Team Nova - Episode 13: Rebirth

Micah took a long, deep, irritated breath at his teammate being unable to take a hint. He stopped in his tracks and turned to face him, staring blankly at him.

"Look, if I'm walking this far away from camp, it means I want to be alone. The commander already knows what I'm doing and I'll be back in minutes. Until then, beat it."

Micah almost chuckled. Great. A know-it-all.

"Yeah. Sure. Sulking away from camp is exactly what I'm doing. Believe what you want," Micah said. "I'm not here to make friends. Go take a crap behind some bushes or whatever to kill some time. Once I'm done with my own business, we'll walk back together and act like we bonded over sports or something. Deal? Deal."

Micah didn't even wait for an answer as he turned his back.

Carleen tries to struggle against the ribbons. "No let me go don't you see how worthless and cowardly I am,". "All I did was run and hide,". "You guys were risking everything, you guys lost so much,". "I I I," Carleen sobbed as she surrendered to the Ribbons.

"I just wanted to go and do some training with my Pokemon, and I never wanted to hide,". "I just wanted to be a champion one day, with the partners that fought so hard beside me,". "Now I don't even know if the other Pokemon I have are alive, or if there vicious killing machines," Carleen sobs as a rush of memories begin to flood her memory.

"The Charmander I got as a birthday present,". "The injured Ralts I nursed back to health while traveling Honen,". "The Feebas I won at the Carnival game and would later become my most trusted Milotic,". "I am so sorry for abandoning everyone, I am sorry I acted like a coward and hid," Carleen said while hugging Ribbons.

Pikachu hoped onto Carleen's shoulder and comforted him.

Yuzu looked on both concerned and with an idea that popped into her head.

(Ashley I need your help to connect my thoughts to everyone but Ms. Carleen.)" Yuzu asked Ashley who nodded.

Ashley closed her eyes and began to meditate and did her best to link up with everyone but Carleen.

"Mr. Vern, Jude, Ms. Cass, everyone its me Yuzu please don't be alarmed. I am using the help of Ashley to speak with you. I have an idea to help Ms. Carleen but in order for it to work. She cant know what I am about to do. But I will challenge to a battle. But unfortunately I have to get mean and act nasty towards her. Know its all an act and I need you to act like your asleep or something.

Carleen's Pokemon I need you to know I mean Carleen no harm. Yet she needs to see for herself how strong her bond and determination is. I need to show her how strong her bonds are.

Greninja you can be the one to battle alongside her.

"If you can agree to my plan just respond through your thoughts," Yuzu pleaded with everyone.

"Oi, no fighting at the dinner table," Vern scolds Yuzu.

Corva pouts.  "Hmmmm.  Micah?"

Micah shrugged. "Only as much as you've told me.


...So nothing."

Austin looks at her determined and as emotionless as possible.

"Yeah... I can fly."

"Thank you everyone, oh if you want to see my other forme head down to the beach,". "Again I am sorry for the inconvenience it's causing you,". "Ashley can you go ahead and cut off everyone's link," Yuzu directed Ashley.

Ashley nodded as she cut off the link to everyone. Ashley then began to collapse from the strain until Greninja caught her.

"(Thanks looking out for me like you always do,)" Ashley said to Greninja.

"(Well your still that Fennekin I had a crush on back in the day,)" Greninja replied awkwardly.

"(Funny isn't it that it took something so tragic to bring us together, now hurry Ms. Carleen needs you,)". "(I will be fine I just need to rest a bit it still takes a bit out of me to use my powers like that,)" Ashley told Greninja as he laid her underneath a tree.

"Now everyone act natural, Pika follow me, Greninja go get Ms. Carleen," Yuzu asked the two pokemon.


Pika followed Yuzu to the beach while Greninja went to Carleen who was still sobbing into Ribbons. Greninja gently went towards Carleen and tap her on the shoulder. Carleen looked up towards him wiping away her tears. "I am sorry for failing you as a trainer,". "Maybe you should run off with Vern or someone more capable,". "Maybe Cass she will take good care of you," Carleen whispered while hugging Greninja.


Greninja looked upon her stoically and just helped her to her feet. He then made a motion for her to follow him almost like he was leading her somewheres. "Is everything okay?" Carleen asked as Greninja said nothing.

Carleen and Greninja reached the area where Yuzu and Pika were.

"Yuzu, Pika is everything okay?" Carleen asked nervously.

"No everything is not fine, I have my concerns about this trainer I met," Yuzu said with her back towards Carleen.

Carleen just gazed upon the Meloetta who was just floating there. "I thought this trainer was the strong hearted and kind person I first met,". "I was drawn by her aura and how well her and her pokemon got along,". "I sensed a trainer that would do anything for them,". "They were more then just friends or partners but almost like family," Yuzu said to Carleen.

"That trainer was somebody I wanted to get to know,". "I thought ever since those horrible people ran those experiments on me, I could learn to trust again,". "You know a trainer I could travel along with and almost you know be a part of there team,". "Yet that trainer is no more all I sense from her is doubt and self pity,". "All I ever feel is undeserved pity and remorse for something she didn't do,". "In fact all I sense now is nothing but weakness and fear, in fact maybe I should take her Pokemon and keep them safe from her and Nova," Yuzu said as she turned towards Carleen.

"You say that you don't want to fight and that you would get them hurt,". "Well if you have no Pokemon you could go with your friends right,". "Then you wouldn't have to worry about them right,". "You wouldn't have to worry about any issues afterwards,". "Know these people don't care about your feelings,". "Nova doesn't care if these Pokemon are your family,". "Ask your Delphox and Greninja what they are like?" Yuzu said to Carleen.

Greninja nodded in agreement at what Yuzu was saying. "(Even Ashley's own mother turned on her own child and her trainer when hit by that weird energy,)". "(It was brutal and Ashley to this day is scared by what happened,"). "(She will never admit to it but she idealized her mom and wanted to be a great performer like her mom and trainer one day,)". "(Yet all she could do was watch in horror as her mom viscouslly attacked her own trainer,). "(The same trainer in which the two of them became Queen of the Kalos region,)". "(All Ashley's trainer could do was shield Ashley from her mom's assault,)". "(Her trainers final words were to me some random wild Froakie,)" Greninja began to tear up a bit at the mention of this.

"(She told me a random Froakie, the same Froakie she often had chased away,)". "(She told me to take Ashley and run,)". "(She told me to keep Ashley safe,)". Greninja said to Carleen.

"(I felt nothing but pain ever since that day and nothing but vengeance towards them,)". "(These people caused nothing but pain and harm to someone I love,)". "(They caused a wound on her heart that will take a long time to heal, or may never heal,)". "(To me they are worse then a wild Pokemon,)". "(Wild pokemon only attack to protect or because they are scared,"). "(Nova attacks without remorse, and for nothing but pleasure,)". "(I tell you this because I want you to know to feel no guilt about fighting them,") Greninja told Carleen.

Carleen who caught most of what he was trying to say and Yuzu used Physic to help fill in the rest.

"Ms. Carleen don't feel guilt for not wanting to fight,". "Don't feel guilty for ordering your pokemon to attack them,". "If you don't order them to attack them, they wouldn't hesitate to order them to attack you,". "There will be no hesitation in them attacking, killing, you, Cass, Vern, anyone is a target," Yuzu told Carleen.

"I guess your right but what about my lack of experience,". "I mean even if I want to fight I never used a gun, or a sword or anything,". "Its not so simple as just willing my self to shoot accurately or strike to kill on my first try,". "How do I defend myself or my friends if I don't know how?" Carleen asked.

"Your a trainer so it's obvious what your method of fighting is,". "In fact right now and right here me and you are going to have a Pokemon battle,". "If you can defeat me, I will join you as your partner,". "If you lose then I will use my abilities to keep all your pokemon here will they will be safe,". "The catch is you will never see your pokemon ever again,". "Oh and if you don't accept my challenge then I will just take your Pokemon from you," Yuzu said as she landed on the beach.

"So what will it be will you battle me to protect your precious Pokemon or will you run and hide?" Yuzu said as a fierce wind picked up around her. A few of the Wynats that were on the island could pick up on the intensity in the air. They made there way to the outer edges of the forest to get a look at the action. A few of them exchanged a couple of confused Wynats amongst themselves while a couple of the more experienced ones knew what was about to happen.

A tense silence fell between Carleen and Yuzu as the two just stared at one another.

"So I take it I don't have much of a choice do I?" Carleen asked with a bit of smugness.

"Well you can always abandon your Pokemon here, keep them safe from harm,". "That's what you want right,". "To keep anything bad from happening to them,". "Here they will be safe from anyone like Nova, harm, abd especially weak hearted trainer like you,". "With such little resolve no wonder you got destroyed by Cynthia,". Yuzu told Carleen.

"Well if anyone no matter who they are tries to harm or take my Pokemon I will stop them regardless who they are," Carleen told Yuzu with a renewed fire and determination.

"I can sense her doubt and self pity starting to fade,". "Now just to give her that final push," Yuzu thought.

"As praise for your renewed fire allow me to show you my other form," Yuzu told Carleen.

"Her other form, Greninja I am depending on you I don't know what she's planning but it cant be good," Carleen said as Greninja nodded.

"Oh if you only knew, here it goes," Yuzu said as she began to radiate a strong light. Yuzu closed her eyes and began to sing but it was different almost. The song sounded old and ancient and different somehow. Then Yuzu's whole body began to react to the song she was singing. Her comb like object began to move and her hair began to glow and move. Her hair began to change colors to red and wrap around her head. Her feet began to glow like they were wearing boots on the bottom of her and her skirt grew slightly bigger. The Wynats that were gathered on the outside of the beach were staring at the scene in awe. They weren't use to seeing her in this forme but when they saw it they knew she was serouis.

"Wait what's going on is she evolving?" Carleen asked as she could feel a fierce energy coming from her.

Yuzu finshed singing and landed on the beach in front of her and opened her eyes. "Your incorrect Ms. Carleen this isn't an evolution,". "This is a forme change,". "Now then lets test your resolve," Yuzu told Carleen.

Location: Beach

"You think we are being to hard on mother?" Pika asked Yuzu.

"She has to be prepared for anything when facing Nova,". "There's a chance her pokemon could be starburst and turned against her,". "Plus they wouldn't hesitate to attack the trainers themselves,". "Trust me though she's just getting started Pika, so keep playing along for now," Yuzu reassured Pika.

"I told you that they would not be afraid to pull punches,". "Anything and everything is fair game,". "Your precious Pikachu can't be reasoned with,". "Your Greninja isn't the only target," Yuzu told Carleen.

Carleen picked herself up and helped up Greninja who was shaking off the previous Thunderbolt.

"Give up now and run away,". "Spare yourself and your Greninja any further pain,". "I give you my word that no harm will come to your pokemon while they remain here," Yuzu called out to Carleen.

"So even my Pikachu that has been with me from my start,". "Even he turned against me, every battle, memory, good times and bad times means nothing to you," Yuzu said in a mixture of anger and sorrow.

"I am afraid so you see that experiment I was part of was meant to control Pokemon using my voice,". "There memories mean nothing, they have no feelings towards you just the one controlling them,". "Oh and trust me they don't give a dam about there feelings,". "They are just a means to an end," Yuzu said to Carleen.

"I see, so if that's what it comes down to, and if they really can't hear me no more," Carleen said as her knees began to shake.

"I have to tell mother that everything is okay,". "She's in pain right now and I can't stand that she's in pain," Pika told Yuzu.

"Trust me she isn't in pain on the outside it feel like pain,". "But I could tell something is happening with her,". "Plus if we give in now she will never know what to do in the situation it ever occurs to her,". "It's true a Pokemon affected by Starburst loses all feelings and emotions and becomes nothing but a mindless tool to be used by Nova,". "She never saw it before so she has to experience a weaker form of it so she isn't so shocked once we leave," Yuzu reassured Pika.

Greninja stepped in front of Carleen and looked at her. Greninja just gave her stare like he wasn't ready to give up and that he was still ready to fight. "(I can still fight if your still by my side Ms. Carleen,)" Greninja reassured Carleen.

"Heh your right its not over til it's over,". "No matter the situation we will find a way to get through in the end,". "Besides who said I only have you to worry about, I have everyone on my side, everyone here and everyone back home,". "No more doubt today is the day we forge a new destiny,". "So Yuzu looks like its a 2 on 1 not so fair right,". "Well its time to even the odds," Carleen said as she tossed a pokeball into the air. Bob the Ivysaur appeared next to her and he lets loose an Ivysaurrrrrr in response.

"Bob and Greninja I am counting on you two,". "Together we will defeat Yuzu show her out resolve,". "Guys I need your strength please lend me your power," Carleen said as Bob and Greninja nodded towards her.

"Psst Bob its me Yuzu, were you around when I was talking with everyone?" Yuzu asked Bob.

"I caught bits and pieces of it through the Pokeball, but this is some sorta test right," Bob responded.

"Yeah in a sense it is but she only needs to think she has everything to lose, baiscally just keep fighting me and Pika as long and hard as you can," Yuzu told Bob.

"Got it," Bob replied.

"Bob use Sleep powder on Pika and Greninja use water shuriken on Yuzu," Carleen ordered her Pokemon. Bob began spreading a green like spore around the area. Yuzu used her Physic energy to deflect the blades from her and Pika. Pika let loose a Disarming Voice towards Greninja who was air borne launching water shurken towards Yuzu. Bob stepped in front of the attack barley taking any damage. Yuzu was grazed by Greninja's attack due to being focus on deflecting the sleep powder.

"Now its our turn," Yuzu unleashed a hyper voice towards Bob and Greninja as Pika worked in his Disarming Voice in the move. The combo of Disarming Hyper Voice did decent damage on Bob and super effective damage on Greninja.

"Greninja and Bob are you two okay," Carleen asked. Bob and Greninja assured her that they were okay. Before either Carleen or her pokemon could react Yuzu and Pika unleashed there moves. Yuzu used Physic on Bob and lifted him into the air as Pika unleashed a barrage of Thunderbolts on Greninja. Greninja having been able to see the attacks coming were able to dodge it as Bob was helplessly floating above him. Yuzu then dropped Bob right on top of Greninja allowing for Greninja to be hit by another one of Pika's Thunderbolt.

Greninja was breathing really heavy and was struggling to stand uprate. Bob was feeling the effects of Physic and took quite a bit of damage. "Greninja you did enough please stand down,". "Your hurt and you can't take much more damage,". "Please you don't have to fight anymore," Carleen pleaded with him.

"(You still haven't learned as long as I can move and fight then nothing is ever over,)". "(I appreciate your concern but just know my strength is yours,)". "( Your kidness and determination are what gives me strength,)". "(So don't worry about me,)" Greninja said as he gave her a thumbs up.

"(Yeah mom as long as we can stand and breath we can fight,) Bob reassured her. "(You give us the strength to do our best now its our time to return that strength to you,)". Bob told Carleen as a strange white light surrounded him. "(Let me show you me resolve and strength,)" Bob said as his whole body turned white.

"Bob your your your evolving all because of me," Carleen called out. Bob began to shine and his body began to change as his legs became thicker. The bulb on his back began to grow large and bloomed into a huge flower. Finally the rest of Bob's body became bigger and thicker. Finally the light resided from Bob and his new form apperead in front of Carleen. Bob took two mighty stomps and let loose an intense Vennnuuunnnnaaasssur in triumph.

"Bob, you did that all because of me," Carleen said in a mixture of shock and appreciation.

"(Yes because your strength and courage has given me the strength to come this far,)" Bob replied.

"Bob and Greninja how did I ever get so lucky to ever get such great Pokemon like you," Carleen said as she began to cry tears.

"Yes her aura that beautiful of aura of her is finally starting to reach her potential,". "Pika I hope your ready I think Carleen is ready to finally show us her true strength," Yuzu said to Pika.

"But why doesn't mom compliment me like that," Pika whined.

"You silly Pikachu she will in fact its because of the bond she shares with all of us is why Bob was able to evolve," Yuzu told Pika.

"Well I guess we have to finsh this quickly then, mom's snuggles are the best," Pika said with a renewed focus.

"Yeah her hugs and snuggles are the best," Yuzu said in return.

"Yuzu, Pika I hope you two are ready for the new and improved Carleen," Carleen called out to the two of them.

Austin nods, pressing a button on his drive to activate Victini's psychic. He is surrounded by a blue glow, and floats along with the others on his own, keeping his concentration on the sea in front of him and controlling his thoughts.
