Well, aside from the MC's terrible choice in codenames, the show actually looks promising. It kinda reminds me of Zexal... If Zexal had been targeted to older teens, had better writers, and was more anime. It's still cheesy YGO, as always, but the MC actually seems really competent for once. He'll be the first YGO protagonist since Yusei to be both older and competent.

I heard VRAINS is deliberately more like 5Ds, between the futuristic setting, hoverboards, rebel protagonist, the protagonist having a 2300 ATK warrior ace and a 2500 ATK blue-white dragon ace while the rival has a 3000 ATK red-gold dragon ace... |
