I don't know how exactly it works, so I can't really say much. Like, I know how Zerato, Gorz, Nephthys, Montage, and Reaper work, but not really any of the others.

I don't know what ANY of those cards are. Except... Oh, man, 5 of them. Doing good.

I spend too much time studying my own archetypes to learn others.

Well, at least for the monsters. I know how most of the spells/traps work.
What are Ante, Cold Wave, and Tribute Doll?

Ante: That one where both players reveal a card and the lower level momster is discarded and that player loses 1000 LP Cold Wave: Banned again, no longer in deck, irrelevant Tribute Doll: Tribute one monster to special summon a level 7 from hand, but it can't attack that turn.

I thought that (in reference to Ante) was Proof of Powerlessness. What's that? Is that the "No monster under certain level can attack" one?

Proof of Powerlessness: Trap, can be activated whenever I have at least one level 5 or higher monster on the field, destroys all opponent's monsters under level 5

That seems pretty strong, considering a lot of decks nowadays.
Well, strong against most mid-tier decks, but high-tier ones it only supports even more.

I'm really annoyed with this tiers thing. What happened to fun and creativity? Oh, and dueling with skill? Knowing how to make a deck from scratch without it even being an archetype? What happened...

I am SO glad Cold Wave is banned now. I have so many horrible memories of that damn spell. Digi, I'm booting up my computer and getting on to Duel Net now.

I like my HEROes. Although they're high-tier, I use them because I like them and They're awesome. Same for SS, and Most of my decks. Oh, I'm trying to make an Archetypal Deck using as little guidance as possible.

Dragon Rulers happened, and then Monarchs got support, and decks became about speed.
Really, the strongest decks are the speedy ones, and since older decks tend to be slower, they can't really hold up as well.
Older decks still work fine, but not as well in comparison to the best ones. Plus, faster decks tend to feel more engaging a lot of the times, so they're used more.

Archetypes existed since forever. Remember Toon monsters? I actually like the concept since archetypes bring out personality, show a lot of creativity in design (Star Wars X Wizard of Oz? Only in YGO), and help direct play style.

Toons are weird, because they're also a category like Tuners and Geminis.
Geminis are also weird.
And Unities.
Also, even when there aren't archetypes, there are some cards that are clearly designed to work together, like Quillbolt and Junk Warrior.

And for the rematch, I insta summoned Michael on turn 1. And got a perfect DL counter, guaranteed way to add JD to my hand next turn, and two Sworns in my grave. And even another ace. All on turn 1.
REVENGE.
