Hello guys, this is dragunovero, you might have known me as Dragunov_Zero on Gamefaqs. I left Gamefaqs because of family reasons but I learned about this site from a friend recently and thought I might as well use post a draft I had in the works before I left. I used to be an active CYOA participant during the 'golden age of CYOA' on Gamefaqs's Fire Emblem: Awakening Message Boards. That said, It's actually the first CYOA I've authored myself and I am not too familiar with the format this board employs so I hope it is to your taste and within the regulations of this board.
Extra Note: This CYOA is based off Fire Emblem: Awakening if you haven't guessed already =P CYOA: Primordial Words Prelude: The Book of OriginsOnce upon a time, the land of Aetherion was united under a single nation known as the Theocracy of Fortuna, which worshipped Crea, the Goddess of Birth and its people lived in peace and harmony.
But a rift arose as its people became divided on the question of how their own universe came to be. One side believed that it was the goddess they always worshiped who birthed it, while the other scoffed at the notion as a bad joke since the goddess herself denied being the creator of the cosmos in which Aetherion existed through her prophets and sacred texts seemed to point out to the same conclusion.
However, man is a being that is often incapable of living without the concept of a creator and/or a higher being watching their actions. In a reckless and selfish move, the ruling body of the Theocracy of Fortuna known as the Divine Council decreed that Crea was the goddess who created the universe as she was ascended to the position of creator deity, much to the dismay and disapproval of the goddess herself and went in direct contradiction with the sacred texts of the Theocracy and the words of prophets sent by the goddess to warn her people of this deceitful concept.
This arbitrary act of apotheosis widened the rift between the people of Aetherion even further and many people seceded themselves from the Theocracy to establish their own nations as a result. The largest of those nations was the Empire of Copernicus, which was at first a multi-national alliance established in direct opposition to the Theocracy of Fortuna but later turned into a cruel tyranny that annexed smaller nations through the use of force under the pretext of ‘disillusioning them about the lies of the theocracy’.
Over the ages, many dissensions between the two superpowers arose, but never did an all-out war break out between the two countries as the two managed to co-exist in relative peace and harmony, limiting their confrontations to occasional skirmishes. But underneath the peaceful exterior, tensions between the two nations were still rising and all it would take is one major event for this false peace to shatter.
It is in these peaceful, but troubled times that our story begins…a tale about the man who would later be known throughout the land as The Eraser, one who possessed the power to erase entire universes and that which would normally be immortal and indestructible…
Our ‘hero’…if we can call it that way, is a Phantom Thief called Sage.
Many in Aetherion know him by the nickname ‘Phantom Hands’ due to his ability to steal anything he sets his sights on without fail and disappear into thin air before a large number of people with relative ease.
Now here’s a question for you who are about to enter this realm, what is his nationality and Symbol? -Nationality-1. Theocracy of Fortuna (A nation that values faith and magical teachings: -Grants bonuses to Mag and Res) 2. Empire of Copernica (A nation that values military strength above all else: -Grants Bonuses to Str, Skl and Def) -Symbol-A. Lance B. Dagger C. Sword D. Staff E. Wyvern Note: The Symbol will determine the unit’s Secondary Weapon (his primary weapon is a deck of cards) and his Personal Skills (skills that are unique to the unit but can be taught to others via the Tutor System (which will be explained later) and/or passed down to a child).

Whoa. A wild post appeared!
2C
Why no Tome? It seems like the options are heavily skewed toward a physical fighter unless the cards benefit from high magic and resistance, or at least benefit more than from physical attributes.

It seems like the options are heavily skewed toward a physical fighter unless the cards benefit from high magic and resistance, or at least benefit more than from physical attributes. Hey os, how have you been? For your question, Card (Deck) weapons exists in both Fortuna and Copernicus, however Fortunian decks uses Magic for their Decks, which enhances Mag and Res and deals magical damage while Copernicus employs Magitek to cram gadgets and weapons (mainly swords, lances or axes) into theirs, greatly enhancing Spd and deals physical damage instead. Cards have a 1-2 range but cannot double attack under any circumstances (skills that increases the number of attacks like Astra are not activated when using cards) and are mainly for utility such as laying traps that can devastate the enemy ranks when used in conjunction with skills or as relay points to provide a swift escape. As for why there is no tome option...well it has to do with the plot and it'll be explained by the end of the prelude.

Pretty good. It has certainly been awhile. How about you?
So is there any magic based substitute? Or does the staff perhaps function for both offensive and defensive roles then?

Hey there, guess who! The eternal one is back for a bit. I don't have much time, so I'll just post a quick vote and say hello. Great to see you Dragunov! And it's great to finally hear Sage's tale! And I see some popular topics have sprung up in my absence. Sweet. You can expect a group PM from me tomorrow, so I can officially introduce myself to our newer members and brief the staff on my expected return date. It won't be much longer now until UB 7 makes it's spectacular debut!
Also, I vote 2C. Cause swords and magic.

Not much to know, really. I'm in the military, so I don't get as much time to write as I'd like, but I still love to write. I'm known as Neosephiroth666 on Gamefaqs, where I met good old Smexy. I created this site as kind of an online writer's club. Also so I can host my own CYOA without having to worry about time constraints. Also, you have a cool username. Golurk is one of the coolest pokemon ever. Now I better stop before Dragunov yells at me for derailing his glorious topic.

Sorry for being so late, I had some serious family issues keeping me busy.
Judging by the results, 2C takes the cake, I'll try to update as fast as possible.
