"Huh...those guys are fighting? Oh, I get it. She's a bad guy! I guess I should help then..." A magic aura surrounds Mystic before she snaps her fingers, causing a bolt of electricity to drop from the sky on top of Elia.

A bolt of lightning from another outlander took Elia by surprise. It sent her a few feet backwards, but she recovered reasonably quickly and summoned a burst of magic to stun the new combatant.
That's going to really start hurting if this battle wears on...

Sophie is still unsure about whats going on. "Wait we are really fighting but what happened to talking?" Sophie wonders. "Don't want to hurt her," Sophie says as she readies her bow. "Ann fall back it might get dangerous and we need your skills with the staff," Sophie told Ann
Ann agrees and begins retreating towards the back.
Sophie takes aim at Elia making it pretty obvious that she is aiming for Elia and lets loose a couple of arrows.

Having been given the honors, Yancy pushed the door inwards.
"G-Good morning, everyone!"
At this point, Grinn and Zoroark were the only ones in Joshua's room that was already awake; the ghost practicing "scare faces" in the mirror while the fox sat at the foot of the bed sharpening his claws. The two of them jolted in surprise upon hearing Yancy, while Ditto and Rotom began to stir from their slumber in response. Grinn did a brief, joyous laugh, while Zoroark smirked and reached over to Manaphy to nudge her awake (slightly violently, since she's slow to wake otherwise). As soon as the two child Pokemon's visions unblurred and saw Yancy standing by the door, they both gasped and tearfully tackled Yancy into a hug, so much so that she staggered back a few steps from the force.
Yancy giggled as she wrapped a hand around the two of them (carefully, in the Plasma Pokemon's case) and snuggled with them, finding it funny how Manaphy forgot to wipe the small bead of drool running down its chin. "Awww, I'm sorry you two had to worry. But don't worry, I don't plan on leaving you two again anytime soon. Not on my watch!"
The other three Pokemon gathered around Yancy to say their greetings as Joshua stood to the side. After a moment, he cleared his throat and address his Pokemon. "I feel bad for cutting this reunion short, but something came up, and we have to go sit the kids for a while," he said. "We can let Yancy's Pokemon out once we're there, though."
The Pokemon nodded in understanding as they started dispersing away from the former idol. Joshua let Manaphy wipe her happy tears (and drool) away before recalling them into their Pokeballs.
"Let's just take a quick stop to get them breakfast to go," Joshua said. "Do you want anything?"
Yancy shook her head. "Well, from my point of view, we just ate..."
"Right," Joshua said, forgetting that her sense of time is displaced from his. "Okay, let's go."
Yancy nodded as Joshua locked the door to his room and they began a brisk walk toward the kitchen.
"How have your Pokemon been handling this?" Yancy asked.
"They've obviously missed you and your Pokemon, but I think they're taking this whole thing rather well, all things considered," Joshua said. "...How about you? How are you taking this?"
"To be honest, I don't think I've been able to process everything just yet," Yancy answered. "Maybe it will sink in fully when things get quiet and I get a chance to just... reflect."
Joshua pursed his lips in understanding. "I'm just concerned that today will get a lot more hectic before you'll be able to get that chance."

Irving panted as he yanked his machete away from another now-deceased monkey's shoulder. He wiped the sweat off his brow as he attempted to regain some stamina. To his right, the battle raged on within the barrier. He couldn't tell how the no-doubt-spectacular battle was faring. Occasional bits-and-pieces were all that he was able to catch: the enemy deflecting a rain of arrows, a blast of magic, a flash of light, inaudible yelling, or someone receiving a relatively light injury. To his left, Alexus, the Yuleian soldiers, and the other Outlanders are doing their best to stand their ground against the monkey horde, but it's becoming clear that they're losing ground at an uncomfortable rate, with fatigue, culmination of various injuries, and potential shortage of ammunition starting to take its toll on the majority of the fighters.
Damn, can't these guys finish things a lil' faster? We aren't gonna last very long at this rate.
Irving holstered his pistol to free his hand and reach for one of the tanks of healing magic he's stockpiled, as he's received more than his fair share of relatively light, if still painful, cuts and bruises. As he fumbled with the device, he was caught off guard by a piercing screech from his blindspot. He gasped in pain and surprise as a monkey tackled him from his left. The wind got knocked out of his lungs as he collided with the magical barrier, which hit him with another force strong enough to knock him a few feet away. The healing device dropped down to the grass.
Cursing himself for worrying about how the others were doing instead of just concentrating on surviving for now, Irving tried to stand despite feeling like the world around him was spinning. His blurry vision adjusted just enough to make out the silhouette of something with a sharp object coming closer. He forced himself to at the very least lean back in an attempt to evade a swing, but the blade still managed to slash his right arm.
"AAGH!"
Irving fell backward again. Facing his attacker, he tried to pull himself away despite his burning arm, another horizontal swing just barely grazing his shoulder. This time, the monkey changed tactics by lunging forward and hitting Irving with the hilt of his blade. With the young man stunned and crumpled on the ground, the monkey raised an arm, and...
...Was smashed with a large sword thrown through its back, now planted into the ground by Irving's side as he started trembling, feeling a way-too-familiar surge welling up inside him.
"Inept cur!" Alexus bellowed at Irving, now holding naught but a dagger as a weapon. "The queen truly thought your lot would win us this war?! Stand and fight! You are reputed to be above the common rabble, demonstrate that such conjecture is not unfounded!"
...Hah...
Irving's fists clenched as he knelt face down to the ground. Another monkey crashed to the ground in front of him, a bullet hole in a wing the cause of its sudden descent. Clutching a spear, the enraged creature scrambled up, and found a new target in the form of Irving. It lumbered toward him, spear raised overhead, ready to skewer him.
Irving's arm suddenly shot out and gripped the beast's ankle. The abomination yelled out as bones broke, and his footing was yanked out from under him. The Outlander that just seconds ago struggled to even stand shot up, grabbed the creature by the head with surprising strength, and brought it directly toward Alexus's blade planted beside them. A smile formed in Irving's face as he let his attacker fall dead to the ground.
He sprang up despite his wounds and reached for the Devil Arm. Alexus immediately looked over at Irving in shock as his fingers wrapped around the hilt.
"Watch closely, ass****!" Irving yelled back at him. "You ever see the rabble do this?!"
Irving effortlessly picked up the blade with one hand and charged into another swarm of abominations. One monkey tried to block his path, which Irving knocked to the air with a backhand from his free hand. He raised the Devil Arm and brought it down upon a monkey with an overhead swing, before spinning around and cleaving a line of the creatures with a horizontal swing. Without missing a beat, he turned and tackled another monkey trying to strike from behind, plunging the blade through the abdomen with such force that the beast was lifted off the ground. Another monkey charged forward. With the distance between them too small for a strike from the blade, Irving shot his free arm out towards the neck. After a crunching sound followed the tightening of the grip, Irving threw the corpse toward another monkey he happened to spot during the air. He noticed something at the corner of his eye. He swung around and heaved the sword toward his target. A wide-eyed Alexus witnessed his own blade fly past him to embed itself into another monkey that tried to attack him from behind.
"Enough gawking!" Irving growled at the Legionnaire. "There's killin' to be done, after all!"
With a laugh, Irving turned back to see if there were any soldiers that could use his help. Were he of sound mind, he might have noticed that most of his wounds had been healed.
Alexus watched for a few seconds longer before turning to pluck his weapon out of his arm. If one were attentive to his expression, one could say with some degree of certainty that he seemed almost... impressed.
After what felt like an eternity of fighting, a strange sound made Irving turn back toward the battle near the tree's entrance.
The barrier's...!
"The force field has dissipated!" Alexus announced to the other soldiers. "This is our opportunity! Advance into Yggdrasil! Go!"
A blood-soaked Irving noticed a flash of light burst out where the other Outlanders had gathered. He sprinted over, catching a what seemed like a bright card flutter to the ground before the light faded. He couldn't get a good look at the image on it, but it looked like it was in black-and-white.
Irving made quick scan of the group and the battle. "June, what happened? What happened to the other Outlander?"

A few minutes earlier, back at Yuelia's palace...
A red-tailed hawk screeched outside, dived down, and landed on the balcony. It was a hawk Vincent instantly recognized. He opened the balcony doors and walked outside. He gently stroked the hawk's feathers, checking her for wounds. "So you were sent here with me after all... Forgive me for not noticing sooner, old friend."
Raijin screeches again and lowers her head, as if trying to draw attention to... A ring? She had a ring clutched in her talons...
Vincent's eyes widen in realization and he pales as he takes the ring. It only takes a moment of concentration for him to locate a flash of his wife's magick. He turns back to the room and yells for his children, as he rushes back inside. "Leo! Aris! Emergency! Go find Joshua and tell him I'm leaving for the battlefield earlier than planned! Use your powers to stay hidden! Don't have time to explain!"
Leo and Aris are too stunned to argue and simply nod. Already in his armor, Vincent hastily grabs his weapons and melts into darkness. In his haste, he leaves the mask on the table. Once in the Shadow World, Vincent unleashes some of his true power. His hair turns stark white, and his eyes turn a dark, swirling gold. There was no telling what he was about to step into.
------
Nobunaga, the Demon King, stepped into chaos. He appeared amidst a swirling vortex of darkness, and immediately began laying waste to Flying Monkeys in all directions. Giant blasts of death magic flew from his free hand, while his other hand cut down enemy after enemy with impossibly fast strikes from Masamune. Black lightning crackled around him, and a towering surge of magic pulsated around him like shockwaves as he waded into battle, heading in the direction of the first Outlander he saw- June. The amount of magic he emanated was in a different league than the fight against Mason. He wore the Yuelian crest haphazardly draped over his shoulder in the form of a half-cloak he had bought in town previously, only to signify he was an ally to Yuelia's army.
By the time he had reached June, he had cut a huge swath of destruction across the battlefield. He noticed the card in June's hand, but didn't think anything of it at first. Until he caught a glimpse of the picture on the card. "Field report," he says immediately.
"And perhaps you'd care to tell me why that magic card has a picture of my wife on it," he adds, turning to blast another group of monkeys in anger.

June shakily rises to her feet, using her staff to support herself. "R-right..." she takes a deep breath and speaks calmly, but quickly. "Field report. Linked up with Legionairres. Encountered two Outlanders supporting Ephesus. One mage, one dragon. Mage was projecting a barrier to prevent entry to Yggdrasil. Attempted diplomacy. Negotiations interrupted by third party. Opposing mage...... slain. Barrier destroyed."

"I... See."
Vincent gingerly takes the card from June, looks at it, and gently slips it into his coat pocket. He then looks around and swiftly sizes up the situation, his mind working and calculating at lightning fast speeds. His turbulent emotions, panic, and adrenaline surged, making his mind even clearer and sharper. In an instant, he knew what he had to do.
"I'm going to the tree to revive her. Hold the monkeys at bay for as long as you can... And keep the Legionaries out as well. If any of them get in my way, they will die. After that... Prepare to retreat. This situation is not favorable. At this rate, even if we successfully capture the tree, Yuelia will not be able to hold it."
He doesn't wait for June's response. He vanishes into the darkness and appears right in front of the tree's entrance, then rushes inside. It doesn't take him long at all to locate the Spring of Life. He can sense the magic emanating from it as clear as day. He finds the spring just a little deeper in, and kneels in front of it. He very gently takes the card out of his pocket and places it in the glowing water.
A blinding flash of light bursts from the card, forcing Vincent to shield his eyes. When the light clears, Elia lays floating in the shallow water, wearing a black battlesuit and helmet. Vincent gently gathers her into his arms and takes off her helmet, tossing it aside. When her eyes flutter open, tears well in his eyes.
"Good morning, Sunshine," he says softly, tenderly brushing her hair out of her face.

"We don't-" June protests. But Vinnie is gone.
"...Form up and hold position! Grab every Legionairre that passes and tell them to form a defensive line here! Someone find that bullheaded general and tell him the commander's ordered a retreat! If we don't move as a unit, stragglers will get torn to shreds!" June shouts. Not that she expects Alexus will listen.

Meanwhile, at the highest branches of the world tree...
The Lord of the Earth Dragons is surrounded by a seemingly infinite army of flying pests. With every beat of his mighty wings, he sends hundreds and hundreds of them hurtling to their deaths. And every time, without fail, more and more appear. They cannot breach his scales, and he can't exterminate them. This stalemate seems to last for an eternity. And then something changes. First, Ethan notices Elia's magic weakening. He had noticed her battle before, but had judged she could take care of herself. Especially since he was busy dealing with pests. But then, suddenly, her barrier disappeared, and any trace of her magic vanished. Panicked, Ethan searched the battlefield far below for any trace of her. He saw nothing, save for the Yuelian Outlanders she had been battling. He came to the only natural conclusion.
At first, he felt nothing. And then memories surged within him, bubbling to the forefront of his mind. For a moment, he was no longer atop the World Tree, but locked in the past, in a different world, thousands of lifetimes ago. Elia had been young, and a mother. She had a family of her own to return to. He had sworn he would aid her, and in the end, he had failed. He had failed yet again. Elia's face fades and is replaced by another. He sees Ephidel standing over her broken body. He screams.
-----
To all others, it looked as if the huge dragon had suddenly gone still. For a few minutes, the dragon simply stayed rooted in place, unmoving. And then his eyes shot open and he unleashed an earthshaking, bloodcurdling, terrifying roar that echoed across the mountain tops and shook the ground below. It was a sound of agony and despair and madness and rage, a horrifying sound that would turn the toughest hearts cold with fear. An incomparable pillar of dark energy suddenly erupts from the top of the World Tree with the force of an erupting volcano. It rockets into the heavens, blasting away the clouds in every direction.
The Earth Dragon then rises into the air, riding a hurricane of darkness, and opens his maw. The massive beam of pure, primal energy shoots across the horizon. In an instant, the entirety of the monkey horde is annihilated. Countless explosions erupt in the sky, buffetting the battlefield below with gale force winds and concussive shockwaves. The dragon god beats his wings and creates an almighty thunderstorm as he flies, creating a maelstrom of wind and rain and lightning more powerful than a hurricane. He begins to descend over the battlefield, like a looming mountain falling to earth. His gargantuan shadow blots out the sun.

Joshua suddenly stopped his brisk pace through the palace hallways, some foam trays in his hands. He squinted to the shadows cast off by some stone columns.
"What is it?" Yancy asked.
"Thought I saw something," Joshua answered.
Irving certainly wasn't in a mood to turn down a chance at spilling more blood, so Irving shrugged and did what June said. The rank and file soldiers didn't really complain much when he told them to stay outside, seeing as it lets them shoot at some of the monkeys pestering their slower comrades. It wasn't until the general barreled their way that someone really resisted.
Irving held out an arm to block off Alexus. "Sorry, but our commander told us to play defense here, and that you should sound the retreat."
"What?!" Alexus exclaimed. "What we seek is within our grasp! What purpose would retreating now serve?!"
"...Good question," Irving shrugged. "Hey June, why're we--"
An earth-shaking roar shout out from the remaining hostile Outlander overhead, followed by a stream of lasers that destroyed most of the monkey hoard blotting out the skies, leaving only the stragglers closest to the ground left to be stunned as fierce winds and rainfall came down. The soldiers were forced to kneel to stabilize their footing.
Alexus kept himself steady by stabbing the ground with his blade. He roared out at June. "Use your head, Outlander! Why in Roshi's name should we turn the other way into the mountains, when the safest sanctuary is directly behind you?!"

In his madness, in his rage, there was nothing but destruction. All the pain and loss and despair of thousands of years rushed back all at once. The flying titan opened his maw again and unleashed another beam of destruction. It traced an arc of light across the sky before it impacted one of the tallest mountains on the south end of the valley. The mountain exploded. The scale of the explosion was impossible to describe and difficult to comprehend. One moment there was a mountain there, a huge, immovable structure of nature, formed over countless millennia. And the next moment, there was nothing. Nothing except a gigantic crater where the mountain used to be.
The shockwaves of the incomparable explosion tore across the valley, uprooting trees and sending them flying in the wind. Even Yggdrasil itself seemed to creak and sway violently.

"Because the commander ordered it!" June answers, picking herself up after the gale. "But the situation's chan-"
Boom.
June picks herself up and waits for her ears to stop ringing. When it doesn't happen, she signals to the tree and yells louder. "Full retreat! Into the tree! Anyone with a weapon that can harm a god, anyone that can fly, rear guard! There's a weakness in the nape of his neck! He... He can be defeated...!" June steps forward towards the dragon as if being controlled, even though her every conscious thought says to flee.

Earlier, back at the palace...
Leo and Aris materialize out of shadows, appearing in the hallway right behind Joshua and Yancy. "Dad says there's been an emergency!" They say in unison. "He said to find you and tell you that he's gone to the battlefield ahead of time. Knowing him, he's already arrived".

That doesn't sound good.
Joshua thought a minute. "Okay. Your room is closer than mine is, so let's go there. Stick close."
"Did he tell you what's happening?" Yancy asked as they began to move.

Bowser Jr. Bowser Jr was bored it seemed like his dad was gone for an eternity. The two magikoopas left behind were at the libary Princess Lana showed them. "Man I am so bored wonder what the kids and Joshie are doing?" Bowser Jr. said.
Bowser Jr was wondering the hall ways when he saw Joshie along with a pink haired princess. "Hey is that the same girl that Joshie was talking about," Bowser Jr. said. "Well might as well nothing else to do here," Bowser Jr. said
Bowser Jr hoped into his clown car/helicopter thing and went chasing after Joshua. When he caught up to Joshua he was standing at a doorway outside of the twins room.
"Joshie I am bored can we do something fun," Bowser Jr asked Joshie.
Lana
Lana was with her mom waiting for the word that the tree was under there control. "I hope they are able to do this," Lana thought. "If anyone can save Cia its them," Lana thought.
"So mom any word yet?" Lana asked Glinda.

Tree Crew
"Well that dragon finally decided to make his move, good I was growing bored with his minions," Bowser said cracking his knuckles. "Stand back and watch how a pro takes him down," Bowser said as he raised his fists in triumph. Bowser was ready for battle but was stopped by Sophie.
"Hey Bowser one problem you have no long range weapons and look at that thing,". "You really think your going to get anywhere close to even lay a finger on him before he obliterates you with a single blast,". Bowser looks like he wants to object but Sophie stops him. "Go and keep Nobunaga and the others safe inside the tree," Sophie ordered Bowser who more or less agreed. Bowser more or less went stomping towards the entrance and was mumbling something about birds.
"Ann get inside also as our primary healer we need you healing powers right away,". Ann understood and went into the tree as well. "Mario and Starlow its been a long time,". Mario let out an oh yeah as Starlow nodded. "Mario you still know that move right Ultima?" Sophie asked Mario. Mario replied by shaking his head yes.
"Yes he still knows the move but well he can only use it once and it still takes a tremendous amount of energy," Starlow told Sophie.
"Hmm so we only have one shot at this and its going to be extremely difficult to get him close enough," Sophie sighed.
"Did you forget who you are talking to this is the legendary Mario if anyone can do this its him," Starlow said.
"Still its too risky, with an out of control dragon deity and all these monkies and plus something just feels wrong," Sophie said. "I mean I though the Monkies were a result of the dragon and he somehow had control over them but something doesn't feel right," Sophie told Starlow. "Mario I leave it up to you if you think you can do it then its up to you," Sophie told Mario.
"Oh yeah," Mario said in much excitement. "Lets a go," Mario said as he was getting excited.
"Catie fall back with the others," Baron told Catie. "He's here so you will be much safer with Vin around,". Catie looked like she wanted to protest. "Catie now is not the time for this you would do much better with your skills from behind the army,". "Besides if I knew you were safe then I can fight with no worries,". Catie still wasn't still happy but understood and went towards the tree.
"Well this dragon might be impressive but I was also trained by a god and a legendary vampire knight," Baron said with a smile on his face.
"Well looks like its time to take down a dragon lord," Aylassa said. Unfortunately for her the battles with the monkeys and maintaining her form it was starting to show. Her wings of ice had cracks forming on them and were starting to shatter. Aylassa's tail was also cracking shattering at once. "Shoot its starting to wear off, sorry guys I reach my limit, looks like I have to retreat to the tree" Aylassa said as her tail and wings shattered into a million pieces.
"Okay commander let us know when you want us to make our move," Sophie tells June.

Yggdrasil spasmed. Its branches shook, leaves rattled, and limbs creaked as if groaning in exertion and pain. A sickly green glow crept up the tree, sweeping trunk to bough. And then suddenly... AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!A scream. From everywhere. MY FLESH!And all at once, The ground beneath the world tree violently convulsed. Like whales beneath a fishing boat, it was an earthquake wrought by some massive organism shifting beneath Roshi's equivalent of tectonic plates. The first response for a newly created wound surged toward the new crater site. The clouds above it twisted until they tore apart, and the low resounding pulse of the air being torn into a isolating cyclone blanketed the surrounding mountainsides. The wind all around the crater swirled inwards, scraping in debris from the previous mountain for resource recycling. The crater exploded as new earth rose from below. The old crust broke and dissolved away as matter from within the planet deity breached the surface. MY BLOOD!And all at once, thousands of magma geysers erupted from the rising mountain as the wound was regenerated, billowing into the air. World-melting heat and flames was contained within the cyclone as Flying Monkeys, Winkie mechs, and lumbering Kalidahs spawned from the air , flames, and rock. They swarmed the surface of the rising magma as it cooled, shaping it while the structure climbed, like termites on the world's largest mound. Caverns, plateaus, peaks, and valleys were reinstating themselves as magma glaciers swept through and around the mountain being reborn. And all at once, the earth beneath the ruined forest below softened and opened up to re-absorb the trees that had been displaced. No nutrients were wasted as the fallen flora was fertilized. Soil became rich again and the wind rattled those trees still standing. Seeds and loose sprigs were shaken off and carried away, to eventually re-grow and repopulate the damage. MY TEARS!And all at once, the thunder and lightning ceased. Up above, every cloud in air stalled briefly against the wind before breaking formation and darting towards the mountain. The sky brightened to a harsh glare as the clouds spontaneously condensed and converged onto a single point above the newly forming mountain, inside the protective vacuum. The water first formed a bubble, but then froze hard into a gem-like ice cocoon. In the sunlight, a figure was almost visible inside the crystal, although heavily obscured by its unearthly phosphorescent green glow. Streams of water steadily flowed from the cocoon to the forest and mountain below, watering the saplings, carving the mountainside, adding the finishing touches to the terraforming effort. MY BREATH!And once the planet was set on its corrective course, only then, did the cocoon break.
The crystal opened and the Witch emerged, a carbon black entity swathed in a flaming green aura, matching that of the one coating the still twitching Yggdrasil. Its once humanoid structure had turned bestial. Serrated claws hung from its limbs, and curved horns adorned it head. The twin pauldron-like plates on its shoulders evoked the heads of hell hounds, each with two green glowing eyes to match the ones on its face. It no longer appeared to have legs. Its torso faded into the ends of a tattered cloak from which its aura burned brightest, like a broomstick set ablaze. MY HOME!It held out an arm, and a flood of diamond dust spewed forth, swarming around and beneath the Witch as the dust came into formation. The Witch had seen the pathogen harming its planet the moment it arrived. As it nestled in the branches of Yggdrasil over the past days, it knew that preparations would be necessary to eliminate it. The pathogen's body was immensely powerful. There was not yet a suitable anti-body in the Witch's repertoire that could combat it equally. It had to bide time and analyze it. Spread diamond dust in the ash. Waft it onto its scales, and infiltrate its breath. Record its form, it's strength, its magic. Conclusion: The most best anti-body it could summon...was a carbon copy. NOT!
YOURS!And when the dust settled, fused to the Witch's lower half was a mountainous dark dragon. Empty eyes and diamond-like skin bursting with the Witch's green aura, it perched on the still rising mountain, stretching wings that rivalled it in size. The ice crystal above it split, vaporized, and exploded into a hurricane storm spiral that blanketed the sky. It roared as thunder clapped with an earthshaking intensity, and darkness erupted from its body as the dragon-like form rocketed skywards towards its offending mirror. Time for some phagocytosis.
