I myself often have problems with my writing being too elaborate. I find myself scavenging for adjectives in the recesses of my mind, and then I remember some of the old masters.
Reading Grossman recently really helped too. Now, I'm trying to keep my writing simpler, while maintaining my style.

Exactly I crossed that on a sight as well. I scramble with words too. Rather than detailing a single slash, I think it means make it simple.

That's another thing you need to consider, Fen-Fen. Every serious writer has their own style. Do you know what your style is? A writer's style is like their signature. It's crucial to improving as a writer that you know your style.

My style is more of a... Serious one. One where I focus on details, backstory, and character personality more than action. Unless this is a different type of style? If so, mine focuses on details and surrondings.

I'd say you shouldn't detail every slash, but that actually really helps with the anime imagery in my head. Plus, sometimes you come across a slash that deserves to be elaborated on, like some finishing blows.

Oh no, I don't detail every slash, thrust, etc.
X aimed for the knights left knee. Something similar to that.

Did... BL really seem anime ish? I might as well that since I was eventually going to do it anyway, Chronicles of Begonia sounds fun to do for a remake CYOA on GFAQS. Just thought I'd let you know Doug.

Just thought I'd let you know Doug. Yes. And I wasn't saying that you detailed every slash. You just mentioned something about details on slashes, so I threw my two and a half cents in.

Hm. I didn't expect you to be so sexually dense... Give me time. Just freeze time while your chem teacher's still there, and wait for me to figure out how to explain this.

Are you insane?! I'm not going to hit on my teacher, no matter the circumstances. You're freaky Doug.

Wow, Doug. You're almost as bad as Smexy. Almost.
Also, have you guys read R.A Salvatore? He's the guy who created D&D, and the Drizzt Chronicles(which is like 30+ books). His fight scenes are so detailed it's crazy. Way, way over the top. Heck, some of the fight scenes consume entire chapters. His books are still fairly fun to read though, and otherwise, his writing is pretty damn good.

Gary Gygax was really the one who made DnD what it is though.

Neo, don't encourage him. He's like my own personal SMEX, that corrupts everyone.

Wow, Doug. You're almost as bad as Smexy. Almost. Well, I am, after all... AlmostDoug. And I can't help but wonder if I'm the only one who used smexy as an adjective before knowing SMEX. Do it, Aran, do it~ Let it happen~ No more tears now, only dreams~
