Synchros are so easy though. There's nothing really to learn. You just get a "Tuner" monster on the field and a normal/effect monster, and bam. You can synchro summon a monster with the same level as the combined level of the monsters you used as material. Ex- A Lv 3 Tuner and a Level 4 non-tuner = a Lv 7 synchro. That's it.
While there are some synchros that require you to use a specific attribute or type to summon them, synchro summons only really get complicated when you're trying to pull off an Accel Synchro or a Lightspeed Synchro.
So, basically anything that doesn't have "Shooting Star", "Shooting Quasar", or "Halberd Cannon" in its name is really easy to summon.

Also, Cyber Dragons and Red Nova work really well together. Since you can special summon a Lv 5 Cyber Dragon from your hand if you control no monsters while your opponent does(So basically, anytime your opponent goes first at the start), it's a very easy way for an instant Red Dragon Archfiend on your first turn.
And IIRC, Cyber Valley is a Lv 1 card right? A Cyber Valley and any Lv 1 Tuner = Poof! Red Nova Dragon.

It's less the mechanic and more the sea possibilities it opens up. Are there monsters out there that can be summoned using any tuner and synchro materials, and have effects that can work decently in any deck *coughstardustdragoncough*? If so, then there are even more options to consider beyond the scope of the archetype. I have a bunch of rank 4 XYZ monsters I'm learning so that I can pull them out if they're needed for a certain play. I use Heartland Draco, Blade Armour Ninja, Downerd Magician, and Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon in my Traptrix deck because they let me have an offensive presence the archetype cards don't have.
Fusion is very archetype based. Every card in my fluffal extra deck is a frightfur fusion because it's synergistic that way, and the main focus is pulling out fusions. Same with an Elemental Hero deck. The scope in my mind's eye is smaller, so it's easier to make a deck and play it.
But when I DO eventually feel like getting into synchros...I'll probably start with a Red Archfiend deck. Nova ftw.
