"Commander wai--!"
Micah couldn't stop Corva as she went to get dressed. She reappeared, and before Micah could raise a finger and open his mouth to speak, him and Wing were pulled through a portal and were now rapidly descending over an ocean. Wing was able to lighten the load, at the very least.
Micah pulled himself up so that Corva could hear him better over the relatively strong winds. "She's a secret, remember?" he spoke through gritted teeth, nodding his head at the levitating Wing.

"Corva remembers! We're splitting up. Wiiiiing! Go look over that way. And I'll look this way, and Ghost can go that way! Run along. And call if you find anything!" Corva flips her hand towards Austin to shoo him along.

Austin simply nods, and flanks out towards the left.
Flying over the ocean the clean blue sea, seeing shadows of water pokemon and some even skirting along the tops of waves...
It was beautiful.
And in danger.
Rarely did he take time to stop and smell the roses or just appreciate life. But Jacquey had helped him a bit in that regard. She'd reminded him why there was a war, and why someone had to fight it, and why he had to fight. She'd given him a reason to fight. His own reason seperate from the idealogies, commands, orders, and philosophies of all those that ordered him around.
He would fight to peotect the crescent waves that sparkled in the sunlight. The pokemon that swam in them. For the people thst couldn't fight. He would fight so noone else would have to. So that, in the future, people could enjoy this scenary, without worry or stress of destruction and death looming over them and it.
So he flew, hugh over the ocean, watching the waves and looking out for any land, whatsover.

"K, it's just us now!" Corva is able to hold Micah on his own without much difficulty. "Hurry up and call out the Bitey-Bird!"

Micah waited until Wing was a dot in the distance for him to drop Latias's Pokeball beneath him. The Eon Pokemon materialized, head dropped low and briefly descending before it jolted to attention.
"Zzzzzz... Mmph, huh?"
"Scarlet!"
Scarlet looked up as Micah called for her, maneuvering to catch him as he dropped down.
"Oof!"
"Good morning," Micah said as he got himself comfortable.
"Good morning! Also, what are we doing above the ocean?!"
"Duty calls. I wanted to give you and the others a proper good morning, but the commander gave me... unwanted baggage."
"But those morning rituals are the best times we have to talk, and I like talking with you!" Latias glared up at Corva up above. "I don't care who she is, once this mission is over, I am eating her! Raw!"
Micah held out his secret weapon to placate the uppity Pokemon. She was never a morning person. "Would some chocolate convince you to forgive her?"
Latias whipped her head back, squee'd then plucked the candy bar with her mouth. "Okay. I'll let her live. So, what are we doing?"
"Apparently, they want us to look for Nova or legendary Pokemon activity," he explained. "Let's start by looking out for some islands."
"Roger that!"
Latias unwrapped the candy bar and happily munched down on the treat while her mount kept on the lookout.

Quicksand; where trying to move just digs you deeper. Eusine knew his way around the technicals of a sand trap, but the most difficult part to approach is the mental. Movement digs you deeper. Trying to save yourself just makes things worse, and the deeper you fall, the harder it is to move, and the less it seems worth the effort. Confusion, panic, dread, slipping away, fade to black.
Come come now, up and at 'em.
A light in the darkness.
Oh dear, look at this mess. Hardly a welcoming sight. I suppose we had better get started if we want any progress.
Glimmering pink featherdusters began to mop up the darkness. It kind of tickled.
Location: Mirage Island
Dragonite, Greninja, Delphox, Pikachu, Corphish, Sylveon...
Blue made notes in his head. They were subtly interrupted by a signal from his Alakazam.
"Thanks, but we have business. This island's true function is as a pokemon sanctuary, especially for legendary pokemon who would prefer to stay hidden." he said as he watched Carleen run off. "Molly, help yourself. Marley, Riley, let's go meet our patient."
He and Celebi turned to leave, towards a more densely wooded part of the island.
Meanwhile, Molly settled down for some stew, also noting Carleen running off. "Thank you very much," she said to Vern and the others, "I'm...glad, I suppose, that of all the people who could have found this place it was you."
Location: Hoenn Seas
Beneath the waves, wind tunnels traced laps between the ruins of Ever Grande and Pacifidlog. A decidedly gothic-looking Suicune raced about them, its mistress riding along picking up messages from her.
"There. Right there. Scan harder!"
That's not how scanning works. When I see something I will let you know.
Nova Executive Marissa scowled and changed channels.
"Give me good news!"
"Uh...the Starmie are picking up a static differential building in zone four. Could be something. Probably a Chinchou."
More scowling. Then beeps from the first channel.
It's a Pelliper.
"How could it be a PELLIPER? We're looking for PSYCHIC types! PSYCHIC!"
This part of the sea had been affected by strange weather patterns for weeks. That alone was suspicious enough to get Nova's attention. But then 36 hours ago, a blip appeared on the legendary pokemon watch alert. Those have been happening with suspicious rarity as of late, but they were usually cause to send a squad, with an agent or two, to check things out. But this one was different. This blip was very subtle, but also seemingly engineered to confuse Nova probe technology version 8.6. They likely only caught this one because the 8.7 patch had literally come out of processing an hour and twenty-two minutes before the signal was detected (which not only suggested that there was a mole in engineering but that they had successfully circumvented them, poor sucker). Also, the blip was of the extra-spicy time-travel flavour.
Marissa just happened to be the best psychic Nova still had under their employ. That, and she was Celena's only remaining Executive and the Admin threatened to go even crazier than usual at even the slightest possibility of finding Celebi. Matrices of human-linked Starmie were laced underwater, launching psychic and radio waves to blanket the south Hoenn sea. Nova divers with Starburst tagged anything that moved. Marissa herself tried to find the slightest hint of there being ANYTHING unique about this part of the world...and still nothing. For 36 hours. No sleep. Very frustrating.
Well then it's a psychic Pelliper. Look, I just run the software.
Marissa growled, "If you want me in a murderous mood, you got it."
She tapped into Suicune's subconscious and ordered a Sheer Cold at the anomaly from underwater. Freaking psychic pelliper. More like...pellipopsicle...
"...Wynaut?"
A wynaut jumped back from the large Reveal Glass sitting in one of Mirage Island's caverns.
"Wynaut!"
The glass displayed notable happenings in the nearby outside world. Not in real time, mind you, but in some sort of replayable, abridged, and edited format. Most of the time it was wailmers breaching, luvdisc mating, wingull hunting, or uninteresting drivel that was just barely worth giving attention. So naturally the Wynaut had taken to it as a cable television substitute. "Dark Suicune" seemed to be the sighting of the day, but then...
"Wynaut wynaut wynaut!"
The lone watching Wynaut frantically called out to its compatriots. a few others.
"Wynaut?"
"Wynaut!"
"Wynaut!?!?!"
There was a Latias on screen. Suicune was going to shoot it with ice.
"Wynaut!!!!!"
This last call caused Landorus to look over. This...this was actionable.
As the attack launched, the Reveal Glass shut off abruptly and the Wynauts groaned. It needed to recharge every 11 minutes or so.

Scarlet paused before she got a chance to take her first bite out of her second chocolate bar.
"Hey, Micky... Did you hear something?"
Micah changed his gaze from the horizon to his mount. "What, that wasn't you?"
"Mickyyyy, you know I'm not that loud!"
Actually, I think she's righ-- aw s***!
"Turn!"
Micah held on tightly to his mount. Scarlet knew better than to question the urgency of his voice and looped sharply to the side just before the sudden blast of frigid cold burst up in front; it would have caught them if Latias hadn't changed her course last minute.
Scarlet ruffled her feathers as she stopped to frantically search the sea. "I feel malice coming from somewhere below! But where--?"
"We're being targeted!" Micah commanded. "Evasive action!"
The feathers on Scarlet enfolded itself, refracting light and cloaking themselves from the naked eye. The Eon Pokemon turned in the opposite direction and sprinted away as far as it could manage.
A candy wrapper floated down towards the Hoenn sea.
Following Blue and Celebi, Riley motioned for Marley to stall behind them for a personal conversation.
"No offense, Marley," Riley muttered, "but I think that outburst back there was below the belt."
"I spoke without thinking it over," Marley admitted. "...But to be honest, it's how I feel. All these years... watching society turn blackhearted... the death... Going to bed wondering if the next day will be the one where I or someone I care about doesn't make it... Not knowing if you or Cheryl or anyone else is still alive... I believe I would do anything to skip those moments."
"I get that," Riley said, "but think of it this way; what if you got what you wanted and found this island, but you're the only one who did."
"What do you mean?"
"Imagine you're here on this island for a few days, and when you got out, ten years passed. Mira is now ten years older than you, a completely different person from before, and you also learn that Cheryl lived in constant day-to-day struggles, and I'm now pushing up flowers. How would that make you feel?"
Marley gulped and diverted her gaze. Her pace slowed. "...I'd feel... disconnected from the world if Mira... and if you and Cheryl... I-I probably wouldn't... I would wish that I could have... helped..."
Riley patted her on the back. "Sorry for being a downer, but do you get it now? What they might be going through?"
"You're... correct... as usual." Marley took a deep breath. "I will apologize when we return."
Riley smiled. "Atta girl. I know the grass may look greener at first, but try to keep an open perspective, alright?"
Marley nodded as she regained passed. "Hmm."

Carleen walked over to the Pokeball which housed the Meloetta. Carleen felt a little hesitant about pressing the pokeball but Greninja came by her side and reassured her. Carleen picked up the Pokeball and gently pressed open the button to release Meloetta.
Carleen was surprised when the first thing that happened was Melotta tackled her and began hugging her. "I missed this so much thank you for that battle and everything," Yuzu told Carleen.
"Umm what just happened wait what," Carleen looked really confused.
"Oh Ms. Carleen sorry about all those things I said,". "I am so glad to be your Pokemon now,". "I hope we can form a great team," Yuzu told Carleen.
"Umm what about Pika, and the whole threatening to take away my Pokemon and," Carleen stammered.
Pika was wide awake after eating the Lum berry presented to him by the Wynat. Pika began running towards him like he never ran so fast before and then jumped up and began nuzzling Carleen. "(Mom mom mom I missed your cuddles,)". "(Mom we had to I am so sorry please please forgive me,)" Pika pleaded with Carleen.
"Wait I thought you were, and she was, and I was and...," Carleen began feeling a bit faint. Bob (the Venusar) caught her with his vines and placed her on his back. Greninja joined Carleen by her side and laid against her. "Umm Yuzu what's going on?" Carleen asked Yuzu.
"Well you were feeling all depressed and everything,". "I could also tell how much doubt was inside your aura,". "So I told everyone and your Pokemon to let me handle this,". "This whole fight was a part of my plan,". "So far so good Ms. Carleen?" Yuzu asked as Carleen just looked at her and nodded.
"I wanted to try and rekindle your spirit and a Pokemon battle was the best way,". "Through the battle I could see your aura beginning to flair to life,". "I also wanted to just show you a little what could possibly happen with Nova,". "This isn't a normal battle,". "Plus these aren't just some normal thugs," Yuzu told Carleen.
"They will take your pokemon without remorse, they will not hesitate to attack you,". "I kinda of wanted to help you with that,". "Of course most of the stuff I said was kinda of exaggerated but some of it was the truth,". "I really hope this helped you," Yuzu told Carleen.
"Well it was kinda of extreme but well I really appreciate the effort,". "I am just really glad you guys are okay,". "Plus I really missed these moments, when I would lie next to my Pokemon like this and we would just gaze at the stars,". "I remember when I first started out on my journey with Pika,". "There were plenty of nights the two of us would camp out and just stare at the stars,". "How we would tell each other our dreams of being the world's greatest Pokemon trainer,". "A champion that could be loved by all and a champion for the people," Carleen told all her Pokemon.
Yuzu and Pika were now laying on type of Carleen who was laying against the flower of Bob.
"I want to fight to protect these moments,". "Not just with you guys but with those great people we end up traveling with,". "Also so that way when Nova is gone we can start rebuilding everything,". "Most importantly a place where Pokemon and people can live in harmony again,". "That's why I will fight to not only protect my pokemon and friends,". "I fight to protect everyone's Pokemon and friend," Carleen told all her Pokemon.
Carleen started to feel a little sleepy and began to lean against Greninja and Bob's flower and began to close her eyes. Pika was already fast asleep laying on the lap of Carleen and Yuzu was relaxing in Carleen's arms.
"Hmm I am really glad to see that smile and her strong aura return," Yuzu commented. Yuzu then had a feeling come over her like some type of weird sense. "Hmm I wonder something during our Pokemon battle,". "It almost felt like the Aura of Greninja and Ms. Carleen overlapped and were one,". "I wonder though what could it mean or did it really happen,". "Hmm she is certainly a weird one though I am really glad I have such a weird and wonderful trainer," Yuzu said to herself feeling her eyes starting to grow heavy and she fell asleep.
Bob feeling content let out a mighty Saurrrrrr as he made sure his passengers were nice and secure. "(Heh what a fascinating trainer I have),". "(She managed to not only heal the hearts of those two survivors from Kalos,"). "(She managed to befriend and capture a legendary Pokemon,"). "(If only your big bro whom entrusted his cherished Bulbasaur in you,"). "(Must have been the reason why I am named after him,)". "(Carleen I promise to always look out for you and to protect you,)" Bob said. Bob began making his way back to the beach with everyone safely secured on his back.

As the water shines beneath him, Austin snaps back to reality. He still has trouble stopping himself from spacing out, especially when using Psychic. Still, it was too useful an ability to quit using and he was doing his best to manage. His psyche wasn't exactly in perfect condition, but Jacque had helped him work on it.
As his eyes were getting heavy, seeing nothing but blue expanse, suddenly, they shot open as something caught them. Green. Land. An island to be exact.
Not sure if this was exactly what they were looking for, he made a note of it's location and sent Corva a message.
Found Something. Sending Coords.
Short and sweet. Nothing more than needed. Corva didn't exactly seem friendly, but he wasn't one to talk about having some loose screws. Best to avoid screwing things up and having a repeat of Neal.

Corva is bored. Bored, bored, bored. Nothing but ocean, ocean, water, ocean, fish, ocean, cloud... Bored. No ghosts. Nothing to turn into a ghost.
Her gear pings. It's from her new agent! She messages Austin back. "Kaaaay, comin'."
She turns around and messages Micah. "Heeey, Wing found something! Meet me at these coordinates and I'll pick you up."

Poke.
Poke poke.
Y'know, time's been frozen over ever since you stopped working.
I know. I KNOW. Of course I know.
Nah bro, it's not a complaint. I get ya. Father has you working multiple jobs, while I don't even bother with one.
Your point?
Eh. Don't really have one. Just popping in to remind you I exist.
Hm. Well then.
"Go! Go! Go!" Marissa shouted as Suicune obeyed, hot in pursuit of a newly registered psychic signature. The resolution is poor, but something strong is definitely ahead of you. I'm bringing the Starmie in.Marissa threw a psychic probe of her own forward. Her helmet helped to amplify the effect, but she was again met with nothing. That was worth another frustrated scowl. "Patch me in to Seb!" I'm not your AI"I'm talking to the AI!" "One AI at your service Mistress?" "Seb! Send me Elise and whichever agent we have on Mega-Armour Metagross." "That would be myself" "Then get suited up!"
Blue and company made their way to the entrance of a cave, hidden by the shore at the base of a cliff. A faint psychic aura emanated from inside, and the ground was littered with translucent green-yellow feathers evoking a crescent moon. It wasn't exactly musty, but the air inside was warm and smelled of being well-lived in. "Our guests have arrived." Blue announced. " Marley and Riley I presume, welcome." returned a psychic voice. Just inside to greet them was Cresselia. " Please excuse my foreknowledge. I learned as much through my attempts to rid your ally of his nightmares. Thank you for coming to help.". Behind the Lunar pokemon on a makeshift bed of leaves lay an unconscious Eusine. More notable though was the similarly unconscious Volcanion next to him.

Micah hastily messaged Corva back.
"I'm under attack! From the ocean. Can't identify attacker."
Marley wordlessly reached for Shaymin's Pokeball and sent him out. The creature looked up at Cresselia with mesmerized eyes, before looking to the side and noticing Volcanion. It nervously backed away slowly. Marley knelt down and pet its back reassuringly.
"Well, nice to meet you, Cresslia," Riley said, bowing slightly. "I gotta say, the drawings of you do not compare to the real thing."
It shouldn't take this much effort to get up from bed.
Conscious only by the loosest intepretation of the word, it felt like he was floating deep underwater, the pressure of a couple leagues upon his body. Distant sounds could be heard. Muffled murmers. Unintelligible. After a moment of focus, they became slightly clearer. Human voices. A few distant. One extremely close one.
"...ey.............ba...."
"Wak.......and......."
It sounded like "Wake". "Wake up?" Sounded like a pain, but probably the right thing to do. A faint light shone in the distance. It took a lot of willpower to get the light to shine brighter.
Eyelids shot open. Vision blurred, sharpening slowly as a ceiling fan spinning slowly above came into focus. His head spun. As if his brain was rebooting itself, it took a while to recall basic facts. A splitting migraine rang in his head.
He focused on sounds. Distant talking. Footsteps. A rhythmic beeping. A phone ringing. Finally, something in his head speaking.
"Wakey wakey, eggs and bakey!"
The headache multiplied exponentially. At least everything is slowly starting to fall back into place.
Body feels completely numb. Maybe residual effects of the drug. Maybe the sleeping medication and anesthesia in your system. Most likely both. A twitch of the fingers, hands lying by the sides. A wiggle of toes. Thinking about never taking basic movement for granted again, while slowly reaching up to rub weary eyelids.
What year is it?
"You've been asleep for three years."
Very funny.
Sitting up straight. The medical wing's notoriously cold air ran chills down the body, but any feeling is good feeling right now.
"Ready to get out of this dump?" ...No. Probably. Ugh, my head. "Oh boy, not this again. Okay, let's check for any loose screws. Question 1: where are we?" Realgam Tower. "Question 2: What's your name?" I'm Crobatman. "No, really." Grant. "How many fingers am I holding up?" You don't have any fingers. "Are you sure?"
Grant looked downward. His hands were holding up the fingers. Six. "You pass." This is dumb. "You obviously don't remember the days where you struggled to recall your own name. Now rise, shine, and try to look presentable. You're supposed to get cleared to get out of here, but they'll change their minds if you look like crap." Can't argue with that.
Grant sighed as he turned. Feet now hanging off the bed, he glanced over to the desk next to the bed, littered with a couple of assorted goodies. A small ornament caught his attention.
That's new.
He reached over and picked up a moderately sized wooden box. A soothing chime came out of the box as a small spinning Liligant spun around in place. Grant's finger grazed against the crank toward the back of the box he failed to notice. He reached in and plucked out a piece of paper stubbornly folded into the box.
Hey Grant! I know this isn't the manliest gift in the world, but I've been busy out on assignment lately, so no time to pick out nicer gifts or anything. Can't even visit or anything, this one had to be mailed out. Hope you don't hate it or anything, because I just want you to know that I'm thinking of you and hope you're well again soon. Hope we can talk in person soon. - Tierno
P.S. I let Meridia take over for Pokesitting while I'm gone. Don't worry.
"I don't remember who this Tierno guy is, but he sounds pretty punchable."
Grant ignored the ghost in his head as he set the box and message aside, not letting it spoil his relatively positive mood as he looked over the desk. Unfortunately, the medical staff didn't allow a whole lot of visitors. In fact, by the time Grant had regained cognition, they were outright banned, since too many people were trying to get close to the now-famous lad for comfort while he was still recovering. Anyone who had visited had done so when he was unconscious or delirious. Fortunately, Grant thought as he looked over the other items on the desk, there was plenty of evidence that the ones that mattered had gotten a chance to do so. A stack of postcards from soldiers he was acquainted with. A handful of Crobatman comics from Joshua (including a few he hadn't read before). Some candy from Yancy. A Honedge keychain from Riley (Gawain's personal favorite). A Friend Ball from Mia. Some fruit from one of Riley's friends. A small bottle of cologne from Sycamore...
At the middle of all of it, standing tall above them, a glass jar holding a bouquet of flowers.
Meridia.
Grant smiled to himself as he leaned over to the remote built into the bed.
Which one's the call button, again?
I can't believe I drifted off to sleep like that!
Realizing that she had nodded off after laying on the bed for a few minutes, Meridia rolled off the bed and scrambled to get dressed, secure a few tools for fieldwork just in case, and sprint to see if Molly and Riley hadn't left her behind, preferably without looking as suspicious as possible doing it.
Dressed with the first things she could reach -- a tank top and shorts -- she hurriedly packed a backpack with Pokemon medicine, a compass, a canteen of water, and a few firearms. She was about to stuff a pair of binoculars before taking off, when something out her window caught her eye. She paused and observed an object off in the distance, flying in the sky. It's silhouette didn't seem to resemble any of the flying Pokemon in the Orre region, and it's movements as it zipped around in the sky were not only peculiar behavior, but also moving way too fast for most Pokemon to keep up. Meridia stepped closer to the window and peered through her binoculars. It was somewhat difficult to track.
It's blue... maybe some white... and won't hold still so that I can tell more than that... It almost looks like...
Meridia lowered her binoculars a bit and caught the blue streak suddenly fly off to the distance near Pyrite Town and settling down somewhere by the coastline. Meridia watched for a pair of minutes, but it didn't seem to leave.
If I'm right, then what is it doing here?
...Either way, I can't just do nothing about it. Hope Riley can handle things on his own.
Meridia zipped up her backpack and left, Skarmory's Pokeball in hand.

Cassandra greets Carleen on her way back. "Hey, Carla! Did you have fun?" "Aw, you started without Corva!?" Corva demands. "She's co-o-o-o-oming! Oh, Corva's going to invite Wing, too."
She quickly cuts the channel and switches to calling Austin. "Wi-i-i-i-ing! Ghost's in trouble! Time to play!"
She estimates which way Micah was going and how far, then opens a Phantom Force portal in that direction, flying through to hover just over the ocean.

Carleen
"Oh yeah it was really fun," Carleen said laying aginst Bob.
"My Ivysaur even evolved for me and is now a Vensuar,". "Oh and Meloetta is now officially my partner," Carleen said holding the sleeping Meloetta.
"Hey Cass when we leave what are you going to do with your Pokemon?" Carleen asked Cass.

"Thank you", Cresselia replied with courtesy, before lowering her head down to Shaymin. "And thank you especially. Our friend here could really use the help."
"I will compel Volcanion through a dream, to gently release and reabsorb the steam he stores in his body. Shaymin, we hope that you will be able to purify this steam, which will help to cleanse Volcanion's body. As a warning, it may start to become warm in this cove. I'll begin when you are ready."
Down below on the ocean of Hoenn, space seemed to blur, shift, and twist into...
"What is that!?!" Marissa shouted, as the mirage of an island faded into view.
A bright flash, and what seemed to be the image of a mirror were visible for a brief second, before a blur of brown pounced out and tackled the Nova Executive and her Suicune into the water. A pulse of earthen power rippled shockwaves across the water from where they collided.
"That's not what we've been tracking." crackled a digital voice in one ear
"We're en route to intercept!" crackled a human voice in the other.
Both were lost on Marissa however, as she quickly leapt off Suicune before she hit the water. The Aurora pokemon was caught amidst a whirling flurry of teeth and claws, at a disadvantage in both strength and experience in combat with something of a similar body type. Marissa activated a hoverpack to keep herself in the air as she reached out with her mind.
Freeze everything!
Sheer Cold ripped across the surface of the ocean, encasing Suicune and its surroundings in ice. It's foe, however, was not caught in the blast. The fading image of Landorus in its Therian forme could be seen leaping back and drifting back towards the island before vanishing. Marissa growled through a deep breath, irritated by the change in events.
"That was just a projection."
I could tell. It wasn't thinking
"If I mockingly caution you about letting things get personal, are you going to mute m-"
Harry was muted. So what if her father died with the Forces of Nature under his watch. All that means is execution with prejudice just got more extreme. Below, Suicune was freeing itself from its iceberg, eyes already on the island ahead.

Yancy knocked on the door to Meridia's room again, waiting for a response. Nothing. Yancy frowned slightly in disappointment before adjusting the strap to her purse and walking away.
Oh well. So much for that idea.
Walking down the empty halls, Yancy kept thinking.
Who else do I know has makeup they could possibly let me borrow? Someone from work, maybe? But then again... should I forget about it and just go without it? Maybe Joshua would prefer a more natural look without any? It's not like I've worn any these days, and he doesn't seem to mind. Buuuuut he could also like me even more, or is that being too vain? Aaaargh, I hate being indecisive! I'm going to go look for a coin to... flip...?
She paused and backed up a bit to look down a hallway she passed, spotting someone slowly dragging themselves along, occasionally bringing a hand to the wall as if to stabilize themselves from losing their balance. Yancy turned and walked over to them to ask if they needed help.
Wait a minute, that's...
"Dammit Grant, pull it together! Don't you remember how legs work?"
If you think it's so easy... YOU do it!
Grant stopped and rested a hand against the wall to regain a little bit of balance for himself. Did he feel better than he did moments ago? A little, but it still required more than a little effort to walk without tripping over himself when half the time it felt like his legs were doing different things than what his addled brain is telling them to do.
It's not much farther. Just need to breathe a little, focus, and--
"Grant?!"
Grant looked up to see someone running up to him. It took a second for his brain to recognize them as they put a hand on their shoulder.
"...Yancy?"
The young lass grinned with a half laugh before pulling Grant in a tight embrace.
"You're okay!! Thank goodness, we were so worried!"
Aaah. Hugs. I missed hugs. Hugs are nice.
"Me too! YOU GOTTA LET ME GET ON--"
Yancy let go and stepped back.
"...Nevermind."
"How are you feeling right now?" Yancy asked. She briefly placed the back of her hand against his head. "You feel a bit warm, and your eyes look... distant."
"I'm... not perfect," Grant admitted. "But I think I'll be okay with rest. It's good to see you, by the way... How is everyone?"
"Hugh's... missing... but everyone else has mostly recovered. We were all more worried about you, though. It was frightening seeing you... right after we were... you know..."
Grant blinked a bit to bring his eyes back into focus. "Me...ridia?"
Yancy pieced together what was happening. He was on his way to see her.
"Ah... She's doing okay," she answered.
But gloomy again, not that I blame her, she thought.
"But I just came from her room and it doesn't look like she's there right now. If I were you, I would go lay down in bed and try again tomorrow. You look like you could barely walk!"
Grant looked downcast. "But..."
"I know!" Yancy said. "Do you still have your communicator?"
Grant racked his brain. "...In my room," he recalled. "...Probably out of battery by now."
"Then you should just send her a text message," Yancy said. "She can just run over and see you herself the next chance she gets!"
Grant slowly nodded. "Okay. That makes sense."
"Here, I'll help you get there," Yancy offered, reaching out her arm.
"Thanks," Grant said, "but I kinda want to get used to walking... on my own."
"Are you sure?" Yancy said. "...Well alright, but I'm still going with you in case you trip or something, and I'm not taking no for an answer!"
"Thanks," Grant muttered.
"Grant, let me get a hug!"
...Why?
"C'mooon, we both went through some major s***, I think we can BOTH afford some more physical human affection!"
...I guess you're right... But don't even think about reaching below the waist.
Grant's eyes dulled as the ghost inside him took over. With his eyes already looking distant, it wouldn't be an obvious difference.
"Hey," said "Grant". "I-If you don't mind... C-can I have... Another hug? I... Kind of missed human contact like this..."
Grant hated how convincing Gawain managed to sound.
Awwww, Yancy thought. Poor thing.
She giggled. "Of course."
She wrapped her arms around him. He put an arm around her waist and pressed somewhat firmly. Yancy didn't pay much mind to it, figuring that he was too caught by surprise to do that last time.
Gawain was in a zen-like state as he felt something pressing against Grant's chest. Two things, specifically. Soft things.
"OOOOHHHHH YEEEEEESSSSSSSSS"
Grant's headache returned.
Shaymin nervously looked back at Marley. She nodded in encouragement. The Pokemon breathed in a little to summon it's courage as it approached Volcanion.
"Looks like he's ready," Riley said.
"What the hell was that?!"
Scarlet and Micah had stopped and turned to watch as the ones chasing them were suddenly ambushed by a brown figure.
"That looked like Suicune!" Latias exclaimed. "I didn't know he was still alive! Happy day!"
Micah decided not to point out the obvious: Suicune was the one who attacked them.
"Well, yeah, sure, but what was that brown thing that kicked their ass?"
"It seemed like it went... over there?" The Latias pointed with her snout to a spot of empty ocean. "But after that, it vanished."
Micah squinted. Is it me, or is that spot... shimmering?
"I'm going to call this in to the commander. Watch out for any activity down there."
"Right!"

When she gets Micah's call, Corva appears right behind him and immediately wraps him in a hug. "Hey, Ghost! What's going on? Is something wrong?" She looks across the open ocean. "Aw, don't tell me you just got lonely! Oh, who made those cute ice sculptures? Oh-oh, and I already called Wing so maybe you should hide the bird." "What are we going to do while the Boss is gone?" Ice asks.
"Nothing. Lay low. Reinforce our position," Ground says. "Nothing much else we can do."
"Actually... I was thinking now might be a good time to launch a few raids," Steel suggests.
"You've gotta be kidding," Fire says. "Half the Nova troops in the region are combing the area for us."
"Exactly. That's all the more reason we need to strike. We need to make sure they don't get too full of themselves," Steel says. "Lilycove's locked down, but we can make them nervous about going too far afield."
"OK. First, that's a stupid idea," Fairy says. "Second, what about that bug guy that took down Sarge? Her injuries were awful. She nearly died, Steel."
"True. But she was ambushed. And alone. We should be fine so long as we stick together. Besides, we're pretty well set up to handle a bug specialist," Steel says.
Dragon snaps her shotgun back together as she finishes cleaning it. "I'm not opposed to picking off a few underlings, but we shouldn't risk anything big. We're down three members, and low on supplies, too."
"Doubt they're moving any supplies without heavy guard. If we can catch a patrol or two maybe we can at least snag a few bullets," Ground says.
"I want to be clear I'm against this," Ice says. "But if you guys are going to do something stupid, I'm not letting you go alone."
"It's going to be fine," Steel promises. "We've had the initiative the whole time. So long as we're controlling when and where we fight, the Nova forces don't stand a chance."
"It sounds like you have a plan," Fire says.
"Of course." Steel produces a map and begins gesturing as he continues. "So we'll cross the ocean here, and then..."
At the foot of Mt. Pyre, a small group of bugs skitter into the shadows of the entrance.

Nova Broadcast Networks This is a pre-recorded message from Nova Administrator Duncan King. "Message to all relevant Nova staff. It may have come to your attention that communications to and from bases with Goldenrod City have been met with radio silence. Indeed, I regret to say that due to a clash with insurgents, most within the city's limits are officially MIA. Our leader, Lord Maurice, among them. Make no mistake, however. Lord Maurice still draws breath. Even now, outside of the realm we occupy, he gathers strength to strike back against the terrorists that have caused such waste of life. It is not long before he returns to us, and teaches these warmongers what it truly means to oppose us. Effective immediately, I, Duncan King, will lead Team Nova until Maurice's return. All other command structures will remain unchanged, unless privately notified otherwise within the next 24 hours. So know this. Ingrain these words into your minds, and ingrain it into whatever troops you may command: desertion will not be tolerated. Our database lists everything there is to know about each and every soldier and worker within our ranks. Run, and we will catch you. Hide, and your families will suffer in your place. Defect, and you will be granted the worst tortures you would deserve. You cannot hope to escape Nova. Prepare for Lord Maurice's return. Our time of reckoning is at hand." [/i][/div] Message repeats...... This is a pre-recorded message from...
Central Orre, Near Pyrite Town "Morrigan!" Meridia bounced to signal to the Murkrow flying overhead. The bird circled overhead a bit before descending and perching on her outstretched arm. "See anything?" The bird shook her head. Meridia sighed as she looked down by her feet. Ymir the Turtwig was moving particularly sluggishly as it walked over to her. Squirtle had flopped on the ground in exhaustion. Skarmory had already fallen asleep; it's head nestled beneath its wings.
"Hmm... Alright. Take a break, everyone. You've earned it." Morrigan glided off her arm to the soft grass below as Meridia squatted down on a knee-high rock. The discomfort of the hard stone against the thin fabric of her shorts only served to irritate her more. With speeds that fast, it's long gone right now. I should've just gone with Riley and Molly instead of going into this ghost chase. ...What am I even doing? The only reason I was going was because I had nothing else to do. Most of my soldiers are still trapped in Sinnoh, Joshua, Yancy, and Mia are busy working their butts off, and Grant's... Grant's... Meridia clutched her knees. I'm hopeless. How can I even hope to find Micah like this? "You... appear troubled." Meridia jumped up and started frantically looking around. The other Pokemon (that were awake) looked at her curiously. "Who... who was that?" she muttered, half-whispering. A period of silence followed. Come on... I'm not crazy enough to have started hearing things! "Hmm... I sense this power from you, yet... Do not tell me you don't know something as simple as telepathy?" Telepathy? That explains it. "No... I don't," said Meridia out loud. She ignored the strange looks she got from the Pokemon. "I can sense your compassion... this 'Micah'... who are they?" "...My brother. He's... on the wrong side. I... want to try to bring him back." "Then in a way, our interests align. I know your plight is earnest. I feel like I can lend some assistance. Starting by teaching you the basics of your power." "But why? You're... you, and we've only barely met. I thought Pokemon would know to distrust humans by now." "We both know I'm not like other Pokemon." Was that a bit of snobbishness in his voice? "...In truth, humans -- or should I say, human potential -- had always fascinated me. When I used to observe from afar -- without getting shot at -- nothing upset me more than squandered potential. Your have far above average potential concerning your psychic abilities. I can feel it. I feel like experimenting with a mentor role for a change. ...And... I can sympathize for wishing to reunite with a lost sibling."
Meridia pursed her lips in thought. Well... I have nothing to lose. "Alright," Meridia said. "Teach me, then." Meridia turned her head. A pair of eyes staring inches away from her caused her to jump back, comically stumble over herself, and topple onto the grass below. The other Pokemon yelped in surprise at the shockingly stealthy newcomer. "Excellent!" Latios exclaimed. "We're starting with lifting stones."
Micah squinted his eyes. He couldn't see his assailant anywhere. "It would be bad if Nova catches wind of rebels being here," he told Corva. "We're pursuing. Scarlet!" "Not sure if we should, but you're the boss!" They drove off toward the general direction of their attacker.
With a soft hum, Shaymin was enveloped in a bright, almost hypnotic green light. Volcanion soon shimmered in a similar light, stirring and groaning slightly in response before laying still. "How long do you think this'll take?" Riley asked nobody in particular. "If I were to hazard a guess, I expect a slow process," Cresselia said. Riley nodded. "...So... unconscious Mamoswine in the room..." He pointed down at the unconscious Eusine by their feet. "There a reason we dragged this joker out of the hospital?" "Yes," Blue said. "Cresselia, this man was an unfortunate victim of... traumatic experiences. From what Molly's told me, responsiveness has been... less than ideal. Is there some kind of way we can speak to him through a dream?" Cresselia seemed to smile at that. "And pray tell, when was the last time a dream you had made sense after you awakened?" Blue scowled. "...It is worth an attempt," Cresselia said. "I know not how successful it would be, however, as I have no memory of ever doing this with a... 'traumatized' fellow." "What would we have to do?" Marley asked. Her eyes parted from Shaymin for mere fractions of a second.
"I can send one of you to sleep, so that you may enter a dreamscape shared with Eusine and converse from there. I would make sure that his dream is a pleasant one first, of course." "...Isn't that like huffing Dream Mist?" Riley commented. "That is a crass, and yet not incorrect assessment", Cresselia said. Muttering something in Poke-speak, Riley could only assume that it was a minor rant about those weirdo humans and their extreme lengths to get high. "So," Blue said. "Any volunteers?" "...We barely know him," Marley said. "Shouldn't you be the first choice?" Riley asked. Blue shrugged. "I hired him, I wouldn't say we're particularly close otherwise. Business partners, at best." "All we did was destroy a Nova base together," Riley said in the same tone of voice as if he was saying 'we just had a drink once'. "We were working separately for most of it, too." "Molly?" Marley suggested. No one had any better ideas. "I'll go get her," Blue said, walking past them to get back to the feast with the other time-displaced crew. Riley looked back at Shaymin. No visible changes. "I'm going on a walk, if you don't mind," he told Marley. "I imagine you want to keep watch?" Marley nodded. "Well, be sure to give me a shout if you need anything," he said. "Even though I know you don't like shouting." "It's okay," Marley said. "Be careful, as always." Marley chose a comfortable looking patch of grass to sit down on as Riley wandered away. Where did that one lady run off to? I hope Marley didn't leave her too depressed.

"You're glad it was us?" Vern asks. "Not really sure what you mean. Er. I guess there could be a lot worse people. Nova troops or something."
Jude frowns. "Yeah, that could have been pretty bad. So, what did those guys mean by a patient?" "Wi-i-i-ing's already on the way for backup. He's~gonna~see~the~Bitey~Bird" Corva sings as she struggles to keep up with Micah. "But that's not important right now! Besides, he really likes flying things. They'll be best friends. So! Um, what exactly attacked you, anyway? I need to know how best to kill it."
