G.Maccao and Tetsu will get you through the beginning of LH easily enough.

Shiny Beetles can also be found in the Firefly patches in the Verdant Hills (I think that's the name).
They're renamed Killer Beetles, so check the same kinds of spots.
Monster Bone Ls are found off of things like Tigrex apparently, so no upgrading my HBG for a while, though I might get some others to explore the various paths.

Much as I love the Swaxe, I think I'm going to try to start using Bows for multiplayer.

I'm already going Gunner for this whole game.
Plus, Bushido Bow is really good for Solo as well. Probably the fastest ranged gameplay ever in the series.

Today was a very successful day of hunting. I got the Tetsu set and an awesomely badass scythe. Now I just need some Monster Bone Ls and Sharp Claws to upgrade it and it will be my go-to weapon for probably all the way into early HR. Elemental weapons aren't as necessary as they were in 4U. Monsters generally have much less health, so Raw POWA is the way to go. |

Answer to both Lurk's and my question about Large Monster Bones: Earliest place you can get them is from carving giant enemy crabs in LR. There's also a 2 star Guild Quest titled "Shells of Steel" that has a high chance of having them in the rewards.

They changed the combo so the transform attack is now tied to the lunge instead... ^X-R
And the reverse is A-R...
This is going to take some getting used to.

What style are you using, Crow? Guild Style is the exact same as MH4U.
