Joshua finished washing his hands after doing his business and dried them on a towel left to him. He then paused and took out his deck of cards from his pocket, looking over them once again. First, he glanced at Yancy's card the longest.
Yancy... Everyone... Should I really allow you all to be brought here? I don't know if you're already in this world only turned... dormant or something, or if activating these cards force you all here. If it's the latter, should I really trust the queen's word we shall return in the exact time frame as we were taken? They probably do mean well, but they only appear to have theories and calculations, not experience. What if they're wrong? What if I've been missing from Realgam Tower for a day already? And if that's the case... what is Yancy doing right now?
Joshua sighed in frustration.
And what about returning to my own world? Should I do it the first chance we get once that Cia person is revived? I'll be abandoning an entire world in need, but my world is important too. If I stay here to help, will I still be able to return in time at least to still assist in the war? And if the people in these cards aren't technically here yet, then I'll be depriving Mewtwo and whoever these three strangers here are from of soldiers, which is even worse. I want to stay and help, but--
The blaring of an alarm made Joshua jump and almost drop his cards. He quickly pocketed them again and opened the door outside, his Pokemon waiting for him. Joshua saw the soldiers in the palace, his escort included, begin to run elsewhere.
"What's going on?" asked Zoroark.
"I don't know", said Joshua, "but I have a hunch it's nothing good. I'll go figure it out. It's probably best for you all to go back into your Pokeballs, if mostly to stay out of the soldiers' way. This place is clearly going to get busy."
They all nodded as Joshua recalled them. He chose a direction at random (for he still did not know the layout of the caste) and hurried down there.

Anthea flipped a slate over and rubbed her hands over it a few times in a tenth of a second to produce another sketch. She was actually carving into the stone with her cyborg fingers to create the images, but the end result's the same as drawing anyways. It was an aerial view with a general diagram of the army's layout. She turned it to the asian-death-metal-rocker-seeking-solo-career looking guy.
"The big things here are those big things there. T for Tanks, M for monsters, etc. They're in formation. Very showy, like in movies. If you imagine the cliches then you've got the idea. Do they have movies here?"
She turned to Glinda, speaking in her usual slightly-too-fast-for-comfort manner, "Oh yeah, name's Anthea. I came out of a card held by a little girl currently being held captive under a big tree, which I need to talk to you about later. There's an Outlander mimic blending in with your troops right now, and another Outlander who blew a few holes in your castle in a lab with ah...Nelson I think. The latter of which could probably solve your gravity issues. Should I fetch them?"

"Wait, did you say you came out of a card?" said Glinda. She then stopped herself. "No. Let me redact that question. There will be time to speak later. There are more pressing matters to attend to.
As for the reinforcements, I'm afraid I cannot oversee anything you Outlanders plan to do at the present time while our forces are mobilizing. Nobunaga, since you appear to possess a plan, perhaps you are more suitable for giving an answer."

"If this Outlander can find a way to disable General Mason's gravity field, then yes. By all means, fetch him. If this General is as high up as he seems to be, than wounding him, or at least driving him back will make Ephesus think twice about attacking in force again, at least for a while."
Nobunaga turns to the other Outlanders in attendance, most of whom had barely spoken. He studies them, and his steely gaze briefly settles upon Selene, the young woman who had just given him her vote of confidence. "This mission is strictly voluntary. But understand something; we all want to get home, and if Yuelia is wiped off the map, that's going to become complicated. So, for now, we need to cooperate and at least pretend to get along."
He turns back to Anthea, the time-manipulating robot or whatever the heck she was, and uses his own powers to conjure a life-like illusion in the air, based off the Intel from her sketch and his memory of the landscape directly north of Yuelia. "Queen Glinda, if you see anything out of place here, inform me immediately. From what I've gathered, the Ephesian force is marching through here, a section of wide open plains between a large forest, and a stretch of large hills. While it didn't hit me at first, I've already been here. Or, at least in the general area. When I was summoned, I appeared in this same forest. So I have at least some knowledge of the terrain already. There are two bridges here, leading into Yuelia's main territory. The river is far too deep to cross, especially with such a large host, so that only leaves three options for them. They either ferry soldiers across using those behemoths of theirs, use magic to freeze the river or teleport soldiers over, or they split their forces into two Regiments and cross both bridges simultaneously. I'm hoping for the latter."
He turns to Queen Glinda again. "What else can you tell me about this General Mason? His personality, track record, anything. And I need to know what kind of magic the Ephesians favor."

Glinda began expositing. "General Mason is a proud and arrogant man, and would likely react poorly to what he perceives to be a taunt or insult directed at him. Being Ephesus's Elemental General of Earth -- that is, among their elites -- Mason specializes in such magic. As I've stated before, he wields a giant spiked ball and chain as his weapon of choice, and can create spires and earthquakes merely from swinging it.
Ephesian mages typically prefer both fire and lightning magic of offensive uses, and have shown the ability to employ energy barriers and healing magic."
Rushing through half the camp full of both standard Yuleian soldiers and the more intimidating legionaries, the communications officer finally reached the cave that the acting commander of the forces dug into the area was currently inside. Two legionaries armed with energy halberds clearly once used by an Ephesian in the past prevented him from entering.
"An interrogation is currently underway. You may not interrupt it."
"But I have--"
The communications officer was startled at the sound of something slamming against something metal within the cave. He peered as far inside as the legionaries would allow to see. Not far from the entrance was a cage of sorts, with someone by the side closest to the officer writhing in pain. He could see two other bodies lying on the floor... and at least one of them headless, with a great amount of blood on the ground. The only person in the cage left standing was a man far larger than anyone else, who walked over to the kneeling person, grabbed him from behind, and then threw him into another corner, this time with his back hitting the cage so that he is facing his interrogator.
"I care not for your flawed ideals!" said the interrogator. It was then that the officer noticed that he carried a bowie knife in his hand. "I ask what this weapon you all possess is and where we may find it, so we may torch it!"
The victim coughed. "W-What's your problem, man? We just want to--"
"Save your breath, worm! You and your butchered friends over there are far from the only ones we have questioned. I know what you all desire. You wish for the power of Yggdrasil to be granted to all, and not towards the 'one percent' you so clearly despise. Do you wish to know what happens when power such as that is left unchecked; for weaklings like you to possess what you have not earned? Look outside. Look and see the chaos the accursed wordsmiths of old have brought onto the world for later generations to suffer for. See the result of those who believed such power to be their own. See the work of those who work without a higher power to put the sheep in their place. Even now, you would repeat history merely because you were starved as a child; because you detested your inferiority despite never bringing yourself to build strength; because you expect your illusion of justice and mercy to bring you to the status of an elite naturally without you lifting a finger to earn your worth. You are nothing but a piss-stain on the land of Oz. Even the loathsome Ephesians are more honorable."
The interrogator brought his knife up to the battered victim's throat. "I will ask this again, and your answer will determine whether your promised return to the land is too good for filth like you. What is this weapon your lot possesses?"
A period of silence, followed by a wail of pain and the sickening sounds that typically accompany the act of disembowelment. The cage door opened as the interrogator, covered in blood, approached the two legionaries perched by the cave entrance.
"Burn them. Let us not poison the land with a burial."
The legionary saluted. As the two soldiers left to do their task, the communications officer took a deep breath and gathered the courage to approach the interrogator.
"A-Alexus, sir. A message has arrived from Lady Viola of Los Angelos."
"Viola?" said Alexus. "Very well. Speak."

"So enemy soldiers are attacking," Baron mused to himself much to the dismay of Sam. "Oh no I know that look," Sam said in horror. "Whatever do you mean?" Baron replied very sarcastically. "You want to volunteer to go on this suicide mission," Sam bemoaned. "Hey I was about to show these fine folks my abilities before I was so rudely interrupted by these soldiers," Baron told Sam. "Baron honey can I come with you?" Catie asked.
"Catie I would love to have you by my side out there but it could be dangerous and um Catie," Baron said to Catie very hesitantly. "You want to leave me hear by myself, in a strange world, surrounded by stranger people and that Bowser person," Catie said kinda upset. "Catie it's just that I worry about," Baron was cut off by a swift uppercut to the jaw by Catie. "You stupid jerk, we finally find each other and the first thing you want to do is run off without me," Catie told Baron in a mix of anger and sorrow. "You win you can come but stay close to me and if things start looking dangerous you are to return here okay," Baron managed to choke out. "Okay I will do my best to help, and I promise to keep myself safe, Barry and Silvia need at least one responsible parent" Catie said skipping away. "Sigh you two are so met for one another," Sam snickered towards Baron. "Your coming of course to keep an eye on her," Baron sneered towards Sam. "Sigh me and my big....," Sam and every bodies attention was caught off guard by the sound of something loud and very obnoxious.

"Gwa ha ha, so you need some volunteers," Bowser announced very triumphantly. "Please who needs help from any of these inferior beings when you have the great Bowser on your side," Bowser roared out triumphantly. "Um sire," Kamek said trying in vain to get Bowser's attention. "Please if anybody knows how to invade a kingdom, it's this guy over here," Bowser said pointing to himself. "Your cluelessness you are aware that these troops are way above the helpless toads you trample over, Kammy said. "Please what can some of these 'troops' and 'magic' do to one such as me," Bowser said very sure of himself.
"Please you have a hard time dealing with an overweight plumber who can turn into a frog and a cat of all things, no offense Mario," Kammy told Bowser in a scolding tone. "Please you see Mario over there he's not human he's Mario," Bowser told Kammy. "Sigh it's like trying to reason with air," Kammy floated away from Bowser. "Oh Bowser will listen," Alyssa told them. "Why scary Peach what are you going to do?" Bowser huffed towards scary Peach. "I just caught word that the vile beast is going to be there and it would be a shame if it had a taste for Koopa flesh," Alyssa whispered towards Bowser. "Fine I shall do this thing you guys say behave but I just hope you are ready for the fireworks when we see those losers," Bowser grumbled towards Kammy and Alyssa.
"Um dad can I come with you to?" Bowser Jr asked innocently. "Son it's bad enough that I have these losers that are going to slow me down, I don't need you slowing me down too," Bowser told his son. "Is it because you care for me, that you don't want me to get hurt?" Bowser Jr asked. "Yeah whatever floats your airship," Bowser said very dismissively. "You can stay with me if you want," Alyssa told Bowser Jr. "Thanks, but aren't you going?" Bowser Jr asked. "Turns out that demonstration, especially going into my Banki state took a whole lot of energy," Alyssa stated.
"Mario would like to go but well you see there is a price to pay for using Ultima," Starlow said. "By using Ultima it takes a heavy tool on his body and hes unable to do anything at least for the next hour or so," Starlow commented. "Sucks to be you guys," Bowser snickered towards Mario and Alyssa. "Hey older white hair peach where are the sorry excuse for an army at, they are about to get a beat down like they never experience," Bowser roared. "Guess we should go somebody has to babysit him," Kamek moaned. "I am just going because I can't wait to see him fall on his face," Kammy said.

"Then that means we can probably rule out Teleportation," Nobunaga says thoughtfully, inclining his head in satisfaction. "And if General Mason is as arrogant as you say, then he likely won't have a grand strategy planned out. Not when he believes he's already won. He'll most likely split his forces down the middle, and send half to either side. We'll use this to our advantage, and take out both bridges, forcing them to cross the river."
He starts to believe this might actually work, at least until the big turtle monster opens his fat mouth, and the only person with water magic says she's too weak to go. Nobunaga's eyes narrow dangerously, and when he speaks, his voice is terrifyingly calm.
"Listen... Bowser, is it? This is a stealth mission. Do you understand what that means? If you charge headlong into a group of 5,000 highly trained soldiers armed with magic, killing machines, and giants several times larger than you, what do you think will happen? Even if you were immortal, you would jeopardize the entire mission. I need to know if you can follow orders."
He turns to the young woman called Alyssa. "You said you are too weak to fight, yes? Is there a way to recover your energy? Your water and ice magic would make this mission ten times easier. And if there isn't a way to recover your energy, do you still have enough mana left to, say, create a tsunami or freeze a portion of the river? With my powers, I can teleport you to safety before the real fighting begins."
------ Meanwhile, back in Yuelia's palace...
"Leo, what do you think you're doing?!"
Leo instinctively jumps at the sound of his sister's voice. He halts mid creep, straightens up and turns to her, rubbing the back of his neck and laughing nervously. "N-Nothing. I was uh... Just going to the bathroom!"
Aris sets her book down and sighs, reluctantly climbing out of the bed. "Oh, sure. So that's why you're sneaking around like a gorilla with your pack slung over your shoulder. Well, I have news for you. That's the wrong door, doofus."
Very slowly and very dramatically, to make sure her brother understands, she points to the bathroom door, which just so happens to be on the opposite side of the room.
Leo obnoxiously mimics the gesture, then introduces his right palm to his forehead. "I swear, you are so NOT my sister. Where's your sense of adventure? We're in a totally new world here. Don't you want to find out what the racket's all about? Or where dad went? What if he's in trouble? What if he doesn't come back-"
"Don't even think that!" Aris snaps, losing her temper. Leo flinches, and both siblings turn contrite. Leo looks away, but doesn't respond and she sighs.
If I do nothing, he'll just sneak off later when I'm asleep and get into trouble... But if I go with him now, at least I can keep him safe... And I am worried about dad...
"Fine," Aris concedes reluctantly.
Leo's entire face lights up like a star, but before he can say anything, she quickly continues. "But! We go invisible, and if I tell you to do something, you listen. Remember, dad put me in charge."
His face deflates like a balloon hit by a spear, but at least he agrees. "You're no fun..."
"As dad would say, I never claimed I was," she shoots back, grinning.
The siblings share a silent moment together, grinning at each other, before melting into the shadows. The door to the palace hallway opens by itself.

A few minutes of wandering around later with anyone he came across being too busy to give directions or explain what's going on, Joshua finally conceded defeat.
"...I'm lost."
Looking around his current hallway and seeing it mostly empty, he sighed and brought out his Pokemon.
"I see no one wishes to give you the time of day, sir", said Ditto.
"They seem worried about something, so at least I can hopefully rule out the 'racist against Outlanders' card", said Joshua.
"Claim you're an all-powerful deity", said Zoroark. "They don't know crap about us and they're probably desperate to be looking for outside help to begin with. They'll believe you, tell you everything you'll ever wanna know, and shower you in gifts and candies."
"Tempting, but then they might throw me in the front lines where I don't really belong. Besides, I've already presented to the queen and the other outlanders. Once those guys in the dome come back, the gig will be up. Heck, the queen is probably already in the palace; we just haven't found her anywhere."
"So what do we do?" asked Manaphy. "Go back to our jail cell (it's the closest thing to a room we have), wait until things calm down, and then see if people have time to talk then?"
"Well if we don't know what the problem is, we can't exactly help them with it", said Joshua. "Plus, we don't know the exact place where the Dome from before is, so Ditto can't channel Gallade and teleport us back there.
...Still, I'm stubborn and want to at least try to be able to see what's happening. Rotom, I was thinking that maybe you can possess radio communications and eavesdrop on--"
Grinn interrupted. "Sshh! Hold on a sec!"
Joshua held his tongue. He saw Grinn and Rotom look down the hallway... Was that door over there always open?
"I see it too", said Rotom.
Explain.
"Something's doing what Grinn does!" answered Rotom. "They're traveling through the shadows!"
"Two of 'em, by my count", said Grinn. "Came out of that room over there, methinks."
"More ghosts like the one that almost jacked the cards?" asked Zoroark. "I'll be ready to Night Slash them the first twitch I see."
We should follow them. I have a gut feeling they're not the emergency that's got the palace in arms, but they're up to something if they're invisible. Zoroark, cloak everyone but me. Stay nearby as I follow. Grinn, Rotom, feed me info as to where they're headed.
"They turned a corner that-a-way", instructed Grinn.
Understood.
The Pokemon seemingly vanished as Joshua sped-walked behind the two shadows to keep pace, slowing down once he got closer. He tried his best to appear like a lost inhabitant of the palace (which he was), feigning obliviousness to the presence of the shadows.
"Stealth, eh?" commented Irving. Not enough time had passed between his injuring himself and now for him to have phased out of his crazed state of mind. "Not my style, frankly." He turned to the vaguely familiar-sounding masked guy that seemingly appointed himself as leader. "Boss, if you knew anything about me in this bad mood of mine, you'd know that I hate leaving my trap shut during it. Whatya say? Want me to tag along anyway, or play benchwarmer? Hell, maybe send me out to rip the arms off an Ogre or smash a ballista or something as a distraction?"

In the barracks, there was this one generic guy that seemed to be checking out all the cool stuff they had in the stores, rather than suiting up. Nobody seemed to notice though, since he looked very busy in his examination and held himself like someone ranked much higher than you. Occasionally you'd blink and see a second magitech halberd/sword/bow appear in his left arm to complement the identical one in his right, but then you'd blink again and it'd vanish, only to find another weapon or two in his hands. He'd made his way through the entire barracks this way, taking note of every ounce of armament and ammunition.
At some point somebody stopped him. The conversation went something like this:
"You there! What are you up to?"
Moran paused, then turned and belted out, "What are you up to, SIR!"
"Excuse me?"
"Excuse YOU! Salute when addressed Captain!"
Moran's voice rung in the exact tone every soldier was conditioned to obey. The Captain saluted. Moran mimicked perfectly.
"I am optimizing inventory on orders of the General Malcom on behalf of the Engineers! The durability on these items are non-uniform, and I have saved your ignorant carelessness twenty seven incidents of weapon malfunction! See to your duties as I see to mine. Dismissed!"
He turned and disappeared. Somebody reported the incident but they couldn't pick the guy out of a crowd. Anthea disappeared from the courtyard. She appeared briefly in a keying office.
Inside Nelson's lab, Celeste was wearing sunglasses. He had just finished extracting his glowing coat from Nelson's containment field, shaking lemons off of it. Jirachi floated beside him, eyes closed, and focusing intently.
"It's Gravity functions are coded iso-psychically to Jirachi", Celeste explained to Nelson, "I would have thought that your magics could replicate it, but it doesn't surprise me that Jirachi's own brand of magic is more potent."
The glow decreased until the only shine was due to the coat's glistening white metal skin. Jirachi opened his eyes and grinned as Nelson quickly deactivated the anti-magic field containing it, banishing the circus act and recalling the substance into its solid fire vial. Celeste pulled it over himself in a stretch, feeling like his body was complete once again.
Meanwhile, Anthea put a key in a lock.
Celeste looked at Jirachi, and that was all the Wish pokemon needed to lift him into the air. Celeste gave it a test flight, satisfied with its performance. His new Mind Palace found itself a place in an inside pocket, plugging in and uploading to his glasses. After a quick scan, he indicated a few of Nelson's potions, which flew into the air and portioned themselves out.
"...NO WAIT!" Nelson called out, too late to stop Celeste from tossing them together. They immediately made light swirl as gravity intensified to proportions beyond human imagining, threatening to tear a black hole in Nelson's roof. But before anything really interesting could happen, Celeste jumped at it, his coat glowing as it drank the Gravitational energy, charging his power supplies to full. He smiled.
"Satisfactory. Now then, let's get starte-."
Something tagged Celeste and Jirachi with a teleport signature. Celeste's coat alerted him to this, but not before they were already whisked away to where everyone else was.
"-d because if you want something to happen I can make it happen. Where did Nelson go and who the hell are you people?"
Anthea's hologram flashed to the soldier, Celeste saw her wave, and then she switched back again.

"Psst!" Leo whispers.
"I know!" Aris snaps back, slipping around a corner. "I sense them too. Two presences, perhaps more, in the shadows following us. And I sense some sort of illusion magic at work."
"Do you think that guy behind us is involved?"
"He's not exactly being subtle," Aris retorts back.
"Maybe he knows something. Should we do a shakedown?"
"No, but let's try and force his hand. We need to find out why he's following us."
The two shadows suddenly vanish altogether, and reappear in a dark corner of the ceiling, waiting.
--------- Meanwhile, back in the Iron Palace...
"I have received approval from the Emperor," General Galahad says calmly in that ever-monotone voice of his, strolling back into the hallway where Ethan was waiting like he owned the place. Which... He did, in the way. From what Ethan has been able to learn, Galahad is second only to the Emperor himself in military matters, and the third in command of the entire Empire. For all intensive purposes, Galahad's word carries even more weight than the Emperor's, since he directly oversees the military. A formidable man indeed, and not one to be taken lightly.
"The female Outlander is permitted to travel with you. General Petrine and I are to escort you to the plains outside the Empire's main borders. We are to leave immediately. Is your companion ready?"
Ethan knocks on the door to the bedroom. "Elia? Are you ready to leave?"

"They're in that ceiling over there, now!" said Rotom.
"They ain't movin'", added Grinn. "Probably waiting for us."
Zoroark, make me appear to walk past.
Joshua gradually slowed to a stop as an illusionary form of himself continued walking, past the shadows and around the corner, while the real thing turned invisible. Zoroark made sure to add in fake footsteps to the illusion's steps.
Joshua stood in silence, waiting for the shadows to do something.

(On break now so I can do a this one post there at least.)
"Really a shy guy asks if I can follow orders," Bowser said very defiantly. Before Bowser could continue to dig himself into a deeper hole an idea popped up into his head. "Normally when a minion questions me that's automatic chain chomp duty for a week," Bowser said eyeing the masked person whose name he could careless to remember. "Yet since I am a kind and benevolent king, I will humor your request and follow your orders minion," Bowser told the masked guy. "Don't worry I will follow your orders and do my best just so I can see you fail," Bowser said very triumphantly. "So sire let me see if I understand, you are going to behave and follow orders just to see this masked gentleman fail?" Kamek asked. "Oh he will fail because a minion leading a great leader like me, please I want to be there first hand to so rub it in his masked face when his hair brain minion plan goes up in smoke," Bowser said as he let out a hearty laugh. "Our head hurts," Kammy and Kamek said in unison. "Basically, today is your lucky day minion I will listen to you, and I will do this stealth thing you want me to do," Bowser snarled towards the masked person.
"Nobunaga is it," Alyssa said raising approaching him. "Yes I might be a little winded now, but that's if we were going to actually, engage the enemey," Alyssa said. "Yet I still have plenty of mana left for a stealth mission, especially if we are going to be around a large quantity of wayter," Alyssa stated. "In terms of more advanced techniques like create a massive wave I could do that but it would pretty much tap me out," Alyssa stated. "In terms how I recover my mama it recharges over time with rest and if I really needed there are potions to temporarily restore it but I don't have any on me," Alyssa said.
Charlie's ears perked up at the chance of maybe journeying with Alyssa. "Sorry boy but I need you to sit this one out," Alyssa told Charlie as he whimpered a little. "Hey don't give me that boy, this is a different world altogether," Alyssa said while comforting Charlie. "Until I am sure what they are capable of I think its best if you stay here," Alyssa told Charlie. "You seem to get along well with Lana, maybe you can stay with her until I return," Alyssa assured Charlie. "Hey Mario mind keeping an eye on him until I get back or you encounter Lana," Alyssa asked Mario who nodded his head yes.
"Looks like you have to stay with Mario," Alyssa told Bowser Jr. "Yeah stay here and keep Mario company, he will need since yours truly will not be here to keep him company, gwa ha ha," Bowser said while mocking Mario. "Come on already shy guy let's get this show on the road," Bowser told masked guy impatiently while Kammy and Kamek sighed.

"Greetings, sir!" said Glinda to the Outlander newcomer. "I am Glinda, queen of this realm. Although proper introductions are in order, I'm afraid we have little time for such things. A hostile army is on-route toward the capitol, and we require time for our armies to mobilize and intercept them. This man, Nobunaga, wishes to lead a group of Outlanders to stall their advance. Their leader, General Mason, employs an intense gravitational field around him that makes approaching him difficult. We have heard that you may be able to counteract this field. Will you lend us your aid?"

Celeste let the Mind Palace look up a Glinda, Nobunaga, and General Mason, words and images flashing on his glasses. The second one wasn't as productive as the others.
"...you're governed by a monarchy and march armies in formation, which is so ludicrous considering your technological level that I have to missing something. If it's gravity amplification you want to nullify, I can do better than reverse it, I can float him and his entire army into the upper atmosphere, given the time, materials, and free reign to create a teleportation vehicle once your crisis is averted. Do we have a deal?"

Nobunaga merely ignores the turtle... Whatever it is, and inclines his head respectfully to Alyssa. He then turns to the new Outlander. "I'll be blunt. I don't care what you can do with a limitless amount of time and resources. I want to know what you can do with no notice, little time, and even less resources. The Ephesian force will reach the point of no return in less than an hour. We need to be in place and waiting for them in a couple minutes. I don't have time to wait for you to negotiate a deal with the Queen. I need to know now, right now, if you can disable General Mason's Gravitational Field with only what you have on you. If you can do that, then I can teleport you close enough to the General to pull it off, and get you out before anyone is the wiser. I can also wound the General myself. However, without your help, I will be hard pressed to do so."
He turns to Queen Glinda, and motions to the sword at his waist. "This blade is similar to the cursed weapons you mentioned earlier. If I can wound General Mason, he will die shortly afterwards."
He then turns to the Merc, who apparently hasn't learned a thing about controlling his powers yet. So much for his advice. Then again, this could be Irving from the past, and it's possible he hasn't even met me yet. I need to play this carefully, or it could have disastrous consequences back home.
"There will indeed be fighting, and your strength will prove most valuable. But it means nothing if you kill one ogre, only to incite the wrath of the entire army. As I said to Bowser, even if you were immortal, that would still put everyone who isn't in extreme danger and ruin our chance in the process. If you can hold yourself back just for a little while longer, I would gladly have you along. If not, I need you to remain here. Even the strongest warrior is nothing more than an animal without his humanity."
Nobunaga hoped that would get through to him, at least somewhat. It was the same thing he had told him back home, many years prior.
Lastly, Nobunaga turns to Anthea. "You said your name was Anthea, correct? I would like your help. I need someone who's able to deliver communications back and forth between all the groups. While it's true I can do so myself, doing so will prevent me from being on the front lines, which is where I need to be. And with your unique... Abilities, you are best suited for the task."
-------
"Sis, he's not leaving."
"I can see that, Leo. Shush."
"And what's with the lame halfbaked illusion? Doesn't this guy know Dad trained us on stuff a million times better?"
"Of course not! Besides, you can't even count to a million! Now shush! Stay here and keep quiet. I'm going to go down and talk to him."
"But!"
"No buts! You promised you would do what I say, remember?"
The Leo shadow sighs. "Fine. But if things look bad, I'm coming down."
Aris smiles and playfully ruffles his nonexistent hair. Aww, he's so adorable when he's being protective...
One of the shadows suddenly plummets to the ground, and forms the shape of a young girl. "Why are you following us?" Aris demands.

Joshua instinctively brandished one of his knives as one of the shadows dropped down to confront him, taking the form of a young girl in doing so. Zoroark seemed eager to Night Slash, but Joshua held his arm out slightly to give him pause.
"Why are you following us?"
"Other shadow's still up there", said Grinn.
"...The better question is why wouldn't I follow you two?" replied Joshua. "I see two shadowy figures snooping and sneaking around the palace as suspiciously as possible while an alarm is blaring and every armed soldier around here is bracing themselves for something on the same day when another specter ambushed me within the palace and almost made off with my valuables. I'd be stupid to just leave whoever or whatever you two are alone.
I answered your question, so why don't you repay the favor? Why are you sneaking around the palace? What have you got to hide?"
"You get that from a fortune teller?" commented Irving. "Whatever. Don't worry, I can limit myself to only killing what you want me to kill. Can't guarantee that I might not cut loose after the fan gets hit and so many skulls start getting crushed, though!"
Irving chuckled briefly as if he just spoke part of some kind of inside joke only he understands.

"My brother and I don't have anything to hide," Aris says hotly, her temper rising. Something that was highly unusual for her. "We just wanted to know what the heck was going on, and figured no one would bother to tell a kid anything, so the only way would be to find out ourselves. And did you seriously just compare me to a specter?"
She glares daggers at the creatures around him, specifically the one that looked like it wanted to attack her. "And would you please tell that thing to stop threatening me? What kind of man stalks children, calls a girl a specter, and then has his monster minion threaten her? Do you even understand how much of a hypocrite you are?"

"...I'm literally just standing here!" protested Zoroark.
Well, at least we know for certain not to bother with the illusions.
"'Did you seriously just compare me to a specter?', says the incorporeal shadow right in front of me", retorted Joshua. "And don't give me any of those child stalker accusations either; I had no idea if you two were even people with shadow magic powers, much less whether you were kids or a pair of old ladies. Hell, I still have no idea; I don't know for certain if you're really a child or if that's just a form you're comfortable with!
Besides, you should be lucky I was the one who found you! I ghosted my way through a gate and got instantly hit with knock-out gas; they know how to detect and handle sneaky shadows. What if some soldier guy found you, assumed the worst, and started shooting you and your brother with holy magic or something?"

"I am too a kid!" Aris protests, her voice raising an octave. "And the Queen already knows about us! If a soldier found us and treated us with anything less than the utmost respect, I have a feeling he'd be cooling off in the dungeons for a while. Either that or my dad would eat him. Besides, we're immortals. Our shadow form isn't some weak third rate magic trick like what your monster pals can do."
"Wow, I never thought I'd hear you call yourself a kid," Leo quips, popping down from the ceiling and taking human form. "Wait til dad finds out. Wait, he'd never believe me. Dang."
"Shut up, Leo!"
He ignores her, and turns to the guy. "So, old guy, what the heck is your deal man? You the fun police or something? Out of all the crazy people here you could mess with, you just HAD to pick the only children of the extremely overprotective Destroyer of Galaxies and Devourer of Worlds? MAN, you are unlucky. How do you even live with that kind of bad mojo? I would think by your age, you would have been flattened by a flying piano or something. What are you, 60? That's pretty old for a human."
"Leo, you are SO not helping..."
He shrugs and turns to her, asking very nonchalantly, "So, what do? Do you want me to kill him?"
Aris's eyes widen to comical proportions. "No! Good heavens, no!"
He shrugs again, and calmly takes out a stick of chewing gum. He casually unwraps it, and pops it into his mouth.
