Peach was too busy talking with Frey and didn't notice the shadow til it was to late. Next thing Peach knows is there a burning sensation coming from her neck. Peach then feels a bit of a dizzying sensation coming over her as she stumbles a bit. "Whoa what was that I feel kinda of faint," Peach said.
Mario heard something about jumping and decided to grab Peach. Mario then used a Tanooki leaf on Peach and himself. "Mario grab on I can keep you guys safe from the ground," Starlow said. Mario nodded and grabbed a hold of Starlow.
Rosalina heard the warning in time and grabbed Luigi. Rosalina and Luigi were effortlessly floating off the ground.
Aylssa was able to shoot a column of ice in time.
Baron transformed into a bat as soon as he heard the warning.
Bowser wasn't really paying attention to anything and he barely paid attention to the burning sensation on his ankle.
Kamek was floating the entire time and wasn't really paying any mind.

Seeing the able-bodied soldiers begin to start looking anywhere from nervous to outright frightened, John Doe held his gun, his first instinct was to start moving closer to Yancy.
Grinn, he telepathically spoke to his shadow. Watch my back.
"What exactly am I lookin' for, here?"
Something unnatural would be my guess.
"Everyone that can, get off the ground!"
Doe looked over to see that Yancy's Togekiss had already scooped her off the ground. He scanned around to make sure the coast seemed clear before sending Ditto out.
Ditto!
"My pleasure."
Ditto Transformed into Yancy's Togekiss and allowed Doe to mount him.
"Oof!"
Despite Ditto's uncomfortable grunt, it was able to get off the ground. Pokemon and Trainer were both surprised that the delicate-looking Pokemon could support the weight, considering that he was more than a little heavier than Yancy.
Meanwhile, Yancy lobbed a Pokeball upward to send out Serperior, who fell and coiled around her and Togekiss (who put on a face of visible discomfort).
"Help the others off the ground!"
Serperior looked downward and reached out with her vines at the first person she saw: Horatio.
"I insist that my vine receive a scrubbing after this!"
The vines wrapped around his waist and hoisted him off the ground. Togekiss descended slightly from the additional weight.

They feel like they're gaining the upper hand...
The Lionheart could feel beings escaping off the ground. Without a surface to connect with, they were beyond its grasp.
No matter. It had left its mark. The Yuleians continued their assault, and why risk approaching them when there is greater prey to be had? It shot off through towards the tree's entrance.
Celeste heard gunfire and shouting.
"Back to the entrance!" he commanded, waving Jirachi and co away.
Something was slithering at the floor towards him fast. Very Fast. His combat systems took automatic aim and he shot with his hand canon in rapid fire, blasting the ground apart. But the creature dodged away and up the wall, circling back around as it made contact and shot up his foot. "I'm hit!" He shouted, swatting at a sting that suddenly gripped the back of his left hand.
Jirachi was about to fling itself at Joanna to teleport her away, but seeing whatever it was attack Celeste prompted a different response. Jirachi flung Celeste away using Gravity to override the doctor's coat, to leave him weightless, floating in place in midair.
Celeste only had time to react on instinct. He knew his body was compromised, and whatever was doing the compromising was attacking him. The moment he felt some outside force act on his coat, perhaps he presumed that this was some sort of body-snatching creature that wanted control of his technology. Whatever the reason was, he willed his coat to eject him from its bonds, and so now floating helplessly in the air was a dishevelled man wearing Yuleian prison clothes, and a shining white metal jacket proudly bearing the symbol of the Lionheart.
"Put me down and get everyone out of here!" Celeste yelled, but Jirachi shook its head. It pointed at Celeste, who looked down and noticed the new tattoo he had on his hand. It wasn't a new place for a tattoo, for him anyways, but this thing looked a lot more sinister than an Unown.
"Image recognition search." His glasses scanned the image, and proceeded to scan through the myriad of tomes he had managed to download from the Yuleian library. It didn't take long to come up with a result.
"Arceus dammit..." he muttered.
"Language!" shouted an only slightly shaken Joanna.

"Well, it sounds like we've managed to summon quite a... colorful... cast of Outlanders," Cia commented, now sitting on the bed to tie her sandals.
"You wish to meet them, right?" Glinda said. "Most of them should be at Yggdrasil. I intend to share my own gratitude with them."
"Never a moment to rest." Cia finished tying her sandals and stood back up, her staff in hand. "...Holds true now more than ever, if Ephesus is plotting to increase aggression."
Glinda nodded in dread as she re-opened the rift to Yggdrasil. Stepping through it, however...
"What...?"
The first to step through, Glinda saw Alvis kneeling on the floor, his eyes closed shut, a couple of unconscious or heavily wounded strangers, and her guards with their weapons raised, in search of something all across the room, some of them visibly struggling to see straight.
"Turn back, your majesty!" called Alvis as Cia and Lana stepped over to this side of the portal. "The Lionheart has made itself known!"
"The Lionheart?!" Glinda exclaimed. She heard a distant gunshot.
"It... seems to have fled outside," Alvis said, "but regardless, you mustn't stay here."
"Where did it materialize from?" Cia asked. "We haven't been five minutes!"
Alvis pointed to the general direction of where he believed the child was. Glinda and Cia now realized a particular third party individual in the room that had some of the guard moving in to physically restrain them. "That child seemed to have it. It blinded us and fled toward the main army."
Glinda looked at the light-skinned man. "Child...?"
Cia stepped forward, pointing her staff at the stranger. "You. Who are you?"
Alvis's spirit clenched his fist in frustration and dispelled the blades of wind he had conjured when the Lionheart he had targeted had slipped between the feet of a crowd of soldiers.
"Where is it?!" Alexus bellowed.
Irving simply stood there, looking around at the riled up crowd of people. He caught something moving at the corner of his eye, slithering quickly past him. He almost thought it was a roach at first until he got a closer look, but his reaction was to try to stomp his foot over it all the same. He cracked the floor with his force, but the creature was too fast for him.
Dunno what a Lionheart is, but that sure as hell looked like a lion.
"Over there, it's goin' outside!"
Alexus and Alvis's spirit both lunged toward the tree's exit (the latter shoving anyone unfortunate enough to be in his way). Once out, Alvis's spirit noticed the floating troublemaker from the palace and another child apparently acquainted with him. It tilted its head quizzically at them. Alexus's attention was fully focused on the floating coat bearing the Lionheart's sigil.
"You there!" Alexus pointed his blade at Celeste. "What has transpired here! Are you responsible for that?
More importantly," he pointed at the abomination's symbol. "That creature spreads its infection by planting markings of itself on the bodies of others. Are you marked? Do you feel as though you had been bitten? Lie, and the consequences will be fatal."

The freshly materialized young man blinked, desperately grasping at his view to avoid it slipping off into empty space again, fixing it on the woman with the staff.
"Who...am I? Who am I...Who am I..."
There wasn't a lack of memories. It was more like there were too many fake white lies and plastic thoughts swirling in the agitated snow-globe of his brain.
"I....my name is Ozma! Ozma of Covenac" He said, finally grasping something solid. "And I...no...that thing!" He exclaimed, pointing down the direction the Lionheart had fled.
"I am free! I am not its tool any more!"
He looked around at the fallen people surrounding him, "And those were my friends...or its friends...but they were good...were good..."
His eyes scrunched closed in concentration. "I'm not here yet. Not...completely...thinking is hard..."
"Who are you?" he asked back.
Celeste began to float upside down in his gravity-less state.
He held up his hand, displaying the Lionheart mark. "I've got no reason to hide this. Get it off me."
Folowing the general's gaze, he too saw the mark on his coat. His mind sunk into thought, perplexed.
"Pigments shouldn't be able to embed themselves in an orichaculm alloy weave like that. Try to scrape it off."
Meanwhile, from her position behind Jirachi, Joanna watched Alexus in awe.
"Ohmygosh that sword is cool I want one..." She muttered to Disco. The Dedenne was less enthused though. She was getting some bad vibes from the man in general.

"Covenac?" Cia echoed. "The city that broke off from the mainland and floated up to the sky eons ago? That Covenac?"
"I thought that was just a myth," Glinda muttered. "My mother used to read tales about it to me as bedtime stories..."
Alvis grimaced at the conversation, but otherwise kept his focus elsewhere.
"My name is Cia, sorceress in service to the kingdom of Yuleia," Cia said to Ozma. "Do you posess recollection of such a realm?" She held out a hand to help the stranger stand.
Alexus conjured flames in his hand and quickly reached out to tightly clutch Celeste's hand and burn his tattoo away before it could escape. He ignored any protests, cries of agony, or attempts to pull away that resulted, only letting go when he was certain that the Lionheart was incinerated away.
"You'll live."
The wind spirit glared at Alexus before blinking away in a gust of wind. While Alexus turned his back to the Outlander to observe the floating coat, the sprit returned from the tree's interior with a canister in hand. It reached out to hold the doctor's arm outward and shattered the canister above the burned hand. Celeste's wounds began to heal as light enveloped them.
"Hmph... If I were to attempt to destroy it here, it would rematerialize itself within someone who bears another mark," Alexus thought aloud. "I know that some inside the tree did not go unscathed. It could have another opportunity to spread the disease."

"...probably" the new Ozma said, still squinting in concentration. Bus haking it off he replied more normally. "Cia. My pleasure."
"I can't...remember much, but I remember my home. Golden streets. Emerald towers...we were safe..."
Tears started to collect in his eyes, although he was too preoccupied by remembering to notice. "I don't know how the Lion got me...but I left...and I don't know how long it's been..."
"AhhhHHHHHHH!" Celeste yelled, from shock to pain as his tattoo was seared off. Jirachi covered Joanna's eyes as she flinched and covered her ears. The Wish pokemon figured whatever was going on, teleporting away would be really bad form right now. When the procedure was done, Celeste accepted whatever the ghost-thing was doing.
"How would-" Celeste panted, though with mind half distracted by marvelling at what he guessed was a magic healing potion, "How would that...*hah*...be different than...*hah*...destroying the one on my hand...?"

"That's its active body," Alexus explained. "For all intents and purposes, that thing is a living creature, while the marks -- such as that you previously bore -- are not. If we kill the creature, it reincarnates itself from an inactive mark. If I were to have burned that coat first," Alexus turned and pointed to the doctor's hand. "That thing may have come alive to take its place."
"Ozma?" Glinda said. "My name is Glinda Vecna Garland, Queen of Yuleia. I am uncertain as whether you are speaking the truth, but regardless, you and your... its... friends, appear to require time to recover. Would you like for us to transport you to our palace for aid?"
Some members of the guard that weren't patrolling with their weapons drawn in case the stranger attempted to approach the royal family, or the Lionheart's return, continued to guide the still-breathing people to the fountain.

June goes running outside at the sound of yelling. She pauses at the entrance and calls back. "Sophie! Organize a defensive position in case it comes back!"
She quickly surveys the scene. "What's going on? Did you get it!?"

Ozma blinked out the tears, looked around briefly, and gave a slow nod.
"Glinda, thank you. If you trust me then yes I will go with you. I need time to...recuperate."
"Well you're in luck," Celeste said, now floating right side up, breath caught, "That coat's no ordinary garment, and if it's done to it what I think it did then it's in no danger of dying any time soon."
He quickly remembered Joanna.
"Get the child and her poke- animal companions to safety. I assumed wrongly that we'd find shelter in here. Also, can I come down now?"
Jirachi's eyes darted between Celeste and the big scary looking guy holding big sticks. It waited for a response.

Location: The Holy Citadel of Erebus
Doctor Petrine presiding, by the grace of the Green Dragon, may the flames of the Red Pheonix restore the fallen and the pure.
Mason lay in a restoration pod, immolated by bright crimson flames. Petrine stood with her eyes closed in prayer, her hands laid gently on the pod as a bird might to warm an egg. The fire was cool to the touch, but generated enough lift to keep Mason afloat as his muscles and skin slowly filled into his bare metal skeleton.
Nearby, a young chimeraling paced the floor impatiently, likely concerned for her master. Her goat head was hungry, but the lion cub head had previously commanded the snake head to keep it in check. While those two were occupied, she pounced up onto the pod, peering into its viewing panel. Mason's face was almost recognizable again.
"Down Kurza", Petrine said in a firm voice. When the chimeraling wouldn't budge, a wisp of her hair curled up and shot out a small continuous red laser. All three heads immediately sprung to attention. Time to chase the red dot!
Location: Erebus Throne Room
"No disrespect to you, my grace. But me, on a stealth mission? Lightning shoots out of my face."
The Galahad was kneeled before his Emperor. He'd been cooped up for a while. It was showing.
"Then. Wear. A. Mask." the Emperor snarled. "Stop wasting my time. Go!"
A deep bow and an acrobatic dive out an open window later, and The Galahad graced Erebus's skies once again. Lighting blazed behind him as he rocketed through the air, around the building, and into the armoury. He exited a few moments later in his full flight gear, complete with a full face helmet.
He took to the skies again, and made a quick stop near a messenger airship. With a quick wave, the crew inside threw open a window and tossed him a microphone. The visor on his helmet slid open, revealing his tightly closed eyes. The microphone came up to his mouth.
"People of Erebus! The Galahad is leaving the country, but don't fret. He'll be back for tomorrow's opening set!"
"Wait! Before you go!" one of the messengers yelled as the microphone came back, "Can you tell us anything about General Mason...?"
But The Galahad was already floating away, knocking on the side of his head, giving an exaggerated "I can't hear you!" gesture with his hands. He opened his eyes to the sky and let loose a lightning burst for show, before making a quick turn and flying off in the direction of Yggdrasil.
Hm hm hm hm...I'll be flying for about an hour...maybe enough time to practice something...
The Galahad exited the great wall's confines, and ascended up into the clouds. They pulsed with thunder to give him a beat, as he plucked out some scales off his electrified lance.
Location: Mountain range - Ephesus Border.
In front of Archbishop Esdeath was the icy terrain that had killed everything else Ephesus had thrown at it. Behind her was a unit of solders maintaining a rendezvous point. They stopped being a fortification after all of their fortifiers frosted over.
"Well, guess it's up to me. As usual." She muttered, before tracing a path of ice up into the pass. She materialized blades around her feet for her to travel on. She wore a cloak, even thoguh she couldn't feel the cold at all. It was mainly just to make her look slightly more respectable than a figure skater.
On her way in, she passed by several frozen bodies, broken machinery and...what seemed to be living snowflake creatures.
"Cool!" She said with a grin, carrying forward.

"Your highness," Alvis said, opening his eyes. Elsewhere, his wind spirit dissipated in a burst of wind. "It appears that the Lionheart has been isolated. It would be easier to explain if you saw it for yourself."
Glinda nodded. "I see... Ozma, there are matters here I must attend to, first. We will be there shortly."
Glinda opened a rift leading to the entrance of the palace's medical wing. She instructed a pair of the guard to go with him and call for medical staff to escort the wounded.
"That can be arranged," Alexus said to Celeste. He then turned to June, who had finally arrived. "The Lionheart has been isolated to that garment," he said, pointing to the levitating coat. "But more importantly, do you have a tattoo that carries its sigil? If not, go and search and interrogate your other Outlanders to see if they have been infected. The Lionheart must be eradicated by any means necessary.
Do not trust any that claim to go unscathed. The Lionheart will cause some to be dishonest."

"I don't know," June admits. "But I'm not certainly going to examine myself here. I know we can't risk letting any escape, but we can hardly just demand everyone strip down so we can check them. Well, perhaps you can order that of your soldiers, but... Ah, damn it. I don't like the idea of forcing them, but we may have to. Naga only knows what would happen if we sent them back to their own worlds." June folds her arms and thinks for a moment, then narrows her eyes at Alexus. "Do we have a way to remove the mark? Or are you planning to just start butchering people?"

"Any method that would remove a tattoo is effective enough," Alexus said. He held up a fiery fist. "I find it most efficient to cauterize the mark. Painful yes, but it is quick, and the subject would not die with the application of immediate healing magics, so long as it is not located within... the neck, for example."

June glares at Alexus, then sighs. "I have to admit I don't know any better ways... Fine. I'll handle the Outlanders while you deal with the Yuelians."
She heads back inside the tree and calls for the Outlanders to gather around. "Everyone! We've contained the Lionheart. For those of you who haven't been told about it yet, listen carefully! The Lionheart is a living... picture that makes copies of itself. If it's destroyed, it can revive itself from copies. Worse, anyone with a copy can be manipulated by the main body. If you've been marked, we need to remove it immediately. Unfortunately, the marks will make you try to hide them. We'll need to examine everyone. We'll call for some medics and set up some tents to give everyone privacy. If you know or think you've been marked, step forward and we can deal with it quickly!"

Serperior set Horatio down as Togekiss descended. Once Yancy and Serperior hopped off, the Jubilee Pokemon plopped to the ground, panting.
"Thank you, you did wonderfully!" Yancy said, kneeling down to pet him. "Take a break."
Togekiss smiled and nodded as Yancy recalled him.
"Yancy!"
Yancy and Serperior looked up to see Joshua on top of her Togekiss hovering over to her. Once he hopped off, Togekiss transformed back into Ditto, who bent itself backward like one would when they had mild back pain. Not that it had a spine.
"Are you alright? Grinn said she thought she saw it go near you."
"I-I think so, yeah," Yancy said. She rolled her sleeves back to inspect her arms. "I don't... think I was infected..."
John Doe looked into her eyes and nodded.
She's sincere about it, but what if she didn't know she was infected? We have to make... sure...
John Doe tried not to stare as Yancy bent downward to inspect her legs.
...Her Pokemon should be the ones to handle it.
"My word," Ditto said aloud as he jiggled his back. "That Togekiss is stronger than he appears!"
"His spine is quite durable", Serperior commented. "He reached his limit today, but it was an acceptable cost for our fair Lady's safety."
Meanwhile, Irving rolled over his sleeves, then shrugged as he found nothing.
"Didn't feel nothin', but then again I can't feel pain right now."

Alyassa snapped her fingers as the ice shattered underneath her.
"Yawn hopefully that's all if you don't mind I will be taking a nap," Aylasa said as she went back to sleep against a pillar
Baron landed on the surface and transformed back into his human form. "I managed to get off the ground on time,". "But I am not sure about Catie," Baron said as he was worried about Catie.
Baron then noticed Catie was still sound asleep as she was in Talia's grasp.
"Thank you Talia for grabbing Catie," Baron said to Talia.
"We're good but really why is everyone getting so worked up about a magical tattoo?" Ann wondered.
"Ann it has to be something related to this world it has to be something really bad if the others are worried?" Sophie said as she landed with Ann next to June.
"I mean we have magical seals back in our world that make us stronger," Ann said non chalantly.
"La sigh, did you notice anything while we were floating," Sophie asked.
"Yeah there was some grey in your feathers,". "When were you going to tell me about that grey?". "You know me and my sisters have plenty of great products to help you cover that grey," Ann said looking at the roof.
"Ann?" Sophie sighed at Ann's response.
"Oh no magical tattoos of doom, hmm I wonder how much me and my sisters can sell something like that" Ann said pulling out a notebook. "Hmm seeing how much master and second seals are, plus conversion rates and transportation costs," Ann said doing some calculations. "Hey June what how much do you think shipping and handling costs between dimensions is?" Ann asked.
"ANNNN," Sophie said while glaring towards Ann.
"Okay fine sorry for trying to ask about a potential new product," Ann pouted.
"Mrs. June me and Ann are good," Sophie said.
"Excuse me coming through," Starlow said bobbing and weaving through the crowd.
"Umm June, something is wrong with the princess," Starlow said as she landed next to June with Tanooki Mario and Tanooki Peach. "We were talking with some of the others that recently were summoned and well Peach started feeling faint,". "She felt very weak and started to get really warm,". "Mario grabbed her as soon as he could but I think she might have been marked," Starlow told June.
Mario placed the sleeping Peach on the ground next to June. Mario gently lifted Peach's head and removed the hood from her head. Mario then moved Peach's neck and his worst fears were confirmed.
"(Starlow bad news Peach has a tattoo on her neck,)" Mario told Starlow.
"June it's as we fear Peach has been branded by the tattoo," Starlow told Peach.
Rosalina floated to Peach's side as fast she could. "Mother, mom are you okay?" Rosalina asked while hugging Peach.
Luigi was by Mario's side as he looked on. Rosalina was sobbing and hugging Peach while Sophie and Ann rushed to her side.
"No no no I can't lose you again,". "Ann I need your help please," Rosalina asked Ann.
Ann silently nodded as she pulled out a recovery staff. Ann and Rosalina then went ahead and were focusing on trying to awaken Peach.
"What's the big deal with this tattoo thing?" Bowser said lumbering through the crowd.
"If you ask me I am the most powerful and most fearsome thing ever,". "I mean why are we freaking out about something that can make us better,". "If anything I wish this thing did bite me, I wouldn't mind if I were more awesome,". "But alas I guess it wasn't meant to be,". "Has anyone seen Kamek around I could have sworn he was around here somewhere before the water witch blasted him away," Bowser said looking around for Kamek.
"Sire here I am?" Kamek said as he floated towards Bowser extremely soaked.
"Oh you seem like you were swimming in a pool or something, here let me help you dry off," Bowser said as he reared back his head.
"Sire that's fine I don't need to oh no I am about to be roasted," Kamek said as he closed his eyes.
"Much to his surprise the flames were that bad at all. In fact the flames from Bowser actually were gentle and helped him to dry off quickly. "Wow sire when did you learn to control your flames like that?" Kamek asked.
"Oh that well, you are one of my most precious advisors so of course I learned to control my flames," Bowser said gently patting Kamek on his back.
"Hey umm Mario, June did Bowser hit his head or something?" Kamek asked June and Mario.
Lana was by Cia and Glinda's side and was wondering why everyone was panicking.

June takes a deep breath to calm herself and looks between Ann, Bowser, and Kamek. "I just explained about the markings." She focuses in on Ann. "If I even think you're trying to find a way to market or - Naga forbid - make more of them, I am going to-"
Starlow cuts her off. "Another princess...?" June mutters. She shakes her head and speaks up. "OK. That's... damn it. Why did it have to be on her neck?" She nearly knocks the staff from Ann's hand. "Wait! Don't try to wake her up! She's breathing fine. It's safer to let her sleep for now."
She pulls out that weird communication thingy Alvis gave her and fiddles with it for a moment. He's somewhere around the tree, but hunting him down amid the chaos would be more trouble than it's worth. "Alvis? Can you hear me? As soon as possible, I need you to divert some medics our way. All the Outlanders are going to need full examinations. We've got at least one person marked." Talia takes a seat with Catie in her lap and proceeds to cuddle her. She waves dismissively at Baron. "She certainly is a heavy sleeper. How cute." Horatio nods at Yancy. "Thank you." So she has more of those creatures? They all seem different. I wonder how many...
He ignores the burning coming from his leg and all the ruckus as he returns to treating the injured soldiers.

"But Jjjjjjjjjjuuuuuuuunnneeeee just think of the marketing potential,". "Besides we have seals in our world that allow us to become more powerful,". "We even got items like magical bouquets," Ann protested.
Sophie just face palms at Ann's notion and lets out a sigh. "Oh Naga what am I going to do with you?" Sophie said to Ann.
"Well marry me for one," Ann said.
"I wonder why I did sometime," Sophie replies.
"Because of the booty," Ann said. "Now then Mrs. June said Granny Peach is fine for now," Ann said as she placed the recovery staff away.
Rosalina takes a sigh of relief that Peach is breathing. Rosalina then looks around and looks embarrassed about what she said. Rosalina's face is extremely red and she seems flustered.
"Umm Sophie, Ann, Mario I didn't call Peach mom again did I," Rosalina asked.
"Umm Mama Rosalina well the important thing is Granny is going to be fine right," Sophie replied.
"Oh no in front of everyone to," Rosalina sighed.
Luigi went to comfort Rosalina who was blushing heavily now.
Poulterpup was running around Corva continuing to Bark and wag his tail.
"Yeah it was really crazy before we got inside the tree,". "There was an unending sea of winged monkies, a dragon perched on top of the tree,". "There was a lot going on I am surprised at how composed she was," Baron said gently rubbing Catie's head.
"She hasn't seen this much action in a long time,". "It's probably why she was able to stay asleep during that ruckus,". "That girl though she is certainly very special," Baron said as he leaned in and kisses her forehead.
Catie's nose twitched a bit and her ears flap a bit. Catie's tail also gently wags almost like it is subconsciously responding to something.

"Alvis, what did Lady June just say?" Glinda asked.
"...It seems that some of the Outlanders have been infected by The Lionheart."
Glinda's face grew dim. "I see... We must arrange for the marks to be eradicated. Those who have been identified as infected should partake in mandatory laser tattoo removal procedure. For those unaware... I suppose searches can be arranged..."
"I do not believe these Outlanders would appreciate having their naked bodies inspected no matter how we explain ourselves, nor which of our qualified physicians does it," Alvis said.
Glinda sighed. "I suppose we can't force it to be mandatory, can we? Not without upsetting them; we need their favor. Hmm..."
"May I suggest we discuss this with the Outlander's leader available for input?" Cia said.
"A sound idea," Glinda said, still in thought.
Alvis cleared his throat. "Regardless, I believe a boost in our soldiers' morale is in order. Cia, are you prepared to meet your audience?"
"Oh dear," Cia said, running a hand through her hair. "I hope I look presentable, considering I was dunked in a fountain not ten minutes ago."
Alvis chuckled. "Seeing you in good health will be enough, I'm sure."
Glinda, Alvis, and her bodyguards rejoined the army in the central hall. Seeing her, all the soldiers that weren't wounded, tending to the wounded, or Legionnaires turned and bowed toward her.
"No need for the formalities," Glinda announced. "I bring delightful news: not only have your valiant efforts driven way the Ephesian threat and allowed Yuleia to successfully occupy Yggdrasil -- the most sacred landmark in Oz -- but using the sacred waters flowing through this tree, we have successfully awoken a great ally, and one of our closest, most beloved allies."
Cia stepped forward and waved a hand in greeting. Triumphant cheers and applause erupted from the soldiers, causing her to laugh nervously as she bowed to them. "You've all humbled me! Thank you. I owe you all my life."
"That is why today, I do not wish to see you bow to me. Instead, I must bow to you, for making is possible." The queen lowered her staff to bow to her soldier. "Thank you, from the bottom of my heart."
Initial reactions ranged from silent shock, to confused glances, to disbelief, but eventually the sounds gave way to those of triumph, gratitude, and pride, from pats on the back, to promises of celebrating with drink, or pledges of newfound loyalty to their queen.
After a second, Glinda and company waded into the crowd to make their way toward the crowd of Outlanders.
"Lady June?" Cia said, the first to reach them. "My name is Cia. I am the summoner who brought you to this world. I apologize for your... less-than-ideal welcoming, and perhaps you may resent me for it, but I feel I must personally thank you for saving my life."
"You have my gratitude as well," Glinda echoed. "But tell me, what is the situation with the Lionheart? Who have been identified as infected?"
After the speech, John Doe and Yancy watched the queen approach the crowd of Outlanders.
"We should go join them," John Doe said.
Yancy nodded in agreement as she held a Pokeball. "Serperior, come back!"
The serpent looked back, then allowed herself to return to the device. Ditto gave one last stretch before leaping onto Doe's arm and sliding under the sleeves of his suit.
John Doe was about to walk forward when he felt Yancy squeeze his arm with her own.
"I think we should stick together," she said. "Just in case."
"...Yeah."
The two waded through the crowd to join the others.
