Type islands ended when everyone got superbuffs and unique moves. Like SuperDark Agrron and Manaohy Magic Buizel.

So how soon are we going to destroy Nova and have a final showdown? My estimates? About 1 individual arc (like getting Mega-quayza in your case), and 1 more arc that's about taking care of one more thing that threatens both Nova and the rebels, but leaves Nova wide open as a result. |

I edited in solutions because I realized it doesn't help if I don't provide any.
A mirage island makes sense to hide out on. Alternately, Mt. Battle in Orre. Or the Embedded Tower from HGSS (it's in Johto, but you could say that it has some sort of Mirage Island-like property so Nova hadn't gotten to it).
