Location: Lilycove City
Twelve legendary feet were racing across rooftops, and when those ran out, the sides of buildings. Torrents of water gushed into windows and froze, catching a few unlucky snipers along the way. It's not like they would have been any use though, since the fog blanketing the city made people's hands vanish at arm's length. StarBurst pokemon rising to Defog the area were smote by Thunderbolts the instant they took wing, as did any other shumck who raised something metallic a bit too high into the air. The fog was cold, but thick and humid, overflowing with static electricity just waiting to burst at the slightest provocation.
Despite the Terrain, an armored unit was giving chase, paying no mind to the electricity racing down her frame. Four tendrils dug themselves into the architecture of the city, flinging their controller through the air in massive jumps propelled by eruptions of steam. Visibility was an issue, but the humidity was not. If anything Marissa was much more at home in a sauna.
What ever the fog was made of, it wasn't just water, since it blocked pretty much every kind of mechanical scanning she had available. She was forced to rely on her ESP, which was amplified by the suit, but still very unreliable in a city filled with so many people. For a while, ice statues of the beasts with embedded grenades were ambushing her from the fog, and exploding violently once they broke themselves on her. Since they weren't thinking, she couldn't see them coming ahead of time, but it wasn't anything that a thick blanket of super-heated steam couldn't fix. They started melting before they could reach her, and became a non-issue.
The more annoying issue was the fog blocking her transmitter's signal to blow up the hospital, and the ineptitude of those following her not having the judgement to blow it up themselves.
Location: Lilycove Hospital
Blue appeared before two more human guards and dispatched with two swings of Scyther blades. He still couldn't find the bombs...but he still had time.
Reacting before he could think, he Protected against an Electro-ball flung from a banded Electrode speeding in through the doorway. It immediately lit up with an intense energy, as Electrodes do before they use Explosion, but just as it reached white hot, it fizzled out. It saw Blue hovering before it with a Seadra head at his side.
"What's the matter? Too Damp in here for you?"
Spore, Skill Swap, String Shot. Blue disappeared again.
Location: Lilycove City
Eusine felt the wind. The cold fog against super-heated steam created a pressure gradient that all but pinpointed Marissa's location. Of course, a sense of the climate is something one loses when they're inside of a giant tin can.
"Molly, get ready to dismount when we get close. Entei's a big target but you're not."
Molly nodded, then remembered that Eusine couldn't see her, and voiced "Ready." grabbing onto Entie's fur tightly.
It began to rain furiously, which was a given considering all the abnormal atmospheric properties going on. They were effectively the cloud of a hurricane, Marissa in the center. Eusine snapped his fingers, and the beasts split. Three directions with staggered attacks, Entei and Molly from below, Raikou from above, Suicune and Eusine head on.
Eusine donned a regulator mask as he felt the air heating. Three rooftops away. He knew she would know he's coming by now. Two rooftops away. The water in Suicune's wake formed a torrent, that shot forward in an immense Hydro Pump, coupled with Raikou's static-boosted Zap Cannon from the skies to strike directly on target. The air exploded on contact with such force that it somewhat cleared the fog on the nearby rooftops, allowing Eusine to see that Marissa was, in fact, not there at all, and he had only managed to faint a heavily bound Volcanion.
His "oh ****" face wasn't even fully formed when he heard the sound of a building being wrecked. He looked at where Entei should have been approaching, but only saw the beast getting flung sky high through the roof, a feminine figure with tendrils flying up after it, and smaller feminine figure being flung off of it, falling helplessly towards the ground below.
"Raikou!" Eusine called instinctively. The beast of thunder swooped in to help its brother while Eusine buckled down and Suicune formed a Tailwind tunnel, boosting them towards where Molly was falling. Unfortunately, once she fell below fog level, she was completely undetectable.

Location: Lilycove Rooftops.
Eusine and Suicune skirted briefly through the fog, but finding no trace of Molly, Eusine redirected their wind tunnel to shoot back up to the battle. From what she's told him, she should be fine. And if she isn't he doesn't have time to think about it. The previous explosion had kept the fog at bay, but it was rolling in. Still, Marissa, Entei, and Raikou were visible, and the beasts were visibly losing. The tendrils on her suit were energized with StarBurst, and even if the energy didn't dominate legendaries, it still severely disoriented them. As a close-combat fighter Entei took the worst of it and by now could barely even stand. Raikou was close to falling right out of the air.
Eusine tugged on Suicune as a signal and the beast jumped out of the wind tunnel while Eusine threw some Sticky-Bombs up into it. The tunnel carried the static-laden fog from the streets up towards Marissa, and when the fog was set off by her metal suit, the discharge lit the bombs, immediately engulfing Marissa's suit in a massive lump of quick-cure adhesive gel that even a Groudon would have trouble moving through. It's apparently derived from Sticky Webs and slime with Sticky Hold qualities. The gel then spontaneously combusted with the heat of Napalm for good measure.
The fog was closing in, but Eusine had a moment where he was free to use his guns. He quickly capture-shot Entei, Raikou and Volcanion, and knowing that Marissa had StarBurst to break Pokeballs, had them sent to the Grid immediately. He looked at the lump of flaming gel, expecting some sort of trick. Distraction over?
Location: Lilycove Hospital
Blue had swept the entire building, and was fairly certain that the package he was just doused beyond repair was the last bomb. Mission accomplished. Time to...um...
...Alakazam, why am I not teleporting?
We're being Blocked. Source unknown.
Blue rolled his eyes. It's about time they wised up. Anyways, it's not like he couldn't just take out a wall. Machamp arms sprung out and-
At that moment a couple of missiles from Nova jet planes brought the building to the ground.
Eusine couldn't see, but he heard the sound of a massive explosion from where the hospital was. His heart sank. The word "failure" flashed through his and Suicune's minds, distracting them just long enough for Marissa to emergency teleport three feet out of her suit and fire a gun at Eusine. Suicune reacted first and reared up with an ice shield to take the hit, but this was apparently expected, as the pulse she fired passed through the shield and hit Suicune head on, snagging the beast as Eusine had done to the others just a few moment earlier.
"NO!" Eusine yelled as his ride vanished beneath him. He instinctively flipped two pistols forth and fired in Marissa's direction as he fell, but she had taken cover behind the gel before he could get a bead on her.
"You're not the only one with toys!" he heard Marissa call out, "How about a trade? Volcanion for Suicune!" This was followed by gunshots, but Eusine had rolled off the roof, removing himself from any lines of fire.
Speaking of lines of fire, the shock wave of that last explosion just now caught up with them. It billowed the electric fog over the roof, and both Marissa and Eusine yelped as the guns they were holding sparked and leapt out of their hands. Eusine thought about jumping up to engage her for a moment, but then figured his job here was done. He tossed a speaker away from where he dropped down to a fire escape.
"I'll take it if you throw in a date!" Eusine said through the speaker. In response, he heard the crack of a whip, and the sound of his speaker breaking.
"I don't know why I can't read your mind," Marissa called out from somewhere above him, "but I can still find you! Go on, run! It's more fun that way!"

Location: Agate Village
"Is that a girl coming out of the cave?"
Two elderly woman saw a girl, a Shuckle, and a Dedenne scamper out of the Agate excavation site looking very dirty.
"I think so. Think she's alright?"
The one on the left got up and started walking over.
"Miss! You there! Yes, you. Are you ok deary?"
Location: Lilycove Hospital Ruins.
"BLUE!"
Molly's voice called out over the rubble that used to be the hospital. Um...yeah, that's a no go. Plan B then. She put her hands together and closed her eyes, and soon symbols began glowing all over her body. In her mind's eye she probed through the rock, finding unconscious pokemon a plenty in the wreckage, although incidentally an Aggron directly beneath the rock she was standing on wasn't unconscious yet, and didn't really like her poking around in its rocky skin.
A roar sounded from below her feet as the StarBurst pokemon broke through, sending Molly flying into the air. She landed on the ground a fair distance away, but didn't seem any worse for wear. The Aggron charged her, but by now her eyes were open, shining a pure red. She jumped high, with a graceful flip over the Aggron, delivering a pulse of Hidden Power from her cupped palms to the back of its head. It crumpled as she landed.
The glow left her and she had to catch herself from going limp. She steadied herself for a second as the world spun, as it normally did after she exited her Trance state. In a few seconds she was better, but she looked around still as lost as ever...
Location: Lilycove City Alleyway
Eusine ran. He didn't really know what the plan was anymore. She had Suicune. He couldn't leave Suicune with her! He needs a way to fight back. PC. Pokemon Centre. Withdraw something. She's out of her suit now, he only needs-
Suddenly his feet were frozen together, causing him to trip and fall, and he would have hit the ground if a gushing blast of water didn't sweep him up and slam him into a wall upside down, freezing his body in place in an ice coccoon.
He heard a woman chuckling as she became visible through the fog. But it wasn't just her walking towards him, Suicune was there too.
"Suicune!?" Eusince called, wondering how she had the beast under her control in such short a time. It didn't have any collars on it, and it didn't have the glazed eyes of StarBurst. It's eyes looked more...cruel. Darker. Like Shadows.
Marissa gripped her hands behind her and stretched, giving her neck and knuckles a good cracking. She stroked Suicune's head.
"That's a good boy. Now, let your mistress have some fun with the prey."
She walked forwards, heels clicking, whip in hand. Eusine shouted at her, temper getting the better of him.
"What did you do to Suicune?!"
"A little something I stole from Admin Duncan's department. Harry didn't trust it, but the Shadow Virus has its uses. But your pet's the least of your worries now," She snapped the leather whip and it wrapped itself around his exposed neck. It was pulled tight with one hand, but she raised her other to her temple.
"Let's see what makes you tick."
Eusine saw a flash, but then his vision swum with memories he had tried to keep suppressed for years.
Location: Lilycove Hospital Ruins
Think Molly think. Blue acted on instinct. How would he have protected himself...aha!
Her skin started to glow again, but this time her eyes shone the light blue indicative of Ice type. She quickly found her target, and dug freezing the rubble and shattering it. She found a Cloyster shell sealed firmly shut, and gave it a gentle caress to coerce it open.
The shell parted, and Molly dropped the Trance in relief. She also failed to catch herself as she stumbled down into the open shell, giving the previously unconscious Blue a wake up call.
"MRPH!"
"Sorry!" She said, hastily getting up. Blue sprung to his feet, withdrawing the shell and running a hand through his hair.
"Not bad...could be worse."
Molly grabbed his hand, "Forget your hair. We have to save Eusine."
Screams. Blood everywhere. The sound of my body hitting a wall as my own Electrode exploded trying to kill us. Pretty sure an arm and a leg is broken. Can't move. Can't do anything to watch as Meganium strangles a lab assistant to death. Where...where is she? Did she escape? Is she...no NO!
Another explosion, more bones breaking. I'm...falling. I'm outside, I'm in the air. Flames erupt from the lab. And I see it. Our entire collection of pokemon. Empty, mindless tools of murder...
Another flash, and Eusine was back to reality. He couldn't see clearly...water in his eyes. He blinked them out and realized he was sat on the ground right-side up. Fog was gone. Whip still tight around his neck, probably injecting something into his body. Gun in his hand pointed between his legs. He couldn't move.
"Nuh-uh. I'm in control now. It's neat how your mind can get so caught up in memories it can get bound by them."
Eusine couldn't move his mouth, but he thought:
"You missed the best part, you fu-"
*FLASH*
Body snatched before hitting the ground. Yellow...Red...Blue...oh Arceus it's them. Why are they here? They...they're saving me? But what about everyone else! What about her! NO! GO BACK! GO BACK! SAVE HER!!
*FLASH*
"Oh what a pity. Maybe you'd like to see this again."
*FLASH*
There she is. The last time I saw her. Blood on her face. A horrible slash down her side. ring on her finger...and a defiant look in her eyes to the very end...Electrode...right there in front of her, ready to explode...
*FLASH*
"Ahaha, oh you sentimental fool!" Marissa was jeering inside Eusine's head, "See that ring? Lot of good it did you. You naughty playboy. How dare you just try and forget. I'm doing the world a favor here, preserving what's left of this married man's fidelity!"
Eusine blinked the tears away again. He was allowed control of his eyes to watch as his hand tightened around the trigger. Internally he screamed.
"Beg."
Eusine gasped, and Marissa twitched as something in his mind snapped free of her grasp.
"NOT ON KRIS'S LIFE!"
The sound of a gunshot and Eusine's subsequent howls of pain were drowned out by Suicune's sudden guttural roar. The sound of a name must have set the beast off, causing it to enter Reverse Mode. It riled itself up into a frenzy as wind, water, and ice started spraying everywhere. Marissa screamed instinctively as ice shards threatened to cut her, and she was forced to release Eusine's mind to defend herself telekinetically.
"Suicune! Heel! Obey! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU!"
As she fumbled for Suicune's pokeball, Blue and Molly appeared quickly to grab Eusine and teleport far away.
Location: Agate Village
"Yeah...I'm okay. I just came from Hoenn....do you have anything for us to eat?"
"Hoenn? Um...oh yes, yes of course. Come on in deary. There's no fighting here, you'll be safe."

"I'm sorry Saturn."
What?
Saturn found himself in a familiar state of lucid dreaming. He was in his corporate throne. The familiarity of his Sunyshore office brought him more relief than he had thought it would have. Across from him sat Jupiter in an equally extravagant chair. Between them on the table was a chess set. Jupiter moved her knight.
"Hello? I said I'm sorry."
Saturn blinked. "Ah...what is this?", He looked at the board and played along. He defended his king with his rook.
"A shared dream", Jupiter replied, taking rook with bishop, "I put you under before Harry came but seeing as we're both here...I'm probably dead. This is just a psychic echo."
"...dead?"
"Yes. Harry wasn't going to let any of us escape. If we tried to teleport away it would get Pursuit traced unless his suit was disabled first. And that's only possible if it's within arms' reach. Your move."
Saturn somehow had difficulty processing the fact he was speaking to a ghost...a ghost of one of the only people he could at some point call a friend. He took the bishop with his King.
"I...you...you didn't have to die."
"Yes I did. It was the best possible play," Jupiter moved her rook aside, setting a gambit for Saturn's queen but exposing her own, "Galactic has been decimated. Our communications are gone. The Satellites who haven't died have been scattered. You've been too busy with Yveltal and keeping yourself alive to keep track of it all, and you didn't need this. But now Victory is assured."
Saturn didn't take Jupiter's queen. It was a trap. Instead he removed his own from the line of fire. Jupiter continued.
"With the suits disabled for at least a month, Galactic and the Ultimate Weapon has over 50% of the world's destructive potential. In short, even if things reach Mutually Assured Destruction, Galactic will win in the end." She brought her queen right up to Saturn's King, giving him no choice but to take it. So he did. And Jupiter advanced a pawn one space landing Saturn in checkmate. Saturn groaned at the demonstration.
"Jupiter....thank you. And I promise you, when we make history your name will be there beside ours. We'll all be immortal together. The world will not forget you...Mars and I will never forget you!"
Jupiter gave a slight smile.
"Thank you too. You're going to wake up soon."
"...yeah..."
"...take care of Skuntank."
Saturn gasped as he woke up. Rocky ground. It was dark. A cave. Beside him were three pokeballs, and an empty Galactic uniform.
....It's Mars's uniform. Where is she?
Location: ??????
A few moments ago, the fizzle of a corrupted teleport spat out a naked red haired girl, her states of dress was unfortunate since she landed in a snowdrift. A few moments later, she stirred.
Ugh....what is...where am I?
The girl got up, looking around, bleary eyed with a splitting headache. Hair unkempt and singed in places. She was cold. She shivered.
How did I get here...
...who am I?
She saw a house and lights, and she made her way towards it.

Location: Lilycove Galactic Nova Base
Marissa was arguing with some agents from another department.
"You are leaving me Suicune. That is final!"
"Sorry Ma'am. Contract clearly states that Shadow Pokemon are property of Admin Duncan and his branch department. Only the order of another Admin can stand up to that."
"I need it as bait. I can turn one legendary capture into four, just let me retain it!"
A knife from somewhere in Marissa's clothes shot itself forward to hover in the agent's face.
"You'll have to take it up with upper management!" The agent said, arms raised, "Don't shoot the messenger, alright?"
Marissa sighed, knowing she had no case. "...Shooting is too quick," the knife was retracted slightly. "Go on then. Get out of my face!"
The Agent teleported away with a Masterball. MArissa looked around. Grunts were reclaiming what was left of the base. Civilians were being extracted from danger and accounted for...how utterly boring. She pulled up a chair amidst the renovations and reclined.
A Vivillon fluttered up to her. "Mistress, they are suggesting we deactivate the mobile control station. Pokemon units make Admin Celena trigger happy."
"Yeah yeah, go ahead."
The Vivillon landed on her shoulder, "As you know, I've been conditioned to be concerned when you take that tone."
Marissa closed here eyes, "Why am I still here?"
"I'd assume your survival skills have been bolstered by your violent psychopathy."
"Nah, I mean with Celena's unit. I'd do better off under Duncan. Especially now that Harry's apparently some sort of prodigy. He's probably going to get his own division now. Maybe even make Admin."
"He was always a prodigy to everyone but you."
"He's an socially inept narcissist who's much too busy playing with toys to have any ambition."
"...Is someone worried that senpai has stopped noticing her?"
The Vivillon was psychically deactivated in a way to cause immense pain for the man controlling it on the other end.
"EW EW EW EW!"
Location: Where the Sky Pillar used to be.
A girl in what looked like a prototype exoskeleton flew out of a portal.
"Oh Arceus," she muttered, "I feel so naked."
The exoskeleton formed a force field and she dove.
There's not a single hadron torpedo or missile on this thing. Disgraceful.
Goggles flipped down over her eyes, scanning through the darkness once the light filtering down from the ocean's surface ran out.
Come on...where are you...you can't be dead, I made you tougher than that.
There was a sunken airship in her way. Lasers sliced through it as she dug her hands in and cleaved it apart to get through.
Needs more boom. Remember to upgrade to combustion lasers.
Apparently going around is too troublesome. A smirk passed over her face. Evidently she found the glowing pink diamond she was looking for. Inside was an unconscious Harry, unmasked face a wreck, clothes burnt and tattered, but with his Mega Gauntlet and Nova Drive firmly in place. She grabbed the rock and dropped through a portal with it, landing on the deck of a ship with a splash. They were right outside the ruins of Ever Grande, where several engineers were scoping out the best way to build a base here.
A few soldiers saluted and she waved them off.
"Wake him up and get him to confirm the designs. I've got field testing to do."
"Yes Ma'am! Uh...how do we wake him up?"
"I dunno. Crack it open?"
She gave the diamond a kick. She did not expect the immediate result of Harry's diamond encrusted hand smashing through, grabbing Celena's leg and tossing her off the side as the rest of the rock separated into shards. A Diamond Storm whipped up as a mineral mask started to materialize around Harry's face, covering his glowing eyes and mouth that was evidently trying to roar but was too malformed to do so.
Admin Celena pivoted in the air, a manic grin on her face as everyone else ran for cover.
"Ooh! Field Testing!"

The last second before Hugh stepped into the teleporter, Xerosic suddenly yelled at him.
"WAIT!"
Hugh tried to wait. He really did. Unfortunately, the sudden loud outburst caused him to jump and lose just enough of his balance to land a foot into the teleporter anyway, transporting him into the middle of the desert. Hugh immediately put on the helmet he carried in his hand to shield his eyes from the sand carried by the winds. He disliked the bulk of the helmet, but he still appreciated its presence nonetheless.
Hopefully Xerosic pulls through with integrating the helmet into the armor and making it retractable... Wonder what he had to say before--
Hugh heard a cell phone ring. Knowing he had neither a Yveltal communicator nor a Xtransceiver on his person, he ended up searching blindly for the source of the ringing in a manner that would make him look like a crazy person had anyone been around in the middle of the desert to see him. After a few seconds, he realized the ringing came from his helmet. He removed it again and fiddled around with it to search for anything that differed from its appearance when it and the armor were first presented to him. Finally, he found a pair of small green and red buttons toward the back of the helmet. Taking a guess, he pressed the green one and put his helmet back on.
"Hello?"
"Hello? Hello? Ahh! Good! You figured it out!" cackled Xerosic's voice on the other line. "While you got acquainted with your new home and I gathered information on this shipment, I made a last-minute adjustment to the helmet and added a method of communication with you! Unfortunately, I only had time for one-way communications, so hold any comments you absolutely have to speak until you rendezvous with Essentia as instructed; for her helmet does have two-way communications."
So I can't talk to him if the two of us get separated, or if she goes down for whatever reason. Gotcha.
"Anyhow, that is all I wish to get out of the way. Carry on the mission as normal, and I shall contact you should anything arise. Good fortune and all that!"
Hugh sighed and searched the back of his helmet for the "Hang up" button as he began walking.
---
It didn't feel like a long walk until Hugh eventually saw a green beacon of light where he was headed. He jogged through the sands until he reached the source of the beacon, which Hugh identified as a waypoint used by construction crews at night or during harsh sandstorms. Essentia turned to face him as he approached, her arms crossed.
"You're late", she said.
"Blame Xerosic", replied Hugh dryly. "What's the plan?"
"Takeoff is in a few minutes", she said. "I've already mapped out a way inside. We stowaway until takeoff, and then we attack. No armed reinforcements will be able to appear while the ship is in the air."
"Good enough for me", said Hugh. "Just as a word of warning though, my sneaking skills while wearing heavy armor is a little rusty."
"You'll manage", said Essentia coldly. She nodded her head behind her and they moved Northward.

Anton clutched his face as he appeared in the desert, disoriented from the recent events. Katherine was just as confused, though mostly for plot reasons. However, befuddlement was the least of her problems, as she had sustained several injuries during the journey and was losing way too much blood for her to be any definition of "healthy".

Father's media capacity must be momentarily restricted. Possibly due to the unlawful time lag afflicting the universe. I presume our natures have been limited in expression as a result.

Upon reaching Nimbasa, specifically the airship port for authorized personnel only, it wouldn't have taken a genius for anyone to know their part in Essentia's plan were they in Hugh's shoes. She pressed a detonator while they hid away. Shortly afterward, smoke rose from the distance, followed by an explosion from some truck that wasn't currently in use. Immediately, the workers there began scrambling and scurrying in and out of the docked airship.
I see. They'll be in too much of a hurry getting the airship out of the way of a potential rebel attack that they are even more likely to miss the two stowaways that got inside.
Essentia tossed the detonator behind her back. "Let's hurry."
---
Essentia led Hugh toward a mostly unsupervised corner of the airship, where she pulled off tarp stuck onto the side of the ship with staples, revealing a hole carved out to be large enough for the two of them. Essentia pulled the tarp inside and spread it over the hole. Hugh looked around and saw that they were in a cargo area. Only non-Pokemon materials here, though. That would've been a little too easy.
"Now we wait", muttered Hugh. Essentia nodded as they took sitting positions.

Hugh knew better than to try to engage in smalltalk with his ally. Instead, he kept his conversations focused on the mission.
"Where are the eggs held?" he asked.
"At opposite points on the second floor of the vessel", explained Essentia. "Once we strike, we will have to separate and go to each side at once. The goal is to finish this quickly."
"When will we strike?" asked Hugh. "...And by the way, where is this ship going?"
"This ship is going East, toward Johto", replied Essentia. "We will strike once they go above the sea; reinforcements will have more difficulty arriving then. We are currently just west of Driftveil, so we must continue to wait."
---
Some time of sitting in silence later, Hugh was about to make a stray comment about how uncomfortable his armor was to sit in when he heard a door being slammed open and someone talking to someone else. Hugh made a "shush" sign to Essentia, who nodded.
"But why would they attack here?"
"I don't know, just help me check the place. If there really was a hole on the ship, then--
A cell phone ring. Hugh froze upon the realization of where it was coming from. He raised a finger behind his head and poked the green button to answer the call.
"Life got you down? Doesn't it make you want to just vent your frustrations by strangling the person next to you? Think those nasty thoughts no more! Because our new Cottonee Blessed pillows will help you feel refreshed and good as new!"
"...Essentia?" whispered Hugh. "Tell Xerosic that the solicitors found this number."
"...Really?" she answered.
"Who's there?!" cried out one of the soldiers.
"This is no ordinary pillow, however! This pillow has been laced with--"
Hugh stepped out in an upright position and spread the wings of his jetpack. He charged forward and tackled the first person he saw. The guy had managed to fire off a bullet, but the impact was absorbed by a biofield, which cackled. It cackled again on collision. Hugh fell down with the guy and brought down a fist to the Nova soldier's head.
"These spores are scientifically proven to reinvigorate--"
He was about to go after the other guy, but he had already about-faced and scurried out of the room. Another gunshot rang out and a new bullet hole formed right next to the open door. If it weren't for that wall, the bullet would've hit the side of the guy's head.
"Never again will your significant other feel dis--"
Hugh made a hard slap on the back of his head to force the telephone to turn off. He stood up while Essentia ran up to him with an uzi in her hand.
"Of all the Arceusdamn...!" Hugh growled in frustration. He turned to Essentia. "We've got to go loud ahead of schedule. Let's go together toward the target floor before separating."
She nodded. "My thoughts exactly."
They moved out as an alarm began blaring around them.

Although Hugh wasn't completely certain where the airship currently was, he knew that it was better to move quickly regardless. There didn't seem to be any sign at an attempted emergency landing, which was good. However, he didn't want to risk the possibility of reinforcements arriving. Best-case scenario, they would only be marginally better armed than the soldiers he and Essentia are effortlessly taking down on the airship. Worst-case scenario, Shadow Pokemon or Celena decide to arrive. Better to not risk it.
They've no doubt contacted someone important already.
Essentia kicked someone she just stabbed down the stairs once she and Hugh reached the second floor.
"The eggs you will be retrieving are over in that direction", she said, pointing to what Hugh believes to be the right side. "My own eggs are at the other side, by the perimeter. Once finished, we shall regroup here; your armor doesn't have an extraction program installed, so you'll want to grab my shoulder or something to tag along."
"Alright", said Hugh. "Let's hurry."
The each ran down opposite sides of the hallway. Hugh tackled a soldier that turned the wrong corner at the wrong time and stole his weapon for support.
-----
It took a surprisingly small amount of time for Hugh to locate the eggs and place Xerosic's devices on them. Resistance was also minimal compared to when the alarm first started blaring.
Makes sense. This is just a transport vessel, they didn't expect admin-grade rebel assaults. We probably took down most of the fighters already and everyone else is either not a fighter or smart enough to back off.
Hugh slapped a device on the last egg in his current room. He stood and waited to make sure the egg was teleported away safely.
That's a good amount already.
Hugh was about to advance and check to see if he got them all in this area when he heard a loud explosive noise coming from somewhere on the ship.
Essentia? No, something's not right. She doesn't have explosives are far as I know, and who would be dumb enough to use explosives inside a...
A bad feeling in his gut, Hugh decided to turn around and check on her progress, just in case.
Essentia stood in the room filled with about six dead or unconscious soldiers beaten down (it was going to be seven, but one of them wisely fled instead) for about a minute to see if there would be anyone else interrupting. After no further sign of resistance, she walked over to one of the storage crates holding Pokemon eggs, pried it open, and began humming some Christoph song to herself as she began to place Xerosic's devices on each egg.
I know the size of these storage containers differ and it would be difficult to accommodate and blah blah, but there has to be an easier way to do this than one at a time, right?
Some time afterward, Essentia was in the middle of extracting the contents of a second egg storage container when the alarms sounding around her stopped briefly before sounding again.
Wait, this new alarm is different. I can assume the first one was "intruder alert", but what's this one for?
Essentia was going to pick up the pace when she received a potential answer to her question. A large explosion that destroyed part of the wall knocked Essentia off her feet. She performed a backflip to get herself back to something resembling a fighting position and faced the hole in the wall, though a cloud of smoke prevented her from seeing past it. She was about to fire blindly through the smoke with her uzis when the storage crates on the wall suddenly slid and slammed her from the side, causing her to fall. She made a quick input on her gauntlet for her suit to emulate the Dark type, bracing herself to fight some form of Physic type.
The somewhat panicked voice from Xerosic in the other line told her in the worst way that this would not be the case.
Beware! Admin Duncan is at your position!
Essentia's heart sank as she forced the storage containers that slammed into her away (feeling horrible for the Pokemon eggs about to be caught in the crossfire) and dived to the side as another explosive was launched where she was seconds ago, incinerating the area.
Is he crazy?! He'll destroy the cargo he's trying to save!
It's too dangerous, I'm beginning extraction protocol.
Essentia tried hiding behind a crate. "No!" she muttered. "Hugh is still here! Call him and tell him where I am, we have to go together!"
Xerosic didn't immediately reply. Essentia looked out of her cover to see the Nova admin in the flesh hovering through the smoke into visible view, what appeared to be a grenade launcher in hand. He seemed to be scanning for any sign of her. She took a deep breath, reached for a handgun-like device strapped on her thigh, poked behing the crate and fired a electronic jammer before raising her uzi with her other hand and firing at his torso. Duncan made a motion with his hand at the direction of the jammer, which deflected right at the ground. He then simply allowed his suit's biofield to tank the following bullets as he fired the grenade launcher at Essentia once more. Thinking fast, Essentia dropped her firearm to raise a protect-generator just in the nick of time to protect herself from the blast. Duncan, however, discarded the grenade launcher and roared as he brought a fist to the barrier. His augmented strength caused the barrier to shatter apart.
Essentia slipped underneath a followup punch aimed at her face and jumped backward to create some distance between herself and the Nova admin. She was about to brandish her laser blade when she felt an intense weight suddenly push her to the ground. She tried and failed to move in the crushing gravity forced upon her. Xerosic's voice spoke up on the other line as Duncan began to walk closer.
I'm manually changing your suit to the Ghost type, get ready.
Essentia knew what that meant. As Duncan got particularly close, Essentia suddenly fell through the floor to a lower level. Aside from dim lighting, Essentia couldn't tell where she currently was as she picked herself up. Nor did she have time to, for that matter, as Duncan seemingly increased the force of gravity on the floor above to send the entire room crashing down. Essentia couldn't do much but raise her arms to shield herself from the debris. Knowing that Duncan would waste no time in striking at the first sign of vulnerability, she activated her laser blade and charged at him as soon as she spotted him.
If I can get point-blank, then he can't deflect the jam--
Essentia's hopes died right on the spot as a metal pole suddenly launched itself through the rubble and threw itself at her. She tried to swerve out of the way, but the pole still managed to slash her across the thigh. In a moment of vulnerability, Essentia stopped, gasping in pain at her wound. She wasn't able to react in time to Duncan appearing in front of her and backhanding her to the ground. Essentia tried to recover quickly, but Duncan grabbed her head and brought it against the corner of one of the storage crates that fell. At that point, all Essentia was able to do was writhe on the ground in pain as half of her visor was completely shattered.
"...Don't hold back", Duncan growled. He kicked her once in the stomach before he bent down and grabbed her by the arm. He brought his other hand to the back of her elbow. "Cry out like you mean it!"
Essentia unwillingly cried out in agony as her arm was broken. The arm was then pulled in a way to force her to lay on her back, to which Duncan grounded a heel on her abdomen, causing her further pain. She tried her hardest not to let him see the tears forming in her eyes.
"I will make you suffer, do you understand?" growled Duncan.
Hugh charged across the airship upon receiving the message from Xerosic alerting him to Duncan's presence. When he reached the area where Xerosic had told him Essentia was last in, he was just in time to see Duncan torturing her.
"I will make you suffer, do you understand?"
Hugh dropped down and activated his jetpack.
"All of you will--"
Hugh tackled Duncan right off of Essentia, even if much of the impact was negated by the biofield. Hugh tried scrambling back to his feet to better face the Nova admin, but he also found himself paralyzed to the ground. Duncan turned his back on Essentia to face Hugh.
"You! You--"
Despite everything, Essentia incidentally still had some fight left in her. Seeing an opportunity, she used her still usable left hand to pick up her fallen laser blade and thrust it at the back of Duncan's knee. While the strike itself was weak and Duncan's biofield absorbed the attack, it had enough of an impact to make him lose his balance briefly, causing him to remove the gravity field on Hugh. Thinking quickly and with barely anything resembling options, Hugh brought his laser rifle up, pulled the trigger, and fired.
Duncan let out an unholy scream of pain as the laser instantly pierced his biofield and burned through his shoulder. As he fell to his knees gasping in pain, Hugh discarded the rifle that went out in a blast of sparks and ran over to Essentia. He instinctively grabbed a shoulder as previously commanded before he realized Essentia's visor was destroyed. Blue eyes looked up at him, and his own eyes widened in shock, disbelief, and anger simultaneously.
"Hugh..." muttered Emma.
Her eyelids closed as she fainted and their surroundings changed. Hugh looked around and found himself in the same forest where he and Essen-- no, Emma had their scuffle after the mission at Realgam. Cursing to himself, Hugh gambled on using a fireman's carry to transport Emma back to Xerosic's lab and ran as fast as he could.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Hugh, his laser rifle was strong enough not only to gravely wound Duncan despite an active biofield, but managed to travel far enough to accidentally strike the airship's engines at a critical point. While the alarm siren changed once more and one of the captains spoke through the PA about emergency evacuation procedures, Duncan continued kneeling, hand grasping his wound and otherwise unable to move.
"This... is nothing", he muttered to himself. "I... will not die here. Not yet.
Osric... I will... For you..."
The airship would eventually crashland on an island just to the southeast of Johto in a fiery explosion.

Still greatly worried that he wasn't carrying Emma in the best possible way and potentially making things worse, Hugh jumped down the manhole to Xerosic's lab, not even bothering to close the lid behind him. He was greeted by Xerosic standing right outside one of the secret rooms he did tell Hugh about. The space inside the room was a little bit crowded, but that was because it was built with just one occupant in mind. A long machine inside took up much of the space, designed for an injured person to be laid on, with a top lid that almost looking like it belonged to a tanning machine to be placed over the occupant for healing.
"Hurry now," beckoned Xerosic. "I've told you how to work this thing, get to it!"
"You piece of s***", growled Hugh. "You think--"
Xerosic silenced him immediately. "Healing first. Talk later."
Hugh glared at Xerosic before entering the room and laying Emma face-up on the machine. He winced upon noticing the shards of glass from her broken visor that had embedded themselves into her face.
Xerosic opened a drawer filled with medical supplies. "Now get out of here! Arceus forbid this room has a small enough space to work in without you around!"
Hugh was immensely close to punching him in the face, but restrained himself if only because he was still in armor. Hugh left the room without saying a word. Xerosic slammed the door behind him.
-----
After getting himself out of armor, Hugh was left with the bodysuit to be worn in conjunction with the armor as his old clothes were far from clean (and said armor was fortunately more comfortable than it looked). He restlessly paced around in the lobby, with no one but the unborn Zygarde as company. After what felt like forever, Xerosic finally opened the door a little to signify that Hugh was allowed inside now. He immediately stormed inside.
"Good thing you came quick enough", said Xerosic. "Otherwise--"
Hugh grabbed Xerosic by the collar of his lab coat. "Why the hell didn't you tell me?!" he growled. "Why keep me in the dark about this?!"
Xerosic looked back at Hugh without changing his expression. "We would've told you eventually, but we wanted to ease you in to your new role as our new leader of our forces-to-be fir--"
"She's your daughter!" growled Hugh. "She almost died out there! How can you be so calm about this?!"
"This is not her first case of major injuries, nor will it be her last", replied Xerosic simply. "What good is there in experiencing panic every time she scrapes a knee?"
Hugh was just about to punch Xerosic right then and there when he heard Emma call out from her current bed.
"Hugh! It's okay!"
Hugh held his anger back just for the moment as he turned his attention to Emma. Save for an eye and the area below the nose, her face was almost completely bandaged. Looking downward, he saw that her suit was removed somehow and she was now wearing shorts. Bandages covered up most of her body (including the chest area), and her arm was slung in a cast.
"What?!" exclaimed Hugh. "But--"
"It's okay", repeated Emma. Her eyes were half-opened; she was understandably tired. "I knew what going out as Essentia required. I understood the risks. I was prepared for them because... I want to do anything to help dad in his plans. And not just that, either! Team Nova is something that must be stopped, and Galactic is similarly a grave danger as long as they have that weapon. I wanted to be able to make a difference instead of just barely scraping by on the streets on some town, or even sitting in a cozy house doing whatever I wanted!"
"It's her choice", said Xerosic calmly to Hugh. "Who are you to argue?"
Hugh curled his fists before letting go of Xerosic and turning away, hitting a desk in frustration. He then stood there, silently venting.
"...I shall be at my desk", said Xerosic. "Follow me there if you wish to discuss our next course of action. There are a few things that we must go over."
Xerosic walked outside. Hugh looked at Emma briefly, who simply nodded encouragingly. Hugh reluctantly followed Xerosic outside.
-----
"Well simply put, things have taken a turn for the unexpected", explained Xerosic. "Turns out that Sky Pillar is no more; destroyed, collapsed, etc."
Hugh's eyes widened. "What? What about the Galactic admins?"
"No concrete info yet", said Xerosic, "but word is that Jupiter definitely bit it. No word on Saturn and Mars."
"...What does that mean regarding the weapon?" asked Hugh.
"Other that Galactic's coordination has been disrupted?" said Xerosic. "Difficult to say. While new information becomes available, however, I do believe we should continue with the current path we are taking. I have a spare Y-comm from one of my spies. We recruit your old Yveltal group by sending messages to all Y-comms minus the one belonging to... what's her name? Who's ever it was that Mewtwo has their hands on. Anyway, I have a database on Galactic members, so anyone of them who shows up to a recruitment gathering to try to infiltrate us gets taken care of. After that, recruitment in the usual methods begins. Once Zygarde hatches, we shall use his powers of Earthly manipulation to build underground bases to house our soldiers, equipment, etc. Depending on new info and happenings, we decide what to do from there. Mainly, we have to figure out how Galactic is operating that weapon from here to the moon."
Hugh nodded. "...Okay."
Xerosic nodded and stood up. "We shall begin once the egg hatches. For now, I shall return home. Someone has to take care of Mimi while Emma is recovering, after all. Oh, and to go shopping for the new clothes I promised you."
"...Xerosic?" said Hugh. "...Sorry."
Xerosic merely shrugged as he packed his belongings and moved towards the exit. "Think nothing of it."
Right before opening the door, however, Xerosic paused. "...Hugh. Have you ever had prior experiences with admin Duncan?"
"Kind of", said Hugh. "I fought his shadow Pokemon before in Ever Grande while he was there, but I've never personally seen him man-to-man."
"How would you describe his... mannerisms during that time?" Xerosic said. The tone of voice at "mannerisms" suggested that it was the word closest to what he meant to say.
Hugh thought a moment. "It felt like we were lab rats and he was observing the shadow Pokemon's behaviors like they were experiments", he said at last. "I wasn't able to get too great a look at him since I was so busy fighting, but I've heard that he was cold and calculated. Although I hear the people he personally killed died brutally, he himself was never described as savage as, say, Celena."
"Few would match her levels", said Xerosic. "...However, this is quite curious. Your description directly contradicts the footage from Essen-- sorry, Emma's HUD that I viewed. He was brutal yes, but he was quite savage and relentless in his assault. Furthermore, his actions right before your timely arrival were, simply put, sadistic. I shudder to imagine what he would have continued to do to Emma had you not arrived."
"You think there's a reason behind that change?" asked Hugh.
"...I hadn't known at the time I dispatched you two", said Xerosic, "but I received unconfirmed reports of Osric King's demise; apparently died from a wound to the abdomen allegedly caused by Grimsley and his men. I trust you are familiar with him?"
He was in Yveltal before Galactic took over, wasn't he? He was still active? Did he even know what was going on with Galactic?
"...Then Duncan might have gone berserk by his son's death", concluded Hugh.
"Like I said, this is unconfirmed", said Xerosic. "I don't even know what happened to Grimsley and/or his men beyond this intel. Should they possess communicators, however, we may learn soon enough."
"I knew that Grimsley was on the team, but I don't know much else about him", said Hugh. "Whether he got a communicator when we began distribution or who the people working under him even were, your guess is as good as mine."
"Time will tell", said Xerosic.
As the self-proclaimed scientist left, Hugh's thoughts turned back towards Duncan. He replayed the moments on the airship in his mind.
Duncan... I don't know why, but I have a feeling he's still alive... I'm not looking forward to possibly meeting him again. ----
Hugh waited a few moments once Xerosic had left to return to the room where Emma was. She was sitting up this time, with a glass of water on her usable hand.
"Hey", said Hugh upon entering. "You okay?"
"Been better", replied Emma. She took another drink of water. "He just had to break the arm with my dominant hand, didn't he?" she joked.
"...Sorry about...earlier", said Hugh.
"Don't worry about it", said Emma. "Honestly, I wanted to tell you about me being Essentia almost immediately, but dad insisted."
"With the way I reacted, he was right", said Hugh. "...You're used to this, then?" he asked.
"Saying it like that makes it sound like I'm bad at this", joked Emma. "...But I've been in similar states, yeah. Sorry to break expectations, but Jay wasn't exactly a pushover, you know."
"I can't imagine otherwise", said Hugh. "...You know, now that we're doing this... Team Zygarde thing or whatever, we'll probably be seeing a lot more combat than we're used to. Probably going to have a lot more broken limbs, too. Even if we stay out of the way for a bit instead of going public, a few legendaries like Mewtwo and potentially Nova are going to sense that Zygarde is on the loose once he or she hatches."
"I'm not going to back out, if that's what your suggesting", said Emma.
"...I was going to reaffirm our partnership", said Hugh.
"...Oh", said Emma. "...Yeah, I can work with that just fine. We shook on it, after all. No take backs."
"Really?" said Hugh. "In that case, any more secrets I should be aware of?"
"I'll let you know if anything comes to mind", said Emma. "...Though speaking of secrets, do me a favor and keep all that happened today from Mimi, okay? The last thing I want is for her to worry."
"Okay", said Hugh. "Instead of saying you fought Duncan, I'll just say that you tripped and fell down some stairs."
Emma was about to protest when they heard something outside cracking. They stood in stunned silence when a second crackling sound confirmed that they were not hearing things. Hugh hurried out the door, while Emma continued sitting where she was since walking would hurt too much.
Hugh ran toward where the Zygarde egg was placed. Sure enough, it was shaking, cracks were forming on it, and the blanket placed on top had slid off. Hugh was about to run outside and hurry to call Xerosic over when the egg burst open, and the nearby pieces of furniture and machinery were crushed or knocked aside as a large creature took the place of the egg.
Knocked on his butt, Hugh looked up to see the newly born Order Pokemon looking around before noticing him. It crooked its head curiously.
"...Pops?"

Two Weeks Later
Location: Sinjoh Area
You know those joke paintings of a white snow leopard on a snowy mountain covered in snow in a snowstorm? The scene before Saturn was kind of like that, except the cat before him had a different kind of camouflage going on. The Colour Change Cloak around Saturn and Purugly was the latest of Galactic's top-of-the-line Pokemon ability devices. It rendered them completely invisible, even factoring in Psychic, Aura, and electrical field detection. It was kind of amazing. It was also probably the last that would ever be produced. Most people would consider that a good thing, seeing as manufacturing the cloaks involved skinning Kecleon, but Saturn wasn't too happy about it. For more than the practical reasons for once.
They were standing in the snow and the cold on a plateau near the base of the mountains. There was a single isolated cabin here, by the collapsed entrance of the ruins. The research centre that used to work here was shut down and abandoned long ago...which means by now there's a decent amount of people living there who want to avoid Nova. And it was one of those people that Purugly had her eyes on. They weren't red at the moment though. That would ruin the whole "white snow" aesthetic they were going for.
A hooded woman in a heavy coat suddenly appeared in a flash, Abra at her side and cart of food behind her. As she hauled it towards the door of the cabin, Purugly's eyes turned red, and stayed that way until the door was opened and closed, woman safely inside. Saturn stood by soundlessly, reserving judgement until a later time. He did figure that they had at least a rudimentary teleportation shield though, and five different ways to get inside and kill everyone there wandered through his head in the time it took for Purugly to decide they had spent enough time here, turn, and meow. Saturn nodded, and returned Purugly to its GS ball. He twisted a ring on his finger, and then fell through a Phantom Force portal into a toasty containment cell.
Location: Scorched Slab
A variety of scanners took some seconds to confirm his identity, before the cell opened and he walked into one of two remaining Galactic bases. The Scorched Slab was thought to have been destroyed, but it turns out there were still caverns underground. Opportunity knocked. The world's now most infamous rebel group answered. There weren't any lab facilities present. There wasn't enough space. It was completely defense oriented, acting as a shelter and storage facility.
The other Galactic base was their offensive one.
Regardless, Saturn made his way to his office. Toxicroak and Skuntank were there waiting, and he released Purugly to join them.
"Status report?" the Galactic Admin said.
Pururgly shook her head.
"So it's as we feared," Saturn said slowly, "Amnesia. At least we managed to find her. It's not a big deal. Correctable through Hypnosis."
He looked at Purugly before continuing, "If we want it to be corrected of course."
Purugly didn't usually display much of anything, but her head was hung and she lay on the floor, looking quite conflicted. Skuntank watched with leering eyes, wondering if he should step in. Toxicroak had the same expression on its face as it always had, but there was a distinct lack of croaking coming from its mouth.
"From a tactical standpoint, Mars isn't essential at this stage. There's no telling what complications might arise should we attempt to revitalize her cognition. I will leave the decision to you."
Saturn waved his hand to dismiss Purugly, and pulled out a GS ball. The cat didn't seem to think they were done though, and hissed at him.
"It's a choice your peers likely wont get to make." Saturn said matter-of-factly, before pointing the GS ball not Purugly, but Toxicroak. Saturn recalled his partner, as Skuntank ran up to Purugly, much more sympathetically than would normally be expected from it.
"You are more than capable of restoring her mind Purugly. However if that is not the outcome you seek, I suggest that you stay clear of the area. Seeing you might jog her memory regardless."
Saturn walked away, leaving the cat and skunk behind in his office.
"No big deal. From here on out, I can go alone."
Location: Realgam Tower
"Sit down!"
Molly pushed Eusine back down onto his hospital cot.
"I'm good! I swear!"
"You need three more doses. So you're here another day. Ok?"
Eusine pushed back up at Molly, but the mild tranquilizers in his system kept him down. Instead he pulled her down with him
See, when Eusine first showed up at Ralgam's sick bay, he spent a great deal of time belted down and on silence spray treatment due to multiple profane and violent outbursts of insanity. Once the Gracidea-induced psychosis died down, he spent another great deal of time belted down and on silence spray treatment due to him incessantly hitting on every person, male or female, who attempted to tend to him. And considering the location of his new irreparable disfigurement...
Luckily Molly decided to turn up and smack some sense into him. And the fact that she could just turn up out of nowhere without triggering any alarms, or even having Mewtwo detect her, raised almost as much of an alarm. But at this point, the staff were just happy to give Eusine a dedicated handler. Her situation was discussed with Mewtwo in private, and she was given a refugee bed in Realgam for the duration of her stay.
"Alright then fine. Shoot me up!" Eusine said, laying back in his hospital gown and spreading his legs. "Penetrate me!"
*POW*
Molly broke his nose.
"Nurse!" She said, running out from behind his sound-insulating curtains, "He broke his nose again!"
Eusine growled in pain...but pain was good. It took up space in his mind. He didn't want to be thinking about anything anymore...
Location: Agate Village
Disco squeaked directions to Shoegaze, who lifted another piece of machinery into place with Infestation. The shuckle had determination his eyes. Joanna ran up in a mask and a permanent marker to draw on what the pokemon were working on. She had determination in her eyes too. They were currently in a rather dimly lit garage. It didn't used to be so dimly lit, but Joanna told Disco to blow out one of the light bulbs since she wanted a more appropriate atmosphere.
The dimly litness suddenly ended when the garage door opened. Joanna quickly stood at attention and hid the marker behind her back.
"Are you all still working on that old thing?"
The elderly woman Joanna had taken to calling "Ma'am" came in to check up on them.
"Yep! I think it's almost done!"
That "old thing" Disco and Shoegaze were trying to put back together was an old and dusty desert cycle. It was one of those old hovering single wheeled models. As soon as they had found it, they saw a ticket back to Realgam Tower. Unfortunately, it didn't work. And none of them know how to make it work. So they...were kind of just doing stuff to it in hopes it would turn on. It felt like progress though, so they were happy.
Joanna was invited to draw on it. So she was happy too.
Location: Skies above Mt. Silver
Yveltal looked down.
"No."
Yveltal looked over the horizon, in the direction of Unova far across the world. Something over there....just didn't feel right.
Location: Deep below Mt. Silver
Blue rolled his eyes at his Y-comm. Some use Death Turkey was.
"Well," he muttered to himself, "I'm going to need some sort of back up..."
He peeked around the corner, and saw that hulking beast illuminated by the glow of lava. He had finally tracked it down. Regigigas was there, and it was hard at work. The heat didn't bother it at all, as it tempered and beat its work into shape with its bare hands. Its limbs moved with his enhanced speed, and whipped around in a frenzy, performing its tasks at least 10 times as fast as it remembered. All around it were pillars of rock, glaciers of ice, and tonnes of metallic ore, none of which were deforming under the intense heat and pressure in the cavern. They were however, deforming in Regigigas's hands, as he shaped the metal, carved the rock, and polished the ice to a shine. He was meticulous in detail but very selective in his stock. Like an experienced builder, he took only the finest materials for his craft.
The golem moved so quickly Blue could barely follow its process. But he could make out one thing: the shape that these materials were gradually forming. Or more appropriately, shapes, since the golem was slowly but steadily surrounding itself with dozens of creations, made in his own image.
"...yeah. Back up."

Realgam Tower - Joshua's Room
The door opened as Yancy finished putting her shoes on, now completely in work uniform and ready to go once she finished with her breakfast. She smiled as Ursaring set down the fruit for the Pokemon and Joshua set their breakfast on the desk.
"Good news", said Joshua. "My celeb status only got six people coming up to talk to me this short trip. Bad news, your celeb status had someone ask about you."
"It's going to be a while before all this attention dies down", said Yancy. "Guess I'll be staying over for a little while longer."
Shortly after returning to Realgam, the two of them quickly realized that the fact that they were both a famous movie star and singer respectively, as well as martyrs all over the news, would lead to a lot of attention whether they wanted it or not. While they were not entirely unused to such attention, and it wasn't always unwanted, being asked questions or being given requests for autographs for most of your daily life would get annoying. Seeing as Yancy shared sleeping quarters with a number of roommates and thus would receive even more attention, she was allowed to sleep in Joshua's room (and bed) for the time being. Of course, she had all but moved in at this point.
Joshua smiled. "I hardly mind. My only complaint is the occasional alarm clock disrupting the sleep you so eagerly want me to get."
"It's not my fault I have to work long hours!" protested Yancy. "Besides..." She smiled back. "I thought you liked our sleeping arrangements?"
"Of course", said Joshua. "Going to sleep with a wonderful, beautiful woman in my arms? What's not to like?"
Yancy just knew that her face turned beet-red. "O-Okay, let's stop with the distractions", she stammered. "I have to finish my breakfast before I'm late!"
Joshua simply smirked. "As you wish."
Yancy's attention turned to her muffin. Midway through, her gaze drifted toward a pair of small, circular devices laying on the table; The cosmic drives.
She couldn't help but reminisce about her receiving one of her own, the day they've returned to Realgam.

Two weeks prior...
"Ready?" asked Joshua.
Yancy, carried by Joshua, tightened her grip around him after finishing. "As long as they don't immediately tackle us with hugs while you're still holding me."
Joshua kicked the door to his room a few times. As soon as the door opened, he immediately pushed himself in and moved toward an empty spot on the bed to set Yancy down before anything else. As Joshua stepped away and his own Pokemon bolted towards him, Yancy was almost immediately lightly tackled by Togekiss, the cuddlebug of the group. He didn't seem to care that it was dirtying itself while doing so. She then felt a large, firm arm wrap itself from behind, obviously coming from Ursaring. As she placed a hand on both Togekiss and Ursaring's arm to bring them closer, she looked over and saw Gallade looking at her a short distance away, smiling slightly with his hands trembling. Yancy knew he may have been too proud to openly do anything to express himself, so Yancy nodded at him with a smile, to which he shook his head, stood up straight, and nodded back.
Yancy was tearing up and was struggling to find what words to say when she saw one of Serperior's vines right before it struck her across the face. She looked up in shock to see Serperior glaring at her before tears welled up her eyes and she placed her head on Yancy's shoulder, sobbing.
"I deserved that", said Yancy, petting Serperior on the head. "I'm sorry... to all of you for doing what we did. I promise that it will never happen again!"
Serperior looked up at Yancy and looked like she wanted to speak, but instead only moved her head downward sadly. Yancy then looked around the room.
"...Hey, where is Golurk?"
Her Pokemon shared unsure glances, interrupted by the cries of Manaphy and Rotom to Yancy's side. Serperior and Togekiss both moved aside to allow the children to join in on hugging Yancy. Yancy held back a sob as the two of them cried tears of joy.
------
"I'll be back with those crutches", said Joshua while leaving the restroom, having changed to a cleaner set of clothes in there (though save for washed hands and a washed face was still pretty dirty). "Will you be okay? Do you want anything else?"
"Actually", said Yancy. She passed him a sealed envelope containing a letter she briefly wrote. "Can you take this to the messengers, please? It... it's not much, but I want to be able to let my family know that I'm okay, to apologize for making them worry, and that... I can't really talk a lot, but I just want to put their minds at ease, you know?"
"Not a problem", said Joshua, taking the letter. "Anything else?"
Yancy thought a bit. "...No. I'm going to try to see if I can probably shower though... Is that okay?"
"As long as you don't strain your leg", said Joshua. "We need to settle down and take it easy while we fully recover. Riley's orders, right?"
"Don't worry", said Yancy. "I know my limits..."
They both lightly bumped their foreheads. Joshua then made a gesture to his Pokemon.
"Come on. Let's go for a walk."
Yancy smiled as his Pokemon eagerly took their followed him; with Grinn and Ditto taking their usual positions in his shadow and around his wrist, respectively. However, Rotom and Zoroark opted to levitate/walk beside him as normal.
A few seconds after Joshua left, Yancy turned to her Pokemon.
"Serperior, I didn't want to embarrass him; can you please go to my belongings in my barracks and get me some extra clothes, please? Riley said they weren't cleaned out yet."
Something about us not being confirmed KIAs yet.
Serperior did what was probably supposed to be her version of a curtsey before going out of the room. Yancy then turned to Ursaring and Gallade.
"I... Can you help me move to the showers?"
The two Pokemon took one of Yancy's arms and helped support her as she made her way there.
------
After a shower that left Yancy feeling better than she has in what felt like an eternity, she changed into a cleaner set of clothes from a pile brought to her by Serperior, and used the crutches Joshua had generously slipped by the door to exit the restroom. He appeared to have been saying something toward Ursaring, but stopped and went over to Yancy when she appeared.
"I'm okay", said Yancy before Joshua could say anything.
"...That's good", he said.
"...Did finish your errands?" She asked.
"...Yeah", said Joshua. "Delivered your letter, got your crutches and spoke to the medical staff about your condition, and spoke to Nelson", said Joshua. "...Slightly more of a chore than it need to be, what with everyone I passed by wanting to talk to me about my martyrdom, my acting career, or both. Probably more than even before the war, actually. I might have to lay low for a while."
"Really?" said Yancy. She gestured for some support from Joshua, wanting to sit on the bed. "But... I sleep in the barracks!"
"You could hide out in my room", suggested Joshua. "I hardly mind."
"R-Really?" said Yancy, blushing slightly.
"Really", said Joshua. "Now, I think I've been putting off washing myself a few minutes too much already, so I'll just go and do that, but before I do..."
Joshua dug though his coat pocket and presented a small, circular device to Yancy. "Isn't that the thing you carry with you?" she asked.
"It's similar", he said. "It's a Cosmic Drive. Nelson apparently acquired a spare somehow. It's a little bit different from mine -- I tested it -- but the main draw of it is the same. If you think of a Pokemon or a group of Pokemon you've formed a strong enough bond with as you, your minds get 'linked'.
...That's all I'm going to say about that to not spoil the surprise. You're going to have to try it yourself to see how amazing it is firsthand. Trust me when I say it's safe."
"I do", said Yancy. "Thank you."
Joshua squeezed her hand briefly as he gave her the device. He sped over to the restroom, eager to feel clean again.

Although the pain she felt from her leg was substantially less than before now that it was tended to some extent, Yancy still struggled to bring her leg back onto the bed and pull herself to a lying down position. She sighed as she felt fatigued.
So much has happened in such short time, I'm exhausted... and some of the others aren't doing as well as we are. We don't even know what happened to Hugh yet... I'm worried.
Yancy looked downward to see Togekiss hover over to lay on the bed beside her. It inspected her bandaged leg with concern. Yancy sat herself up and reached over to pet him in the head.
"It's not that bad", she assured him. "It will heal, even though it will take a while. I just need to take it easy. So don't worry, okay?"
Togekiss nodded at her, but continued to lay on the bed and give the bandages a gloomy gaze. As she continued stroking him, she looked at the Cosmic Drive Joshua gave her (noting how surprisingly light it felt). Compared to the one Joshua often held, it looked almost identical, save for a slightly lighter shade of blue hers had.
Maybe we should mark them somehow in order to tell which is which.
Hmm... I just have to focus on my Pokemon while I hold down this button? But Golurk isn't here. Would it be out of range? I think I should exclude it for now, just in case.
With Togekiss, Serperior, Gallade, and Ursaring in her thoughts, Yancy pushed the button. The device sprang to life with what appeared to be currents of light or energy moving throughout the device's perimeter. She didn't feel any different, and judging from the lack of reaction her Pokemon seemed to have, neither did they. Yancy was about to do the time-tested "turn-on, turn-off" procedure when she heard a thought that wasn't hers or even Mewtwo's inside her head. It sounded feminine.
"...Perhaps a paper and pen? No. I am a symbol of noble grace in all except handwriting. It would likely turn out illegi--"
Another voice seemingly interrupted her. This voice was masculine, albeit young and boyish sounding. "With your personality, your only form of grace is-- wait a minute, was that telepathy?"
Beside Yancy, Togekiss looked startled as it shot a look at Serperior. The Regal Pokemon turned and shot daggers at the poor Jubilee Pokemon. While Yancy had seen Serperior shoot glares at others for whatever reason, this glare in particular was particularly chilling. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Gallade and Ursaring performing movement in response, in contrast to Joshua's Pokemon seemingly not noticing anything out of the ordinary.
"Togekiss," said the feminine voice. "Would you mind repeating that once more? You were unclear the first time."
Togekiss cried out in terror and flew briefly to cower behind Yancy. Yancy's eyes widened and she brought a hand up to her mouth in shock as she began to realize what was going on.
A third voice joined the telepathic group chat. The tone it took sounded like a drill sergeant in an old war movie Yancy saw once. Somewhat loud, too. "You would dare cower behind the one whose safety is your duty to ensure?!"
A fourth, gruffer voice was the last to join in. It was the loudest, though mostly because it was trying to talk over even the drill sergeant. "SILENCE, YOU FOOLS! Do you not understand that our thoughts are being telepathically linked? Mother is hearing every word! This is what Joshua warned you about, and yet you disregard his words?!"
Yancy swallowed as she now understood what was happening. She decided to try thinking her thoughts instead of voicing them. Togekiss... Serperior... Gallade... Ursaring? Is that...
"Yes, mother", said the gruff voice... Ursaring.
Wow, said Yancy. She was completely mesmerized and began choking up. I don't... I can't put it into words but... I've always wanted to... to know what you were all thinking and to talk to you and now that I can, I...
"...Serperior?" said the young boy... Togekiss. "Wasn't there something you wanted to say?"
Yancy looked up and saw Serperior nervously approaching and looking at her. "Y-, I mean, Lady Amora... Earlier, I err... Lost control of my emotions and struck you, and..."
Do not worry. I forgive you. Like I said, I deserved it.
"No you didn't!" retorted Serperior. "Don't even think for a second longer that you deserved it! You performed the noblest deed anyone -- human or Pokemon -- could have ever done! You should be proud of yourself for being so selfless! It is just... I've already lost Nate, so when the possibility of also losing you came, I... I lost myself... I couldn't control my emotions. I was selfish; the polar opposite of you! You should be ashamed of me!"
A tear fell down Serperior's cheek. Yancy turned and moved closer to the edge of the bed despite the pain in her leg. She opened her arms.
Come here Serperior. I appreciate what you said, but I still deserve at least part of the blame. I didn't fully respect how you would feel. We only held you in those Pokeballs because we knew you would all try to stop us, but we felt a duty to do it what we did, and we feared you all insisting on coming with us and being Starbursted or worse. But that is all over now. We are reunited... So can we all reconcile and develop even stronger bonds amongst ourselves while we can? To promise to remain together no matter what from now on? To never let each other go?
Serperior's tears welled up again as she accepted Yancy's hug. "Yes! That is what we will all do!"
Yancy's other Pokemon nodded an agreement.
Thank you. I am blessed to have such wonderful Pokemon.
...But Serperior, why don't you just call me "Yancy"?
"N-Nonsense!" protested Serperior. "You are a graceful lady who deserves better than to be addressed like the common... commoner! I'd rather not sully your name under any circumstance!"
"Didn't you cry out 'Yancy' when you were sobbing at her leaving?" asked Togekiss. He immediately cowered as Serperior briefly broke from the hug to give another chilling glare.
Yancy laughed. Lady Amora it is. Anyway, we have plenty of time, how about we all talk for a while? I have so many questions and things to say!
Ah! Wait! Do any of you know where Golurk went?
"Commander, that device has limitless range, as far as any of us are aware", said drill sergeant Gallade.
So then I should try linking with it? Okay, I'll try.
Yancy focused her attention on Golurk and pressed the button again. The currents moving within the Cosmic Drive stopped moving. It didn't take a genius to understand that she turned it off.
Hmm. It is going to take me a while to get used to using this.
Yancy focused on all of her Pokemon -- Golurk included -- as she pressed the button again. Golurk's robotic voice spoke first.
"PSYCHIC INTERFERENCE DETECTED. IDENTIFYING SOURCE. ANTI-TELEPATH SUB-ROUTINE STANDING BY."
Umm... Golurk? Is that you? It's me, Yancy, your trainer.
"ANALYZING... MASTER'S IDENTITY CONFIRMED. INFORMATION COINCIDES WITH DATABANKS. NOW SWITCHING TO SEMI-AUTOMATIC OPERATIONS. QUERY: WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF THIS PSYCHIC INTERFERENCE? WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT LOCATION?"
Umm... I have this device that lets me connect with the minds of those I've bonded with... something like that. Also, I am back in Realgam Tower... In Joshua's room.
"...Affirmative. Psychic interference of this wavelength currently allowed. Sub-routines disabled for this wavelength. Internal data updated. Now returning to base. Estimated time: 6 minutes."
Are you okay? Where were you?
"Damage minimal. All systems normal. This unit was previously at a location known to humans as 'the Sevii Islands' in an attempt to retrieve master from hostile environments. Data downloaded from units in the area stated that master was located there. Now purging incorrect data from data banks."
You went to go save me? Thank you!
Yancy waited a moment for a response, but did not receive any. Yancy realized that she probably wouldn't expect the same kind of conversations from what appeared to be an emotionless robot as with "organic" Pokemon. Eventually, a Phantom Force portal opened in the middle of the room, startling poor Manaphy as Golurk re-entered the room.
Aaah! Golurk, you're covered in blood!
"Affirmative. Hostiles encountered. Termination protocols completed successfully."
N-No details please... We should wash you off, later... Or at least, I would if my leg wasn't so bad.
"HAS MASTER SUFFERED DAMAGES?"
I'm fine! Honest! I will only take a few days of recovery, that's all.
"...Roger."
So umm... Anyway, Yancy turned to the rest of her Pokemon. ...Let's talk, shall we?
-----
Joshua dried himself and got dressed inside the restroom before stepping out.
"Ahh, that's refreshing."
Yancy, crowed by her Pokemon, beamed happily at him. The smile was seemingly contagious, as he grew a wide smile himself upon seeing her. As he approached to take a seat next to her, she wrapped her arms around him and pulled him into a tight embrace.
"Thank you!" she cried out. "I don't know what else to say but... Thank you! This means so much to me!"
Joshua reciprocated the hug. "I know. To be honest, I kind of wanted to get a Cosmic Drive for you sooner, but I didn't have the time nor luck to get one until now. I was thinking about letting you borrow mine, but then the Seviis... well..."
"Thank you all the same", said Yancy. "You better give that Nelson person a raise or something!"
"If you say so", said Joshua. "...Though I might not be able to for a while, since my team needs to be reassembled and it takes a while for the paperwork to be processed and..."
Yancy let go to look at him. "Just think of something, okay?"
Joshua nodded. He looked to the side to see that Manaphy and Rotom were loitering in the side, poorly faking disinterest. Joshua understood they wanted.
"...Say", he told Yancy. "Did you try linking with Manaphy and Rotom? I'm sure they would like it."
The two Pokemon in question hovered over and looked at Yancy in anticipation. She giggled and pressed the Cosmic Drive twice.
...Manaphy? Rotom?
"Mommy!" "Mama!"
The two of them dove in for a hug. Yancy welcomed them.
