrael) Ratatosk/Selena Jeckel(Both human and Dark One forms) Garm Leah Athena Freya Gallagher(And the Tactician/Grandmaster classes in general) Lazzy Eregor Aquarius Origin, the Creator Elucifer, the Fallen One(Tall, dark master of the Culture, remember?) Terra Nagi
And I think that's it... I'll get back to you if the list changes. I'm pretty sure I can use Nightmare to simply swap color palettes for some of these characters, so that will take a lot of the work out of it. If so, then I can just make Athena a Sage with silver hair, Freya a Myrmidon with red hair, etc.
I also need to find out how to import sprites and animations from other games, so I can use FE8 Manaketes and Dragonstones, and Idoun's sprite and animation from FE6. If I can do that, then I'll just use Ishtar's sprite for Athena. I also won't need any custom dragon sprites then.
Leah only needs a custom sprite for her Tier 2 Class, which is Shadow. I want it to look something like the female Assassin from Awakening.

Now, on to character selection. I have decided to completely edit out the 'Tales' in FE7, so there will be no Lyn Mode, Eliwood Mode, etc. This gives me much more freedom to work with, and it frees up a lot of game memory, which will allow me to add in even more chapters. Remember, there are 41 Story Chapters in the CYOA, and there will be 41 chapters in the game, excluding the Gaiden Chapters. Unfortunately, there won't be 2nd gen characters in the game, aside from Ethan and Rhia, and I'm going to have to change the Laguz.
So, for that reason, I'm going to ask who you guys want as the main protag of the game. You will have more choices here, then you did at the start of UB.
A: Trail B: Kanis C: Leah D: Freya E: Thorn F: Mithos G: Terra H: Artemis

Even though I can't help, I'll at least go with A. I like him as a character, and he wasn't born royalty or nobility. If we chose Kanis, I fear we'd be doing almost every single FE Lord all over again by being of nobility or royal blood. Don't take this as a insult, as she is very interesting personality wise.
Leah's also alright for me too. Nagi would be interesting, but I know more about Trail than I do her. Terra seems awesome, but I still need to finish the earlier parts of UB before I can make a verdict on her. Ethan would be neat, but gotta start with the father before the son, which is my code of telling a story.
It would be nice having a Wyvern Lord as well, I suppose. I don't know Artemis or Mithos. Freya reminds me a bit of Azura in the original EH, so her spot is taken.

I'm not going to start modding until I'm extremely familiar with Nightmare, and I have everything I need. I may even make a demo or small game to familiarize myself with the process first. Point is, it will be a while before the project really gets underway, so you have time. Can you do both sprites and portraits? Regardless, I want you as my Design Chief, if that's okay with you.

I don't know for certain, but from what I understand, the software I'm using to import music into Nightmare has a very difficult time working with music from other video games. So I may need someone to look through UB's Soundtrack and pick out alternate themes for the video game music.

I'm falling asleep here, so blame that. I am going to use Idoun's original sprite from FE6, the tricky part is programming her battle animation to work. Although that's only because I don't know how to do it yet, which I'll learn. That's why I didn't have Idoun's name on the custom list, cause I already have a sprite and portrait for her. Dayton is an old GF user, and the creator of one of the oldest FE CYOAs. I mentioned him cause he's also a member here, and a very talented sprite artist. He's just rarely never online is all.
