Honestly, a relationship is really just a close friendship with a few differences. Don't date someone in a serious manner unless you are friends. GX and I were lucky to be friends, and the transition from friends to a couple was gradual. It's not a sudden shift.

Yes, I've heard a lot of people say that, and have actually taken the time to observe.
Basically, your wife/girlfriend is your opposite gendered best friend that you... Do things with. It's basically a closer friendship with a set of rules.
Marriage is quite interesting. I mean, we basically form "pacts" with another family, and birth a child with the blood of both, technically creating a new family.
And then that child grows up and marries into another family, birthing a child with the blood of four or six families, and it continues on and on.
Methinks this requires closer studying.
