Wouldn't having to scale the tower each time end up being repetitive as they're just fighting the same things they've beaten the first time?
Why not have to beat it once to "unlock" it, and using it still causes the "temporarily lose something of value" penalty as originally planned?

Or have the monsters scale according to the power of the person they are trying to revive.

Speaking of loot, what prizes aside from Summons can be given out? Will it be like FE8 where you get dead villains joining you?

The monster scaling would make trekking through five floors impossible in some instances, so that isn't fair. For example, if my Ethan dies, then I have to trek through five floors of OP enemies with insta death skills using only one CC. Whereas if one of the Nova characters die, then the enemies will be so weak you can simply run past them. That isn't fair to everyone.
I'm planning on making the World Tree a 'magical space', where each floor is different every time you enter it, with different monsters each time. That way, the dungeon is almost completely random, and nothing is repetitive.

Though they'd only be temporary characters, and you could only use them inside the dungeon. I also think we should limit the number of characters allowed to challenge the dungeon at once. Say, no more than 10. After every 10 floors, there would be a boss, with the bosses becoming harder on higher floors. All the strongest Summons would be found in the EX Dungeon, including Bahamut, Odin, etc. And you have to defeat the Summons first. Bahamut would probably be the Floor 50 boss, which would be the halfway point. And, of course, on floor 100 you would fight the Cameo Team. Speaking of which, we still need to decide which characters would be on said team. I think there should be a maximum of four characters on the team, like in the Tales series. Personally, I vote for Trail. He needs to be on the Cameo Team.

Also, you could still find normal items in the EX Dungeon, like currency and healing items.

Well, if it's just as easy to revive a planetbuster than it is to revive some random dude, than wouldn't that be even more unfair? More powerful characters should be harder to revive.

You make a pretty good point. But how would you scale them? By stats? Skills? Maybe we could all work on one massive list of monsters?

Or maybe we have the monsters be a sort of shadow version of the character and just have it on the first floor. In order to revive a character, you must defeat a weakened version of him.

Yggdrasil as a multi-floor labytinth? That most definitely doesn't remind me of a certain turn based Japanese dungeon crawler with ridiculously cute character designs and a pedigree for challenge... *Is even more tempted to make an RP or CYOA based on Etrian Odyssey* >_> <_< >_> I like it enough as a concept to want it in Oz, though. Maybe Enki could make his official debut as a cameo boss...

Ooh, I just had an idea.
What if we had the NEXT adventurers be a semi-indestructible quirky mini-boss squad?

Speaking of items, what are they besides Healing Items? Cameo weapons from supporting characters not in the crossover (Like how FE:A had stuff like "Eliwood's Blade")? Amulets with special effects? Anything else we can rip off from RPGs?
