I try to make the descriptions as idiot-proof as possible and people still manage to surprise me.

Oh yes, you're absolutely all knowing and good at idiot proof things. Takes an idiot to know one, friend.

If I were all knowing, I wouldn't be taking suggestions on how to explain the Character Relationships tag, since my explanation is kinda bleh IMO.
'sides, at least I can read.

Next time, don't idiot-proof, but DM-Slayer-proof.

Random Thought- So we decided that the ruling class is composed of bored writers and magical card game players, but what about the rest of the world? I was thinking something along these lines:
As far as technology levels are concerned it ranges from 13th century to futuristic, but it's mostly advanced modern. Why? Magic is rare. Far too rare for all of Oz to rely on, so as the saying goes necessity is the mother of invention. There would be three major types of societies. Towns, Citadels and Metropolises aka Metros.
Towns would look very familiar to the fantasy characters. From the outside at least. There would be plenty of farms and multiple shops and recognizable landmarks like inn's and taverns. But, everything seems cleaner. And there are strange machines like cars and guns. Basically towns were built to provide food and raw materials for the Citadels. Problem: Citadels want the best quality possible. Solution: To keep the soil from being over farmed, covered by concrete and to prevent contamination of natural resources from things like synthesized pesticides and Hydraulic Fracturing, The people who live in/manage towns agree to retain a more natural lively hood. In exchange they get paid rather well and are allowed access to certain luxuries. So it would be the norm for someone who comes from a long line of farmers to own things like a cellphone, solar powered car or a space age memory foam mattress.
Citadels would feel familiar to characters in a more modern world. Perhaps a bit more advanced though. Citadels would have typical features of a city like a police force, fire fighters, hospitals, schools, designated shopping areas, recreational parks, apartments, suburbs, big business skyscrapers, you get the point. Although there are a few improvements to said existing structures. What citadels would also have on top of that are a trained military, defense barriers and light rails which allow for quick travel between Citadels and access to select outpost. Said Light rails would not be like our light rails. They would have specially made pods that travel on actual rails of light. It wouldn't move at light speed, but it would easily break the sound barrier, which is why they project vacuums on the outside when operated and provide oxygenated chambers for passengers. The outpost would be there in between citadels to help maintain the rails and provide guidance. Citadels help protect the towns and turn the raw material into finished goods.
Metros themselves are less like cities and more just a general region marked by a polygon marked by five united Citadels. What sets apart the Metro from being a simple loose alliance is that each Metro has a capitol, aside from the towns and citadels, that does the major decision making for the conglomerate. Capitols are where Sci-Fi characters might fit in. Since the ruling class can create and conjure almost anyone into existence, they have made inventors which have in turn made them a high tech, futuristic residence that offers almost anything, from teleportation and personal wormhole generators to diamond makers to android butlers to cure-all medicinal and force fields. And since occasionally the writers aren't creative enough and the dealers want more, Capitols provide the best colleges which are sometimes referred to as Idea factories.
There could be a metro for each villain to conquer/rule/corrupt/destroy and the heroes have to save them before it's too late. And of course the more a villain posses of a Metro, the less help they'll get.
Other random thought: Suppose desperate dealers weren't the only reason our characters came into this world. Suppose it also had causation in two failed experiments. So a few years prior to the RP taking place, The dealers commissioned two supernatural entities known as Dr.Space and Dr.Time. They're only powers were the ability to create energy, and hyper intelligence. One day Dr.Space tried to prove string theory by uniting two separate alternate universes. On this same day Dr.Time tried proving time was relative and did not move in a straight line. They both activated their machines at the same time. It was a tremendous failure and an accidental success. Multiple elements of different universes were dragged into Oz by Dr.Space's machine and the time from which they were pulled in became the same as time was made relative by Dr.Time's machine. This of course means it's no longer just about killing evil overlord Hitler Von Evilstein, Wicked Witch Lady Macbeth and their evil crew to free the people of New Oppresia, but it also requires that we bring together Dr.Space and Dr.Time to build the "Un-F*** the Multiverse" machine.
Last Random Thought: Omake fountain. Characters drink water from fountain. Water is not water. Powerful drug that looks like water induces fourth wall breaking dream.

I like those ideas... But if we're actually going to use them, then I need to know ASAP, because I'll need to change certain things on the map then.

So, I'll have a rough draft of the map(Without SM's ideas) done in a day or so. It won't have the finishing touches, like Roshi visible beneath the continent, but it will have enough to give us something to build on and discuss. A quick recap on what the map needs: ° Yggdrassil, in the center. ° A large evil Empire, somewhere in the north of the continent. ° Several smaller Shrines, dotted about the landscape. ° Mountains, dungeons, and a massive underground cave system(I'm feeling spiteful today ) ° An evil tower for the Man behind the Curtain, or something similar. ° Smaller towns and landmarks, and smaller Kingdoms/Nations to rival the Empire. Is there anything else I'm missing?

By any chance, have you played Mario & Luigi: Dream Team? Otherwise yeah, I'm agreeing with Fenris on this one. So, I'll have a rough draft of the map(Without SM's ideas) done in a day or so.
