Hi. I'm back. I come bearing stuff.
First off, I was sick for awhile, but I recovered about a three weeks ago. I'm okay now. How have you been.
Anyway, two things.
First, I apologize. I'm not continuing OoD for the time being. I had ideas for it a month ago, but when I was sick, I forgot most of it, and I've been working on something since.
What have so been working on? A bit of a new project. It will either be an RP(G) or a CYOA. If I go RP route, I will mostly leave everyone to do what they want, while moving the plot forward with various threats. If I go the CYOA route, one of six characters will be chosen to enter the world as a character who plays a pivotal role in the changing world, and lead the way in what comes after.
I guess I should explain why OoD is on hold/maybe forever. Honestly, I can't look at it the same way. I was a much worse writer when I started. I still am pretty terrible, but the difference is that I actually want to put real effort into it, and making characters fleshed out. The problem is, with a cast so large, do you ever really get to know more than a few of them, and even then, how well do you know them? The second problem is simply the restrictions of a fire emblem based CYOA. It is incredibly difficult to forge a good tale when you need to account for any character to die at any moment. I'm all for putting characters in danger, but needless character deaths can just be a waste of energy when a good character dies way before they should, or relatively pointless when a bland, bad, or background character is axed. Who cries for the Red Shirts? Of all the deaths in my bloody, bloody CYOA in my opinion, my best implemented death would be Eleanor's, whose death is caused by the group's failure to stop the assassination attempt of her father, putting her in the position where she would later be killed.
That, and story elements I feel almost obligated to use, such as an army, a magic sword, and dragons, make the realm somewhat restricted, and focused primarily on combat.
Wasn't this supposed to be about an RP(G)/CYOA? I guess I'll get on that right...

Aww, no more OoD D: but I liked OoD. So if this does become a RP(G), what's the special power we get?

Ooooooo, a wild person appears. Hi Os, I'm a thing around here. Fair warning, I can be compared to SMEX and Cheese. Good to meet one of the ancient members. Anyway, yes, let's get bloody. I'm up for either one, as long as it's good (and honestly, leaning towards the CYOA side with all the stuff going on).

Pleasure to meet/see everyone.
Right. Well, the world Ichor was slightly more advanced then our modern world. Then an event happened that would have wiped out all life on the planet swept tgrough the galaxy. In order to save life on the planet, the god Aurelis used his power to move the planet ut of harm's way. Something happened, and he only partially succeeded. The planet was displaced from time, but it was nearly ripped apart in the process. Mysterious limes of power known as leylines appeared and now crisscross the earth, and along the planet's plates, the earth almost split apart, and now dark chasms mar Ichor, where time and space are distorted, and no one can successfully pass. The environment violently shifted, so that nothing is as it was before, except for one, human metropolis, a sprawling city the size of a large island, the seat of Aurelis prior to the shift.
Now for races. as for Ichor's inhabitants, many stayed quite ordinary. One tenth of the remaining population changed in unpredictable ways, looking completely different afterwards. Some transformations were more interesting than others. They all became marked by the transformation by a a faintly glowing pattern, which marks them some place on their body. They also became able to tap into Ichor's primal elements, fire, air, water, and earth. That allowed them not only to manipulate the elements, but also manipulate other aspects of reality. Telekinesis, invisibility, shape-shifting, flight, increased speed and strength. influencing emotions, all that was hidden from them was direct control over another's body or their mind. (Well, it's possible, but it is much much harder than say, controlling an inanimate object of the same weight. And it impossible to see or control another's mind.) this strange, powerful new species has been dubbed, the Ley, and are no longer human. Their life spans are approximately twice as long as healthy human life spans.
Outside the city, but not within it, another kind of people and animals were created. In the daylight, they appeared as normal, if more agressive versions of their normal selves, but when night falls, they become violent, usually grotesque, or strange giants, often growing two or three feet in height. Despite this, they are still very human, and identify as so, though to outsiders, they are called Ware. Even in day form, they are more durable and strong than the other races naturally, and in nightform, their physical abilities increase drastically.
centuries after the original Shift, new beings have risen out of the leylines, enigmatic elemental spirits which form bodies from thier environment around a shard of metallic ore converted to a new metal by exposure to the leylines known as Lylitite. They can be quite powerful, but are for the most part nom-violent, and have not made their intentions known.
lastly are humans. What do they get? Well, for starters, they have Bastion, and all of its technology. They are the only race that has access to, or can use computers and other mechanical devices. Ley simply cannot use technology derived from computers. They fail to work properly when ley are within five feet of them, and equipment they can use is within Bastion, the last human city. All the tech they could use is only available to humans, including grenades, modern weaponry, electric cars, and rail guns. While most weaponry is restricted to militery use, there are ways around that. Secondly, just because they do not have the natural power of alchemy, does not mean they cannot obtain it. A lylitite shard can be driven into key points on one's body in a very painful, permanate method with a high mortality rate, in order to gift an elemental power to an individual. There are ways to add more than one shard, but few dare. Aside from that, they're humans. I hope you're familiar with them.
Amy questions so far?
if not, I'll get more in depth into powers and abilities.

You stopped... OoD?
*trembles*
T-this cannot be!
My vote is RP route. I believe that will allow for far more fun, and I do have this final character idea. So, there's my vote, Os.

Yay!!!! The Wizard is back! Os, I hope you don't mind, but we started OZ without you. Also, no OoD? I'm even more depressed now... I'll miss Lindy... But at least this means my memories of the original topic won't be disturbed, and I remain undefeated in shipping wars... Oh, and I'm torn. I want to vote for it to be a RP, so I can be a shape shifting fire dragon Ley(Did you really expect anything different?), but we have so many RPs already... And I really want to focus on Austur, OZ, Sithis, and LOTUs... Hmm...

I could finally create something awesome with shape shifting! Os drives such hard bargains. I'll dub him "Os the diverger."

Are any of the races opposed to each other? Like do the Humans hunt the ware or vise versa? And do the Ley want to conquer humanity, or just don't want anything to do with them or work with them? And do the other races have any specific weakness like if they're poisoned by things that human interact with normally?

And do the other races have any specific weakness like if they're poisoned by things that human interact with normally? Humans do hunt Ware animals, but human Ware? No. None of the races like each other, and they all have reasons for disliking the others, including jealousy of course. They all fought a war for supremacy decades ago, which is ancient history for Man and Ware, but still fresh in the mind of elder Ley. The Ley's greatest weakness is that they all have a weak point. Their Brand, that marks them as lay, is broken by say, a knife blow, or burned off, or shot by a high powered rifle (even with telekinesis, if they can't see something coming, they can't stop the bullet), they temporarily lose control of their abilities. They aren't gone, but they just can't tap into them. If needles are skewered through a Ley's brand, then it won't heal properly as long as they remain. Ley protect their brands in battle always. The patch of skin is never larger than the back of one's hand, and takes on odd shapes and otherworldly designs. It glows whenever they use their powers, (however not when simply sustaining powers, only during activation). The greatest weakness of the Wares is that they have very little in terms of influence, resources, and outside of their own tribes, reputation. Their transformations are entirely involuntary as well. They can very easily lose themselves within it if they are not careful and become a mass of directionless rage. Their greatest weapon is a double-edged sword. Humans are at a physical disadvantage when it comes down to it. They are more fragile, but more numerous. They have many different tools, the technological edge, but their physical and magical feats pale in comparison to the other two races.

Also, do the Ley and Wares use medieval weaponry since most modern is locked away? They have swords, staves, and of course the occasional flintlock or grenade.

So they've already gone through he'll with each other. Sounds cool. I'd be interested in either the CYOA or the RP(G).

So, there are stats. Though I've done a bit of research and found a role playing game not based on dungeons and dragons.
Essentially, you will have ten stats.
Stats
Score 2-6 Physique: a character's physical prowess Charisma: a character's sociability Acumen: a character's quick thinking ability and overall intelligence.
Score 2-10 Resources: a representation of a character's wealth Influence: a representation of a character's social sway Spirit: a representation of a character's emotional strength
Score: sum of corresponding traits above Health: ability to take a beating Reputation: ability to take a social beating Willpower: ability to take a mental or emotional beating
1-10 Energy: ability to slightly change an outcome.
A sample character, let's say Duncan King using these stats
Physique: 4 (average)
Duncan is fit, but he is a scientist before he is a warrior. His suit is what makes him a terrifying foe. His reflexes might actually be a little on the slow side, but no one knows. No one has ever caught him in a fight without it before.
Acumen: 6 (very high) Duncan is a mechanical genius. His Gravity Armor, the epitome of his life's work studying pokemon prior to his life in Nova is a testament to that. He is among the top minds in Pokearth and few would dispute it.
Charisma: 3 (low) There is a reason Maurice was the leader at Nova, other than the fact he commanded a god. While Duncan inspires fear and compliance, he is a brutal man, with few soft words. As blunt as a hammer. Intimidation may work on weaker willed individuals, but not everyone will be cowed.
Resources: 10 He is the head of Nova's R&D program and has all of its tools and funds at his disposal.
Influence: 8 Few people have seen him, but many know who he is. If he wants something done in Nova, the only ones the stand in his way are the other admins, and even they don't choose to do so that much.
Spirit: 6 Duncan may not adhere to to any religion, but he is a zealot who believes in himself, and his cause. He has suffered greatly to achieve his goals, but still he fights on.
Health: 14 (physique + resources) Reputation: 11 (charisma + influence) Willpower: 12 (acumen + spirit)
Energy: 10 a bit different from the others. The more a character goes through, the more it can learn to nudge situations it is accustomed to.
Whether or not this becomes an RP or not will determine whether or not I'll elaborate on this or not. If I do, I have a simplified version.

So, aside from the previously mentioned stats, a character also has traits, feats and abilities.
Traits are simply aspects of a character. Characrers have character traits which can give them buffs in any situation that it applies to. A character who has trained with the sword his entire life will gain a small +1 bonus whenever wielding a sword.
Abilities are the powers a character has, and it's skill level with the ability.
2 is the minimum level a power must be to have any actual use, and 10 is complete mastery, but the scale actually doesn't cap.
Mimicry is the ability to appear like something else. It is incredibly hard to pull off well, and a mark requires days or weeks of study before one can assume his form perfectly, and even then, one might make mistakes. The better level of mimicry, the easier it is to create a copy of someone. Master mimics don't even need to copy anyone. They can assemble a person from memory of the various body parts they have studied over the years.
However, it is normally impossible, or incredibly difficult for a mimic to assume the form of an animal since their biologies are so different.
This is where stunts come into play. They are what make one character's mimicking so different from another. They are improvements upon an ability, that allow one to take an ability beyond its previous limits. One will pick them up over time, generally as one discovers its specialties or talents, taking their abilities farther than before.
Animal instinct stunt on the mimicry ability allows one to mimic animals as well as humanoids, at a minor penalty.

I would like to see this as cyoa. With all the others RPs out there I think this would be a better as a cyoa.

You don't alot stats. You just make your character. Stats come based on what kind of person your character is.
