The undead soldier couldn't do much as the light arrow and the vampire's assault caught him crippled. The swipe from their scythe beheaded the soldier, and the blast of flame magic knocked the body away near Baruch. The burning body didn't stir.
Baruch inched slowly toward the body and poked it a few times with his club. No visible reaction. The fog-like aura had also seemed to dissipate, but the fire made it difficult to tell with absolute certainty. "Is... Is it over?"
"HRAAAR!"
Baruch nearly jumped out of his skin as the severed head on the floor hissed and writhed. It was at that moment that a dark portal emerged from above a golem's foot stepped through on top of the head, crushing and silencing it. Golurk scanned the room curiously.
"Umm... Y-You got it," Yancy told it.
"Ugghh."
A groan from the doorway alered everyone's attention to the defense force general limping in. He was covered in dirt, but otherwise didn't seem anymore battered than before.
"I see you've handled things here," he said. He looked around. "Janitorial's gonna deserve a hell of a raise for this one, though. Still, job well done. Damn well done..."
He shot a finger at the guy standing next to one of his soliders. "That said, who the hell are you and who gave you permission to trespass?!"
Irving joined the gathering of Outlander tourists after the horse had its way with another fruit.
"I believe Masujiro was expecting you, but it is your decision," said the Legionnaire. He then looked around to see who was watching. "...Say, just a friendly word of advice, I would be more cautious if I were you. I have no ill will towards you or anything, but if an assassin were to want you dead..."
In the blink of an eye, the Legionnaire had stepped behind June, holding a small stick against her neck.
"...he could have done so twenty times over," he muttered.
He let go of June and the stick and turned to the Outlander volunteers. "Is this everyone? Alright?"
The Legionnaire clasped their hands together to form a hand-sign, snatched some small pellets from their belt, and threw them down, detonating them in a cloud of smoke. By the time it dissipated, he and the Outlanders had vanished.
------
Robiki
In another cloud of smoke, the Outlanders had arrived in what seemed like the middle of a shopping plaza, with stalls of merchants along the sides of the roads in front of them, filled with a moderate crowd of people. Large, beautiful trees dotted the plaza, their pink petals sometimes falling from the windy breeze. The atypical wooden structures gave the city a more oriental look and feel.
"Welcome to Robiki," said their escort. He had forgone the Legion disguise and was now dressed in a light, black uniform with various pouches that from a glance mostly consisted of various sharp object. His face mask was brought down to around their neck, possibly to appear slightly more sociable. "Allow me to escort you all to the sparring ground. Feel free to ask questions or take a look at the market, too."
Irving spun around, taking in the surroundings. "It's... very pretty," he admitted. "It's nothing like the capitol."

Corva quietly picks herself up and nurses her wounds in the corner.
Rand puffs himself up towards Skaar. "I am Rand of Carcina, and General Alvis gave me permission to 'trespass' wherever the Hell I need to drag you back to your hospital bed... sir." Lily pats their escort on the shoulder. "Just a friendly word of advice. I don't know the etiquette and laws of this land yet. I don't really know how you do things here. But in my homeland, that little stunt would probably have cost you your arm." She's wearing an easygoing smile, but it does little to mask the pure rage in her heart.
Gale pulls Lily away. "H-hey, Lily, look at how pretty those trees are. Wow. Wouldn't you like to have a picnic? Or just sit under one and watch the sunset?"
"That does sound awful romantic..." George says. "'s real purty..."

Royal Tomb
"Alvis?" Leonard lowered his finger. "Ah, that'll explain things. The name's Leonard Skaar, Defense Force General of Yuleia." He held a hand out for a firm handshake. "Never heard of Carcina before. And no offense, but some of you look like weirdos. You the Outlanders I've eavesdropped about?"
Robiki
The escort shrugged. "My arm would be an acceptable loss if it gets her to be on her toes." He snatched a petal blowing in the wind and began playing with it with his fingers. "Sleeping with one eye open is something I suggest all you Outlanders do. Yuleia's a nice place, but it's not perfect. There are people you can trust like the queen, sure, but sooner or later you'll meet Yuleians with less pure-hearted intentions, who either want to take advantage of you, or simply want you dead."

Gale wraps her arms around Lily's waist and rests her chin on her shoulder. "Don't worry too much about Miss Grumpypants here. She just hasn't had enough loving today."
"Gale..." there's a warning in Lily's voice.
"Plus, she's a little freaked out because of meeting her mom here, but a lot younger than she's used to."
George gives the pair a look. Rand takes his hand. "Yes, we-"
"Corva's a weirdo even in her own world!" She giggles to herself. "She's from Lavender Town, but that's gone now. Hey, hey! You like eavesdropping, right? And other people from Corva's world are here..." She hovers over and whispers in his ear. "Have you heard the name 'Nova?'"

Leonard Skaar firmly took Rand's hand. Possibly slightly painfully. "Nova's the name of someone on the medical staff," he told Corva. "She's a sweet lady... why the need to ask?"

Baron shrugs because he has no idea what a Nova or Lavender Town is.
Sophie preens her feathers to try to get some of the piece of the undead off of them.

"Anyway", Leonard said. He frowned at the burning body. "Will someone put that thing out? Even Legionnaires don't deserve cremation."
Still leaning a hand against the wall and rubbing his neck, John Doe gestured at Manaphy to go ahead and Water Pulse the fire out. It seemed like the polite thing to do.
Yancy approached the general. "Excuse me, sir? You're wounded. I can--"
Leonard chuckled. "What? These?" He pointed down as his fresh gashes: various slash wounds around his torso and arm, and what appear to be a stab wound by the shoulder. "If mosquito bites such as these were enough to give me pause, I'd be obligated to relinquish my title as general to spare Yuleia the shame! You need not worry about me."
Didn't you get blasted through a wall?!
"But if left like that, even 'mosquito bites' like those would--"
Leonard shrugged and walked passed her. "Anyway, I refuse to sit in some hospital bed eating what could barely be considered edible food at a time like this. Private!" he barked at Baruch. "Get Alvis on the radio! Tell him to get his windy ass down here!" Leonard paused. He took a light step and caused a pebble to shoot up from the ground. "Scratch that, tell him to get the damn magic seal activated, then get his windy ass down here!"
Baruch saluted and walked off to the corner to speak to his communicator. Yancy raised a hand to try to get Leonard's attention again, but sighed in resignation as he walked off to inspected the now-dead soldier's body. "Well... Is anyone else injured?" She glanced over at John Doe, who raised a hand to show that he's mostly fine now. Yancy looked over to the man who wielded the scythe. "What about you? I saw you cut yourself to make your weapon."

Alice enters the library with a small plate of tea and biscuits. "Mr. Wright! I've brought your afternoon... Ah!?" She finds him hunched over at his desk. Not an unusual sight at 2 in the morning, but at this time of the day? And the way he's laying seems not quite right. Alice hurriedly places the tray on a bookshelf and runs over. Her fingers press against his neck for two heartbeats before she shuffles back. She reaches under her dress and slides out a knife, taking a defensive stance as she slowly scans the area.
She hears a rustling sound behind the bookcase at her side and she quickly drives her heel into a row of books. She sends them flying through to the aisle on the other side. She's rewarded with a surprised grunt... followed by the entire case starting to fall over on top of her as her opponent gives it a shove.
"Ah!" Alice dances back, snatching the tea tray as it starts to fall. She barely avoids the shelf dropping on top of her or a drop spilling from the teapot. A male figure leaps over the falling shelf before it even hits the ground, and leaping and kicking at Alice. She slices at his leg, only for her knife to stab into a book that seems to fly in from nowhere. He kicks off her shoulder and leaps over her head. She throws her knife at his back as he flees, only for another book to block it. She takes three steps to follow him, only for several pages to slide out from under her foot, sending her falling to her back. She struggles to keep the tea from falling onto all the precious books that cushion her fall - one half-full cup goes flying off, only for several pages to spring up and catch it.
The figure pauses before turning the corner, blowing her a kiss through a black fabric mask. He holds up a few books tucked under his arms as if to signal he's going to be taking them.
He throws open the door out of the library and finds himself staring down the barrels of two massive, ornate pistols. Geraldine pulls the triggers without hesitation. The intruder explodes in a flurry of pages, some tearing free from the books he was in the middle of stealing. The pages go fluttering down the hallway as a storm of paper and lead as Geraldine unloads both magazines. Shreds of destroyed papers fall to the floor, left behind as the mass retreats.
"Sound the alarm," Geraldine orders Alice. "Then get busy cleaning this mess. And don't forget the bullet casings." She steps into a shadow beside the door and disappears. She emerges from behind the shadow of the queen's throne, sliding fresh magazines into her magnums before the empty ones even impact the floor of the library.
"Your grace. We have an intruder fleeing the library." Geraldine takes a position between the queen and the door, pistols at the ready - now loaded with incendiary rounds.

Geraldine doesn't move from her position. "6'1", approximately 170lb, white mask, carrying several tomes. However, he seemed capable of both controlling paper and using advanced transformation magic - he turned into a sheet of paper himself to escape me. It is possible he may be able to alter his human appearance, as well. It is unlikely you were his target, but no new guards should be allowed into this room until the alert is rescinded."

Gibberish gibberish *wait, his majesty Kyurem?* gibberish BOOM!
The shock wave from the detonating grenades fractured Esdeath's outer shell of ice. The subsequent shower of shrapnel almost threatened to pierce it, a few managing to draw blood. So much for a fun outing.
First, her injuries froze over, stabilizing her injuries. Next she shimmered as her ice shell was refreshed, but more angular and crystalline evoking diamonds. Finally, she stomped one foot on the ground and ice tendrils snaked out at blistering speed from her towards each individual Cryogonal. Stalagmites of ice erupted beneath each one to pierce them through.
"I demand an audience with your majesty!" She called out to everyone and no one in particular.

The Cryogonal who detonated his explosives laid on the ground, missing more than a few chunks of body.
"Tell my country... I did m' best."
The remainder of the Cryogonal did not avoid the intruder's retaliatory attack, getting skewered from the ground up. Most of them died from this. The rest were stuck and unable to communicate with the giant ice pick in their mouths.
...All except for one elite warrior.
"Orange you glad I have 31 IVs in Speed?"
The Cryogonal looked around and saw the sorry state of their comrades.
"...Bye!"
The lone survivor heroically turned and fled, running by to his master as fast as his 31 speed IVs could carry them.
"Your majesty, there appears to be a native lower in the mountain that wishes to meet you. She is also kicking our collective frosty asses, as she appears to be able to manipulate ice and sentient beings made of ice. What are your orders?"
If Kyurem could shrug, he probably would've. He wasn't even looking at the Cryogonal giving the report, his attention instead fixated on the sculpture of a Haxorus's skull he was building on the mountainside. "Fine by me. Do whatever you want. If she can't climb up on her own, she's unworthy of being before me."
"But sir--"
"THERE'S ANOTHER ONE! SHE'S -- AAAAAAAH!"
Kyurem turned to actually pay attention as one of his Cryogonal familiars was launched through the air, landing right beside the Boundary Pokemon's feet. He looked over to the path leading to the summit and saw a feminine silhouette coming into view.
"Who goes there?! Reveal yourself before His Gra--"
"How many times must I tell you fools that humans can't understand you!?"
"Heehee, don't worry. I understand loud and clear."
The intruder came closer. Kyurem sized her up. Average-ish human proportions. Seems to like wearing the color purple. Red hair in a ponytail. Dressed for travel, but not dressed for the cold, though it doesn't seem to bother her. Lugging a giant backpack with minimal effort, suggesting strong upper-body strength. Has a finger to her chin for some reason. She seemed slightly familiar somehow, but Kyurem didn't feel like committing a lot of brainpower to remember where.
"Who the hell're you? You lookin' to die?"
"I'm more of a match for you than I look, frostface! But, I'll have you know, I didn't bother making my way here for a fight. I'm here to make life a bit more... exciting... for you. Heh heh heh..."
"If you've got a point, get on with it, and take a hike. Your chucklin's ruining the atmosphere."
"I've come to bargain, just like any other Anna would do!"
"Do I look like I have any human currency?"
"Heh heh... I think you'll sing a different tune when you see what I'm offering. Unless of course, you're content with using that... thing... you found here as a paperweight, considering how useless it is to you in this state."
Kyurem growled. "I'll bite. Show me."
The intruder reached into her pocket and held out her offer. Kyurem froze. If it could grin, it would've.
"...You. I like you. Name your price. Any price."

Alarms start ringing throughout the castle as the guard rallies. One guard makes the mistake of trying to come into the throne room. A bullet blows past his face close enough to hurt. "Warning shot. This room is under lockdown," Geraldine says.
Half an hour later, the alarm stops ringing. "All clear!" a voice calls from the door. It swings open - cautiously - and a soldier comes running in. He takes a knee in front of the queen. Geraldine keeps a gun trained on him, and the other towards the door. "Queen Glinda. The intruder has been spotted in town. Troops are moving to apprehend, but they're having difficulty catching him."
"How are you sure it's the same person?" Geraldine asks.
"A man matching the description was seen running along rooftops and... er... using floating books as stepping stones, ma'am," the soldier explains.
"Casualties?"
"Ma'am! The head librarian took a nasty bump to the head, he's recovering in the infirmary. One of the maids engaged the intruder. She suffered some minor bruising and a twisted ankle."
Geraldine continues to hold her position. "Your orders, Queen Glinda?"

Glinda pursed her lips. Now would have been a good time for Leonard or Alvis to be here.
"Send a medic to assist the librarian and the maid. Seal the gates and the alert the guards on the wall to take any necessary measures to prevent their escape. If the thief is using books as stepping stones, order those with wind or gravity magic to disrupt his transportation.
Have we been able to identify any potential motives for this intruder? Has anything of value been stolen?"
Cia jumped and almost spilled all of the notes, journals, and scrolls she had compiled in her hands for the ritual.
This alarm's... an intruder alert!
Cia set her items down on the desk and peered through the door into the central study. The few researchers that were in the study had already locked the double-doors, and a few had pointed guns or staves in the event of movement.
If my research on the ritual get stolen or destroyed, it would be disastrous.
Cia closed and locked the door to her own room, took a spot adjacent to her desk, and held her staff in her hands, ready to use it for the slightest cause in defense of her notes. Her eyes focused on the door, occasionally glancing toward the sides and the wall behind her in case it was something that could phase through them. Her ears searched for any outside noise from outside the windowless room. Her palms grew sweaty from her tight grip.
Eventually, the alarm cease. All clear. Cia exhaled sharply, only now realizing that she had begun holding her breath without realizing it at some point.
What happened? Did the intruder get away, or did they capture them?
Cia wiped her sweaty palms on her dress as she turned back to her notes.

Fawful, Wario, and the rest of the Pokemon were fast asleep. Well almost everyone was fast asleep due to the hypnosis, Chlortles the Gggggggeeeeennnnggggaaarrrr was still awake and was just watching everyone from the shadows. Which was a good thing because something caught Chlortles attention and well it was kinda of bright (well bright for a shadow ghost creature).
"Oh that's odd, have to let the others know," Chlortles says from the Shadows.
Chlortles luckily had some Chesto berries around in case something like this happened. Chlortles put a piece of the berry into the mouth of everyone sleeping which was enough to get them stirring from there slumber.
"Pika Pika, Piiiiikkkkaaaachu," Pixy said looking around.
"Del Del Dellllpphhoooxxx Delphox," Fen Fen said rubbing her eyes.
"Oh I was just having the most wonderful dream to,". "The Mushroom Kingdom was cowering beneath me in fear,". "Bowser was hanging over a pit of lava in a cage, there to entertain me at my whim,". "So why did you awake me?" Fawful asked Chlortles.
Wario was more or less mumbling and growling when he was waking up.
"Fawwwful, Mrrrr Warrrrrrio there's something in the distance,". "It seems odd and outtt of place,". "It could be suspicious or..,". Chlortles said.
"Mario, typical Mario sneaking around when we are asleep,". "Yeah he pretends to be all friendly and everything,". "Yet he's a sneak and a fraud and people say I am the selfish and greedy one," Wario said.
"Hmm so you too share a hatred for the red mustached one," Fawful mused.
"Wouldn't say hatred just don't like the guy ," Wario said.
"Ahhh yes the enemy of my enemy is certainly the making of a great sandwhich of friendship,". Fawful says.
"Hate to break up this Pika moment but shouldn't we inspect the weird floating helmet," Pixy injects.
"Yeah lets show that helmet, no one messes with the Wario Bros.," Wario said taking off.
"Yes they shall fall to the might of the Mean Bean machine," Fawful says flying off towards the helmet.
"Guys those names don't even match, umm guys Pika," Pixy says in vain.
"Ehh let them go it's better then them trying to kill one another,". Fen Fen tells Pixy.
"Yeah your right at least its starting to feel like old time again," Pixy says taking off after the two.

Geraldine disappears into the shadows, then reappears momentarily. "Ignatius is recovering in the medical ward now. The maid's already returned to work. We don't know what's been taken yet, but based on the fact he ran out with an armful of books, I suppose it's safe to assume that was his target. Once Ignatius wakes up, he should be able to identify which books were taken - assuming our troops don't simply capture him."

It took a few minutes for Alvis to rejoin the Outlanders. His escort joined Baruch in guarding the entryway while everyone else remained inside.
Leonard had spread the undead soldier's body faceup in the middle of the floor, arms across his cheat. He would look peaceful, if it weren't for it's lack of head and myriad of wounds both fresh and old. Alvis tried to ignore the large splotch of black stains on the floor a few feet away. "Skaar," he nodded respectfully.
"Aeon," Skaar nodded back.
"It seems that nobody here sustained heavy injury neutralizing the threat," Alvis said, looking over the Outlanders in the room. Yancy felt like giving an exasperated sigh due to Skaar's clearly untreated wounds.
"Bastard killed one of my men," Leonard stated grimly. "I intend to arrange a burial."
"My condolences," Alvis said. Looking downward, he bent down to pick up a metal shard off the ground. "What can you tell me of the intruder? From the looks of things, they appear Legion, but some of those wounds..."
"Necromancy," Leonard said plainly.
Alvis's breath stopped.
"If I were a guessing man," Leonard continued, "the one behind this desired either His Majesty's Devil Arm -- if they were stupid -- or his body itself -- if they were ambituous... and had personal beef with him in particular, if they sought this specific room out."
Alvis clenched a fist and discarded the shard. "I trust you already have defensive plans?"
"Replace nearly everyone stationed here with soldiers that actually give a damn, and then double that number? Of course."
"I'll arrange for the departed soldier to be taken. I wish to present this body to Alexus first, before burying it as well."
"Alexus?"
"I recognize that type of wound," Alvis said. "That hole burned precisely where the heart is... Viserion."
Alvis walked over to the Outlanders next. "I have a favor to ask: keep what has transpired here on a strict need-to-know basis. Not even to the queen; I'll explain the matter personally, in seclusion. Understood? If you have questions, ask them now. I will just feign ignorance if you wait until later."

"Hold it!" said mental Galahad shoulder serpent one.
The Galahad's perception and cognition sped up until the rest of the world was a crawl. He paused as his subconscious begged him for some attention.
"What? What'd I miss?"
"You've been seen."
"Who- Oh, dammit..." he mentally muttered, noticing the odd entity flying towards him.
"Abort mission! Bail!" said mental Galahad shoulder devil two.
"Leave no witnesses!" said mental Galahad shoulder serpent three
"Smite it with the glorious Lightning of Redemption!" said mental Galahad shoulder serpent four.
Number one groaned. "Shut up me. We interrogate it. We're here for info on the Outlanders."
The Galahad synthesized. "Kay, but we also try to convert it. And if it's a heretic we smite it in my name with a bolt of cleansing afterwards."
Four manifestations of ego nodded in agreement with themselves.
"Alright. Break!"
The Galahad left his pocket reality headspace. "Yo!" He called out to the figures approaching him. "What's up guys?"
Location: The Holy Citadel of Erebus
Footsteps and then knock at the door. Doctor Petrine was already at attention, having felt the anxiety of the attendant as he approached.
"Come in. Speak freely."
The attendant did so. "The metal man...it approaches our borders!"
Petrine shuddered as her suspicious were confirmed. Swallowing that emotion, she took a deep breath and forced some confidence and hope to the surface instead. "And the other Generals are busy. Come, tend to Kurza while I'm away."
The Doctor gave the attendant a reassuring smile as she turned to reveal the sleeping chimeraling in her arms, purring softly. He approached Petrine hurriedly, and her arms gracefully transferred Kurza to his. As she withdrew, she made sure to brush his hands with her arm.
"Calm now." She said serenely, as she imparted her confidence to him through the touch. "As the Avatar of the Red Phoenix, I will protect you."
And with that, cool firey wings burst from her form, and she was gone. She flew through the halls of the Citadel, out over the city of Erebus, and out towards the aura of absolute fear emanating from their northern wall. She could hear screams.
The Tin Soldier's very presence causes chaos in its wake. It turns reason into insanity and the reasonable desperate. Even from outside Ephesus's walls, those in the nearest district were ready to kill one another if it meant escaping what they felt was to come. The weight of their terror hit Doctor Petrine like a hot iron pressing into her soul. For one immune to fire, she never forgot what it felt like to burn. Some had collapsed while running, writhing on the ground, panic preventing them from finding their footing. Others had churned their stomachs out, stumbling off through a haze of incoherent pain. Some parents were contemplating the fastest way to spare their children from falling into its hands. Children were simply bawling their eyes out.
Petrine gasped for air. Fear clogged her lungs and her eyes watered. But she knew how this worked. As much as it hurt, she had a duty, and she had faith. And she knew that these two things were always carried with her.
"I am here!" She proclaimed, voice echoing with the screech of a firebird. From above the village a girl consumed by the aura of a red phoenix blazed with fury and grace. The villagers saw her, and Petrine could feel it. In their terrified minds, and in hers as well, she ignited a spark of hope that fanned into a flame. She took it and magnified it in her hands, forming an enormous fireball that she threw to the ground below. Its explosion was pure, and rattled through the village, warming nothing but hearts, burning nothing but despair. As it expanded, it left a blazing forcefield that protected the town from harm.
Flying over the walls, Pshe spotted the Tin Solder, its slow murderous gait the same as it has always been.
"Demon!" Petrine screeched, diving on it from above. The flames she shot forth this time were not so harmless. Grass ignited and the soil sizzled as she bathed the Tin Soldier in cleansing fire. "Do I have your attention!?"
It looked up unfazed by the fire. Its empty eyes and mangled face met Petrine's, its gaze running through her eyes and soul like a rusty serrated saw. But she did not break eye contact, never blinking, not once. The Phoenix was letting into Demon into her soul, so she could reach into the Demon's.
It swung its cleaver as she descended, but the Phoenix was too fast. One talon held back is weapon. The other grabbed hold of its face.
Petrine's hands seared with psychic pain as they gripped the surface of the Tin Soldier. She looked in straight in the eyes. She inhaled. And she blew as much fire into its face as she could muster.
But these were not flames that burned or cleansed. These were the same kind flames she used at the village. Her mind and body screamed in pain, but through her touch, and through her fire, she sent the Demon a singular thought.
"I will free you from your suffering."
The Tin Soldier teleported away.
Petrine collapsed on the ground in a heap. Her compurse was non-existent, gagging on breaths, eyes unable to find focus. She would need a moment.
"I...hate...doing that..." Location: Ephesian Mountains.
IVs...??
"Take me to your leader!" Esdeath called out to the one Cryogonal retreating. Ice blades shot out from beneath her feet as she immediately dashed into a skating pursuit.

"Well then what should I do now," Ann wondred. "Sophie is out and Granny Peach is asleep,".
"Sister what are you thinking of doing?" Flanna asked. Well not quite Flanna, Anna decided to go in her human form for now looking like just any Anna would. Well except she has a black streak going through the middle of her hair.
"Don't tell me, you forgot about what type of opportunity, this is?". "So many fresh vic.. potenttial customers,". "So much profit, so many resources, now now don't tell me you forgot?" Flanna asked Ann.
"Your right sis, I can't beleive I almost forgot," Ann said as she went to go gather some things.
"That's the spirit sis now now I need to take care of some business," Flanna said.
"What could you possibly, oh ohhhhhh that?". "Well umm at least the magical water thing is over there,". "Good luck sister, I will be right over here," Ann said setting up her stall.
"Yeah umm Good Luck is what I will need won't I," Flanna said making her way to June.
"Hello umm Mrs. June I believe this is the first time we met formally,". "Is there a place we can talk just the two of us,". "I beleive the two of us have alot to talk about," Flanna told June.

"Yes, I have a question," Rand says. "What exactly was that thing?
"And why couldn't Corva kill it!?"
Rand jumps as Corva appears over his shoulder, then continues. "I've fought undead before, but that was..." June looks around. "There's not really anywhere to go. I suppose we could speak in the corner?"
