So, does Salamence actually need the move Fly in order to... Well, fly? We can use a bit of common logic and say it doesn't cause it has wings, right?

Anything that's a basic feature of certain Pokemon's biology like fly or peck is free. I guess the moves would make them more capable at those things? |

It needs the move to use it as a powerful Flying-type attack. If it's not the move itself, it's much weaker and has no type. I think.

If I want Salamence to dive bomb someone, I'll have him use Shadow Rush in the air and fly towards the ground. I just wanted to make sure Salamence's wings actually work without the move. |
