Irving considered the offer, hesitating slightly at the notion of physical contact that would likely be involved. He swallowed and braced to deal with it.
"Okay then", said Irving. He held his weapon toward the bridges. "Start by heading over there. The soldiers in black armor are the enemy."
He took a breath and took her hand.

June helps Weird-Weapon swing up behind her. "Yell if you're about to fall," she tells him. She starts Marth at a walk. When Mr. Weapon doesn't fall off, she starts picking up speed, heading for the bridge.
"We've got about a minute for introductions, so let's make this quick. I'm June, qu- a knight of Carcina. I specialize in axework, but I can use bows, knives, and heal staves - I just don't have any. Just my axes and some... strange pieces of paper. So, what's your name? Anything I need to know about those guys? And do you want me to drop you off, or do you want to keep riding?"

"You're probably what they call an Outlander," Irving said, "so you've been brought from your world into 'nother one like the rest of us. We fight for a Queendom named Yuleia now. The guys in black are eff-ee-see-ahns, and they're tryin' to invade and we're tryin' to hold them 'em off until the army can move out. For now, that's all ya need. After the fights over, me or someone else can give ya better details. Ain't fought much of 'em, but if you see anyone carrying a weapon like this", Irving held out his ryfel so that she could see, "then watch it; they and shoot dangerous... what's the word? Project-tils? Anyway, just take 'em out first before they hit you; they hit hard and from a distance. Their general is no joke; carries a bigass flail and makes craters like nothing. He's the one shouting like a madman. You can't miss him.
Name's Irving, by the way. Just drop me off once we get close enough."

"I understand. Thanks for the advice." June pulls Marth to a halt near the bridge and jumps down. She offers Irving a hand to help him down.
"Alright, Marth, go find somewhere safe, alright? At least until I figure out what exactly we're fighting. Be ready if I call you," she tells her horse. Marth snorts, then turns and begins to retreat. "I'll stay nearby, Sir Irving, so let me know if I need to adjust my fighting style."
With that, June pulls the massive axe from her back and begins to advance on the nearest group of ogres stumbling through the river. The lead ogre raises his weapon, and June waits until the last second to leap into the air. The ogre tries to adjust his aim, but he doesn't manage to draw a bead on June before she brings Armads slamming into his skull. The weight of the axe and the force of her fall is more than enough to bring the monster down. As he falls to his knees, the pair of ogres directly behind him join in the fight.
June slams Armads into the dead ogre's chest, wheeling him about between herself and one of the two. The other raises his weapon, but June throws her hatchet at him. The hit stuns him just long enough for her hatchet to reappear in her hand and grant her a second throw. Her second shot hits its mark, and the ogre falls to the ground dead. The third ogre opens fire, peppering June's makeshift corpse-shield. She waits for him to stop to reload, but this... thing is firing ridiculously fast, and doesn't seem to be running out of arrows. As the shots begin to send silver-colored shards of the ogre's corpse flying, June pulls Armads free, ducking down and using its head as a shield. I just have to wait for a chance to counterattack...

Irving quickly scanned the battlefield for any sign of the Ephesian general, but turned his attention back to the battlefield as he noticed a mage and a battalion of four other footsoldiers having made it across the river. Hoping that they were still somewhat blinded enough by the dark fog, Irving ran up to the soldier most distant from the group and swung his machete across the soldier's leg. The man screamed in pain right before Irving shot him point-blank with a Type-7 shot.
"Hah!"
Irving shouted and turned to face the mage as he switched to a type-1 slot and held down the trigger. They turned to him, his position given away by the loud noises he gave away. The mage raised a palm outward and Irving fired, erecting a wall of light. The blast the mage conjured hit the wall and reflected back toward the conjurer and his cohorts, destroying them all in one fell swoop. Irving ejected the slot and was about to look for more hostiles when something on the body of the soldier he shot caught his eye. He knelt down and picked up the small, black object on the soldier's belt. He inspected it. It looked nothing like a ryfel, but it seemingly had a barrel (that he briefly peered his eye into) and a similar trigger.
His attention was then taken away by a series of loud noises coming from the river. He put the object away and turned to see an Ogre with something strapped to their arm pelting a corpse June was hiding behind with projectiles. Irving grunted before inserting a type-2 slot into his ryfel.
I love large targets.
Irving sprinted to the Ogre from behind. He brandished his machete to thrust it into the back of the Ogre's knee, causing it to lose its balance and stop shooting at June. Irving pulled out his machete from the Ogre. He noticed a suspicious lack of blood on the machete, but didn't have the time to think about it as he sheathed it. He pulled his ryfel at the Ogre's midsection as it turned to face the person who ambushed it.
"It's all ogre for you!"
Irving fired a dark projectile that right the ogre right in the side and...
...Nothing happened. The projectile vanished in a small burst without disintegrating the Ogre, just like if Irving shot a wall instead of a living thing.
...Wait, what?
Irving was then backhanded by the Ogre and thrown backward to the ground. The ogre began to bring his gatling gun toward Irving as he struggled to pick himself up.

June doesn't stop to ask why the beast's barrage let up, she just steps out of cover and charges. She sees Irving fire some kind of black-colored... magic-arrow-thing into the ogre. It just seems to annoy the monstrosity, who turns and smacks Irving sailing. Before Irving can get up, it starts to raise its weapon.
June closes the last of the distance before it can fire. June sees a large gash in the back of its knee. "You will not..." June drives Armads into the wound. The force of the blow causes it to stagger, and she uses the opportunity to reverse her grip. "Touch him!" She drives her axe into the ogre's chest. As the monster falls, she makes sure it's truly dead with a blow to the head.
"Sir Irving!" June calls out. Why do I have Armads, but no heal staff, no medicine!? "Are you alive? Can you stand?"

Tennineeightsevensixfivefourthreetwoone... Alright, still sane for now. Am I still under the effects of the Type-4 shot?
Irving coughed as he used his ryfel as support to pull himself up.
"Stop with the 'sir' stuff, alright?" he grunted. After pulling himself back up, he stumbled over to the now dead ogre, specifically the open wound in its chest. He inspected it and found the insides of the ogre to be made of metal, with some electricity flowing out of severed lines of... something.
"What the hell?" muttered Irving. "What is this?"

"How in Grima's name should I know!? I don't even know where I am; for all I know, that's normal here! And does it even matter right now? If you hit them hard enough they stop moving, and that's good enough for me!" June points at another group about to reach the shore. "Judging from that armor, you specialize in ranged combat, right? This thing's corpse should make good cover. I'll keep their eyes on me, and you work your magic... arrow... thing. That work for you?"
He's young, but he seems pretty experienced...

Location: Yuleia Barracks
"And then the giant said that I reminded him of a cross-dressing princess. I didn't know whether to be flattered or insulted!"
A slightly larger round of laughter wafted through the crowd.
"Tough crowd tonight," a General standing at the front continued, "Though I hope your fighting spirits are more shapely than your senses of humour!"
...
"We have war drums right?"
The general casually broke ranks and went looking for a drum. They weren't being sent out to fight just yet, but the tension was still high among the troops. The general grabbed a drum almost comically larger than himself (it was meant to be pulled by cart), hoisted it up onto a table without the slightest bit of effort, and whipped some sticks out of nowhere.
"Excuse me if I'm a bit rusty. Feel free to join in!"
And he laid into it with the skill of an expert drumming bard.
BOOM! BOOM BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM BOOM!
...the assembled soldiers were quite used to this one's fondness for entertainment, but they still weren't exactly following.
BOOM! *CLICK* BOOM BOOM! *CLICK* BOOM! BOOM!*CLICK* BOOM BOOM! *CLICK*
And now he was hitting the drum and the sides of the drum.
BOOM! rata-*CLICK* BOOM rata-BOOM! *CLICK* rata-BOOM! ratatat-BOOM BOOM! rata-*CLICK*
And now he was scraping against his armour to add a third sound. It was a rather modern sound by most people's standards, but most of the soldiers hear hadn't heard beat anything close to it. The concept of "funky" was floating nameless through their heads and for some reason the word "sick" was slowly garnering a positive connotation.
It only took one person bashing their shield in time. The rest feel like dominoes.
The lead drummer smiled.
I call this the hip-hop paeon, kupo!

Great. My type-2 is useless against these things.
"Alright, we'll play it your way", said Irving. "Keep an eye out for the guy in the mask you talked to earlier. Tell me if you happen to see him."
Irving reloaded his ryfel while adjacent to the fallen ogre and began firing off at the Ephesians.

Location; Joshua's Day care
"Um 10 gold," Bowser Jr looked at Joshua with much confusion. "I have idea what you mean about money and stuff," Bowser Jr told Joshua. "Well anyways do you have anything else to offer me, perhaps one of your minions that would be a fair offer?" Bowser Jr asked. "Come on Joshie, if you want me to keep this secret you have to sweeten the deal," Bowser Jr told Joshua innocently

Huh. Usually kids would do anything for money.
"He used my nickname for you", mused Zoroark.
A sign that you're not very creative.
"Sweeten the deal, huh?" said Joshua. "Maybe you'll be interested in receiving half my food rations as long as these two remain a secret? I'll throw in dessert as a bonus."

"Well I was kinda of hoping you would give me that weird looking boo thing you have but ehhh?" Bowser Jr sighed.
"Half your food, okay but it better be meats, and none of that veggie crap, oh and candy lots and lots of candy for me, Aris, and Leo," Bowser Jr said. "Oh and I want the weird looking purple boo to play with the three of us," Bowser Jr said. "Oh and if I see even the tiniest bit of green, my daddy will find out," Bowser Jr grinned towards Joshua.
"So do we have a deal?" Bowser Jr asked Joshua very innocently and sweet.

Aris merely stared at them while she listened to the exchange. "Do you two understand why my father wants to keep us a secret?" She asks flatly. There was a cold, hard look in her eyes that was a little scary for one so young.

Grinn?
"Sure, why not?" said the Gengar. "I was probably gonna play with 'em at some point anyway."
Joshua was about to respond when Aris addressed them both with a question.
"Is it not because of a parent's desire to protect their kids from strangers that might want to harm them?" answered Joshua. "...Or so that you're not used as blackmail?
Though I don't even know your father's name or who he really is, so I can't answer based on his character."

Bowser Jr was too focused on waiting for Joshua's response to even notice what Aris was saying. " So Joshie do we have a deal?" Bowser Jr asked Joshua

"You guessed right," Aris responded. "Our father is nearly invincible in battle. But us... We're still kids. It's only common sense that his enemies would try to use us to weaken him. You've been kind to us, Mr Joshua, and you seem to be a good person, so I don't think he'll mind... But what about the others in the palace? Or even the other Outlanders? Our father will do anything to protect us... Anything."
She turned to address the odd creature. "Do you understand?"

Bowser Jr paid the girl no mind because he was waiting for Joshua's response. "Come on Joshie, I am growing bored," Bowser Jr huffed. "A simple yes or no, and then you and the person you claim is not your daughter, but your babysitting can go back to that boring conversation about dad's and blackmail," Bowser Jr told Joshua
"Besides my dad just lets me do what I please," Bowser Jr replied. "Well Joshua you meant dad, does he seem like the type person that has any set of rules or displine," Bowser Jr said to Joshua unsure what the little girl was so worried about.

...I can't let a kid be responsible for the death of their father on good conscious.
"Fine, you got a deal", said Joshua. "No promises on how much candy I can get my hands on, but I'll give you what I find."
...Though Rotom and Manaphy get first dibs.
The two child Pokemon performed a small silent cheer in the background.

He Who Shakes The WorldMason didn't stay overwhelmed for long. Despite being wounded, he somehow seemed even more powerful than before, and it caught Nobunaga off guard. The General roared and slammed his flail into the ground, causing a massive earthquake and summoning a giant wall of rock and stone up around him. Nobunaga stumbled just for the briefest of moments, and Mason's shield exploded into a thousand giant spears, which rained down upon him like a storm of meteors. At the same exact instant, Mason charged. His speed far surpassed what Nobunaga expected, and almost Instantaneously, he was right in Nobunaga's face, grinning like a maniac. Time seemed to slow down as the two stared at each other, and Mason let go of his flail. Time sped up once more and Mason slammed his metal fist into Nobunaga's gut with titanic force, sending him flying backwards like a ragdoll. He caught himself and rolled into a crouching position, and immediately launched a gigantic beam of darkness from his free hand. Mason swerved to avoid the blast and was immediately struck by a wave of energy from Nobunaga's sword, sending him crashing to the ground with such force the ground caved in below him, forming yet another crater as sparks of electricity flew high into the sky. Nobunaga vanished instantly and appeared in the sky above Mason, a massive black Sun already in his hand. He threw the massive ball of energy down at his fallen opponent, but Mason was already gone. "YOU THINK THE SAME TRICK WILL WORK TWICE, BOY?!!!!"Mason instantly appeared behind him and slammed his flail into Nobunaga's back, hurling him towards his own attack. He caught himself just before and vanished again, instantly materializing on the ground below and unleashing a quick beam of energy at his own Shadowflare, causing it to detonate midair. The blinding explosion seemed to light up the entire sky, and it caught Mason right in the heart of the blast, sending him spinning high into the sky. Dark black wings of pure energy abruptly sprouted from the Demon King's back, and he rocketed into the air after him. Mason's insane, maniacal cackle echoed through the sky, and a hundred pillars of rock suddenly materialized to meet him. Nobunaga's eyes widened slightly. He can still use that level of magic even when he's not in contact with the ground?!!The pillars of rock rained down from the sky in waves, and while Nobunaga effortlessly swerved between the first wave, Mason merely flicked his wrist and the pillars shot back up towards him, completely defying gravity and all sense. Nobunaga immediately caused the sky to darken, hindering Mason's vision, and just as he thought, the pillars suddenly lost their aim. Before Mason could recover, Nobunaga impaled him through the stomach with Masamune. Mason gasped and coughed up some sort of black liquid over Nobunaga's shoulder. Nobunaga let go of Masamune and brought his other sword, Muramasa, down upon Mason's right shoulder, burying the blade in his body. He then flew up behind Mason and unleashed the majority of his remaining Mana in a single massive attack. "Fall."The General was sent careening back down to OZ like a shooting star, carried by a tremendous beam of raging black and purple energy. The beam gradually dissipated and Mason stumbled out of the new crater, in bad shape, but very much alive and kicking. Sparks flew from where the swords were buried in him, and parts of his body had been entirely melted off. He was little more than a metal exoskeleton now, but even so, he laughed and laughed, and his laughter echoed across the battlefield. "NOT BAD!!!!! NOT BAD AT ALL!!!! YOU'VE WON THIS BATTLE, BOY!!! WE'LL RETREAT FOR NOW!!!! BUT DON'T THINK THIS IS OVER!!!! WE'LL MEET AGAIN SOON!!!! ALL FORCES, FALL BACK!!! WE'RE GOING HOME!!!"A symphony of blaring horns answered the General's orders, and his Chimera mount bounded up to him. Mason climbed onto his mount's back and quickly retrieved his flail, then called back, "AS A REWARD FOR KEEPING ME ENTERTAINED, I'LL TELL YOU SOMETHING YOU MIGHT LIKE TO KNOW!!!! THIS WAS JUST A DIVERSION, AND YOU FELL FOR IT HOOK, LINE, AND SINKER!!!!! WE ALREADY HAVE OUR OWN OUTLANDER READY TO OCCUPY YGGDRASSIL, AND HIS POWER MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE A CHILD PLAYING WITH STICKS!!!!! I HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR HOLLOW LITTLE VICTORY, CAUSE WE'VE ALREADY WON THE WAR!!!!!"-------- Archmage Veloth, having severely underestimated his opponent, was suddenly overpowered by Bowser's giant inferno, knocking him clear out of the sky. As the dust cleared, Veloth struggled to his feet, as a shield of golden energy hummed around him. He bellowed in rage, and his power abruptly skyrocketed once more. A fierce storm of lightning gathered around him, and his appearance began to change. He began to grow in size, until he was even taller than Bowser, and his skin transformed to a strange green metal. He conjured a massive lightning bolt and, wielding the bolt like a spear, he charged Bowser head on. They clashed only briefly, with no real victor, until the horns sounded. Veloth cursed and quickly returned to his normal form. "You're lucky fool. But don't think you've won. We'll settle this another day." The Archmage took off after his General at mach speed. -------- Nobunaga landed on the ground near the crater, slightly out of breath. His power faded, and the fog began to lift, revealing the battered Ephesian forces retreating en masse, back towards the north. He immediately sent out a telepathic order to the rest of the Outlanders. "Do NOT engage!!! I say again, do NOT engage!!! Fall back and rendezvous behind the southern bridge!!! Do not pursue the enemy forces!!!"With that done, Nobunaga turned and started walking back towards the broken bridge, while Mason's laughter still echoed on the wind.
