I don't know I think he's less dragon and more walking deity that's been trapped in a mortals body. Now he's biding his time until he destroy the world w/ spoilers. Or something like that I am just throwing darts at a dart board and hoping one of them sticks.

Most don't go far at all. It's generally only used to say you really like the character, or in a game like FE:A where you can pair characters with some sort of avatar, that they're your preferred spouse/lover in the game. Or maybe even that you simply recognize the character's physical appearance as the kind you'd like on real people. I'd argue there's as many meanings for waifu/husbando as there are for s***, f*** and b****, maybe more.
