I was wondering if I should include any of Mario's friends from his PM and PM TYD. If you want Goombario and Goombella they can be included just not sure when yet but they can be recruitable. As long as there is not a sudden out cry they will be included.
PS you can also ship those two with other male or female characters.

Thanks for the link it was helpful. The link will be great when doing back stories for new characters. Before I officially put Goombario and goombella in I just need to think of a good 'class' for them.

I just came up with a great idea for what the final boss will be. Originally I was going to work grima in this some how. Yet I just though of a better form for the final boss. The only hint is that this boss was in a Mario game.
Also it was originally just going to be Mario and friends trying to get the golden objects before bowser. Yet thanks to yellow there is a third group and that is lead by everyone's favorite villain who has a weird understanding of the English language. Let's just say this guy is the mustard of your doom and he will be leading his own group of "followers" such as X-Naunts, Mansion Boos who are not part of the story, etc. They will be the third group who will try to get the golden objects.

I have another idea if you're interested. You know how your Boosa seen went, well I was thinking you could make that into an actual game mechanic. You could make power up items from the platforming Mario games act as temporary class change items with conditions as to how and when they were off. For example the boo mushroom gives the boo class, with immunity to physical attacks and added traversal bonuses, until the user enters a well lit area. Another item could be the tanuki leaf granting the tanuki suit, with auto counter effect and boosted evasion, and would last until a character takes an attack that deals > 10% of the characters total hp. Or how about power wings, which give immunity to ground based attacks and increased evasion but were off if damage is sustained. Or an ice flower granting unlimited ice spell use and ice armer for a set period of time. Does that sound like a good idea?

Oh, add Marth. He can be.... You know what? You should make a Super Smash Bros CYOA after this.

@ King I would love to do Smash cyoa but I don't know when I could do it besides a job, and everything else I don't know when I would have the time. Oh well will just have to settle for having Marth in the cyoa for now. Just have to figure out how to make it viable.
@ Yellow
Some of the powerups are actually going to be skills (for example the tanooki leaf and the like will be kind of like the protect family of magic). While other items will be cousummables. Some could probably be a form of status boosters. Others could be like you mentioned either temp or situational. There is still plenty of time only at first mini boss and first boss
Also ???? battle update it will now be three parts yay.

Before I forget remember how I said people can faint in this cyoa but not be gone permentaly. Well this is the same but here is the consequences for characters fainting
First they remain fainted after the battles (basically if someone 'dies' they don't get 1 HP after the battle) until they are revived. Second there are a few ways to revive someone: A 1-up mushroom, A reviving spell (pretty much Life, etc.) and Wizard huts (think of them as the 'churches' from Dragon Warriors they will revive you for a small fee). Third, fainted characters can not be revived by a heart block or from a camp scene unless you use a spell or item. Finally, fainted characters will not receive exp until they are revived.
As of right now this is the system I will be using. This way you don't lose party members but you think twice before just going Leroy Jenkins on a horde of enemies ( got to make you guys think a little bit). So with that in mind happy voting b/c after this you have one story scene, one camp, then your first boss battle.
Finally, even though Mario is the 'Lord' of the story its not an automatic game over if he faints. In order to lose a battle everyone must faint or a lose condition must be met ( will get into specifics when that happens). So don't feel like you have to coddle Mario you will be fine if he faints.
